Excellent service from Callum at the bar, very quick & friendly. Comfortable beds & clean rooms. Overall a good stay! 😊😊

We had a lovely meal, speedy service and Callum even managed to cheer up my Grandaughter that was not in a great mood as we arrived.

Visited today for breakfast.. which was perfect…. The super special breakfasts were well presented, we asked for well done bacon… and that’s what we got. Pleasant staff and a lovely atmosphere.

We had to go back to Reception as the first room we were booked into, the heater did not work. We were given the key to a new room to move ourselves, in the second room the heater did work but the controls did not work, so it was either on or off. The heater it's self looked very old and definitely needed replacing. Secondly, especially throughout the night, every time someone one of the surrounding apartments used water, you had an awful rattling noise- not conducive to sleep. Thirdly, the water tap warned of very hot water, but we got no hot water out of the sink tap. Fourly, in the booking process, you should be asked if you can cope with the steep external staircase. Apart from that, the decoration, space and furniture was fine and we were very happy with them. If only the above were sorted, then we would have given 5 stars.

Although it states it is a dog friendly pub, you are only allowed in the bar area ...which you have to walk through the whole pub to get too! I would have thought it would make more sense to have the dog friendly part as you walk in the pub to avoid passing other visitors queueing at the bar, who may not particularly like dogs. Since the refurb, it looks nice inside but as it is still part of the Hungry Horse chain, the food is still very mediocre. Needless to say, we weren't overly-enamoured with our visit on new Year's Day. Staff were pleasant enough with the few encounters we had but generally they left us alone whilst eating.

Came here Christmas Eve and wow what an amazing atmosphere this pub had. Emma and the team were amazing full of Christmas joy even after their hectic day. Special shout out to Katie,Rosie and Issac as they all went above and beyond. Whilst there Emma and her team were prepping for Xmas day. She really pulled out all the stocks and was there till late making sure everyone’s table looked festive. I will definitely be coming back. Thank you guys

Went for Christmas dinner, £60 a head with welcome drink. No drink offered, table booked for 2pm starter came at 3:30. Our main then came at 4:15pm. Which seemed processed, turkey slices, not proper meat. We tried to be patient and understanding, but no apology was offered, we had to chase and ask. The only person who came to our table and spoke to us was to bring someone else’s food incorrectly. Appreciate things don’t go to plan but the silence from the managers wasn’t great no apology offered. Do not recommend and will not return

We've been for Christmas dinner here today the pub was wonderfully decorated. The team were all extremely welcoming and friendly, there was a slight hiccup with our order but the manager was quick to resolve this to a satisfactory standard. Above all the food was wonderful regardless and we had a great time. Everyone working today did a great job! Thank you for making our Christmas day and dinner a good one. We appreciate you being open and working over the holidays.

I took the kids for Breakfast with Santa and it was great, the kids loved it. The staff were tentative and lovely (especially the elves). The Santa experience was well thought,with the kids/families taking to see Santa, in his grotto, table by table. This made the experience more enjoyable and personal. The Breakfast was great and had waffles or pancakes as a choice for the children (kids favourite) lovely experience. Calm and enjoyable

We had a Christmas function upstairs for 30 people. We all had a fantastic time. Staff were so good bringing our food upstairs and it was still hot. I'd like to thank Emma and Aiden for the organising and going above and beyond. What a fantastic job they did. Not forgetting the kitchen staff because the food was spot on. Everyone enjoyed thier food. The function room was perfect for our family . An area where the youngsters could play safely. Tables were dressed lovely for Christmas 🎄. Independent music system from the downstairs area. Overall a fantastic afternoon.. many thanks to all staff involved

Went in for Sunday lunch with my son, when my meal came out It was cold, I mean very cold. Absolutely diabolical. Certainly won't be going back there anytime soon.

Met up with old friends for an overnight stay. Place itself was ok and quite family orientated. Food was very much franchise style but filling and good value. Rooms were reasonable, big bed, big telly etc but a little grubby around windows although in general quite clean, got woke up though at 3am by couple upstairs having a loud conversation and then having loud romantic episodes so no sleep after all that. Staff were great, worked hard and long hours

Just been in for a Sunday lunch with my mum, what amazing value and such beautiful tasty food , we had beef with all the trimmings, Wow £10 for a full Sunday lunch and a glass of wine... bonus 👌( (Not crap wine either ) , staff were helpful and polite, couldn't do enough, and the cherry was Emma (Manager ) who is so hospital , absolutely at the top of her gain , she worked so hard and you can see her ship is definitely a happy one. So thanks again me and mum had a lovely afternoon. Ohh and the place is immaculate, toilets too.. Definitely a place im going to favour from now on . The mill on the soar was OK it did what was needed But it's in the middle of nowhere so if you need to be somewhere else and don't want to drive you can't get a taxi also you can't get WiFi or anything on ya phone otherwise it's ok

Took a while for food to come out when it wasn't that busy, drinks didn't come with food I had to go to the bar to get them made again the bar wasn't busy, food came out missing stuff and took a while for all plates and sides to come out the and it. Half the food was luke warm and overall it was a sad experience

Had a Saturday evening here, although a busy pub. Was seated in a doggy friendly seat, looked after by staff. Busy with lots of people, but staff kept everywhere clean and tidy. Food was good, didn’t have long for the food either. Prices are quite cheap, but for a fun pub with your family it’s ideal. Will definitely return.

