I've been living in the area for the past 3 years because of uni, and now stay here because of work. This is my holyland. I order once a week as a treat and they always knock it out of the park. When I would order in person, the people behind the counter would recognise me and were friendly with me. Now I have fun memories with the delivery people who know me. My only *maybe* criticism is that sometimes the fried chicken can dry up a little near the end of the day but I think thats more on me if I order around 9pm. I feel so lucky to have a place like this local to me

Really good food! Great portion sizes, we had a large vegan munch meal and a large jerk chicken meal. Partner loved the jerk chicken and my vegan meal was amazing, unreal flavour! Will definitely be coming back! Would love to see more vegan/veggie options, thank you

The food was simply not good enough.

SO GOOD seasoned perfectly, the fried chicken was crispy, meat falls off the bone, staff are so so friendly and the portions are perfect

Had Coco’s twice recently and it’s been amazing both times! So much comfort in all the food. We love the patties and goat curry! Delivery driver always delivers with a smile! :)

The jollof rice is not the same as before, used to have the african nigerian flavour, but this time it's just not the same. Same for the curry goat

Went to Coco`s for a takeaway. When I got there, there was no menu (save a QR code to scan in order to see the menu). Maybe I`ve been alive too long, but I remember when a menu was the only way to know what was available - but no, Coco`s took that option away. I`m tired of having to use an app for almost everything and Coco`s failed big time. As a friend of mine from Trinidad would have said, "The place gone slack." I agree.

Bit annoyed because the curry goat picture has rice and plantain, but I literally only got the curry goat

Non existent coating on chicken. The boneless fillets were not fillets and more like scraps of chicken with zero coating. Not good.

The food here used to be very good unfortunately the quality has dipped since last summer meaning many of the main dishes are now watered down and have a lot less meat and more bones. Give it miss if you want something authentic

Never sent our order, can’t pick up the phone, can’t even leave a message because the voice mail is full. Really disappointed as the food is nice. Terrible customer service

Used this place a while back and it was delicious, unfortunately today wasn't the case, the chicken was dry and the coating wasn't as nice as last time, the wings were OK and average, but the mac and cheese was nice, chips were cold and they forgot my drink too! 16 pounds spent and felt a bit short changed, Unfortunately will not be using them again as I can't justify the quality for the cost

Never came I had to go get my own food.

Rice and peas weren't to bad and the plantain and sweet potatoe fries were nice but the jerk chicken was nothing like jerk chicken, 5-6 burnt pieces of bone that were covered in what tasted like BBQ sauce. Won't go there again.

Really nice food and a decent size portion! Could be abit more generous with the extra sauce, bought some oxtail gravy and got about a thimbleful. Other than that would definitely order again!

Flavour was good but soooo many bones in everything and expensive as no rice included or anything else! Glad I ordered chips too as most of it was bones

Food was very tasty and fast delivery but plantain was missing from my delivery and the restaurant doesn’t answer the phone when you call. Left a message but no reply. I wanted to order puff puff but no option to do this on website and couldn’t get through on phone to add to order. Food was good though 👍

I ordered on their website, the food never came, the phone number goes to a mail box that is full and just disconnects and I never got a refund.

Putting a one star on the service part. During our recent visit, my wife was surprised and disappointed when our request for a kids meal was denied with the explanation that kids were not present. This caught us off guard, given our regular patronage to the restaurant. It would be beneficial if the staff could consider a more inclusive approach, acknowledging the familiarity we have as returning customers.

Don't know how you can call it Caribbean/Nigerian takeaway certainly none in the kitchen, played it safe and went with the wings and chips. Was fine. No atmosphere no music in the background

Was lovely food, enjoyed the spicy chicken wings. Plantain was a little bland but I’ll fry it up in the morning with my breakfast and add some sugar to sweeten it up. Everything else was lush x

Been ordering food from here for more than a year now. Really happy with their range and quality of dishes. Staff are super friendly and understanding. 100% would recommend :)

Imagine calling to place an order and the staff are ignoring the calls to be chatting in the kitchen.. but if you do manage to get through, foods decent still..

Absolutely delicious. Best food I've tasted in a long time. I got chicken strips cooked to perfection and chips which were really tasty. Daughter got a mix of vegetarian stuff which she loved. Absolutely 💯 and will definitely go again.

I ordered some oxtail from Cocoa's takeaway and it was extremely terrible. The meat was sooooo tough, that I couldn't eat even one piece of it! Never me again!

