The Rocka Restaurant in Reading

A must when you visit Portsmouth and Southsea located in a road with many other restaurants. Great atmosphere and excellent quality food with a Portuguese twist and excellent staff.

I now understand why this place gets so many glowing reviews. The best garlic bread that I have tasted in a long while (good garlic bread is "a thing" for me). Crunchy, fluffy, and dripping with garlic butter, utterly delicious. Nice drink selection with some excellent Portuguese wines on offer (the reds are really good) as well as the usual french etc. Starters, the crispy lamb is really different & really lovely. Mains, a chef who really knows how to cook things simply and with respect is a rare and wonderful thing. Singly the best ribeye steak that my wife reckons that she has had in years, cooked absolutely to perfection. Try the Picanha it is stupidly nice. Friendly service, great food. It's 5 stars from me too.

This place exceeded my expectations! The calamari and muchule starters were fresh and flavorful, with perfect texture and seasoning. The seabass for the main course was grilled to perfection—moist, flaky, and absolutely delicious. The service was top-notch, and the ambiance was warm and inviting. A must-visit for seafood lovers!

Perfect first night dinner after a long day traveling from SoFla United States. Matt was beyond gracious and kind. The food was amazing. Some of the best hummus I’ve ever eaten. Fish and chips were amazing and I can never turn away a lamb shank, it was succulent!

After reading rave reviews on Tripadvisor I thought I'd take my girlfriend to this venue and was not disappointed. Promptly seated and drinks ordered we ordered the Pork Belly and Chickpea & Quinoa with chicken breast for our mains after having the olives for starters, both dishes presented to a high standard and both were delicious. It's the little things that separate this restaurant from other places, dried apple slices in my glass of cider, ending the meal with complimentary Limoncello and so on, served by the lovely Matt he was thoroughly professional and helpful throughout our stay there. Lovely décor and highly motivated staff and management I understood completely why the rave reviews, the price of our night was excellent as well with the bill coming with a tip included which was highly deserved, nice result finding this venue.

Nice place, perfect service and wonderful food and cocktail.. I highly recommend it, it has been my favorite restaurant in Portsmouth ♥️

First visit to this bustling place, great ambience. Food was outstanding and guided by Matt the waiter what a star! James also behind the bar was on top form, can’t really fault anything about the visit and reasonably priced. Dont miss out on this gem !!!!

Delicious, fresh food and friendly staff - especially Matt. He recommended the most delocious fish stew and katsu curry, which came wonderfully presented and such lovely flavours. Highly recommend 😇

We had a lovely meal for our wedding anniversary, and we greeted with a complimentary glass by Marisa, which was a lovely touch. The food was excellent - vegetable gyoza, halloumi fries, followed by steak and lamb shank. The staff are very attentive, the decor really smart and all in all a great evening.

Great meal where we had a selection of starters and mains. Great atmosphere which is great for family, friends and couples! Worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Food really tasty and well presented Staff very friendly and professional. The menu is diverse for any tastes . Their deserts are well chosen if you either have a sweet tooth or not .

Absolutely excellent first time visit. We had Rocka style mussels, pork belly tempura followed by Alecio’s Moqueca (cod stew) and Picanha (steak). Waiter knew the menu very well and gave a great recommendation for the cod stew and steak, totally exquisite! Service excellent, ambience intimate enough we were seated at a table booth. Priced fairly and we will definitely return again. Thank you!

This is honestly the best restaurant in Portsmouth! I had the Melange Friture and it was incredible. The staff was more than lovely, honestly the best staff I have seen recently. Very friendly and always made sure we had everything we needed.

Went again for lunch and this time had 2 for one on fish section on Mondays, wow amazing deal I had the octopus and prawns and my partner the mouqueca, simple divine.

I come here ocasuanaly with my partner and manager invite us and ofered nice deal and promotion. Then we come later the same day and were anjoy of food, and all around

Visited on a Saturday night, it was busy but it took an hour to get the starters. The waitress opened the bottle of red wine and just poured it, no offering to taste it or check it wasn’t corked. Yes, it was a corked bottle and she wasn’t over confident with the corkscrew. I had the chicken katsu, the chicken was dry and bland. Others had steak which they said was ok. Have always had a good meal in here but last night I didn’t feel I would be returning. Shame.

Nice food . Just a tiny bit left for it to be a complete meal. The pork was nicely cooked and fries was perfect. A little bit of texture with the sauce would have been great

We were served by a beautiful lady called Ella and she was so helpful and made sure we felt comfortable and our orders were good . Food was tasty and came so quick! 100% coming back
