Great service, a window table and the best (Tomahawk) steak in Portsmouth! Great night out with friends. 10 out of 10.

I had an 8 oz Sirloin steak with a Calamari starter.came with Creamy mash,Salad,fried mushrooms,and Bread. These two combined portions was enough. I didn't need a dessert. Steak was well cooked for my preference. The waiter was friendly. Very clean, tidy restaurant. Will go again.

Slow service despite being the only ones there, server was rude abrupt and had bad hygiene. Food was awful, poor quality in ribeyes as it was like rubber. Extremely overpriced and to top it off we got ushered out at the end!

The rancho was supposed to be a good reviewed steakhouse or so I thought. It took us 20 minutes to be served and be asked for drinks and we waited an hour for food. In the end we had to leave waiting over 1 hour and 25mins. I do not recommend the Rancho especially on the weekends.

Amazing food and excellent service last night from Nicola, Kate and Parth. They made us feel really welcome, we would 100% recommend!!!

What a lovely, lovely dinner! Nicolas, Kate and Parth looked after us so well on a Wednesday night for our friends birthday! The food is amazing and the service was above and beyond, especially since we had a friend who was on a night shift and had to be fed within 25 mins of sitting down. Very grateful for everything 🙏

Very quiet restaurant. On arriving only 2 other people in the restaurant. Food was cooked well and tasted nice. The biggest issue I had was the person serving me smelling of BO. Very off putting.

Passed by on my way to my hotel liked the look of the menu…OMG went for dinner have to say surpassed my expectations on an ordinary steak house ordered the beef burnt ends for starters n rump steak for mains have to say i died n went to heaven lauren who was our host ….well hostess with the most-est doesnt do her justest very fair price for dinner if your passing through definitely the place to go n real handy right round the corner from the maritime harbour ❤️

This place was terrible but it wasn't a one off been going for years and loved so many memories third time I've returned and every time worse and worse mould on the bread prawns that were clearly off and staff admitted it toilet over flowing with poo and a chef actually smoking by the bk door in kitchen I was horrified use to be my go to place wouldn't rent for a rats funeral know such a shame

Worths Restaurants I been in Southsea! Please be aware this is nothing like the food from South America. The Guacamole was the worths I ever try no even avocado its like a green cream. The salad it's only very small pot of lettuce and very small slice of tomato. Steak ribs and fajitas was not worths any money and cocktails 2 for 12 was a joke too !!!! . If you looking for better food try el Toro of Jessis latin Lounge. Avoid

So we fancied a steak and stumbled across this restaurant. We were lucky to get in,as we hadn't booked a table. The server, managed to find us a table. Beautiful food and reasonably priced. A 10% service charge is added to the bill, which is alright if the service is good. I believe in a choice of if you top someone or not. Other than that,it was excellent. Highly recommended.

This is a nicely appointed restaurant in Fareham. The staff are friendly and efficient, and there is a great menu of enticing plates for meat lovers. Prices are reasonable, too. The negative points would be the accoustics, the restaurant is exceptionally loud when full, and the steak, although skillfully cooked, is not grade 'A' meat. Worth a visit, but unlikely to go back, preferring to seek out better quality elsewhere.

Arrived 6pm Saturday, it was a bit quiet so the atmosphere was a bit subdued, by the time we left the restaurant was full and everyone seemed to be be happy. . Very friendly staff, good service and the food was excellent. Steak and ribs... Lovely. Would definitely go again.

Killer blue cheese sauce, steak was disappointing sadly (too sinewey) but you never know till you cut into it. Chips excellent, service excellent, price fair to expensive. Will go again.

The restaurant was quiet for a Friday evening with a small group apart from us having a birthday meal. We were seated swiftly and the waitresses were friendly and attentive, naively explaining what chunky chips are. The food in itself was pretty good with the steak was cooked medium rare as ordered. The nachos were decent. The house wine was good. We were pleased with the friendly service and the overall experience and were happy to leave a generous tip however was slightly disappointed to see that a service charge was already added and was not highlighted when the bill was brought to the table. We did leave a tip on top of that to acknowledge the lovely service. The restaurant team should trust their food and service and leave it to the customer or when they add the charge disclose it which will make it more transparent.