Just even to Coco’s for the first time. I grew up in the west London area and saw some things on the menu I hadn’t seen since working in Shepherds Bush. The staff Dave and Mia were really lovely and were clearly passionate about the food they served. And Rightly So. I tried the sweet chilli Chicken which was fantastic and ordered a little fried chicken. The crunch on the chicken was excellent and completely delicious. They have an extensive menu including Oxtail and Goat curry which I am looking forward to ordering for a family night in. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND COCO’S. great value for money from a takeaway with very high standards

ordered food driver says I should give them £20 for a £12 order that she will be back so i refused…and said when she gets change she can be back nobody ever turned up and thats how no food was delivered! Called 2 hrs later they sent a text food is on the way no food came so from 15:49 to 18:01 been games…smh

Great value for money, you get massive portions for the price and the chicken is amazing, I have a feeling that it might not be for everyone if they don't have the right stomach to handle some of the food, but as long as you can the food is amazing

Went to get lunch from here one day but the cashier was late from a delivery so the chef apologised for making me wait and gave me a fresh wing to make up for it. 10/10, love this place.

The best takeaway in Portsmouth

Always seem to wait 1 hour 40 to 2 hours for a takeaway. All food turns up stone cold. No apologies. Plantain is quite clearly left out then reheated as has the texture of leather and chicken is ridiculously greasy. We keep giving it another go as when the food is hot the chicken is pretty good but fed up of waiting ages to be disappointed. Also the tablespoon worth of sauce you get at extra cost is pointless. If they can’t cope with delivery I don’t know why they offer it. Doesn’t seem to matter which day of the week we order. Sorry Coco’s you used to be good but not worth it anymore.

There selling there portions go expensive for go little you pay £9 for a meal and in london u can get two portions for by its self for £10 there about... a container of oxtail for £6.50 and £3.50 or £4 for a portion of peas and rice

Delicious goat curry, Jollof rice and plantains. Well seasoned, spicy and delicious. Pieces properly on the bone for full flavour. Great value.

Listen this food is banginggg! Ordered about 3/4 times in the space of a week since we've been visiting here from London, and Coco's doesn't disappoint. BEST fried chicken we've ever had, and that jollof.. omds. Big ups the delivery drivers too always so nice and super quick. Thanks Coco's!

Nice to have something almost like caribbean food

I grabbed a load of wings on my way back from work the other night, and for less than a tenner I fed three hungry bellies. The wings are something else, the Sweet Chilli ones are SO damn tasty, you'll be turning right 'round n heading back for more. Don't hesitate, if you've got the munchies, then head straight over and grab as many wings as your wallet will let you. You won't be dissapointed.

I have always wanted try this place and was not disappointed the staff were so friendy ambient surroundings just a walk in off the street turned into a taste sensation ive never eaten oxtail before beleve me i will again try it people Top class.

I've been to a few places but no one's Jollof taste as good as from here. It was a huge portion for £4.50, finished the rest the next day. It went well with chicken and chopped nuts I added. My only regret is I tried this place in my last few days at Portsmouth and it will be a while before I come here again.

This is the first and last time and the last I had stew beef the taste was nice but the meat was dry like eating paper and the chicken was swimming in fat and tasted like it had been there all day STAY AWAY

Very very greasy, but tasted good. Shame they forgot to package my drink and the sauce pot which you pay extra for is tiny. Overall pretty average.

I had the curry goat and rice and peas at 1.30pm on a Monday. The man said the plantain was not ready yet so he would give me more rice which was fine…portion size was good but the curry goat was so oily it made me feel ill. The meat was not ready and did not come off the bone….overall very disappointed I have wanted to try Cocos for a long time I will not be going back….it made me realise how good my own curry goat is!…it is clearly not authentic caribbean food

Food is mediocre and not authentic. It is also over priced. After I ate here I felt really sick because of how greasy the food was. This place won’t be seeing me again and I hope you don’t make the same mistake I do by going here.

Afro Carribean take away, not tried the African dishes yet as I was craving a large oxtail meal including rice n' peas and plantain ( and also bought a portion of curry goat on it's own ) Tasty, nice portions, good flavour and spice. Oxtail was sweeter than I'm used to, but still really rich and deep with flavour. I'll definitely be back!

