Really lovely little cafe hidden away on this airport. Great place to take kids to watch the light aircraft and also helicopters taking off and landing.

Small basic cafe with lovely staff, great location for my little one to watch the planes while I have a cup of tea and breakfast! Win win.

I messaged to ask if they can cater for gluten free and it was no problem..they even made sure a gluten free cake was available on the day of our visit and it was amazing!! I have also ordered one of their celebration cakes that was extremely well priced and was honestly one of the nicest cakes I've ever had. This place is definitely one of my family's favorite places to go.

I was a little dissapointed with Chocks Away we arrived an hour before closing and went too order a hot toastie only too be told that the grill had already been cleaned so we would have to have something else, we went for ham and cheese cobs. No ham available. So as I say dissapointing we did stay and had just cheese cobs and tea which was nice.

Chocks away! Is a hidden gem I shouldn’t tell you about, it’s not that busy and the people are lovely. I’d hate for the word to get out about how amazing it is and then for it to get really busy 😝 It’s a great place to go if you want to grab a coffee or cake and watch the planes and helicopters come in and out. They also do light bites and breakfasts. My children love it here, I come on my own sometimes too to watch the world go by with lovely people.

Lovely little cafe at Tollerton Airport

Tucked away coffee shop and delightfully different. Good tea and dog friendly. The breakfasts look popular and kiddy friendly with access to an outdoor area with picnic benches for plane spotting. Will go again and try the food. 😀

Best thing about it was all the light aeroplanes and helicopters landing and taking off. Food was brilliant, not many tables inside but a lot outside, as most people are watching the aeroplanes 😀

First time we have been to Chocks Away as we were in the area. Nice place to have a drink and bite to eat whilst watching the helicopter and light aeroplanes taking off and landing.

A warm welcome, great cakes, a good mug of tea, very dog friendly and great view of the light aircraft zipping around. Unpretentious, honest sort of place. We'll be back soon to try the lunches.

We were really looking forward to our first visit after hearing great reviews. Sadly they were closed at 1.20pm and we left hungry having cycled 20 miles to get there ☹️

Very enjoyable will definitely be back.

Food was fairly quick, basic menu.do breakfast up to about 11.30. We had sausage, chips egg cost about £7 served on plate,not paper one, with metal cutlery, drinks served in disposable cups but hot.2 rocky road cakes, which were lovely on box to take home.childrens play area next door. You can watch the planes landing and taking off. What fun! Will go again. Food was freshly cooked You have to drive right to the end. Reminiscing because tollerton flying club nightclub there but only a pub there.

Fab place to visit . Staff are friendly & helpful. Great choice of food options, especially the vegan choices - even my dog got a sausage to eat. Watching the planes is an added bonus.

Good standard cafe food, you cant go wrong really too for the price. Loads of parking, you'd be pressed to find seating in bad weather but plenty of outdoor seating when the sun's out, oh and by the way it's literally on a runway, you can watch planes and helicopters take off whilst you ready your scran!!

First time visit, not impressed, over price greasy spoon, over £12 for a mediocre luke warm breakfast, When the food arrived, the lad said, " You haven't got your knife and forks," I said, "I didn't know we had to get them, First time here," He replied in a sarcastic voice, "I will get them then. Then he went on about my daughter. She would have to pay for another tea, but mine was free, We had not had our first cup of tea yet, All they seem they wanted to do was just take your money, £23.48 Avoid

This place is nice but not very wheelchair friendly

Miserable staff, limited menu, swarms of wasps, inside and out.

Lovely little cafe with seating area over looking the run way. My sons enjoyed lunch from the cafe while watching planes & helicopters take off. The seating area is fenced off for safety reasons. Toilets on site and plenty of free parking. Only down side was there was only one of each toilet and we had to queue. Food is pricey but fresh (£4.95 for a toastie). Will definitely return.

Quirky little cafe with a difference. Watch the aeroplanes and helicopters while you eat. Outside tables for a sunny day with a separate enclosed area for children.

Great activity for our 1 year old daughter: she loved watching the planes/helicopters and Mummy and Daddy could have a nice breakfast as well! Very good value for money 🤩

Nice visit to see planes and Helicopters. Food basic but ok. Worth a visit. It is situated near the control tower so need to park there.

There is still room for potential improvement. Thanks for a clean cafe but sadly during todays visit we did not see the friendly staff also could you take a look at putting on for children a hot food menu e.g. half portions of the adults meals. Jacket potatoes should be available all the time for those who need gluten free options. Having read others reviews the airport owners really need to get their cleaning equipment out as the toilets are almost disgusting.

Never seem to be able to do things on the menu whether it is simply chips or a roll. There always seems to something they can't do. Otherwise it is a nice spot, just needs a better cafe.

Great spot to watch the planes, plenty of outdoor space. Food is pretty basic, little pricey considering. But staff are friendly.

What a fantastic place, popping back today for their 10 yr anniversary

Great place for children as they can watch the planes taking off and landing on the runway. There is a gated garden area specifically for children with regular sized and small picnic tables. The cafe and facilities are a little limited and staff were friendly enough.

