I wish you would put Gammon steak back on the menu

Called in for a meal on a Sunday afternoon. I had the alleged new pie that the poster raved about. Well, the lid would serve as a manhole cover. I've actually cracked my denture so won't be hurrying back. Table next to us had the same problem.

Friendly welcome and lovely efficient staff. Food was great too.

Nice and friendly and comfortable but on this occasion food cold as served on cold plates.

Harry was amazing - we had a great evening with the quiz and dinner.

Give the restaurant a miss unless you like poor quality over cooked food, lack of ambience and staff who need better training in hospitality - from the manager down.

Visiting the Roebuck never disappoints, service is always quick and food is consistently excellent. The roebuck has a homely feel and you always feel welcome. Would thoroughly recommend.

Hadn't visited before ,bar drinks service OK but and it's big but that will put anyone ever eating there ...when was the gents toilet last cleaned ? I think never ,it was filthy and not just overnight muck I'm talking months and months of dirt ...I'd be interested to see the kitchen mmmmm

Would have liked a window seat as it was sunny. Quick pleasant service, prawn cocktail was pleasantly displayed, my fish gorgon sarnies, need a big bite 🫦. I have a taste card, 25% off whole drinks and meal. Happy customer, will be back.

The worst place I've been yet. Over £20 for this pie and lumps of rock pretending to be potatoes, with a pie that was tasty, but so small it looked like it was 4 miles away. Gravy was thin and disappointing. Tasted like grease and water. Scarily, the peas were the best thing on the plate. They charged us for a pepsi we never got, and when one of our party asked a staff member for mayo, they just ignored the request and walked past. When understandably complaining, we were told, "that's how it comes". Total garbage. Do not go near this place. Dreadful. Nothing offered as an apology, with a £145 bill for 5 of us. Terrible I've not even mentioned the lamb yet. "lamb rump" on the menu. Turns out, 3 slices of wet tasteless lamb cut up for me like I'm a 5 year old. Pathetic.

Beautiful food, friendly staff, it was very busy so we had to wait longer than usual for our food, but the staff kindly arranged for an extension of time on our table, we didn't want to miss pudding!

Friendly, flexible and comfy, even with it feeling busy it was still relaxed. Great service and food was amazing (not usually a big vegetable eater but the veg with the roast was absolutely delectable!). Great portions for standard, not too small nor big but lovingly sized than most high class restaurant courses aka morsels. Highly recommended! Look forward to our next visit!

It was mother's day so the resturant was busy but the staff were fab and very attentive even checked back to see if food was OK! ++++ Food was divine

What a fantastic meal out, as soon as we walked through the door a friendly welcoming, great atmosphere. Will definitely be returning. Would definitely recommend. Dog & family friendly. What a great bonus in supporting the armed forces.

Wow! What an amazing roast we had. The service was second to none too, Ben in particular was great, who we now know had only been there a few days. He did amazing. Since the new manager and staff took over it really had improved ten fold. They we all so accommodating with me taking the pram in too made sure we had enough space and were all comfortable. And the food itself was yummy, best roast dinner I have had out in a long time so tasty and great portions too. We will 100% be back.

Had a fantastic meal here! The food was delicious, especially the chicken burger and the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive. A wonderful experience—I’d definitely recommend it!

Overall we were very pleased. Our waitress was very nice. We ordered two roasts (one beef one pork) and a seabass. The meat was extremly tender on both, great yorkshires and good mix of vegetables. I had the pork and would have liked a little more crackling and I have to say my whole meal was lovey and tasty. Our friend who had the seabass really really enjoyed it said it was cooked too perfection. We had desserts which were excellent. We then decided on coffees with liquers. It was our first time visiting the Roebuck we are hoping this will be as good when we come again. We have just moved into Market Harborough and would hope to bring family to eat here when they. Our overall experience though was great and look forward to visiting again.

Enjoyable evening out. All our meals were delicious and served hot and in a timely manner. Staff were great. Really helpful, friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend!

What can I say, this place is just amazing Richard and the team are beyond wonderful. Most definitely will be back and recommend to friends. They can't do enough to help you and look after you while you are here. Keep up the great work.