Fabulous dinner. Although the restaurant was packed the service was excellent. I had the calamari for starters and my husband had the crayfish and for the mains I had the sirloin steak and my husband had the fillet both were cooked to perfection, cheese cake was delicious. Would definitely return.

We've had a few amazing experiences at this resturant and it's always been our favourite place to go....until yesterday. I had specifically booked a table in advance for a certain time but upon arrival we were told our table would be 45 MINUTES due to them falling behind...they clearly had a huge table to fulfill orders for, so why they chose to accept such a huge booking and then continued to let others book similar times is mind boggling for sure [lots of other pre booked tables being turned away]. Very disappointed being taken to the kitchen to talk to the manager like naughty school kids...so unprofessional and such a shame as we normally love this place. Good thing someone else accepted us on a Saturday evening as a walk in so my partners birthday wasn't ruined.

Very well cooked steak and ribs. Kids. meals are definitely worth the value Even our 13 year old had a kids meal, and he was filled up. It includes a drink and ice cream

I’m writing this review as I have 2 very sick children who attended a family meal at Rancho (thankfully I didn’t attend). Out of 33 people who attended a family birthday meal, 29 have come down with severe food poisoning. Lasting over a week & still some suffering from cramps after eating. This was reported by every individual to Portsmouth City council who said they would investigate but decided a phone call was good enough! This business should be shut down! Absolutely disgusting that a business would serve food to people with such a poor hygiene level. On checking they have recently received a 2* rating for hygiene. DO NOT EAT HERE!

Burgers and mixed grill were lovely - really succulent!

I took my partner for NYE dinner and was very underwhelming. The lack of communication between staff was clear to see. Service was slow and the staff seemed inexperienced. The first real issue started when the main courses came out. I ordered an off menu 800g ribeye which i've done for almost all times i've been to ranchos, when the waiter served my steak it was clearly only a 200g steak as it was smaller then my partners 200g fillet, I had to question it twice before they returned it to the kitchen and after discussions with the chef they acknowledged that it was wrong and they said they had to cook me another steak. They gave me back the 200g steak and said they'd serve me another 600g once cooked which was a bit disappointing but acceptable. I had to wait and ask 3 times for my peppercorn sauce whilst I watched the waiting staff serve other desserts and tables, by the time I finally got the sauce our steaks were pretty much cold. When the 600g arrived around 15-20 minutes later it was rare at best I'm not fussy when it comes to steak but it was inedible and I ordered it MEDIUM so I had to get it sent back to be cooked more. Whilst this was going on I ordered a coke which I had to ask for 3 times and then finally they came to the table with 2 cokes, another example of lack of communication or understanding from the waiting staff. To be fair once the 600g had been cooked a second time it did come out piping hot and a good medium steak. Lastly we had to ask for the bill twice which took around 15 minutes to be brought to us. No offer of reducing the bill or any courtesy given all of the problems, it is a real shame as I've never had such problems and have been a long standing customer as I always find it to be a good steakhouse. As it was my partners first time she is definitely not going back and her night was very disappointing.

I had a meal with friends on Friday evening. The food was very good, excellent flavours and well cooked. As a relatively new eatery, it's working on it's service and atmosphere. Pricing is mid range, but it is valuable for money. I recommend that you try their hospitality and pay them a visit.

Absolute joke of a restaurant chain. Don’t even have the courage to answer my 8 or so missed calls enquiring about a delivery that’s approaching 45 minutes late, chased information across most branches in the local area, all claimed to have no connection with one another. Disgusted beyond belief. Avoid at all costs.

I really like the restaurant it’s very well there. Me and my friend came to portsmouth for holidays and decided to go have dinner at Rancho express. The food there is delicious! And the people there are very kind. Definitely gonna come back one time

The place is very nice!!! Me and my family have eaten there a lot of times, and the service is actually great. The food’s pretty good too, Made of high quality! Highly recommend going there it’s very nice.

Booked for 5pm, nobody was there until just after 5, food was mediocre at best with my chicken having to be sent back because it was undercooked, waitress was really lovely and helped as much as she could the same couldn't be said for the kitchen staff as frankly they seemed to want to sit around on their phones more than cook, not a great experience and don't plan on revisiting any time soon

Had the all you can eat ribs on a Wednesday, totally worth it and were delicious!