Lovely place to go with family or on your own. The cafe garden is next to the airfield so you get to see the planes take off and land. The cafe staff are brilliant, the food is amazing, the coffee is great, all round a fantastic atmosphere, highly recommend if you need something to do over the weekend.

A really lovely cafe right next to the runway of an airfield for light aircraft. Great to watch planes and helicopters and has a great selection of vegan and non vegan food. No frills but who needs them anyway :)

I had a lovely breakfast, with quality ingredients & my wife said her toasty was very nice. The coffees were good too. Nice place to sit +outside if you wish) to watch the planes & helicopters coming & going. Sadly the place was let down a touch by the tables that hadn't been wiped very well & the toilets. I think the toilets are shared with other building users but they're not the best.

Great selection of vegetarian & vegan food. Very affordable and amazing quality. Staff very friendly & quick service! Love that you can watch the planes from the outside & inside. Definitely return :)

Very disappointing when you take your children to watch the aeroplanes and helicopters and to have lunch at chocks away and you look online prior to your visit to make sure that they serve childrens meals and they do but oh no when you get there they do not and won't even offer a smaller plate and only an adult portion . Very disappointing as a 16 month will not eat an adult portion.

Visited the cafe today for the first time and couldn't rate it enough. We had the pilots breakfast and the food was an excellent quality and service was impeccable. We'll definitely be visiting again

A nice, friendly little airfield cafe. We pop in when coming in for fuel. Limited afternoon hours so just missing out on 5 stars.

Used to visit here at least once a week pre-pandemic days but haven't been since, until today. Was made to feel extremely welcome. Menu has changed but still all freshly made meals, including lots of toasties, jacket potatoes, burgers etc. Also lots of choice of drinks and homemade fresh cakes!! Breakfast is served until 12pm and then lunch until 2.30pm. Cakes are available throughout. The children have a separate area now, enclosed but still overlooking the runway. A fair amount of general seating indoors and out, definitely more would be needed for a busy sunny day. Great place to sit and watch the private aircraft and helicopter manoeuvres. I like that there is lots of parking including disabled spaces. Word of warning, as its quite open on a sunny day sunscreen is definitely required, I've previously learnt the hard way!

Can't give it a proper review yet only just discovered where it is. Going to visit at a later date. Have now been to Chocks Away, well worth a visit. Reasonably priced, good menu and pleasant staff.

Fabulous little cafe. Quick service, food piping hot and just as we asked. Took 2 young children (5 and 2) to watch the planes, they were fascinated to be so close to the taxi/plan parking area. Will definitely visit again.

Wonderful. Our grandson absolutely loves going to see the aeroplanes and helicopters . We love having hot chocolate there too👍👍👍

Lovely, super friendly café. We visited for breakfast and took our dog along who was very welcome. We sat outside and enjoyed watching the planes/helicopters. Delicious brie and cranberry toastie! Can be hard going out with the dog but she was fussed by the staff and we didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. Would recommend, thanks! :)

Came as a family. Service was quick, which made a refreshing change. Food was very average. Ordered 2 bacon and sausage rolls - both meat were greasy and appeared low quality. The menu was limited. No breakfast option beyond 11:30 but we essentially ordered a breakfast in a roll so ? Why they don’t offer breakfasts when their menu is very limited. They used to blame a post covid restart, but the menu is just lacking love. Cakes looked delicious but in catering for the minority they have excluded the majority. Not one on offer contained either gluten or egg - I asked which one had normal flour and/or egg and the answer was none of them. Disappointed to say the least! Overall it was very average. Food ok. Service quick. There are much better offerings if you are flying not too far away from Nottingham.

I hadn't been here for 3 years and was sadly disappointed. It wasn’t that busy and there seemed to be 3 staff working. We waited 40 minutes for a sausage cob, toasty and bowl of chips. That’s all that's on the menu- sausage and bacon cobs, toasties and chips so surely there’s plenty of it cooking and ready to go out? Instead it took as long between orders to make the food as it would if you were at home making it. Also breakfast finished at 11.30 yet the contents were available all day in cob form. No drinks menu available anywhere so I blindly ordered and then paid £6.40 for 2 hot chocolates - no cream or marshmallow just a spoonful of hot chocolate powder and some milk! Astronomical. On a plus side there was a whole page of VEGAN menu and vegan cakes etc so that was good. I was going to take my sister in law there, as she is vegan, but after the wait I don’t think I will. This used to be a great little place to grab a quick bite that was easy with the kids. We loved it and hope it returns to its former glory. Fingers crossed

Very quiet today Saturday 12th February. Service was with a smile, great place for a snack, can't find fault this place. Will be lovely to see the airplanes in better weather, beautiful murals on the Cafe walls 🙂

Been meaning to take my little boy here for a while now and finally got around to it today. I won't be returning. The food is over priced, coffee was absolutely disgusting (I tipped the whole mug away), service mediocre and I'd question hygiene standards. Such a shame as the cafe itself has the potential to be a brilliant little place. My little boy loved watching the planes land, re fuel and take off but unfortunately for me that was the best bit!

