The Rock in Glasgow City

Always love this bar. It’s complete unpretentious and it’s a welcome change from the rest of the west end. The prices can’t be argued with either!

Nice local traditional pub with a selection of beers, ciders and spirits for good prices. It has a great vibe for sports games and the pub quiz is great too.

Came here with friends who live close by. It’s a hidden gem even if it does need a lick of paint! The manager with the ponytail is hilariously sarcastic and had my friend stumped after he tried to be cheeky. Our group would come back for that experience alone! If they don’t plan to do food maybe a truck outside would be a money maker and keep us students happy!

We go to the quiz night at The Rock every week. Casual, a good laugh, and cheap drinks compared to other places in the West End. Bla, who hosts the quiz, is great fun and Jasmine from behind the bar hands out the raffle tickets with just the right amount of sass! ;) Really chill, friendly place.

First time visitor to the Rock on Friday night with friends who live locally. Staff friendly and helpful, sociable and friendly punters, and a live band that made the night - a Motown tribute act called the Diva Soul Band. One of those unplanned fantastic nights 😁

Came in last weekend to watch the boxing and it was a really fun and safe atmosphere. Been in plenty of pubs when the boxing is on and the atmosphere is toxic. Not the case here at all and will definitely be back for the next big fight!

The manager is this establishment is on the verge of discrimination against young children. I visited the premises in march 2020 and felt the customer service i recieved from the manager was very arrogrant and discourteous to customers. I used to visit this pub a lot and i asked for myself and others two pints of tennents and water and got my two tennents however the head pf the tennents was half way down the glass. Obviosuly staff had not been trained on how to pour a pint. I highly disregard any family or any people will children to attend this premises as the manager needs to learn the act of customer service. Worst pub in the west end of glasgow by far. Stonegate need to look at the management of this establishment as they are not customer friendly at all.

Fantastic pub close to my flat. Visit most days when I'm walking the dog as he loves to lie by the fire and get treats from the girls on the bar. Great local.

Cracking pub for people of all ages. Shows all the sport and has a pool table too. Friendly staff and cheap pints for the area.

Visit here fairly regular like. Big screen telly's and show all the sports and stuff. Place looks a bit run down but always have a good night in here plus it's cheap through the week for drinks compared to a lot of other places nearby. Don't do food anymore but let us bring in a takeaway so fair play.

This is my absolute favourite wee pub in Hyndland. Good for playing pool or watching the F1 and tennis! They always put on whatever you want to watch and the girls behind the bar are all lovely.

Went in with my wife the other day and enjoyed the cheap cocktails. Staff were decent too. Will defo be back again as we're new to the area and nowhere is as cheap as this place.

A hidden gem of a pub in the west end. Slightly off the main drag but definitely worth a visit if you're after somewhere to watch the football without paying an arm and a leg for a drink.

Booked in last week for our societies first social. Staff looked after us really well and remembered a lot of our orders when we came back this week! We've decided to make it our weekly pub now!

Went in with the misses for a wee drink ended up staying till close. Very friendly staff and good prices for the area. Will be taking the dog with us next time as it is also pet friendly 👍🏻

I'd appreciate an honest response from management about the people who stank out the pub with weed for hours and who were chopping cocaine on the toilets tonight at 6:30 on a Tuesday. Said it before, The Rock has a drug problem. I reported it to the staff who agreed with me. How was the situation dealt with? Drugs aside (jeez...) the staff are great, helpful and really friendly. Doesn't excuse the drug problem. Managers, pay attention. I'm an infrequent punter and I spotted it a mile away.

Popped in for a bite to eat - very reasonably priced food for this area and burgers were spot on. Less than 20 quid for 2 burgers and 2 pints - I'll be back!