I have just eaten the best cooked and juiciest ribeye steak I’ve ever had. It was delicious!! My husband couldn’t believe the size of the rib rack he was given. He actually couldn’t finish it all, a first for him and he said it was the most meat he’s ever had on a rack and was like eating a joint of pork! Rest of the food was fab too, highly recommended! I only scored 4 on the atmosphere because we were there when it was quiet but the music was good.

Where do I begin…before I start Nicola you are the only bright light in an otherwise dire pit of brazen disgust onion rings straight out of the freezer 🤢ribeye steaks overpriced no flavour and the chef needs to go back to cookery class as he can’t cook a steak at all…ribs bland and flavour less on the whole a disgusting experience and I’d rather have gone for a happy meal at McDonalds…do yourself a favour and go elsewhere

They messed up our order and forgot 2 of the meals we ordered and my blue stake was more medium/well but the ribs where good

Had a perfect T-bone steak on my birthday I can’t wait to go back. The place was lovely and clean the staff were nice.

Ok so it was very early on a midweek evening but very little atmosphere. We ordered steaks (of course!), mine came out well done not medium to well and it was taken back immediately and replaced by a beautifully cooked ribeye. Blue cheese sauce to die for! Any chef can make mistakes, it’s the way the error is handled which, in this case, was nicely done

Best steak I've ever had in my life no word of a lie I had to go back the next day and get the marinated one I can't remember what it's called but it was fire 🔥, lovely staff and good price too, I recommend medium well done fillet with chimichurry sauce but if you get the special marinated one that's been cut in half get medium rare, I also recommend the runner beans with cherry tomatoes and the saute potatos 🔥🔥😍

Oh just wow! Paced up and down this road looking for a great restaurant and stumbled across this fabulous place! Incredible food and one of the best steaks I have ever had! Amazing staff that also did a grilled fish for my daughter and totally adapted the kids menu on request (it was a quieter Sunday so don’t hold me/them to that). Lien away and not a frequent reviewer but had to acknowledge the exceptional food!

Had an excellent meal here - steaks cooked perfectly and great sides. Service was good and attentive. Only small gripe was that the music was a bit loud. Would definitely recommend it for steak lovers.

It is eaten very well, good product and preparation. When we went we had a bit of a traffic jam when it came time to serve us because there was a very large celebration table, but they were very friendly at all times and you could tell they were in a hurry. The service in any case was excellent and the food was very delicious!

Since the menu change its gone downhill I ordered surf and Turf for almost £20 two prawns and a steak so chewey and mostly gristle it was inedible, there was so much oil on the plate it looked like the prawns had a pool party i couldn't even eat half my food. Staff saw how much was left over and saw the oil no mention of a discount/ voucher remake so paid nearly £100 for 4 people we all left hungry and ended up in subway. Really not happy and very disappointed we used to visit weekly now we won't visit again. Over priced poor quality food that's practically inedible. Staff are lovely and friendly but think they are worried about feedback from management. But surely when at the end of a meal 75% of the food is still on the plate and you can see a tsunami of oil you should be offering a discount or knocking food off the bill. I paid in full but that's the last time I go to ranchos after weeks of being a regular visitor.

We came for our sons birthday ..great service staff were happy very good steaks cooked to perfection large portions ..sea bass was amazing.. complentary bread was nice extra they happily did my sons birthday cake for him only thing was coffee machine was broken but we had liquor instead very good price for the amount of food and drinks will definately recommend and will be back thank you for and enjoyable time xxx

Stunning food ,service friendly and well informed great meal

First visit with family for a little celebration. Great menu choice. Particularly liked the ability to choose the weight of your steak. Being older could choose smaller cut whilst sons with hefty appetites could max out! Quiet early evening but service could not be faulted. The sides were good, better than average steak fries and generous portions of mushrooms and onion rings. Finished off with brownies for my sons and a very good ice cream for me. I considered it very good value for the quality of the meal, in fact the bill was a bit less than expected. Overall a very enjoyable evening!

Popped in on Saturday evening after walking out of A very well known Steak Restaurant across the road. We were made to feel very welcome on A very damp July night. Some complimentary warm bread and garlic butter soon arrived at the table. We ordered A jug of Sangria which all I can say, is it certainly had A kick. We had some garlic bread to start, and that was really good. The Steak Main courses were excellent and well presented. Service was very good and very clean toilets. We will be back and thanks for A great evening.

