Just popped in to watch the football (England). Would have been the only other customers in there, ordered two diet cokes, served from a plastic bottle and very flat, friendly staff replaced the drinks with two flat lemonades. £7 for that privilege, I can see now why nobody was drinking there.

Awful pub. Landlady's attitude is foul. Never any spirits or wine. No atmosphere, no other customers. Red flags from the get go. Management need to review their career paths and quit. Don't waste your money in this terrible establishment.

A most enjoyable evening spent at the Rose & Crown. We had a very warm welcome from Elly the landlady and staff alike. The pubs ambiance was wonderful. The food was delicious and very well presented, the staff very obliging. In all a most wonderful, thank you to Elly and her staff. After a walk along by the river no better place to stop for a rest, drink and refreshments. You can not beat the Rose & Crown. We will return soon.

AVOID !!!! I was looking forward to the pub reopening after it being shut for so many months. Having lived in the village for 15 years it was my local My visit first back I liked what they had done to the decor, but was greeted by the most unfriendly landlady. You would have thought that she would have made the effort to get to know her locals, let’s face it they are her bread and butter!!! I have returned a couple of times since to try and support a local business but won’t be going again, the pub was nearly empty with no atmosphere and on my last visit had pipe cleaner in my beer !

Vile place and management. Only hospitable to people barred from the other pub in the village. Definitely a certain demographic. Landladies language is just as repulsive as the obvious drug use in the pub. Can’t recommend to stay away more.

Mum booked for 8 people to celebrate her 91st birthday. She was looking forward to having a lovely meal with her family , who had come from far and wide to spend the day with her. Table was booked for 2.30 We ordered and received drinks, then ordered food At 3.15 we asked how much longer the food would be ,and after checking, waitress said 10 minutes The 3 starters were served at 3.35, we asked if the main courses could be served to those who were not having a starter, we were informed yes they would be At 3.50 we were still waiting We were all shivering with cold as even though the radiators were warm it was still cold in the restaurant Mum at 91 was very cold and we were concerned for her We decided that we could not wait any longer , and informed the staff we were leaving We were told we could have the main courses for free as they were ready to be served, but we declined, as Mum was getting upset saying her birthday had been spoilt We paid for our drinks and starters and left Needless to say we will not be returning to or recommending this restaurant to anyone We went to a nearby chain pub , and had hot meals and drinks in a warm and friendly place, so Mum's birthday wasn't entirely ruined

We attended as part of a family celebration for 50 people on Sunday. The bar ran out of soft drinks which was grossly understaffed , 30 minute queues and produced atrocious buffet food. Please avoid this pub. : it’s not centred on your experience. You are just cash, to be exploited and served when they choose. DO NOT HAVE FOOD HERE. We left and went to Sainsbury’s which was far better even eaten in the car. I hope the owner gives the host a refund for the food. If they don’t , it’s testament to a cash first pub.

The service from the waitress was excellent and my food came with impeccable timing, as it should on your lunch break with the limited time I had, I liked that the make newspapers available, nice touch. A traditional pub, with old style values. They have a great garden, and I love that I can bring my little dog, which indeed i will. The manager asked me if I needed help when I was looking for the toilet, kudos for the attention to detail. Attended the Rose and Crown with family and friends on Saturday as it was their annual beer festival. I have attended the Rose and Crown many times and found it alright. However on this occasion the landlord, landlady and bar manager were very rude and aggressive to many members of my party which I was surprised at especially as we had been in before and had spent quite a lot of money on food. One member of the party who was spoken too aggressively was female and has been left quite distressed by the incident as have her children who found it upsetting that a man would speak to a women in such a way. I certainly will not be visiting the establishment again.

