Excellent atmosphere, excellent service, excellent food

Great little restaurant not far from the seafront, the food was delicious and the waiter who we think was the manager had a great attention and interaction with us

Amazing birthday dinner for my husband! We're in the process of possibly moving to Portsmouth, stayed the night and looked for a nice place with excellent food. Look no further, this is it. Exquisite food, lovely wines, best service we've had in a long time (thank you Matt). We'll definitely be regulars if the move happens!

A great place for a tasty lunch or dinner. Not too formal but smart enough to feel a little special.

There are only two shrimps in the octopus and prawn dishes The food tasted good but nothing especial.

I took my wife here for her birthday after stumbling across the menu online. We were not disappointed. I had tempura pork belly to start which was fatty heaven, really amazing and came with apple sauce and a sweet chilli dip. My wife had the crispy shredded lamb with houmous for starter and the Brazilian fish stew for main. Both were again excellent. I had the octopus for main and whilst it was very tasty, by the end of the meal I was a bit tentacled out. The tips were crispy and delicious and the thicker end was fairly soft but the middle was slightly chewy and with such a large portion, I couldn't finish it. I also don't think the sweet potato added much. I think crispy fries would have been a nice contrast. That said, I'd probably order it again in future but we'll be returning to try loads of other dishes first. For 2 x starters, 2 x mains, a beer, large glass of rose, a very nice bottle of Portuguese red and 2 x double Courvoisier's to finish, our bill came to £125 including a service charge. I was more than pleased with that. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere really nice and relaxed. It was quite busy by the time we left but not at all noisy as the background music was nice and low. I did give some feedback to one of the owners before we left and he seemed genuinely delighted to hear it. A future favourite and we can't wait to come back.

Only there for early lunch but food and wine was excellent, you really couldn't fault it. Service was excellent, can't praise the restaurant enough. 👍🏼

Every thing in this restaurant is very good except one thing, I do not like that now it has added gratuity to the bill, that should be left to discretion, especially with minimum wages being paid. There are many minimum paid jobs that don't receive gratuity. I wouldn't ask for it to be removed but would never go back. Sad

Had a night in Portsmouth last night and after some research, we booked The Rocka for dinner. So glad we did, it's a fantastic place. Had three courses; all delicious. Excellent service as well. Highly recommended!

Delightful find, we were shopping and out for my birthday, we found this fantastic restaurant, we hadn't booked, the staff were lovely, genuine and great service, the atmosphere is relaxed and cosy, the cocktails were perfect, the olives were delicious, we both had faultless starters and mains, our steaks were cooked to our choice of rare, and were perfectly cooked, we didn't need to use the salt and pepper provided, the balance and seasoning of our dishes were spot on. Five stars for the service! The team here are so passionate, friendly, and incredibly professional. They really care here.
