Rose and Crown in Rushcliffe

Stopped off on our way to Herefordshire. This pub is quite delightful and especially the hostess who was extremely friendly. We often wonder why pubs are run by people who dislike people but this place is the complete opposite. At last! The only reason I have given four rather than five stars is I noticed another couple paid after their meal and we were asked to pay before it. I prefer to run a tab so would have preferred the choice. If we are in the area again we would definitely stop and feed the swans and ducks as we did this time.

Called in for a meal after a walk, lovely pub, very friendly and great food and drink. The black pudding scotch egg was awesome. 😋

Beautiful homemade Sunday dinner. Food was hot. Beaufully cooked. Lots of vegetables. Pudding spot on. Girls were very good at their job 100%

Thought we should try this pub for Sunday lunch with the new owners, we was not disappointed ,brilliant bar staff lovely location plenty of parking and the pub decor is very nice. Fantastic pork Sunday dinner with all the trimmings and plenty of it too I rolled out the door, will be back soon many thanks.

Had mu 50th birthday celebrations here and we paid for a buffet and food was fantastic for about 40 people and the price was good and more than enough food staff r so friendly and a great atmosphere highly recommended it

Called in for Sunday lunch. Everything was absolutely lovely - Apart from the meat (beef) which was awful. Full of gristle and like elastic. We pointed it out to our waitress and got a "sorry". Will go again, but won't have the beef.

Excellent service and top roast dinner and pudding. Couldn't fault it.

Orderd blackpudding scotch egg came luke warm, changed to soup, that came with a solid frozen bread roll. Won't be visiting again!!

Warm and friendly welcome. There was 4 of us for the 12.30pm booking. The table was ready, drinks and the order were taken quickly. The Sunday Lunch was excellent, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious 😋 Excellent value for money and lovely staff. Well done I shall highly recommend you to friends and family.

One way back home from East Midlands Airport to our home and sat nav took us to this beautiful pub. Very good food I had the scampi and Wife had huge burger. Food served quickly staff friendly and ample parking outside. Also very good value for the food which was too a high standard and only about ten minutes from the Airport. Recommend you stop in if you’re hungry after returning. Plenty of natural light in the pub and pet friendly.

Stopped on off chance for Sunday lunch. Was very good. Had roast beef and turkey. Really really lovely. Good price. Staff very helpful and attentive. So glad we stopped.

Booked a table for 6 to celabrate my son in laws birthday meal. Heard good reviews as it has just newly referb very dissappointed Table not ready on arrival meal arrived after approx 40 mins of ordering i ordered salmon meal new potatoes and broccolli salmon was over cooked dry and potates what there was were tepid and burnt as for the veg it was raw uncooked . I was.nt the only one to complain but this is my personal review i will never recommened this place to any of my family or friends we travelled over 50 miles to eat here very very dissappointed prices are rediculous for what you get

Lovely small village pub. You could tell everyone knew everyone, but didn’t put us off from staying and eating. Food was nice. Service was a bit slow, however, I believe the new owners haven’t been there long and they were very apologetic (we didn’t mind anyway).

This used to my local twenty years ago and was brilliant......since then it's been passed from one bad landlord to another.......been back tonight and really feel the new owners have started off on the right track.....lovely atmosphere n the food was bang on point......good luck guys we'll be coming back

Lovely little pub by the canal. Food was tasty and service was prompt. Great place to park up and go for a country walk before tucking into a meal or a pint!

Stumbled across this pub today thanks to Google Maps taking us a very obscure route to our destination. Glad it did. Staff so friendly and the food choices wide and varied. Really pleased with our food, service and the bill. What a pub should be. Thanks for refuelling us!

Pub and setting lovely. Poor food quality and disappointing content One person only working there & she was sour and rude and stony faced. Go elsewhere until staff changed and food prepared by someone else. Nice outside setting

You made us wait an hour for 2 scotch eggs that were raw. Then when we complained we were told we are wrong. This is to a chef, and an ex butcher .. I think we know what cooked pork is its not a surprise that so many managers have left 🤔

New owners doing a great job, fresh quality real ales and good selection of lagers and ciders if that's your thing. Nice pub with lovely Riverside beer garden. You can moor your narrowboat at the pub. Great staff too, very welcoming.