He estado visitando The Rock regularmente a lo largo de los años y me preocupa que pueda estar empeorando. El personal es tan brillante como siempre lo ha sido, muy amable y muy atento. Despite a "makeover", the Rock looks exactly the same and is still a dump. The interior looks exactly the same as before, grubby, outdated and old. The boiler is broken again, even having previously being condemned by an engineer. Patrons are actually bringing in their own heaters as the pub is so cold. Management seem to be indifferent to the comfort of their patrons. The standard has deteriorated rapidly. Toilets are awful, with drug bags (cocaine or amphetamine) at 6:00pm on a Friday in January. Again, management seem indifferent to this. If I could give a zero I could.

Realmente quiero que tenga éxito, pero. . . No pueden limpiar el bar y en los grandes eventos deportivos siempre tienen poco personal o son lentos. Coopers en Great Western Road está bien gestionado en eventos deportivos, pero el rock no está bien dirigido para grandes eventos.

He visitado este lugar la semana pasada con mi hermana, que está en una silla de ruedas. La ruta de acceso para minusválidos en el pub estaba bloqueado por un coche Negro Ford Focus, a pesar de un gran cartel en la pared indicando que era necesario acceso 24 horas para minusválidos, y que coches aparcados grúa. (hay varias calles donde puede estacionar). Y tuve que ir a preguntar a todo el mundo en el jardín de la cerveza si fuesen dueños de un coche Negro Ford Focus. No pude encontrar el propietario, así que tuve que comenzar a preguntar todo el mundo dentro del pub. Increíblemente una chica detrás de la barra gritó "es un miembro del personal del coche! "El miembro del personal y luego salió y cambiaron el coche, pero estaba esperando hasta que me dieron a mi hermana, así él podía poner el coche allí. Tuve un intercambio climatizada con él y él entonces me dijeron que si me dijo una cosa más, entonces que no! En ese momento decidimos marcharnos. Lo parte de 24 horas no requiere acceso a esta persona no parecen captar? Personal otros no's pub hacer lo suficiente para ayudar a mi hermana.

Visited to watch World Cup, manageress refused to put volume on then refused to serve me again because i complained. Not football friendly,staff were unhelpful and more interested in looking at their phones. Wont be back.

Atmosphere was good. not to busy inside but busy outside as it has a sitting area which the sun hits all day. Its nice and comfy inside and quite big to. food was great fro the price, just perfect amount. would recommend to go during the summer.

Pints are always perfectly chilled and the staff are all brilliant. Perfect for a bit of food and a few pints during the football. The new food menu has something for everyone. Very clean and lots of tables along with a crackin atmosphere.

A nice relaxing pub in the west end of Glasgow. A good selection of food with various deals available for certain nights. The classic burger I had was very tasty but the chips have room for improvement. The all day breakfast was equally good with the beans being served separately in a little jug and surprisingly enough they were very tasty too.

We were in on Friday as we saw on Facebook that a band were playing and thought it would be good to hear some live local music! We were not disappointed, the band were fab and the people dressed up were amazing!

So i had been to the rock before and was left a little meh. But now, holy crap! The food is great, the staff are super friendly and the prices are insane. Also they have these two huge projecters for sport etc which i will keep in mind! Also the new manager jackie took our bill and was hilarious. No wonder the place has turned around with someone like that!

De acuerdo, el personal es genial, los dueños de la gestión/no fue así. ¿Por qué cierras tu cocina comprobar 7 pm? ¿Por qué su cocina totalmente cerrado en 16 / 8 / 17 la noche de corbata celtics euro? En verdad Este pub tiene mucho potencial (han descuidado para últimos 10 - 15 años). Que alguien tome el toro por los cuernos y no sólo estar ocupado en los días soleados.

El rock es un gran lugar especialmente para cualquier deporte que es. El equipo es muy amable y te hacen sentir muy bienvenido. Son todas y el trabajo duro parecen disfrutar de su trabajo. La comida era genial y todo estaba a un precio razonable....

If the sun is out and you fancy a pint really recommend this locals pub in the West End. Okay there's not a massive selection of craft ales like other places around and about. But there's a decent selection and it's very reasonably priced. There's okay pub grub too.

Aprovechamos para venir a tomar unas cañas en este pub. Buen precio y gran variedad de cañas, pintas, medias pintas. También cuentan con carta para poder comer. Buen trato y sitio acogedor.