This weekend it’s the beer festival so was very busy and a great atmosphere with a live band (who were great ) contrary to the previous review ourselves and many others in the pub had to complain to the staff about children running round screaming climbing on tables etc and playing unattended in the car park ( not as we’re killjoys but concerned for their safety ) we often bring our young children in with us and have never had an issue with the staff/owners and find it family friendly

We had heard this was a nice place, and it is - a pleasant dining room in a village pub, with cheerful young staff. However the waitress opted not to make eye contact whilst we were waiting nearly an hour for our food. Then when it arrived, what was described as Chicken Tikka was in fact a sort of tasteless stew, with a totally charred onion bhajia and a papadom swimming with oil. My wife said it was not remotely like a curry. I thought a safe bet was the steak pie; not so, it was tough meat in an equally tough pastry accompanied by so-called triple cooked chips. These were in fact huge chunks of potato, some of which were hard and tepid, so not even cooked once, let alone three times. The menu is not particularly cheap. There are dozens of pubs serving good basic food in the area and to fail on two staple dishes like these is unacceptable. We would have done better picking them up at Sainsburys over the road and eating them at home.Sorry, but a visit not to be repeated.

Visited the rose and crown today for a meal, it was quiet. There was only a couple of tables dining, we went over to the bar to order some drinks and get a table. We got to the table, sat there a while and no body came over. So I went over to the bar to order our food, it was stupidly quiet so I didn't expect to have to do that for a pub where it's supposed to be table service. Our starter arrived and we had no cutlery. We finished our starter and had to sit and wait for a while for some one to come over and clear our starters away. I understand having to wait but when it's quiet you don't expect to wait that long. meals were lovely, can't complain there. When the waitress came over, she didn't even ask if we had finished, just took the plates. After this, I had to go up to the bar to ask for menus for puddings, which then I also had to order at the bar. Service overall was terrible. It wasn't busy so there wasnt any excuse for the lack of service. The bar man was lovely and couldn't do enough to help. So hats off to him. Wouldn't rush back.

We've eaten at this pub many times over the years and always thought the food and experience was better than good. We've eaten there this evening, I ordered one of their Blue Moon burger and was a little surprised when it came without chips as standard. Having re-read the menu I now appreciate there's no mention of chips being included, but wouldn't you expect chips!!As a customer I felt mislead, disappointed and ripped off. I raised my issue with the waitress, who mentioned it was a new menu and I wasn't the first customer to raise this point. Maybe the management should take note, I might have had to spend a few extra pounds to get my chips, but I won't be back, How many more customer are thinking the same. Add a pound onto the price and include chips. It didn't help that I paid £9.50 for a smallish overcooked burger with more lettuce than meat. Chips and onion rings may changed my opinion from poor to average, to then have to pay extra, you must think we're stupid. My partner ordered the salmon, and it was only later she told me it was very overcooked. She didn't mention earlier because she didn't want to add to further issues. As a side note I thought the service was very good. Would I recommend - NO. Would I revisit - NO.

Our friend chose the Chicken with White Wine sauce and delicious Sweet Potato Mash; whilst the Beef and Lamb were well cooked and served with homemade Yorkshire, Roast potatoes and three vegetables. Very pleasant, though the plates could have been warmer. Dessert was advertised as a Rhubarb Fool ; it was actually a sort of Trifle served in a half pint glass! The staff were attentive and helpful and offered a Fruit Salad as a Gluten and Dairy free Dessert. Disabled and Wheelchair ♿ users would struggle, as there are steps all over in this historic building, and I didn't spot a Disabled ♿ toilet or parking.

Steak & Ale pie was on the menu, my favourite. It was delicious. So much chunky steak and a hand made pastry case too. Followed by rhubarb n blueberry crumble. A new one on me. It was full of flavour and different from the usual run of the mill crumbles everyone serves. Try it, you'll love it. That's what I like about the menu here, good wholesome food but with a bit of variation. Slightly different from the norm. What was nice to see on this occasion was that people had taken advantage of the sunny weather and had chosen to eat al fresco in the lovely beer garden at this friendly village pub. Welcome was warm and friendly, service was excellent even the real ale was served to the table so we could sit and just enjoy the evening.

Had a family lunch out. The food was OK but certainly nothing special and I would just class as average. Some courses were dressed up to look better than they were. The worst problem was the service was slow. Two and a half hours for a two course meal when you have young children with you is not an ideal meal out.

