Portello Lounge in Rushcliffe

Strange place. Couldn’t work out what style it was meant to be. Bar staff very surly and didn’t even know what a brandy is. Three of them stood looking at the shelves asking is it this? Is it that? Sorry but how can you work behind a bar and not know? Not impressed. Wouldn’t go back again.

Nice salad, great to meet with friends or family.

First time visiting for food. The service was good and the food was really tasty and good portions. Only disappointing is that it was quite noisy and loud background music.

Dog friendly, child friendly, in fact .. friendly. Great service, tasty food and staff always ask how your meal is.

It’s good and predictable. Go there regularly with family for brunch. Kid and dog friendly. Food is good. Service is sometimes a little off , but nothing drastic - it’s always forgiven. Wish you could build your own breakfast without having to pay for “sides or extras”. Like substitute a veg for another veg - (I don’t like cooked tomatoes or beans, but I do like hash browns!!)

Beautiful lounge breakfast with more than enough food to eat than needed. They also have a great lunch with a Philly Cheese Ciabatta with also a god amount of food. Both of these things have many optional things to change.

Spacious and child friendly. With 3 kids in tow it's really handy to be able to order online. Service is always friendly and the food is great quality too.

Waited at the entrance for over 5 minutes to be seated as staff stand chatting at the bar. They glanced over a few times but didn’t seem happy to help us. Walked away in the end.

I had the cowboy smash burger and ny partner the normal bacon cheeseburger. The food was outstanding and made me savour every bite. Service was quick and staff were amazing and friendly.

We often come for tea here. Atmosphere and decor are awesome; staff are very polite, friendly, and professional; food is okay.

The service is spot on, and the food is not only good price and great portion but how fast is the food from the order time to the table! Also the environment is amazing you feel like at home and the deco is amazing, can’t recommend it enough this branch, there should be more of these pubs around the city

Not been before, but we dine regularly in West Bridgford prior to Forest games. We tried to book a table for 2 and were told that they only take bookings for 6 or more. We decided to book elsewhere, to guarantee a table, as we travel from the other side of Nottingham. Disappointing, but we do like the reassurance of having a table booked, and would have been willing to pay a small deposit to secure it, say £5 per head. Other restaurants in the vicinity take bookings.

Really disappointing - we asked to sit on the balcony upstairs and the waitress said - there’s plenty of people up there already in a condescending way which was abrupt and unnecessary. The food was flavourless and clearly very cheap - sausages burnt, no butter in the bread - the veggie breakfast also lacked flavour. Service was not friendly. We will not return.

Garlic fries were great and the vibes good. Skip the broccoli.

Been here once before and had a really good experience. But this was the opposite in terms of the food. We ordered 3 dishes, my wife had the Shakshuka which had been great previously, this time it was very salty. My dad had a burger which he enjoyed and I had the grilled harissa chicken flatbread with chips. The chicken was rubbery, it was not good at all. I can only think this has been pre-cooked, cut up and frozen, then defrosted. The chips were also cold You pre-pay for your food when you order on the QR code, no-one asked how the food was when they collected plates and we were in a rush to leave timewise so didn't complain or ask for a refund, but they definitely need to do better

Nice decent breakfast with reasonable prices. The indoor decor was pleasant.

Had the chicken flatbread 10/10 for taste size and quality ingredients

We were in the area and fancied a quick drink and a snack of some kind. What a great place! Interesting and quirky decor, good food which wasn't overly expensive (my husband was less impressed and said much of the menu is "poncey"). Quick service, friendly staff, and really nice. Will go again.

A good choice of food which is nice. Have to order on an app or at the bar. The barmaid didn't seem so confident with the drinks and each glass had a different amount! The acoustics in the place were bad making it very noisey. They need more soft furnishings to absorb the sound!

Nice food, plenty of seating with decent decor. Plenty of vegetarian options. We ordered six vegetarian tapas and our favourite ones are Cheddar and Sweet Corn Fritters and Black Bean Quesadillas.

Nice restaurant, warm environment. Very easy to order and fast service. staff are so friendly . excellent food and drinks with a variety of diet options.

Extensive menu with separate gluten free menu. Ordering ok at the bar, and food didn't take too long to arrive. Drinks order via the qr code was easy as well. Very noisy inside, both from music and other diners as nothing at all to muffle the sounds. Also wasn't aware,or happy, that dogs were allowed inside (and upstairs!) Food was OK to good, but my chicken Kiev burger was a bit overdone and didn't taste of garlic at all.

Great service, food and drink. Such a good spot on the high Street, Cruzcampo beer is great and love that it's served in the Lounges. There is really cool balcony area too. We parked in the car park opposite CoOp and it was really easy, even with Trent bridge cricket ground on it was super easy to get to.

