Love this pub 🫶🏻 since Josh and Bex have taken over the pub the atmosphere has been more welcoming and so chilled 😎 The pub garden is lovely, whatever the weather, as they have a covered seating area. We have visited many times, call and book your table in advance as they get really busy. The food has always been really good 😊 The landlady Bex is the Chef, there’s a really good menu to suit all tastes and caters for all. a particular favourite of mine is her beer battered onion rings, they are the best I’ve ever tasted. Josh manages the bar with Bex and the rest of the team. There’s a pub quiz night and we enjoyed a live music night too. This is a real gem of a pub just off the Welford rd (A5199) follow the sign for Shearsby village.

We are a walking group and although they are not normally open on a Tuesday lunchtime they were happy to open for us provided we had pre booked. We arrived at 9.30 ordered our lunches and set off for our walk. Sadly it rained quite a lot but when we arrived back the fire had been lit and we all soon warmed up. Lunch arrived soon afterwards and everyone went away happy with the experience. Thanks for sorting everything for us

The Chandlers is one of those pubs that doesn't shout about being a pub. It sits on a corner and could easily be mistaken for one of the village's houses. However, once inside you realise this is just what a village pub should be, a cosy, social hub for local yokels and visitors alike. The Sunday lunch (I had the chicken) was delish, reasonable value, and the bar staff friendly. It's an easy 4 blobs for the Chandler's. We shall return.

Amazing food really yummy. The best thing about this pub is the chef/chefs. The Sunday lunch was lovely and after we finished we gave our dog the left over veg on a plastic coaster thing that the bowl of veg had been on. The landlady came over, made no eye contact with us, snatched the coaster up, and threw the veg at our dog! We live a long way from this pub and come here quite a lot, just for the delicious Sunday lunch. I've never been made to feel more awkward and unwelcome! The landlady so so aggressive! I really wouldn't like to get on the wrong side of her. Needless to say, we won't ever go back. If you have a dog, don't expect to be welcome here!

I’d heard great reviews about this pub. A lot of my friends have been recently and have said how good the food is. The food is good. There’s a large and varied menu and the portions are generous. It’s just a shame that our ladies night out started on a sour note. On arrival at the pub we said that we had a booking and were told where to find out table. We found it, sat down and started to chat. A few moments later a waitress came and asked to take our order. We told her that we were sorry but we hadn’t looked at the menu yet. They hadn’t been handed to us but were placed at the table setting with a napkin on top. The waitress very bluntly told us that we had booked a table for 6.45. and that they had other tables to serve. We were a bit dumbfounded! We asked the lady who was cleaning the next table, apparently she’s the landlady, if the table was ours for the evening. She too bluntly responded by telling us yes, but if we’d wanted to chat first we should have booked a table for 7.30!! We were happy to have booked a table for 6.45, we just wanted a chance to look at the menu. The food came out quickly and was nice. Unfortunately we felt like we were an inconvenience being there and we didn’t feel welcome. Sadly on that basis we did not leave a tip and will not be returning.

Pleasant ivy clad pub in the centre of the village and at the heart of the local community. There's a good range of ales on offer, including some local brews. So far, so good, but we found the food here somewhat disappointing. Actually, there's not a lot wrong with it, as standard pub grub goes, but that is all it was - standard pub grub. The menu on their website advertises seabass in parsley cream sauce, beef medallions in bacon & mushroom sauce, tuna steak in a sweet chilli sauce and other such delights. Admittedly this is a 'sample menu' but the reality was nothing like this at all. So it was a bit of a disappointment when our expectations were raised to a certain level but the reality was actually just pub grub. Perhaps we were just unlucky to visit on a day when the regular chef was away. I can only rate the pub on what was our personal experience.

This traditional English pub has had work done, giving more space and light without losing any of it's old worldly charm: new toilets too. It is a while since I had been here. We booked easily by phone. There was a good choice on the menu and we went for the traditional Sunday lunch. Our order came promptly and the table service was good without being intrusive. I asked for mint sauce to go with my meal, no problem - I am still surprised by how many other places serve meats without their accompaniments. Good sized portions, all well cooked - including the vegetables - reasonably priced. The wood-burner would be great on cold days and I had a view of the village green. I did notice that dogs were allowed in the bar and that there was a vegetarian option on the menu. Great place, we hope to visit again soon - our thanks to the owners and staff.

Although a little biased as this is my local. This little pub is brilliant. Set in the centre of the small rural English village it oozes village life at its best. Stella and Mark welcome you with a warm and honest friendly smile. The garden overlooks the village Green and the sun blasts the area all day. Or if your just dropping in and fancy a pint in the sun at anytime of year the front benches offer a little solitude.Martin prides himself on true ales from across the country. He maintains at least 3 - 4 real ales on tap and once there gone there gone. If Gins your thing , you won’t be disappointed. Meals a typically good pub grub. But booking is essential due to limited space and popularity. A menu is available in addition to a specials board to entice the hunger even more. Try their sizzlers. The cosy log fire keeps the place toasty in winter. It’s a great place to socialise and catch up with friends.

Shearsby is a very pretty village and this little pub is lovely. We had a table for 4 on a Friday night, it was busy but the service was still excellent. I ordered fish and chips £11, my husband had chicken black £11 and our friends both had a steak and ale pie £10. All the food was delicious. Just after we ordered there was a power cut, judging by the reaction of locals it is a common occurrence in the village. Our meals still came out quickly and we were brought a lantern for the table.

I had the New York burger, it was really tasty and the manageress/ chef were very accommodating to my requests of "no cheese, bbq sauce separately, and no tomato in the salad please" and the rest of my family enjoyed their meals too. I went to get a drink for me and Dad halfway through my meal which took ages because there were several people waiting at the bar. Consequently my mum dad and sister finished eating before me. I was very surprised when a waiter who hadn't even been serving our table came up and asked us if we were all done or wanted a few more minutes...this would have made sense if I hadn't been using my cutlery at the time, but I had just put a mouthful of food into my mouth!! I replied firmly "Errrrm I'm clearly still eating....." which made him disappear but I was not impressed.

Many of my friends have raved about this restaurant and we had never been. So after realising it was closing, we just had to book. It was not what we expected - bright lights and bare tables. Not our thing. The arrival greeting was ok but not special and no explanation or interest in us as 1st timers. The food was good and very tasty but it was expected at the price. The wine choice was a different matter. We order one red and one white, not cheap. The white wine arrived by a very young waiter who poured the wine with no option to taste and it was NOT cold. Unbelievable! When asked why it was not cold he said there was ice in the ice bucket. Not a good start to the meal, The waitress leaned over me every time to serve my friend and they didn’t offer new cutlery for each course. Maybe they have lost interest now it’s closing, very sad as we had heard such excellent reviews.

Didn't eat here but it has a fabulous beer garden and the staff were very nice. Board games at the bar were brilliant to keep the kids amused

Had a family meal out here and it was good. We made a mistake with our booking and booked for Saturday when we meant Friday but they were very accommodating and squeezed us in. I will definitely return again.