I had been looking forward to this takeaway for over a week. I ordered the Big Munch Meal, mac and cheese, a saltfish patty and marble cake. The saltfish patty and marble cake with custard were very tasty. Now the mac and cheese was vile. It was cold, rubbery and very bland. I ended up throwing it away. They missed my oxtail and my friend's African beef so we had to go back and pick up 45 minutes later. Not good. The oxtail was overcooked, bland and a very small portion. I am Jamaican myself so I know how it should be cooked and it's not like that. The rice and peas was very oily and had a weird horrible earthy taste. There were 10 of us and my friend gave me some of her jerk chicken. That was not jerk chicken as I make it myself regularly. It was some kind of roast chicken with cold bbq sauce dumped on top. Very disappointed and I shall not be buying food from here again.

Getting African food in Portsmouth is a challenge so just having jollof rice on their menu was amazing! It tasted okay; I wouldn’t say it was Nigerian jollof though. Very easy to locate. Sustainable packaging!!!! I give them a 3 ⭐️ because I once ordered and it took two hours.

So firstly after 134 minutes of waiting for the food. Where do we start: chips were cooked yesterday absolutely disgusting. Never eat there Mac n cheese dried smelly and cold. Couldn’t feed it to the children rang and they couldn’t care less. Big orders from us won’t be going to them again. Worse food I’ve ever had. Shocking 🤮🤢

The worst service took over an hour for the food to come and didn’t give the driver card machine for the payment and didn’t even tell us about the method of payment, especially with COVID. Poor diver having to Deal with the customers

One of the best takeaways in Southsea!

Firstly food arrived extremely late. All of the chips were cold and drenched with dirty oil, to the point we had to use tissues to get rid of excess oil. The chicken was small and it tasted as if they cooked the chicken twice, again making it have a lot of unnecessary oil. Which to the point after an hour of our meal it has made the majority of my family feel sick.

Highly recommend this takeaway venue. Food was amazing and great value for money. West Indian/ Caribbean food cooked to perfection. Delivered within 45 minutes

Chicken wings are tasty. Jollof rice is alright. Puff-puff was nice too - reminded me of Sri Lankan (Vaipan).

Have ordered three times from here and so far have not been disappointed. Sometimes the spice levels vary or the curried goat might be more tender on an order compared to the others might but either way they pack in all the taste they can and it's lovely. Curried goat is my favourite. Beef dishes are more tough texture wise and not really tender but still taste good. Like the Joloffe rice. Plantain is delicious. Chicken wings good but nothing to write home about. Jerk chicken lovely but the sauce is more like a mix between jerk and bbq sauce however I guess that caters to a wider range of people who don't want their heads blown off from the heat. Defo my new fave takeaway

Ordered last night as in the past we have ordered and it's been nice. But last night the meat was chewy on the goat curry and the jerk chicken was warm with cold sauce. I'm not sure why maybe they have changed cooks as won't be going here again

Cocos is the best African takeaway in the area, and very much needed. Their app is the best thing ever, makes it so much easier and good to support local. If you havent got the app then you need it. My favourite is their sweet chilli chicken wings and mild jollof. There is always room for improvement and sometimes they do get really really busy but the service is suitable and friendly. Keep going guys.

I didn’t want to give any stars I spent £30 and with the exception of the rice and fried chicken it all went in the bin! Plantain was solid like it had been cooked twice Fish was hard, again not fresh Goat was tough The jerk chicken was not jerk chicken, not quite sure what it was? The food was without a doubt not cooked from scratch at least not on the day I bought it! I called to talk to the manager and was told their policy was not to refund even though the quality of the food was completely unacceptable. Ordered via Deliveroo. The rice was literally burnt (it stank as soon as I opened the container), the BBQ chicken was literally cold to the touch, like it had just come out of a fridge. The order was also late but this could have just been down to the driver. All in all: a complete waste of money. Rubbish food. Go spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

The oxtail was burnt and tasted disgusting The jerk chicken was tasteless and just lots of horrible cold gravy Rice was oily and cold The food was not even packed nicely , by the time it got to me the plastic was dripping with oil, half open I spent £30 so was looking forward to my food., I can’t express how disappointed I was. I would have enjoyed chicken and chips from the high street I will not be ordering from here again , It’s a disgrace , nothing authentic about the food. Les plats a base de poulet manquaient de goût et était fade. Je n'ai pas trop senti les épices. Le poisson n'était pas trop mauvais. Boisson maison vraiment trop sucré. Un peu cher le tout pour la qualité proposé.

I have found my fried chicken place!!! Not dry like most places in Portsmouth. The sweet chilli chicken wings are a must and the Jollof rice is spot on. The gentleman that served me was super cool and friendly. Defo a regular now!
