The deluxe room we paid for wasn’t as displayed on the website. The bedding was stained, glasses and cutlery were also dirty. We found forks and knives behind the cupboards and the bathroom was a state, half a toilet roll and no soap to wash hands with or shampoo for the shower. Not very deluxe.

So let’s start with the positive. The bed was relatively comfy and the room came with mini soaps and shower gels. Free car parking. Unfortunately this is where it ends. The decor is very tired and dated. The carpets are worn and showing signs of cigarette burns and stains. The room has been repainted at some point but in a very amateurish fashion. They didn’t bother to remove the artwork off the wall so smeared paint on the frames. The tv screen was secured to its frame with sellotape. The window in the room opened to a rooftop but there were lots of cigarette butts sitting very close to the window ledge. Evidence of previous occupants smoking out of the window that has been left by hotel staff, rather than cleaned. The bathroom was just as bad, the light switch hanging off its wires rather than the rose being attached to the ceiling. Behind the sink looked like it had not been cleaned in some time while in the loo was evidence of a previous occupants skids. The shower was either steaming hot, or off, with no adjustment working. I was there with work so stuck in the room for the evening. However there was no chair or desk in the room. The hotel also locks up at 10pm so I was unable to work late (my employer is a 24hr operator) Wi-Fi was intermittent but this isn’t a deal breaker for me although I know it would be for some.

Easily the worst hotel we have ever stayed at! Apparently the building is 400 years old, the carpets look and smell like they may be about the same age. Very ropey old joint, I can think of any circumstance under which I'd recommend this place. We had 2 rooms and were unable to get the shower to the correct temperature in either of them. The whole place smells of old carpet and the general standard of cleanliness is poor. Just not good enough. If you have to go to Wisbech, please find somewhere else to stay even if it's out of town. (has to be said, Mario the manager was a very nice guy who is doing his best under difficult circumstances)

The place is falling apart.Stains in the bed, no pillow case, hole in celing, 1 window with no curtains onto high street, dirty room not cleaded dust everywhere dried paint in several places on the carpet, windows rotten paint come off and wood rotten away, no tea coffee. Place has been bought buy and Egiptian muslim i presum as the bar has been shut, but this is England and people expect a bar in a hotel to sit and relax and even if only having a coffee or a drink or 2 before bed,. The few staff that are there are great but they need many more to run efficiently, but i feel he is holding out to turn the place into a hostel for refugees to cash in, he should be refussed the licence due to neglect thats happing now which will only get worse

Staff were great, room supposed to be deluxe, far from it !! Stain on curtains, cobwebs on curtain track wallpaper peeling, room furniture that a second hand shop would throw out, black mould around bottom of shower, no hot food available,. . Where do I start. Apart from trying to get to the fourth floor to a family room with 2 children pushchair 3 holdalls and numerous bags for baby with no lift. In for a 3 night stay. TV didn't work for lack of remote when asked was told some had been stolen. Leak from sink, bath panel held on with sellotape. Kettle on floor as lead doesn't reach far enough. Dirt on mirror stains on bedside tables. My personnel favourite was 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel. Was told deliveries were not sent back complete. The new owner has stopped food being served, closed bar and doors shut at 10pm. The only saving grace at this establishment is the manager Mario. He is very helpful and kind. He would be a great lose as he is the person that keeps the hotel going. He needs a bloody medal.

The first room they went to put me in had been broken into and used, apparently by one of homeless people the hotel was being paid to accommodate. The room they put me in next was a normal room and not a suite(which is what I booked). The cleanliness of the room was absolutely discusting. The throw over the foot of the bed and the two throw pillows were dirty and stained, the floor hadn't been hovered in a long time and there was dirt all over the floor in both the bedroom and bathroom, the light switches for the lamps had about 10 years worth of dirt and grime on them, and the bathroom wasn't far off of looking like something out of horror movie with the toilet being stained and nasty and the whole thing being tarnished and run down. I seriously considered leaving and sleeping in my car but ended up sleeping fully clothed above the covers and leaving first thing in the morning. The only good thing about this place was the service, the guy at the front desk was very kind and friendly, and very apologetic when the first room turned out the way that it did.

The price of the executive rooms are extortionate for what you get. The room was very run down smelt of sewage and dirty. After complaining about the cleanliness we were told that it would be deep cleaned the next day while we were at work. The deep clean was a joke. Making the bed and removing the used towels in the bathroom. Not only did the manager lie to us he also walked around the hotel with no mask and entered our rooms with no mask or regards to our safety.

Really love this hotel. It's like a large crooked house due to parts of it being over 400 years old. Crooked stairs, sloping floors. It's really quirky and we love it. It's a shame it's in the centre of Wisbech so you will see and hear noisy locals! However, the breakfast is good and the staff are all lovely. Bed is comfortable and shower is good. Stayed here on business. Nice place, the staff are friendly, food was nice. A couple of things was that a poor chap was the only one in to deal with breakfast which made it slow, but he was helpful and pleasant however lack of staff did upset some people. The room was ok, tired decor, mostly clean except under the bed was a bit dusty. The bed itself was clean as was the bathroom and general areas. Fairly quiet but an old building so a little noise between room and corridor to be expected. Would I stay here again..? Yes I would.

I've never walked out of anywhere when just receiving our food. Unfortunately this was the case at the rose and crown. We ordered 3 sandwich which was all served on bread that had been defrosted as a couple of slices was still frozen. When sent back to be re done. The tuna sandwich was inedible, no mayo as was described on the menu, no butter on any of the sandwich and was also question as didn't taste like tuna at all. Chips undercook.... So we had to pay for our drinks that we didn't drink and we left. Staff was polite enough but when asked why bread was hard was told it was toasted.. NO JUST NO. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't go back.

Every table was filthy, stained table cloths, crumbs from previous guests. No glasses for juice, the breakfast buffet was appalling - eggs and bacon swimming in grease, everything else congealed. I wasn't offered anything else so I assumed that was all that was on offer. My breakfast consisted of cereal and toast. Getting a second cup of coffee was a chore. Visited Café X mid-morning on 09/09/2020. Café have a good Covid-19 protection system in place whereby you order at the main entrance window, & your food is handed out another window. The lady who served us was also friendly and helpful. I order the SMALL breakfast, that as you can see on the menu is £7.00. Plastic cutlery. Coffee is disappointing Instant Coffee, although it is advertised as Instant. The toast had no flavour whatsoever and tasted like cheap nasty budget wholemeal bread. It really was rank. Possibly reheated. Not enough butter either. The egg wasn't runny, it looked like it had been flipped over or possibly even reheated, it was fairly tough. The bacon was unsmoked and although it was nice and thick, it was fairly fatty and tasted cheap quality / greasy. The hash brown and black pudding, yeah OK I guess, but I have had way better. Now, I could forgive all this if the price reflected the quality of the product. But it doesn't. Much too expensive for poor quality food. If this has cost me £4.00 I probably wouldn't quibble as the cost and quality would match somewhat. We won't be eating here again, we had slightly dicky stomachs afterwards too. It is a shame, as if you bought better quality produce, got a far better chef, kept the prices the same and made the presentation better, you would have a roaring repeat customer base given you are situated on the A47. But im sorry, as you are, it's far too disappointing.