Fab little cafe with great viewing area of the runway. Such a pity there isn't a footpath from the canal but that is in no way the fault of Chocks.

A cheap and cheerful little cafe but the menu is very limited - would be nice to see a wider variety of options like there were pre-pandemic such as all day breakfasts, baked potatoes & panini’s etc. Staff are always friendly and polite.

We live 10 mins from this place and only by chance fell upon it. I was abit worried about walking in on my own, a women and child not knowing anything about it. But very welcoming, lovely cakes, great price and great for me and my daughter to sit and watch the planes taking off, filling up with fuel and generally practicing flying.

Flew in to get fuel on Sunday 11th July. Thought we’d grab a quick sandwich in the cafe as always happy to support small businesses. Busy outside but every table inside was free. Ordered a couple of cold sandwiches and a bowl of chips.At least four staff serving/cooking so no issues there you’d think…WRONG.After around 30 mins we were aware of a few customers asking how much longer their food would be. Ten minutes seemed to be the common answer. Ten minutes later it was still ten minutes.Around 45 minutes after ordering I enquired about our own order to be told….yes you’ve guessed it…ten minutes more.An hour gone and I enquired if it had even been started. The answer was that they were very busy and it would be …..yes you’ve guessed it…another ten minutes and no it hadn’t even been started yet. I asked for a refund for the food which was processed by the manager who explained they only have FOUR fryers! (Not that two sandwiches need a deep fat fryer).Absolute ridiculous lack of service. They need to inform people if there’s a substantial delay. People were also clearing their own tables outside as the young girls inside seemed oblivious to empty plates and used crockery.Unless you just want a drink from the fridge I’d give the place a wide berth. There’s plenty of very good airfield cafe’s within a reasonable flying distance of here so think carefully about your trip.

This used to be our favorite place for breakfast before covid and when I heard that it had shut down I was gutted. But when I heard they where reopening, I was genuinely ecstatic. It’s round the corner and had great views. Since reopening, the original menu has gone and been replaced with a massively reduced one, which has also gone up in price. The quality of the food was good and the lady was very polite, but, I really fear for this place. The old menu needs to return as I believe that’s what attracted people with there veggie and vegan options. I walked in exited to be back and walked out deflated that it had changed so much. I know there is a fine line in business at the moment with covid, but a few things need tweaking. Hope it goes back to normal

Slow service. The cook appears to only cook one ticket at once. Their very limited post covid menu is pretty much breakfast before 12 midday so why they can’t cook a batch of food and plate as required is anyone’s guess. 2 breakfasts and some additional toast took 55 minutes.The children’s area on the grass outside is now a fenced area with some picnic benches. The toys have gone from inside which is fine given the current climate but it’s lost it’s family friendly charm. Prices appear to have risen so it now makes it a considered attendance rather than on impulse.In order to survive the pace of service will need to pick up and bring prices down.

Lovely afternoon sitting outside watching the aircraft plus buzzards. Also heard a sky lark. I enjoyed coffee, toastie and cake.

Great little cafe run by nice people. Dog and vegan friendly, food good also, bonus! Lol Sadly revisted chocks away recently after eagerly awaiting it's reopening and massively disappointed. No vegan menu and a very small breakfast and lunch menu. What a shame 😔

Very unique location and nice, home like atmosphere. On a busy day, sunny day (in the airport) great place to spend lunch with kids.

Gutted my favourite little cafe has been closed by the Covid-19 pandemic. :( I really hope when this is over you can open again and welcome us back with fantastic home baked cakes and cooked breakfasts!

Visité aquí ya que tenía el día libre, quería un inglés completo y disfruto apoyando lugares más pequeños y locales.Yo era la única persona que allí, pero el personal era amable y cordial. A pesar de mis tentaciones, dejé el desayuno de Hércules solo y en su lugar fui por el jumbo más el pudín negro extra. Un poco de espera, pero eso es aceptable para mí y significa que la comida se cocina fresca.La comida era excelente cuando vine y el budín negro en particular fue realmente bueno. Allá arriba con mi favorito Stornaway.Si fuera exigente, tanto las salchichas como el tocino podrían estar un poco más cocidos. La grasa del tocino no era crujiente y las salchichas no eran lo suficientemente marrones.Dicho esto, nada me impidió devorar todo y bastante rápido. Vi algunos aviones mientras estaba sentado junto a la ventana también.¿Volveré? Si. Son 10 minutos más adelante y ciertamente se ajusta a la factura de lo que quería. Incluso podría ir por el Hércules la próxima vez, si me da mucha hambre.

Not a bad little cafe once you get past the tired decor of the old building. The food isn't bad, including a variety of vegan and vegetarian options, and the staff were quite friendly too. Great view over the small airfield to enjoy when the light aircraft are in action too. Overall a pleasant pit stop and not far from the main A52 if you're on a long trek.