We’ve been coming to Portello Lounge for a fair few years now since it first opened. It is our favourite place to eat in West Bridgford, whether we’re dining out as a family or as a couple. The food is always spot on, we’ve never had a bad meal, the drinks selection is great and they have a really good kids menu. It’s always got such a good atmosphere and they are very welcoming of kids of all ages. Keep doing what you’re doing Portello ❤️

Staff rude. Avoid if you and polite service.

Nice vibe, but has gone a bit downhill since I last came. Very busy, had to wait 15 mins to be seated which is a challenge when you have hungry children. The food is nice but overpriced. Asked for the vegetarian kids option for the sausage but was told I had to pay an extra £3.80. Not very vegetarian/vegan friendly if you have to charge extra, that should available if you advertise to have vegetarian options. Was told it was because it was cooked separately, though this again isn’t a valid reason as you are then penalising customers who want the veg option for their children. Not enough crayons for the kids to colour with. Nice place but overpriced and overrated! Not returning

Food was decent for the money considering the area, good selection of cakes and drinks. Service was amazing, super quick.

Been here 3 times now, and while the food is good, there's always a lot of items unavailable so I've never had the meal I've wanted. Don't understand why they can't get enough stock in. I give up.

It's a trendy place for young mothers

Wasn't enough butter for my toast. Asked for more but it didn't come. Toast was cold and soft. Wasn't exactly worth the cost at all. Everyone else's breakfast looked lovely.

Ideal for catch up as a meeting place for friends. We ordered by the app and both food and drinks came quickly. One staff member , Dionne, was exceptional in her service. Pleasant and very hard working

Had the philly steak sandwich I've got to say it was the worst version of philly steak i've ever had. Unsure how it taste like bbq pulled pork, it was disgusting. The beer didn't taste great either maybe a line clean is required. Pitty we use to like this place. I doubt we will be returning. Staff excellent I have to say super fast service. Food and drink requires attention though.

I was the only person in there so ordered and had my breakfast to the table quickly. Everything was hot and so was the plate which was nice. There is nowhere to avoid the overbearingly upbeat and loud music. I ate and left quickly as a result. I was in and out of this place within 20 minutes. Shame there isn't a spot where you can actually sit and hear yourself think.

It was really busy but we bagged the sofa by the window, plonked ourselves down for a coffee feeling quite relaxed watching the friendly buzz of the place! Food looked great and staff were lovely! One member of staff, Shanise(??) was very friendly as we’d changed tables and she made us feel very welcome!

This is a short and sweet stop I had on Thursday 28/03/24 & I come in many times to have a drink or a bite to eat but because it’s the start of Easter weekend it was a bit busier than normal, naturally staff were lovely and efficient, but I’ve noticed something that warmed my heart today and that was one of the staff members, not sure of her name but she was blonde wearing a black hat, helping an elderly lady to the bathroom there and back & also getting her safely in a taxi, true meaning of going the extra mile!

Medium group of us and the food was acceptable. We had a small issue that was delt with straight away and we would go again. Nice to see a place that serves food is dog friendly

Super dog friendly with a big jar of dog treats, quick friendly service, delicious vegetarian food and non alcohol cocktails. The atmosphere is vibrant and fun. Really lovely restaurant and will be visiting again!

Was a great lunch absolutely ruined by disgusting behaviour from the staff on their break who were essentially bullying their fellow colleague, who was running around just trying to do his job, won’t be coming back if that is the attitude they have

Phoned to book a table, was told they don't take bookings for small groups. The person queried the number of people, and asked a time, to which I replied and was told "no problem we will have space". Turned up today to be told "sorry, it's wait". They need a booking system for all party sizes.

It was heaving, at noon on a Saturday, however we only waited a couple of minutes for a table. The food, ordered via the app, came amazingly quickly and efficiently. The food was as good as ever. We loved it so much, we will return soon. 🤩

Sadly having to change my review from 5 star to 2. Have been a few times in past few months and every occasion there has been something not up to scratch. Our last visit last night..not a single item was even good. Haloumi fries arrived in 4 minutes of ordering ..lukewarm and limp..obviously microwaved and not fresh.sent them back and asked for fresh. Hot chocolate was lukewarm, sent back..arrived hot and now bitter. Churros were pale and when checked inside raw..sent back and asked for money back..as by this time fed up. The new Haloumi fries arrived and were actually the only thing finally eatable. Although staff were helpful and took on board our complaints poliety..have now lost faith in what was once our favourite place in Bridgford. Won't be going back.

Firm favourite, keep going back. Anywhere that does a pancake brunch at all times of day gets my vote.