The Rose and Crown is an exceptional establishment. The service is amazing and the food is fantastic. Had the most delightful Naked Burger, dressed to the hilt. I didn't want fries so they very kindly prepared the most awesome salad bowl to accompany my meal. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the team. I recommend this place to everyone so if you're out and about and looking for somewhere delicious to eat the Rose and Crown should be your venue of choice. Clearly, whomever is in charge is a leading light and it shows on the way they manage this establishment. To that end, we are guaranteed returners ! Thanks for an amazing evening

Great food, great service and the staff are always helpful and friendly. This is a proper local pub and should be on anyone's list.

had good meals in the past, but this pub is just a pub, nothing special anymore, not as clean as it was in past visits, the door to the toilets has hand marks all over it, high chairs for the children are filthy.

We've eaten here a few times, but I'm sorry to report that the food is no longer good. The bread to share was awful it was barely cooked inside and was very stodgy. The chips were dark brown. Were they triple cooked? Actually they looked and tasted like left over chips from lunchtime re-fried. The gammon was slightly burned and very dry. My friend's salmon was overcooked and dry. They still haven't up graded the toilets, despite them knowing they need doing. We won't be eating here again.

Booked a table for four at the Rose & Crown and pre-ordered from their festive menu. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by waitress Amanda who showed us to our table after we had been served our drinks by Brett the barman, a pleasant young man with a ready smile. Plenty of room at the large tables for plates, drinks, vegetable bowls, sauce/gravy boats etc. There is a feeling of space in which to dine and relax, unlike other places where the tables are crammed together. The general atmosphere of the pub is warm and welcoming with locals chatting/drinking at the bar (some with their dogs which was nice to see) whilst tables are arranged on an elevated level and spread out with room to manoeuvre without bumping into other diners when taking or leaving your seat. The food was plentiful, well cooked, delicious and reasonably priced for a starter, main and dessert. The plates were hot too, which I always appreciate. There's nothing worse that hot food on a cold plate. Amanda was attentive and prompt with our courses without making us feel rushed in any way. She appeared to genuinely take an interest in our requirements and nothing was too much trouble for her. The pub was tastefully decorated for the festive period and the the whole experience was most enjoyable. The Rose & Crown at Cotgrave is well worth a visit.

We had a very pleasant meal at the Rose & Crown. It was a Thursday night in November and the pub was quite busy which must be a good sign. The customers were a good mix too; locals drinking at the bar and couples and groups of various age groups dining. And three well behaved dogs as this is a dog friendly pub. Both of our meals were very good and also reasonably priced. A good selection of beers and pleasant service. What more could you reasonably expect at a village pub? We will return if we're in the area again.

We had our wedding here in August, and have eaten many times. Throughout the planning of our wedding, the owners helped us every step of the way; this was only part of the wedding we didn't have any stress over. This is one of the best pubs we have ever been to. The staff are incredibly helpful and always welcoming. The food is excellent and the beer selection is very good. We always come here when we visit family and will for years to come. You will be hard pressed to find somewhere with this quality of food, for this price and with such a fantastic atmosphere.

Nothing special but nothing bad. Service probably could have been improved if there was an extra bar / serving staff member. On the positive it is a roomy pub with a good atmosphere and pleasant outdoor sitting/play area.

This place has got a lot better! I visited a couple of years ago and was quite disappointed but today was excellent. Beautiful paninis followed by the chocolate fondue to share between 3 of us which was to die for. Staff were absolutely lovely and helpful and all in such a pretty setting. Will definitely come back.

Lived in Bingham nearly 5 years and have been in the lion a fair few times to watch football. This is the first time we've been in since it's been done up!!! Got to say that it's brilliant, atmosphere is good with both sides being full, the pool table is in a great position too. We ordered food for the first time too. The foot was excellent pub food and has certainly changed this pub from being just for sport to one where we won't just walk past again !!!! Great, well done on the change !!!!
