We called the maitings for half and hour 17 times with no responses. I am starving simply shocking.

Young lad on the phone is the goat of phone calls - thank you:) Food was 10/10 as well v happy big up the maltings happy customers 💚💚💚

Delivery was quick for a Saturday evening (ordered 19:30, arrived 20:10). Ordered vegetable mini rolls and quarter aromatic duck. Vegetable mini rolls tasted nice just a bit cold. Quarter aromatic duck was let down by the very salty hoisin sauce, major let down and ruined the dish!

Ordered salt and Pepper ⁰chips,1portion of large pancake rolls and a hose special chow mein. The salt and Pepper chips were nice,the pancake rolls were tasteless and bland as if they hadn't been seasoned and the batter was under choked on the inside, the chow mein was also bland and tasteless, not seasoned(thank god i had some soy sauce and fish sauce at home !!) No pork just prawns,slimey chicken and beef as if it had been boiled and not fried to bring out the taste. Really disapointed and won't be going back.

It was very hot outside when I walked in it was very cool and refreshing , a lovely young man welcomed me at the front desk with a nice smile and asked me how my day was ( his name was Preston ) he asked me what I was feeling and gave me some recommendations and then once I ordered told me it would be out quick and fresh , it took around 3-4 minutes and came out hot and fresh , it tasted wonderful and made my night . This experience was amazing all thanks Preston at the front desk

All of the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. I have to appluad preston Smith who I believed cooked my chicken with salt and pepper. I must say this is one of the best Chinese I have ever had

The best chinese I have had in the uk and I have tried many from Scotland to most of the one's in London, Honestly it's absolutely gorgeous, would highly recommend, also 1st time trying it and had to go back and get more it's 😍😍😍😍 the staff are amazing too 🙌🙌🙌

Order here whenever we get Chinese Takeaway. Never had any issues, always fast and efficient, same prices as others in area and food always good / hot.

Simply the best takeaway for Chinese food. They are located on the edge of a carpark so access is brilliant. Great menu range including a good selection of specials which make an excellent meal for one. We'll worth a visit if you want great cooked Chinese food. I always collect but I know they also deliver.

It's the first time we have ordered from this takeaway (on just eat). I chose it as it has a 5 star hygiene rating. The food was delivered very quickly, less than an hour and we can't fault the food. The curry was full of flavour, chicken was tender and there was plenty for lunch the next day. We even enjoyed the prawn crackers which normally goes in the bin. We will order from here again.

It’s such a shame, the maltings used to be a great takeaway, but I think they must have changed owners a while ago I have given it another chance 4 times in the last year or more tbh prob since before covid and it’s never decent regardless of what time or day. The food is either disgusting or stone cold and horrible.

Not good at all. The sweet and sour chicken balls were very doughy and under cooked, very poor quality and a bland meal overall, we left most of it. Very disappointed.

Used to be great but recently, the quality has dropped. Very watery, and the taste has changed. Also, every time we order, there's always something missing from the order. Now when we order, we guess what's going to be left off. Tonight, we have visitors and placed an order. The order arrived with 2 items missing. When I telephoned I discovered one of the missing items was my fault. However, I was asked if they could credit me the missing item that was their fault. I said no because we had guests and it wasnone of the guests' meal. They agreed to cook it and send it round asap. I asked if they could also do the item I'd missed and she asked for my card details. I said after all the missing items we've had I thought they'd do it as a gesture of goodwill. She went to ask her manager who said no. The missing order eventually turned up 30 minutes later. There's an expression that landlords use just before closing time, "Last Orders", unfortunately this will be mine.

So bad most of our order went in the bin. Both meals we're overcooked and had very strange taste after a few bites neither of us could eat any more. Definitely will not go there again

Have held off writing a review about Maltings but, the time has come. I always used to get food here..it was always consistently good. Good portions, well cooked and tasty....then, disaster...for some reason it all went pear shaped. Food became greasy to undercooked or tough as a Dr. Martens sole....they put prices up and service got worse, quality got worse and the girls on the desk are more interested in their damn mobile phones than working....gone from 5 stars down to 1 star and they only got one star because NO STARS isn't an option.

The chicken was frozen and you could tell it wasn’t fresh chicken as I’ve brought the same from Iceland before 🤦🏼‍♀️ The chips may as well been a bag of grease and the chips where so crispy and greasy you just couldn’t eat them. We then had egg fried rice and when it turned up it was brown not impressed as the order was 23 quid and just eat took a service charge for a service in my opinion we didn’t receive

Thought I would try the food here after trying most Chinese takeaways in Whittlesey, this one is by far the worst. Everything was over cooked, had to sort through the chips to find some decent ones, there wasn't many! Prawn toast was like card bord and the chow mein was tasteless and over cooked. Also chicken in the sweet and sour Cantonese style was really cooked and chewy. When I got there to collect there was no Chinese person in sight, just a young teenage girl messing about and giggling with her mates that were in the kitchen. Doesn't look good really. I have written this review as honestly as possible. I would avoid it and go to mandarin around the corner!