Have visited this place many times for drinks, prices are reasonable, lots of choice, staff are friendly, nice atmosphere and theres always comfy places to sit. The menu is vast so theres something for everyone, although the food is pretty basic and the quality is questionable but its dirt cheap so you get what you pay for I guess- perfect for when you just fancy some simple junk food to fill your tum. I enjoy going here and I think its a nice change from some of the more up market fancy bars of the west end when you just fancy a few cheap pints in a nice place.

Was in today, Wednesday the 22nd, at about 5pm. Went to order food as the menus were out to be told the kitchen was closed. Why have menus out? What makes it worse was the last time I visited, a few Sundays back, the same thing happened. I like the pub but they need to get a grip as far as food is concerned.

Staff great with lots of screens displaying sport you can sit at any place in this pub. Also has a great beer garden which is great in the summer months, bring it on.

Was in with friends for drinks..however the food smelt so nice made us all hungry. We all had food and every plate was tasty with big portions too at very reasonable prices. The staff Andrew and Laura were very pleasant and attentive. Will definitely return.

Have been going to this pub that does food for many years. Dark and moody inside plenty of room and staff all very pleasant. The food is always done to order and have never returned anything yet.Varied menu something for everyone Parking is the only problem, if you use the pub car park its above the roof so a lot of stairs otherwise I'll still visit every time I'm home in Glasgow

Walking past this place pretty much on a daily basis you could truly smell the food and it made your mouth water. Finally we caved in and ate there. At first a bit confused... went to a table, looked over menu and no one came to take our order... turns out you go up to the bar to order... so don't look like a nube like we did :-) We opted for the angus burgers... they were huge, and delicious. Like all burgers they had their own taste, not a traditional american taste, but it was wonderful. They were huge, as I said. More than we could eat. Served with Onion Rings, Chips or other options. It was a really nice little pub and had a great atmosphere... oh and for those that need the bathroom... don't get confused there either... the mens is on the far right of the bar in the corner and the womens is over beyond the TV area.... someone in our group only spotted the womens and was a little lost when it came to where he should go :-)But over all it was a great place to dine and well worth our stop! Highly recommend stopping in for a pint (if you drink) or a coke and burger if you happen to be in the area!

If you are going to this pub in winter, make sure you are well wrapped up, no heating on, and two coal fires that aren't lit, even the barman had a woollen hat on, couldn't stay long as far too cold to sit

I absolutely love The Rock. Great atmosphere always. Reasonably priced great food. And big screen for the football. Highly recommend.

The manager is very friendly and the female behind the bar always remembers my usual. They have just introduced a new menu with plenty of veggie options and some great deals so I'm really pleased. I use The Cloud wifi in here quite often with no problems and the house rose is decently priced.

Enjoyed several visits to the Rock during our stay in Hyndland, good atmosphere and staff are friendly and give good service. Food was typical bar food and reasonable.

This is a proper pub,great beer,bar food and fun.A happy place populated by good spirited patrons.There's a great outside South West facing space which justifies sunny day outside drinking.If there are better pubs than this elsewhere,I have not found it but the search is not urgent as the Rock is a great retreat

Average quality food in a very nice pub space. Open and comfortable. The food, while not gourmet, is very good, and the service is terrific. Closing the kitchen at 9PM on a Friday night seems like a mistake, but they've been in the same spot for quite a while, so I guess it works.

When we asked for a plate of chips at 9pm, we were told the kitchen had closed. 45 minutes later, they were still serving meals, when we said "that's poor", the answer was a shoulder shrug. Not a word was spoken - and we WERE a group of regular customers. Appalling. Cheerio

Visited here today with my dad. Grabbed some drinks and one of the meal deals.Dad couldn't stop going on about how nice his fish was, and my burger was great. The onion rings needed a little more salt, and the chips were really nice.Drinks were a little over priced, but given the cheapness of the food and the efficiency of the service, I can let that slide.