What should have been a lovely lunchtime meal turned out to be a huge disappointment. As a chef of 10-years I honestly don’t know what meat they are using here?! It’s certainly not fillet!! It’s certainly not a paying customer quality of meat! We were the only table in the restaurant so there should had been no mistakes; yet they managed to overcook one of our guests steak from medium-rare to medium-well. Disappointment started here.. then looking at everyone else’s steaks, there was ZERO care factor put in. They hadn’t let the steaks rest, blood was swimming around the plate, and they didn’t even cook them correctly.. plus the so called fillets were flavourless, and layered like multiple cuts of meat on top of each other! From my professional opinion they are using very cheap cuts of beef and moulding them and somehow layering them. Also, how can a fillet look exactly like the sirlion? Love them to explain this? They were identical but trying to sell them to us at the same price.. Awful experience! I’d highly recommend grabbing a steak from the butchers Buckwells across the road, save yourself some money, cook at home and stay clear of this place. If you want a real cut of beef go elsewhere!

I had a nice time here with my friend we ordered some food I can’t remember what I got but it was £29ish £30 came with chicken, corn, 2 lamb pieces, 2 steak piece, 2 chorizo sausages, side of salad, chips and ribs. The ribs were my favourite part, literally fall of the bone ribs so delicious. Not a fan chorizo but it was really good spicy aftertaste (?sorry don’t really know how to describe it) It was quite a lot because I also ordered calamari which was also really good. I changed my fries to sweet potato fries also really good. Nice and crispy. The lamb and steak were also good I got the steak well done but it was still really soft and not chewy.

The best restaurant i've ever had take away from. The the food came early, it was piping hot and absolutely delicious, i would recommend this place to anyone. Well done everyone.

Food was great. No complaints. Service was a joke. 1.5 hours for one course. To top it off they charged £8.10 service charge! Seriously need to remove the service charge as the staff are less than motivated and why should they be. For service like we received I would have wanted money from them!

What an experience. The food was perfect, the atmosphere was perfect, But what made this experience special was our waitress Mia. She had us laughing all night. She was utterly adorable and couldn’t do enough for us. Joined in our laughs and made the whole experience a night to remember. I’d come back again without a doubt. 10/10

It's been a while since I last ate here. It didn't disappoint! We went early in the week so wasn't busy so the atmosphere wasn't as good as before. Food was delicious as always!

Rancho’s is one of our favourite restaurants to visit in Southsea. The steaks are delicious and done to how we like it, the atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the staff are great, nothing is a problem. A place we would recommend to anyone for a delicious dinner

We've ordered from Rancho several times before but unfortunately this time the food was extremely low quality for the price we paid. The Chateau Brilliant was a flat slim piece of cheap meat with a fat strip on the side. Never seen this before, definitely not a short loin cut. Rancho BBQ burger bun was very very soggy & cold. God knows how long this has been with the delivery driver. Mixed Grilled plater actually half a beef sausage. I think it would have been better not to include sausage in the menu if you cannot even offer a full one. We all know it's a hard time financially but what a disappointment for a Mother's day menu. We don't think will ever order from there again. What a shame & extremely poor quality for the price.

My daughter took me for mothers day,didn't like the food, the waitress didnt know the answer to any of my questions regarding the food on the menu, I was I'll most of the night after. Will not be revisiting

The worst customer service I have experienced. Got my order wrong and then ‘corrected’ by dimly scraping half of the wrong sauce off the meal and telling me it was corrected. Manager then argued with me despite his staff telling him the kitchen had made a mistake. No apology and no attempt to rectify. Totally awful.

Ignored when we first walked in, young man serving us was miserable the whole time and when asked for recommendations just shrugged, food ‘looked’ okay but had no taste or flavour to it, the place wasn’t busy but it took ages to come over to us, wouldn’t eat here again if I’m honest

Went there for hubby's birthday. was not very impressed with its customer service. The waiter has got no facial expression at all, quite cold. Poor customer service. Food tasted alright, portion was OK but then found a short white hair on meat. Very disgusting. Not very happy birthday meal.