As a regular customer we knew we had to order early as they get busy on deliveries, so we must’ve been amongst the first to order through at 2 mins to 5 and still waited 1 hour 45 for the delivery to arrive! After phoning on 2 occasions to chase we were told, firstly after 1 hour of waiting they were waiting for the driver to come back and just finishing it off and it will be on its way. 2nd after 1 hour 20 I was told they were busy to which I responded we were the first order, to then be told they waited for another order to be done as it was in the same area and it would save the driver coming again, so we were lied to twice!! After eventually arriving 1 hour 45 minutes later the food wasn’t overly hot upon delivery and spoiled the occasion as it wasn’t the same or as nice as normal. I have to believe the food was made ready but then waited for the other order to be cooked as it wasn’t hot or fresh at all.

First time visit, reading some of the recent reviews I was a bit apprehensive. I needn’t of been worried the food was flavoursome, prepared quickly and a good temperature. It did appear a little expensive but when I saw the size of the portions it actually represented very good value.

Absolutely vile , food got delivered after 3 hours 3 bloody hours , not impressed off the back , but gave it a chance as it might have been tasty ... boy was I wrong . The people who work here should be ashamed to the core serving rotten i repeat ROTTEN chicken , I ordered stir fried Vegatables for my vegetarian fiancée , she is vegan for health reason not by choice , she found a slither of chicken which doesn’t sound like much but was enough to make her sick , atleast her vomit tasted better than you food . DO NOT GO HERE AT ALL COSTS DISGRACEFULL FOOD

SHOCKING! waited over 2 hours for delivery, called to chase delivery after 1 hour to be fed a load of lies ? ordered from SILVER RIVER locally and got great food delivered in 15 mins !

Got food poision here yesterday

Ordered a bento box of shedded beef as this is normally my favourite from here, the rice was stuck to the sides like it had been microwaved and the shedded beef did not taste right. I also ordered bbq ribs that were cold and had a white layer over them from where the fat had run cold on them. This is normally my favourite takeaway but since they have changed the menu i shall not be returning.

First off the food didn't taste bad, it was just weird. Chow mein was bland, no evidence of being cooked in a wok. Chicken in black bean SAUCE completely lacked in SAUCE, as with a pork dish. Chicken balls tasted previously frozen and old/freezer burnt. Chips tasted as if they have been repeatedly fried. Also, placed our order on the website and requested delivery for 7pm as we had friends arriving at 6:30 but recieved our order an hour and 5 minutes early, which resulted in cold food by the time our friends arrived. Very under par meal and won't be returning.

The takeaway looked the part when I went to pick up my food. Clean and friendly staff and you can now see into the kitchen while your food is prepared. I think the cook must have changed. My salt and pepper prawns had no salt and pepper on them and came from a huge freezer bag ( I watched the cooks tip them in the fryer). The chow mein was bland. Sorry but I won't be back.

Very disappointed the spare ribs are only a 1/4 of the size of portion sinc the refurbishment and very fatty, and fir some reason a bit if lettuce in the box, won't be going there again!😩

Ordered Red Thai Beef. Had Green Peppers not red and carrots. They don't grow carrots in Thailand (been there - so not authentic!) Partner ordered crisp chicken - swam in a sauce. So soggy not crispy when she opened the lid. Salty not sweet taste she said. Refused to eat more after initial bite.

New to the area tried this takeaway for the first time this evening. Pleasantly surprised - really good quality food. Well worth the slight more expensive prices.

Told my order would be hour and a half..rang after this time to be told it had gone out on a multi drop...driver arrived 30 mins later. Told me he had come staight from shop..started to eat meal..luke warm..rang shop to be told as i had eaten some i would be offered 10% of next order...didnt help that they put cold bottle of drink in with it..will not order again

In the past 6 months they've raised the price of their soya bites twice and now they've more than halved the portion size for the same price! An absolute joke. Don't waste your money on this disgustingly extortionate place. We were ordering twice a week on average at £25+ a time, completely lost our business, and our family and friends! Extortionating people who don't want to eat meat, disgusting.

Had a lovely Chinese from here a few weeks ago, it has become a new favourite to order from, hot tasty food and good portion sizes, would recommend.

Restaurant has increased their prices by 16% since I last ordered. Therefore unfortunately will not be ordering from here again.

