Way overpriced. Bought a large cod and got a stringy bit of tail end. Green & black is supposed to be chocolate makers, not how your chips come out. Never again.

Quality was excellent, worth 5 stars, a tad expensive. But I guess you pay for, I ordered via Deliveroo and the Items were £2 more expensive each, which is a shame

Be prepared to wait 15-20 mins past your collect time and then have to warm the fish in the air fryer and chips in the microwave after they’ve sat on top of the fryers for 10 mins while the rest of the order is prepared. Not cheap but the quality used to be worth the money and the wait. Alas, this is no longer the case.

Our go-to chippy every Friday night. Plenty of staff and a well organised ordering system. Their prices are reasonable compared to our more local fish shop and the meal deal is excellent value. 5-star!

Ordered a kebab and chips and fish and chips the chips came but no kebab or fish it was also late and when I rang to explain this 1st time experience with them they said it happens well its not exceptable, so be sure to ring before hand so they definitely do dish up all your food you're paying for or you may be waiting over an hour and a half for one half a meal and a rubbish explanation.

Regular chip shop use often but this last time the chips were rock hard mostly inedible even when soaked in gravy, unfortunately a waste of money!

First time at this outlet chips 100,% the best I have in a long while come from down south was told double fried and certainly were crispy and soft inside fish obviously haddock a true favourite of mine and done my favourite way skin on nice crispy batter fish and chips done correctly will I be back I most definitely WILL

I've always used this chip shop. After the last few times, tonight will be my last. What is it about portion sizes? You no longer do small portions. I unwrapped my food. It went straight in the bin. There was far too much on my plate. Even trying to sort a smaller portion put me off.

Really nice food! Asked for battered bits as there was no chicken meat, (this was pretty much last order on Uber eats which made sense why there was no chicken marinade left) And yea they gave me battered bits which they didn’t need to do, sometimes its the little things that create the bigger picture and these guys always seem to do it right. Awesome food, awesome staff, you pay for what you get. Awesome. Been ordering from here for years and will continue to do so.

We have had Kebabs and chips from here over the last year while visiting in Ruddington and each time we are blown away by the volume of food each time - such great value & the food is cooked to perfection in our view. If there were Michelin Stars available for establishments like this then they should get at least 2 if not 3 in our opinion! I would sum up with this thought - the next day after eating a meal of kebab and chips from here, my belt buckle blew open!! I didn't feel hungry for days!! Belt Bustlingly Banging!!

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had from a chip shop, the chips are the best, way above any other chippy, and the fish was lovely, perfect batter, and I never order fish as it never normally appeals to me, but this was fantastic, I now understand why there are always queues of people in here, definitely worth going a bit further for quality chips, I’m in Clifton

Definitely the best chippy south of the river. Great sized haddock and the chips are cooked to perfection. Their mixed Chicken Naan is out of this world too. Combine it with a visit to one of Rudds great pubs👌

Normally quite good in terms of quality and price, today is was pretty awful. The choice of potatoes this time of year affects the quality of the chips - and they were greasy and quite soggy. The fish wasn't a bit greasy and not very hot. Overall, I have had much better.

Very expensive and kebab very cold and the salad in it was very spars. The meat was very tough as if it had been standing for a couple of hours. Only option was a large no small. We also ordered fish and chips and two fish cakes, when we open it we was missing one fish cake. To far to go back for a fish cake. This place used to be very good but gone down hill since the new owners. Don't think they will be getting my custom again, £35 should have gone to Aldi and got my weekly shop.

Not impressed. Staff wasn't listening properly to order, then your dictated to as to what to order cos they are pushing the meal deals, wanted small kebab they said they only do Large but when we got it home it was very small and all squashed together, didn't look appetising at all. Sausage was very over cooked. Won't be going back. Ruddington chippy used to be the best about years ago, it's not now.

Quality and portion sizes have become very poor over the last few months. A regular cod now more akin to a fish finger. Sometimes get order wrong too, tonight we were a portion of chips short, and as we can't really see what staff are putting into the bag, when the shop is full, there isn't the space to check they've got the order right. Fish and chips are no longer a cheap take away and its very disappointing to be paying more for lower quality, smaller sized fish, and poor service. We may not make the 10 mile round trip to come here for our fish and chips anymore.

Ive been ordering from here for years, weather it be fish & chips(the fish is always fresh and the twice chips are amazing). The Kebab (cooked beautiful and great generous portions and very tasty). The pizzas with that great base topped with generous portions and so tasty. we will not order from anywhere else. never let us down and im a fussy eater

Iam sorry to leave this review but I have lived in ruddington 50+ years it’s been through a lot of change and owners but this small kebab is small I asked for small but £7.49 for 11 strips of second rate meat as kababs are the smallest pita bread ever and salad from the reduced section in coop …. I understand the cost of living effects us all but come on ……

Ordered food through just eat called the fish bar to ask where it is owner denied all responsiblity for it and said to contact just eat. Customer service appalling. They were not willing to listen or to replace. They will take your money but will not help he kept passing the buck to just eat. HOW BAD IS THAT. May lose 23.00 quid as the juat driver put on the app that he has delivered. NEVER WILL I USE JUST EAT OR RUDDINGTON FISH BAR

Spot on first class fish and chips. 3 kinds of kebab. pizzas and sundrys

Although parking during the day is hit and miss, the shop itself is perfectly OK. The fish and chips are excellent. When I last visited (during the day, when I miraculously found somewhere to park), they cooked to order, and it was fresh and tasty. The staff are nice and friendly. I usually go at night when I am driving home and I know I'll (probably) be able to park - though it depends on whether there is something going on at the church, which takes up all the parking.