We had a lovely meal this Sunday, the manager was very accommodating, ensured the meals for our young kids came first to allow us the time to feed them before our dinner came and it was all beautiful food. There were clear plates all round! And love the kids play area too

Very Disappointed that we were virtually being forced out of the door long before closing time!

A group of us had drinks here and they wanted to close early by an hour but because we weren’t drinking fast enough they made as much noise banging crockery etc round us, turned the music off and then told us they were closing so we had to leave… it was 10.30 when we were kicked out not 11 as advertised. Rude!! We only went here because the pub we wanted to go to was packed with no where to sit, the roebuck was empty now I know why!

Friendly fast service, Sunday roast came out in record time. Food was well portioned and tasty . The desserts were good too. Lovely interior/atmosphere.

We went for a Sunday lunch, presentation was amazing and even had a 30% off coupon. Somehow that still didn’t feel like enough, with the meat tasting like school dinners. I don’t know if it was just a bad day, but it wasn’t a proper home cooked roast that you expect from pubs.

Food was OK, tiny portions though! Nearly £4 for a portion of tiny chips! I think I counted 8x chips in the teeny bowl! What has happened to rations on portion size!? The kids has a tiny little ramakins of beans that had about two mouthfuls in them. Food is so overpriced the pub trade is going down hill these days! Otherwise okay. Just not great. Such a shame but I have to be honest. You dont much bang for your buck these days. Not great if your looking to feed a hungry family! 😕

Very pleasant service, sometimes to quick between servings. Food was very good and tasty. Would recommend to try. Very clean and well set out.

Had a fantastic time last week, the manager, duncan and our waiter richard were excellent hosts and made us feel most welcome and couldn't have done more to help service was fast food was great and the atmosphere was spot on. All the staff seemed to be enjoying themselves which was lovely to see. Would highly recommended.

Fantastic service and good food for 19 of us for a 60th birthday party! Very accommodating manager. Recommend if you’ve got a large group including children as there’s lots of room for them to play outside.

We visited for lunch as it's half way between us and family with great access. The lunch staff were so friendly, helpful and charming, plus the food was delicious, it's dog friendly and they even have treats ready for them! Will definitely visit again.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere, welcoming staff. Food is always delicious with generous portion sizes. Nothing is too much trouble for the lovely staff. We had an extra guest, not a problem. Recommend to friends as confident that they won’t be disappointed.

Went for dinner with Friends. Food was ok. Portions not big enough & wouldn't have wanted to pay full price. We had a discount off the mains. Arrived at 7.30pm & was told by the guy waiting the tables, that the kitchen closes at 8pm ! Drinks very overpriced... £22 for a bottle of prosecco & £6.25 for a malibu & dash of coke !!! The bar staff were nice, and it's a nice Pub inside. If they sort the portions & prices, it could be fab ! Probably wouldn't go for dinner again, lunch might be better value. However rip-off drinks prices, put me off. Shame !

Middle of the day, so atmosphere was understandably non-existent. Nobody smiled or welcomed us, however. Experience was ok and the food was solid.

Really nice venue and friendly helpful staff. Having recently discovered I have a gluten intolerance, it was nice that one member of staff, Richard, took the time to help me in showing what I can and can’t have off the menu as I’m still learning!

Service and food were great. Staff were all helpful. Seated us in a nice quiet spot so we could talk while having lunch and charge our laptops.

Made to feel welcome on arrival. Service and quality of the food was amazing.