This is the best Chinese take away in Whittlesey. Portion sizes are great. They do always have a long wait period so order about an hour before you need it in busy periods. Highly recommended

Last night me and my partner drove from Peterborough to get some of our favourite soya bites straight from my 12.5 hour shift. When we arrived we realized they closed at 10 in the winter not 10:30. They saw us outside and after realising we'd drove from Peterborough let us in and cooked our favourite Peking soya bites and salt and pepper soya bites. What a kind thing to do it made our night and they were amazing! Thank you to that lovely owner who still let us in. Kind regards Daniella and Dan

Terrible greasy food. I had to take the food back we didn't eat as proof we weren't happy. Got half of my money back after a lengthy argument with the owner. Would deffinatley NOT recommend.

All the time I lived in whittlesey never had a Chinese from the makings well I must say very impressed with our chimes meal for 1very tasty good value for money highly recommend

If l could have given 0 stars l would have. The Maltings was our preferred takeaway when last used 6 months ago, apparently it has changed owner since we used it last. We have since seen some bad reports in recent months. We ordered crispy aromatic duck with the pancakes, special chicken with cashew nuts and yellow bean sauce plus vegetable chow mein. The duck which we normally love was terrible it was greasy aromatic duck. Not cooked enough no crispy skin which meant the duck fat made the meat so greasy. The chicken with cashew nuts and yellow bean sauce was bland chicken with bamboo shoots and a few cashew nuts but completely tasteless. The chow mein was so greasy we could not eat it. Disgusting food we will not be using this place again. Change the name from The Maltings to The Grease Palace would be my suggestion. It used to be a very good takeaway but the current owners and chef have turned it into a no go area.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS, the chips were undercooked and the meat was sour. When I called I spoke to an incompetent staff member who was unable to help and did not even sound like she was bothered I then asked for a refund or for them to redo the order as the food was awful and they refused and could not help. I would of rather of burnt the money than given it to possibly the worst food place I have ever eaten from.

The Maltings is a Chinese takeaway which, previously, we could not praise highly enough. Do not know what has changed, perhaps the cook, but our most recent purchase was not very good. Ribs were burnt but the worst was that everything tasted of fat. They need to get back to where they were.

Fantastic evening at the Panto. Beauty and the Beast, great family time out, well worth watching, good cast and crew. If the theme is the same for other shows, it is one to watch out for. We will return in Spring for another performance and Christmas again.

We have ordered our takeaway twice June and both times were superb. Well cooked and huge portions. The Mixed starters for two would feed four as a main meal with some rice. These starters include chicken balls like no other we have ever tried. Thoroughly reccommened

I would not say this is the best takeaway in Whittlesey - there is little between any of them, they are all ok, only used this place once, was good, large portions I should say, would use again.

Just had my meal delivered after waiting almost 2hrs and it's cold and disgusting and there response is sorry the driver had a lot of deliveries!! Not good enough and will not use again.

Always really yummy food, big portions, well priced. Chicken chow mein is a favourite and they use really big nice bits of chicken, not chewy chicken like some other chow Meins that I have tried in Whittlesey. Any special instructions I have (e.g no onions) they follow perfectly, never had a problem.

A menudo el uso del chino en una noche entre semana maltings. Hemos estado utilizando el Maltings ahora por 2 años y siempre me parece muy generoso con sus raciones. Por menos de 30 libras. 00 normalmente los piensos 6 adultos con sobrantes de comida. Orden listas 20 minutos después de haberlo pedido en días laborables.

He de decir que esta es la mejor comida para llevar china Whittlesey tiene para ofrecer. Los alimentos entregados rápidamente y aún caliente. La comida es buenísima y siempre de buena calidad. Pruébalo, no te decepcionará.

This Chinese is by far the best in town great food and service every time no matter how busy they are also great value for money

In terms of the food itself, easily the best Chinese takeaway in Whittlesey in my opinion. But many agree and it's incredibly popular which means you always have to wait twice as long for collection or delivery than any of the other takeaways in the town. If you're patient it's well worth the wait. If you're hungry or in a hurry there are at least three others within a five minute walk that'll serve you in half the time.

We ordered for 3 hungry adults and it cost 19.00. We could have fed 6 hungry adults. Amazing value and the food was excellent. Definitely will visit again when coming to Whittlesey.

First Class Take Away! This is the best in the area. Have had several meals all have been spot on. ..We highly recommend this take away.

I have used this take away 3 times now and each time the service is very slow. I usually go in to order so you know its going to be fresh. The quality of the food is faultless and the portions are plentiful, but it always seems to take up-to an hour to get a meal for 3-4 people. The last visit I was told the food would be ready in 25 mins but after 45 mins I had to ask where it had got to, only for my order to be retaken to check, which led me to think it wasn't even started! Lots of others also having same problem, even after phoning the order through in advance.If this kind of service is to continue they are sure to lose customers to the many rival takeaways Whittlesey has to offer.

We came in from a weekend away starving Hungrey and wanted something quick so we phoned for a Take Away, The service was first class thw menu choices were vey good value for money good we had the set meal B for 2 it was fantastic delivered in under half an hour hot loads of food enough for 4 let alone 2. I would give it a 5 and we will use it again.