We arrived just before 1pm. There was a wait for a table, but the staff were doing a fantastic job despite clearly being understaffed. Once we sat down, our food came very quickly - and was really good. Halloumi burger for me, all day veggie breakfast for hub. Big shout out to the manager who was doing a fantastic job, trying to juggle this busy restaurant with far too few staff. Thanks to all the staff. We will be back. ❤️

Lovely choice of food, great selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. Staff were very accommodating and cheerful. Great atmosphere family friendly as well as calm. It is a nice choice to catch up with friends anytime of the day. The selection of drinks is great too.

Fantastic gluten free range on the menu and the buttermilk fried chicken was the absolute best I have had in decades would highly recommend!

Staff Christmas meal. Had gone to a lot of trouble to give us a nice table and space. Great food and great service!

Reasonably priced and tasty food. Had the tapas Tuesday with fries which was just right.

Service not very good, Group of 13 people, pre ordered food with peoples names and they still got meals wrong. Had to go downstairs to order drinks because waiting staff said they didn't take drinks orders. Got a bad seat directly under a speaker so I couldn't hear what anyone was saying.

Felt compelled to write a review to say how fantastic our recent visit was to Portello Lounge. We attended a family get together on Saturday 18th November (West Bridgford light switch on) which made it extra busy than usual. The team were amazing to accommodate a table of 14 people, the service was gold standard and the food was tasty and served promptly. Special thanks to Shanice who ran the show and is a credit to your business!

Good atmosphere, great service, good food.

Good place to drop in for a spot of lunch with friends, which we did. The food was very good and washed down with a glass or two of nice beers. Very highly recommended.

Love this place, the chandelier are class, the food is amazing and the waiters are really kind, I don't know the waiters name but I had ordered the curry but the wrong order came out and he rectified it immediately and was really kind about it (14/10/2023)

It is one of the few places that has a decent Gluten free menu. The staff were lovely. Food was gorgeous. If I have one criticism the music was a little loud. Not too loud but everyone had to talk louder. Didn't really notice until we got outside though.

I had read some good reviews about this place being a dog-friendly restaurant, so we decided to bring our dogs for a quick drink. I have 2 small Yorkies, and they each have their own anxiety issues. They sat and slept calmly on my lap, and I made sure they weren’t on the sofa. As a dog owner, I am fully aware that they are not allowed on the sofa. A tall male staff member with a black T-shirt (think his name is Toms) approached us twice and said that dogs weren’t allowed on the table, even on our laps, in an inappropriate manner. We felt really uncomfortable and unwelcome. So, I spoke to the manager on duty, and she confirmed that having the dogs on our laps was fine. But why did the same male staff member come up to us twice in such an inappropriate manner, told us even though having them on our laps was not allowed? I’ve been to many dog-friendly cafes and restaurants and have never been treated this way. I’ve even been to their sister restaurant in Beeston, they don’t have such a strict policy. This place claims to be dog-friendly, but unfortunately, the staff aren’t.

Lovely place beautiful food, great customer service and very attentive.

Great bar in the middle of West Bridgeford with a good varied menu. We shared tapas and though they were very good, I would like to have seen more options, like chicken skewers. A very modern but quirky place with old framed pictures everywhere. Service is always quick and with a friendly face. Friends recommended the fish finger sandwich and buttermilk chicken.

The 4 of us visited today ( our first time dining here). My mum didn't get the pickled red onion with her mezze grain bowl even though it's listed in the dishes blurb. Service was incredibly poor and lackluster especially to say the atmosphere was dead with very few customers. We asked the male member of staff with long tied back hair for some garlic Mayonnaise as an extra to our meal, he forgot it instantly and didn't bring it until he was reminded 15 minutes later. A brownie was ordered as a pudding for my sister ( they are cold so can be sliced and served immediately) this took 20 minutes to arrive and the ice cream topping had melted. It was an incredibly hot day today and although this place appears to have air- con units fitted to the ceiling they were not switched on and don't work as they'd been painted over. The tables and chairs are very old and the whole establishment needs overhauling as it appears 'tired'. Staff were running around aimlessly giving a messy and disorganized vibe isn't at all relaxing for the customers visit. This was out first visit and it's certainly our last! Not impressed.

Had an amazing breakfast this morning. It was served quickly and most importantly hot and fresh.

Came here twice before leaving a review…the place is friendly and the service using the app is quick & easy however they messed up my wife’s order twice (she ordered a burger and removed items and added brisket which they didn’t do) we asked for it to be changed which happened but then the next one was still wrong and had peppers on despite asking on the app for no peppers. My other gripe was the children’s menu, the children’s puddings were the same price so we ordered 1X brownie and 1X ice cream and when it arrived the brownie came with ice cream and chocolate sauce, the ice cream was literally one scoop with nothing else for the same price. How does that work?