We have visited The Roebuck for the past two Sundays, and while we generally enjoy the atmosphere and food, our experience with one particular staff member has been disappointing. On both occasions, we were greeted by a man named Richard, who was quite abrupt and unwelcoming. When we mentioned our reservation, his response was dismissive, saying, "We'll see if we have a table for you." On January 26th, we arrived with our dogs and could clearly see that the right-hand dog-friendly area was nearly empty, yet Richard was unnecessarily rude. I also witnessed him treat another guest the same way—directing an elderly man to the bar area despite his preference to sit in the dog-friendly section. When we visited again yesterday, the same issue arose. I had originally booked a table for 4:00 PM but realised we would be late, so I immediately replied to the confirmation email to change it to 4:30 PM. Upon arrival, Richard insisted that I had no booking and, without even checking, told me it was cancelled. When I tried to explain, he simply stated that "we don’t read those emails." Again, despite the dog-friendly area being visibly empty, he claimed there were no available tables. I then asked if we could eat in the bar, and after some reluctance, he agreed. This kind of attitude is not what you expect from front-line hospitality staff. On a positive note, Georgia and Duncan from the bar team are always incredibly polite, welcoming, and helpful. They go out of their way to ensure guests feel comfortable, and their service is truly appreciated. As for the food, it is generally very good, though there are some inconsistencies. The mixed grill can sometimes contain fatty or overly tough meat. The roast dinners are lovely, but yesterday, the roast potatoes were overcooked and too hard, with barely any potato inside. My triple roast was missing the crackling, and my son's sirloin steak—which was undercooked last time—was requested well done but arrived burnt and curled up at the edges. Despite these issues, we do enjoy the overall atmosphere, the friendly bar and waiting staff, and the quality of food on most occasions. We hope that management can address these concerns, as we’d love to continue dining here without the negative experiences at the front door.

Very busy, clearly understaffed ,took 40 mins to get our food, not the best experience we've had at the roebuck and we visit Quite regularly. Disappointed ☹️

Lovely pub to go and eat or just have a few beers , went to try a Hawkstone lager but they have stopped selling it now, but still had plenty of other lagers/beers on offer, Rich and the team are always pleasant and happy, I’m proud to call this pub my local

A big shout out to Gee who really looked after us and ensured we had a great experience. Lovely venue and a relaxing atmosphere 🤌🏻 Recently, we also joined in on the New Years Eve party bash. Rich took great care of us and made sure we were all having a fab time. We all really enjoyed it and the kids loved the “midnight” balloon drop and the disco too. There were loads to do to keep them busy and to tire them out. The balloon entertainer was a huge hit with us, he certainly was popular. Thank you for a great evening!

This is a nice pub. The atmosphere is good, and it's clean. The food was served quickly and was good quality. The quantity of food was reasonable.

Chose to have Christmas day lunch with friends. Pre booked in October and paid our booking along with our meal selection in advance. We were welcomed by staff who wished us a merry Xmas a nice touch, we were seated quickly and once our guests arrived we were asked about drinks. The drinks arrived quickly and soon after our food began to arrive. The food all three courses were hot tasty and well presented. The staff were quick with service and very attentive. The only negative I would say was that as the meal had ended we felt as though we were being rushed from our seat to be moved to the bar area, even though we had time left on our table. It was a minor detail but worth mentioning all the same. We would highly recommend the Roebuck for an Xmas dinner experience.

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience at the Roebuck. Bear in mind this was a pre ordered meal so absolutely no surprises. Drinks took 15 minutes to order and sat on the bar for another 15 minutes the coke was disgusting and we were told that’s the way it is. 3 of us had Salmon and we were told they have included king prawns at no extra cost, I think the truth is they had nearly ran out of salmon and stuck 3 prawns on the plate I would say there wasn’t even a tea spoon of salmon given. 3 had tomato soup, we were told it is now mushroom soup which nobody wanted but whilst we were there they were serving tomato soup to the next table. 5 had turkey main and 3 had steak pie. Mains were Ok ish, bought in pies not homemade. We had had enough by desert so we asked to take them away. We waited 30 minutes and when we got home there was nothing be desert short but they were in dirty tubs that hadn’t been washed out so straight in the bin they went. Toilets are absolutely disgusting. Over £315 wasted wish we hadn’t bothered and we definitely will not return.

Our party consisted of four adults and 3 children, we were looked after attentively and the children each received a colouring book and crayons. We reserved a table beforehand and unfortunately we were given a high table with barstools, not ideal for children. We asked if we could change but were told it wasn’t possible. We ordered two sharing platters to start, and was disappointed with them as they consisted of very little content for the price. The remainder of our meals were ok, but nothing outstanding.

Beef too tough to eat, half a glass of wine on arrival, not a full glass, coffee was served without asking how we take it, my wife does not take milk, did not receive salted caramel fudge, so basically for £155 we had a starter each, 1 main, 1 glass of wine, 1 coffee and deserts we took home, this was our first and last time we eat out at Christmas Very dissatisfied, disappointed and disheartened, we will not be returning or recommending your establishment

Came as a group of five for Christmas Dinner, and everything was lovely, staff so friendly, and all meals were as requested and cooked beautifully.