Visited tonight 18th October To be honest not good had rump steak medium to well was more like medium to rare Onion rings were soggy and cold, peas cold Nobody asked how our meals were. Toilets weren’t really clean! Really didn’t want to touch the tap it was disgusting really Unpleasant considering it’s just been closed for about a year and been re fitted out 😞 Not good not to sure if I go back again.

So happy this place is open again! Came in for dinner before staying in the hotel and can't praise it enough. A massive thankyou to Billy for looking after us behind the bar all night, and Emma when she helped us with a last minute room and made sure we had everything we needed. Would recommend to anybody who is looking for good food and great service.

Couldn't wait to come back here, its been closed for nearly a year, having renovations. There was 5 of us and we all ordered a meal, had to stand at the bar for ages to be served. When the food came it was either cold or things that were missing. My husband had the jerk Chicken that was described as seasoned Jerk Chicken with wings tossed in a Jerk sauce, with colslaw. It came missing the Jerk Seasoning, Jerk sauce and no Colslaw. We returned some of the meals and was offered free puddings, which was taking so long to come that we asked for a full refund instead, which they did with no problems. Whilst sitting waiting, we noticed alot of other people also taking there food back, for the same reasons cold food or missing items. Really hoping this is teething problems as we used to love coming here for food.

Went for lunch there 7th October food was very good and reasonably priced just disappointed when people came in with a dog, animals should not be allowed in eating places so will not be going back there.

A little disappointed at our experience today, the food was lovely however, it was a very long wait considering how quiet the pub was, I asked for a drink at the table to be told I must go to the bar (no problem) but then proceeded to serve the table next to us drinks to their table. The food came out quite staggered, bringing my food out before the kids meals which I think is backwards, the kids meals should be brought out first really. The kids then ordered a small pudding of brownie and ice cream which again we waited a while for it to come out to which it was just ice cream without the brownie. This was rectified pretty much straight the way but don’t go here if you’ve got somewhere to be after.

Re opened yesteday, lovely and light coloured and clean inside. Ate with a large family and food came out quickly and hot, BOGOF on burgers which was a bonus :) super tasty!! Staff all attentive and friendly! Glad for the place to be back open :) can't wait for many more trips.

I went with my wife and two boys for lunch inbetween Xmas and NYE so it was quite busy but we were greeted by a lady (Emma I think she was the manager) who was really friendly and helped us to get a table, great first impression! We then went and ordered our food and drinks at the bar, unfortunately not sure of the chaps name but he served us with a smile which was nice as not the case a lot of times in busy pubs staff can seem stressed and that just stresses you as a customer! This did the opposite and made me smile :-). Food came out really quickly and was all nice. Overall really nice venue (great play area and views outside which will come back again to use when warmer!), lovely staff and great value! Would certainly recommend 👌 👍

Cold pub, food not hot, staff not very friendly or knowledgeable about the menu. There was no macaroni cheese or chilli which we asked for for my child who only eats a select few meals. The food arrived quickly but wasn’t warm and the part of the pub we sat in was freezing and we had to keep our coats on for the whole duration of the meal. The menus were sticky too! Won’t be returning after this visit.

Haven’t been to this pub in a few years and it exceeded all of our expectations! staff were lovely and cheerful, food was delicious and speedy service. Couldn’t ask for anything else to have bettered our experience! Will definitely come again.

Took the kids for breakfast with Santa, was met at the door by a lovely lady named Emma introduced herself with a smile and showed us to a table. The menus were on the table ready and so were activities for the kids which I thought was a lovely detail, they even had Christmas crackers for each child set up for our arrival. A lovely young lady named Abby came over and took our order and sparked up conversation with myself and the children, really encouraging the Christmas spirit within the Mill On Soar. It didn't take long for the meal to arrive, it was brought out to us by a chap named Bill who wished us all a Merry Christmas as he placed the plates down. Compliments go to the chef as the breakfasts were enjoyed by the whole family.

First time in decades that I've been out for Christmas lunch. I was concerned that it would be crowded - we would be rushed to eat. Far from it, diners well spaced out. Food hot, we'll presented & tasty. Service was good, friendly staff, who took time to take a photo for us. Wonderful experience

Breakfast with Santa. Awful attempt. No atmosphere, direction as to what to do, food took forever to come. Santa was around the corner for 20mins, if you didn't know you would have missed him, really bad santa and given the cosy to enter only getting a selection box. Food was good, so I'd go back for that but the experience and what we expected was not good!