Had the most delicious and freshly cooked lunch. Just called in whilst on a walk and greeted really warmly. Apparently it’s under new management and owner was a chef who believes in cooking food freshly. Absolutely delicious, will certainly go back!

You know it's good when the plate ends up scraped clean. Nice, friendly new owners, great beer, great food and a nice view of the canal.

New managers really kind and helpful. We moored up with our boat last week and they were really accommodating and generous and oh my goodness their dog is so gorgeous! It's a lovely spot.

Popped in for the use of the toilet on way from airport, felt cheeky but was greeted with a lovely smile from the new managers, thank you so much and I wish you well with your new venture, I'm sure you will make a brilliant go off it.

If I could leave no stars I would. We waited 20 mins after ordering to be told there was no steak. We only found out cause I went to bar to get a drink and I was told there. We then waited another 20 mins to order again as no one came over. I had to knock on the kitchen door and ask to order. The chef was laughing with the waitress who was just stood there eating. My daughters jacket potato came out rock hard. I told the waitress who said she would tell chef. We waited to see if we would be offered another but no one came. So we shared our meal with our daughter. We asked for the bill and I’m glad I checked. We were charged for 2 steaks that never turned up! Would not recommend. It was so much better with the last people who ran the place. Never had a bad meal in there till now. Better the devil you know.

My wife and I stopped for a bit of lunch I had ham egg chips and peas and she had scampi chips and peas a coffee and a pint. Came out hot well presented and good quality.

This pub has become very rundown. Food is more like a transport cafe menu than that of a restaurant. Such a shame.as.it used to be so nice.

Had lunch at the Rose and Crown Inn with two ex work friends. The canal-side setting was lovely. Hot sunshine and a cool breeze across the water. The drinks were good, the food delicious, and the bar staff were friendly and efficient. A very pleasant, well decorated and comfortable country pub, with plenty of parking space. Highly recommended.

The place has good reviews so we thought we'd stop. Not a good idea. No hot food or even cold food. Shot staffed and looking for a publican. Oh well, maybe ext time.

My family and I did a bit of a walk along the river and crossed over to get some drinks at The Rose and Crown. The staff are nice but the quality of drink and the ambiance leave a lot to be desired. I had an Old Mout Cider that was on tap and it had a sulfer (rotten egg) like undertone to it. I could only take three drinks before I gave up on it. I enjoy older pubs and actually prefer them to the renovated modern ones every has done over covid but it's less old man pub and alot more general dingy unfortunately.

We called in for a drink and snack. Unfortunately we were 2 minutes late to get anything from the kitchen so had to make do with just a drink. It was nice enough fo a pub and seemed clean. Shame I cannot make any comments about the food.

Great location, good bar staff

Called and told to book, no need as plenty of empty tables. Staff were polite, but menu was very limited. Meals were dry and not as hot as they could have been. No-one asked how our food was or followed up being served. We had already decided we would not have a desert, just as well as none were offered.

Lovely and we could take our fur baby in. Happy days.

Stopped in for something to eat and was extremely pleased with the food and service. Greatly priced for the food that we had and staff were great - couldn’t do enough for you. Will definitely be returning at a later date.

Driving past this quainlt little pud on Sunday 27/3/22 we thought we would stop for a late lunch as it was still open (2pm) and seemed to have a fairly full patronage. However, when we got inside we were told 'Sorry, no more lunch left' in a rather curt manner even though there were plenty of empty tables. What a disappointment!!!! We weren't wanting a Sunday carvery, just something off the regular menu! Sad to say, the rather 'cold' reception put us off from returning there in the future.

We found this lovely place on an app called pubwalks. We parked up and went on the couple mile circular walking trail nearby, then stopped off at the Rose and Crown beer garden for a beer before heading home. The staff inside were lovely, friendly and helpful. The prices were good, toilets more than satisfactory. The beer garden is lovely, overlooking the canal and fields. Recommended stop!

A very pleasant canal-side hostelry. Their breakfasts are well presented, tasty and excellent value for money.

Visited today with my husband and two children as we walked in there is a notice says to wait to be seated bar staff was to busy talking to notice we were standing which was right in front of her until I said excuse me are u serving food got told no food Monday and Tuesday only cold cobs and this is not specialized on the website or anywhere on the premises. Very disappointed and will not be visiting again. Plus would have been nice as my children have celiac disease and not many places do gluten free opinion.