We went there for Christmas dinner at 12:30 arrived early 10 minutes out of respect. I was told to wait as table next to me was get situated as they had one of there high chairs blocking access to the table they wanted us to have. I asked the host/manager could we could please have another table as this one was stuck tight in the corner with not enough room to swing a hamster. He abruptly said no that he couldn't, even though the restaurant was half empty with at least 10 two tops available. There wasn't even a thought of entertaining the fact the customer wasn't going to be happy with the experience they were supposed to provide. I wasn't rude didn't make a scene just simply said forget it as it's only money we were going home. while waiting for my wife to finish up in the ladies room he reluctantly said in a tone of distain i guess i can seat you over there. I've worked in hotel business and pubs and clubs for over 20 years one being the 5star/5 diamond Ritz Carlton Atlanta. he could have simply asked me to wait had a look and refused me or accommodate my reasonable request of a half empty restaurant.there was no effort on his part so we left as we would have not enjoyed our meal beginning to think because my wife was from the Philippines we were being shoved in a dark corner while there were loads of open 2 tops throughout the restaurant.

Food and service good, and atmosphere is usually good, but on this occassion it was spoilt by an overly loud brass band playing Christmas carols - couldn't converse at what was a family meal - not against carols, but not at ear aching volume.

Thank you for making my son's 25th a wonderful family night out. Purely for the sake of a balanced review, my one niggle is please change the garlic bread back. Not loving the hard crusty square rolls. Otherwise a really lovely night. Thank you!

Friendly staff, food good. They dealt with a child who was happy to run about with knives , disturb us etc well.

8 of us went, some of the meals were ok but some were dissapointing, we thought there was a tea spoon full of cranberry sauce on the plate and no pickled red cabbage, however it was the pickled red cabbage and "I can't do anything about it, that's what head office says to put on!" Staff unhelpful for other things too.

First time here and tried the set lunch menu. I had calamari and fries followed by melt in the middle pud. Food tasted amazing and staff were lovely. Definitely be back.

A really friendly atmosphere, the layout means even when the pub is busy it feels cosy. Staff are very helpful and the food was really good - although the portion was quite generous so I couldn't finish.

The word here, in a word is: dreadful. Truly dreadful. Hot food comes out cold, cold food, comes out warm. Please do not eat here. When I finally got my food, it was cold. This food was replaced, with greasy, tasteless fries and greasy, tasteless scampi. It was totally not worth the money. Staff at the bar, were really unhelpful and not welcoming. The food server was the opposite - friendly, attentive and helpful. Staff were arguing in front of everyone too. We had travelled for an hour to get there for this. We're not happy at all, we feel ripped off. The response from team at Roebuck, does not make up for the poor experience we had. The food was not far from being inedible and the service from the bar team was dreadful.

Every experience at the roebuck is very pleasant, the food is always fantastic and so is the service. Staff are always very friendly and politely. Can’t recommend the roebuck enough.

Why oh why do they insist on increasing the volume of music in the bar area. We aren’t here to listen to piped music. We are here to talk and enjoy! It just makes everyone shout at each other to make themselves heard

Had a family meal out here and it was good. We made a mistake with our booking and booked for Saturday when we meant Friday but they were very accommodating and squeezed us in. I will definitely return again.

Let down by the fact it has had no dairy free milk every time I've visited.

We enjoyed a midweek evening meal here, enticed by a 30% off mains voucher that we received through our door. Whilst the bar and restaurant were fairly quiet (Wednesday evening) the atmosphere was pleasant and the staff welcoming. Our waitress Caitlin was very friendly and gave us great service. We shared a Camembert to start, followed by a ribeye steak and fish and chips. The meals were generous, It was just disappointing that the dried and almost cold mushy peas suggested that the mains had perhaps been sitting for a while before service. Whilst we didn’t dine late we were advised that the kitchen closed at 8pm…this was just 10 minutes ahead of the time at which we were given dessert menus. So something to be mindful of. Whilst I don’t envisage the Roebuck being a regular place for us we would certainly dine here again in the future. There is plenty of parking available, and also some outside space for the better weather. The drinks menu also features a reasonable selection of non-alcoholic beers and mocktails which is nice to find.