The staff were so good the onion rings were AMAZING but the chicken wings...bbq chicken wings- what would you expect? Chicken wings in bbq sauce??? Yep...me too. But I got deep fried slightly coated wings with bbq dip on the side. PROPER disappointment! Sauce and wings were really tasty, but still not bbq wings. But the lady behind the bar and the lady who offered us board games were great, as were the two lads who brought the food and got us extra bbq sauce. Overall, thanks, but sort out the wings and you'll get 5 diamonds not 4 stars!!!!

The worst week ever. I was here on a training week with my company. The rooms are nice and warm, clean and comfortable. But that’s not the problem. The problem is that every time someone uses a water supplied service then you know about it because it’s all a pumped supply. If your neighbour uses the shower, toilet,basin etc at 2,3,4 ,5, 6 in the morning then you get woken up because of the noise of the pumps that resonate throughout the whole room. The staff in the adjacent pub will come and serve you after they’ve completed chatting or texting with their local mates and staff so be prepared to wait a while until you get served. I will not be staying here again and would actually pay personally for overnight accommodation whilst in the area for training purposes with my company rather than stay there at their expense.

Incredibly impressed with our experience over the weekend! All of our food was delicious and came out in no time, even my fussy little eaters were happy. The staff were so lovely and helpful with my dietary requirements, and were wonderful when working around my children even when they were being difficult. We enjoyed it so much we came back for breakfast the next day, which was just as good! Would definitely recommend anybody looking for a place to have a lovely family dinner to try this place

I’m so disappointed with how much this pub has deteriorated over the years. My parents used to bring me here when I was little and it was always a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, it is now very dirty looking. The first thing that should’ve probably been a red flag is there was no soap in the toilets even though a check had been signed off on the check sheet for that particular hour! My husband said that the men’s were the same. Secondly our 2 very different drinks were flat which were changed for us. One of the drinks came back wrong but I was just happy that it had a little more fizz than the flat one that was given previously. Thirdly, our food was merely tepid. I wouldn’t recommend this pub and will most definitely not be returning.

Stayed overnight due to local family commitments. Staff very welcoming and informative on check in. Room very clean, good sized double. Went to the bar in the evening, Abi? did a great job and was warm and welcoming as was her colleague. Only issue I had was internet access. Couldn't access the bar wifi from my room and seems to be an o2 blackspot for coverage. Will probably be staying again in the next month or so with no qualms whatsoever

Personally, I love this place. The staff are so nice and the food tastes great. Everything looks amazing and comfortable on the inside while on the outside it is massive and has a play area to entertain kids. Honestly, I would recommend this place to everyone!

Popped in for a quick breakfast, though enjoyable don't feel that we got the best from our visit as we were not feeling 100% and struggled to eat it, we did have a little wait but nothing serious, on this occasion we didn't really enjoy the experience but as mentioned not at our best but have visited for breakfast a number of times and it was excellent, the fact we have visited numerous times would be a better gauge of the quality and service than this visit when we were a tad under the weather

Whilst staying at the Mill for a business trip, the rooms where cleaned everyday, the food was amazing and great value for money, and the service was excellent all the staff were really friendly and happy to help. Great stay would recommend to anyone staying in the area.

Booked mill on the soar, wasn’t busy but yet again, I got to the till & they hadn’t got what I wanted, ordered another burger that is worded so wrong & it was vegan , their was 6 of us & they bought 5 meals out & told us they had no vegan buns, to order something else would have meant we would have finished our meals & my husband would have ate alone. So I shared mine after asking 3 times for a spare plate, by which time mine was cold, I asked for a refund, the staff were rude & not good at hospitality at all, she eventually gave me a gift card after much debating, it was a terrible experience, it needs all the staff to be trained properly

Was in the area and wanted to revisit this amazing pub which around the early 80’s my Uncle, Steve Brittain purchased this disused mill. He went on to buy a disused school and used the bricks to build the Mill on the Soar. He employed 4 men to build the mill wheel, it took them over a month to build. The wheel worked well with the River Soar and was an amazing feature of the new pub. Such a shame it no longer runs. He also had many farm animals which were popular with families. The pub over 40 years as changed and changed hands several times. We found the staff very pleasant and the food we had, was delicious. If we lived in the area, we would use as a local. It brought back many memories. Uncle was also the landlord of the Chequers in Ullesthorpe and the Narborough Arms. They were all free houses.

Long wait for food as apparently a big party ordered before us! Food eventually arrived two at a time with long delays in between. One meal was "overlooked" so another delay. We wanted to eat all at the same time - no chance. We ordered...

Went for breakfast and had the waffles. Great add on with a cold and a hot drink for £2.50. Would recommend even on a Saturday morning.
