The lunch menu has standard pub meals: Ham egg, chips: sausage; curry; scampi; pies at £7 & £8. But there is also an offer for 2 for £12. We had a chicken curry with rice & naan, also crispy chicken breast goujons with chips & salad. Both were nicely cooked & presented & good portions. The owner was very pleasant & the bar area, tables etc were sparkling clean. Although the building is obviously old, this part is an extension and a bit dated in style: red carpet, dark tables etc but, as a village pub it may be what the locals prefer. We'll be back as places serving such tasty, good value meals are good to find.

Called in for an evening meal while staying in the village on holiday. As previous reviews mention the menu is simple but reasonably priced. When the food arrived it was nicely cooked and the portion sizes were decent. The Landlord and bar staff were friendly too. The only minor criticism is that food is only served from 5.00pm to 7.00pm in the evening. We would have called back for another meal while we were staying there, but we never back from our days out in time.

Nos escapamos de la carpintería Show en Yandles esperando para una comida decente. ¡No estaba mal.

My Husband and I were going to have lunch in this pub, but the landlord was not very welcoming. it is a local's pub and we clearly weren't local, because he was on first name terms with the other people in the pub.He carried on chatting and left my Husband standing at the bar until he had finished his conversation. We seemed to be an inconvenience. This lovely pub was spoiled for us by his "I don't care about you" attitude. We will not return. Instead we visited The White Hart where the welcome was fantastic.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

I waited until our third visit before I wrote a review for this pub restaurant, to ensure a balanced view. we have had one evening dinner there and two lunches there now, so I believe I can provide an objective view. Firstly the staff have always been very friendly, smiling and helpful, never had a 'sour puss' serving us. Next, they have a good selection pf Palmer's real ales from light to the higher specific gravity of around 5%. The inside is very pleasant, clean, warm and inviting and it is obvious that money has been spent making it so. For our evening meal we ate inside the pub and found that the 'Special' menu had everything we could have wanted. All the food was well cooked, nicely presented, hot and very tasty. No complaints at all and good portions. The wine was reasonably priced and a reasonable selection. Our two lunches there were in the garden, again smiling, helpful staff. Our first lunch visit was a very warm & sunny day and the pub was packed. It must be understood that this pub is just about next door to East Lambrook Manor Gardens which attracts vast numbers, the result on a very warm, early September day, was that the pub was heaving with hungry garden visitors. To be fair to the staff, they were working flat-out and when we ordered our drinks warned us that food would be about 30-45 minutes due to the number of people they had in. So we ordered our lunch with our drinks and despite the number of people, it was only about 30 minutes. Also, despite the crowds, the food was excellent and the 'boys' chips simply excellent, some of the very best I have ever tasted - so good in fact that the 'girls' kept nicking the boys chips. Our second visit, in late September, was also on a sunny day and again, it was busy, but this time we could at least find a table in the gardens. Again the food was very reasonable, the chips just as good, and the beer again excellent. This is a pub that knows how to keep and manage real ale on hand pumps, it was clear, bright and fresh. I have MS but can walk with two sticks, there is a small step up into the pub from the main (front) entrance, but if you park around the back, you have a level entry into the pub & restaurant area. Comments about 'Silver' clientele and money is fair, but whereas the last thing I want is unruly kids running about whilst I eat, I would not be rude about such people who allow their chidren to do this. So, this is probably best described as a genteel pub, frequented by middle class people who have visited the Manor Gardens. There are no swings, plastic slides, toys or amusements for children so, if you have children who can't sit with their parents for a meal, then this is probably not the pub for you. However, if you appreciate a super location, smiling service, good food and real ales, then you may wish to put the Rose & Crown on your list.

Amazing place. Always get such good service here. 3 out of 4 of us wanted a jacket potato, which is on the menu as a side, not main, but Darryl was happy to do us jacket potatoes as a main with beans, cheese and side salad.. also the pub only has coke on tap but Darryl kindly gave me a Pepsi from his own stash in replace of the coke (I’m not a coke fan)… Darryl, you are the best!