They physically can’t put fish and chips in a bag together maybe it was out of there capability but when you order fish and chips you expect to get a fish and then to blame the 3rd party for your mistakes is just unacceptable

I walked into the chip shop, approx 10 kids behind the counter serving, I waited and waited and waited, not once I was approached by one of them to say one moment sir . I’ll be with you in a minute. Very poor customer service.

Food is always great here but our last takeaway was dissapointing. We ordered fish bites that might as well have been called batter bites. There was hardly any fish in them. We usually order a mixed kebab which is lovely. Won't be having the fish bites again.

I live in Clifton I used to go to one in it went downhill so fast so I went back there the food is amazing quote well not fast service and I ate it all and the staff are lovely it takes a long time to get a nice chip shop I used to travel to Kirkby-in-Ashfield just so now it's save me a few well done keep the good work up although it's not very cheap but you only pay for what you get

Quick service despite busy......quality and quantity of food

Worst service ever, we were told our order would be 5-6 mins, it took 45mins, staff were ignoring other customers trying to complain about the times for their orders, absolutely avoid like the plague, drive to Keyworth or West Bridgford for a quicker and better service, they don't deserve to have a business in Ruddington, wouldn't even give the service 1* if I had a choice. Terrible service and they didn't even seem to care.

Went for fish and chips, asked for fresh fish as I was served. When I got home a 5 min drive the fish was really cold so definitely not cooked fresh. Had from here before and usually good. Very disappointed!

Waited 40 minutes for cod and chips. 40 MINUTES !!! Absolutely ridiculous, and just a shrug of the shoulders. No apology, nothing. They are too busy dealing with the on-line orders and pay little attention to the visiting customer.

Went for fish and chips at 8:30 , 30 minutes before close. Don’t fry at this time so no fish, gougons . Suggest closing earlier rather than turn custom away. Cod’s scollops next time

Excellent takeaway. Amazing Crispy but deliciously soft chips, pizzas were amazing. Very well organised staff. Very impressed with my order and the service. Kebab meat on the pizza was good quality and the pizza base is very good quality.

Ordered 3 large fish 2 large chips 2 large peas 1 kebab,fish was long and thin and overcooked ,chips seem more like a small portion for one person.kebab broke into pieces and full of salad.real shame as used to be our favourite chippy ,far to expensive quality has dropped .real shame.

It's my favourite chippy but tonight my chicken meat was raw.. Shame. Too many school kids behind the counter when it's busy and clearly rushed the meat.

Food is good, bit pricey, but understandable in current climate. One thing though, staff are not always fully attentive or concentrate on what's going on, order in the shop, but got home and 1 x fish missing, partner had to confirm the order several times,when asked what is was we were having, bit disappointed

Terrible service tonight. After a long wait I asked where my order was and it had been missed. Other customers came in after me and left with their order. Thankfully no quibble about issuing a refund. But bizarrely no apology. I try and support local businesses. I wonder whether I should.

Portions half the size of what they used to be and almost half the price more expensive. The mixed meat and chips I had the other night was tiny and over 8 quid! A large haddock, large chips and mushy peas £15.50!!!! Come on guys get real…. Now more economical to go to the Chinese than this chip shop. Used to be people queuing out the door for this place but not at the minute. I won’t be going back now until they have taken a serious look at their pricing, I’ll be going to the Chinese who have managed to maintain their prices more reasonably in this tough economic climate.

*EDIT* Going by ratings wasn't impressed 😒 especially when got home and realised they'd forgot a portion of chips that we had paid for no point ringing them by the time you've got home it's not worth going back. If you order online and collect check your order before leaving. Lesson learned. Edit! they refunded my account for the missing item so 5 stars for a professional response.

Wonderful service, lad that served us had excellent customer service. Love the fish had the haddock and plaice, both cooked to perfection with light coating of batter.

Bought 2 haddock meals which included either peas, beans or salad and cost £7.79 each. The meal was a good size portion, will definitely buy again.

I no longer live in the U.K. and you can’t seem to buy Kebab meat on its own like you can here so I had Donna Meat Chips & Gravy & I didn’t leave a thing. Chips were crisp & brown just how I like them. This is the best chipper in Ruddington/Clifton or Gotham and worth a drive out😉

Had the haddock, chips and peas for a quick lunch. Very good guality and value.

Prices have shot up through the roof. Regular haddock now 5.99 which was the price of large not long ago. Shameless mark ups on food prices. Large chips 4.79 is a joke they're no better than anywhere else and are just chipped potatoes. Lastly the size of the small chicken kebab was laughable. The portion size was so tight compared to the recent past. Simply not good enough food for the prices charged. Will not be giving any more custom to this chippy.

Chips on the cold side ? Staff not very friendly. Any one with disabilities should stay clear of Ruddington fish bar . As to gain access , you have to get up two large steps and there is no support handle to steady your self getting in the bar , the same on the way out ! My wife nearly fell down the steps ! I thought that shops had to provide easy access for the disabled? Not worth their salt ! Won't be going back .

Very high standards of food and very friendly staff

Possibly the best fish and chips in Great Britain! Chips are double cooked and crispy. The fish is in a light crispy batter. You can pre order on their app to pick up at a time specified by you. Better than most seeside chippys!

Very over priced and the kebab meat was dry and hard. 2 out of the 3 people that ate it had a bad tummy a few hours later. Very disappointing will not eat here again

Visited twice in the last month or so really disgusted with the service and the quality of the fish n chips Earlier this month when everyone was supposed to be wearing face covering half the staff had the mask around the their chin at my last visit 11/02/22 only 1 person was wearing a face covering and on both occasions the fish was covered in rock hard batter over cooked and dry and half of the chips was rock hard... I won't be visiting again anytime soon...