This pub used to be a mecca for all ages in the west end - it is now just a big barn with little atmosphere - TVs blaring and average food and service.

Lunchtime visit with the Auldgits. It was clean and well set out. Good beers n lager. Toilets clean n ok. Food was just ok but what do you expect for the very cheap price. Handy for buses to n from town.

First time in here although I only live up the road. Usually do Byers Road or Epicures. Wanted a decent seat in the sun so gave it a go. The outside looks dreadful with badly painted breeze block but inside was quite nice. Decent prices for drinks and some good beers available. Great to have so many tables outside in the sun. So only had one drink so far but will go back for further consideration.

This pub must be in pole position in the West end. What a let down! Service appalling - not surprising when you see the attitude of management?Gents toilet - at best - like an open sewer - how Environmental Health have not shut the place down I do not know. The group who own this establishment really need to get their fingers out.Looking at the toilet would you really like to eat there?As I said before - the Rock is in pole position, but the people they really need/want have been voting with their feet since Nick`s and Epicures (150yds up the road) have opened.The Rock has been a West End institution for over 40 yrs. Those of you who remember the Rock of old would weep if you saw it now. I know things change - but make your own judgement.I would like to be proved wrong - but if the current regime continues - would make a nice block of flats.!!

I went to the Rock at least once or twice every two weeks for about a year when i lived in Glasgow. The atmosphere is pretty good, one of the few pubs in Glasgow where you can go watch an old firm game without worrying about maniacs getting into it. It's not a very trendy pub, more for people who live in the posher area of Hyndland and families than younger adults.Their quiz night is also a good night out..always packed so get there early!Where the Rock really lets customers down is the food. I have had several dishes at this place, never been impressed. Cheap frozen food and not-so-cheap prices. The service is also really hit and miss...some of the servers are super nice, some could not care less.Nice for a pint (though can get very dead some nights), not for dinner.

Come here regularly to watch the football and have a pint and can't say a bad word about the place. Great atmosphere and food is very good and well priced. Bar staff are all really friendly too so makes for a good night out and excellent for watching any sports.

I've been going here for years and nowhere beats it in the west end for football and pub grub. There is always a selection of games on so you have the choice of what to watch. The food is great and well priced also.

Easily the best venue in the west end for watching live sports, especially Soccer Saturday. The food is good and value for money. It's 'unbelievable Jeff'.

Friends and I recently visited this pub and had a great time. We firstly had something to eat. There was something on the menu for all of us, and was very reasonably priced. Then there was the karaoke which we all joined in and had agreat laugh There were TV's all about the pub showing football something I know my boyfriend would enjoy. The price of drinks were very reasonable and the staff who dealt with us were nice , polite and served us with a smile. I am definately going to visit again hopefully with my boyfriend so he can watch a football game. Great pub.

I've been to this pub quite a few times over the years and it's always a great place to be.... nice atmosphere, relaxed and totally unpretentious (which is nice for the West End!) Staff have always been nice and friendly and seem to know a lot of the customers well, and the drink is pretty reasonable in price. Food is pretty cheap too, standard pub grub really but always nicely done. Always been a nice mix of people when I've been in too, doesn't seem to be targeted at any one group. Families, students and pensioners, all are made equally welcome! The karaoke on a Friday night is always good for a laugh too. All in all, a great west end hang out day or night.... and a fantastic suntrap during the summer months... providing you can get a seat outside : )

I have been to the Rock a few times now and taking into account its convenient location I suggested we have dinner there after visiting the nearby Cottiers theatre watching an Xmas panto. The Rock was a very good choice for the family, there were 9 of us there in total, all having main meals, some having alcoholic drinks, and most having dessert. My teenage brother was very impressed at the massive portion of chocolate cake! Whereas my parents were most impressed at the value of the whole meal! But everyone enjoyed the food they had. Service as usual was good, staff were attentive and good chat. Also with some football on in the background the lads were kept entertained. I have also enjoyed participating in the Thursday night quiz and the odd theme night where the pub and everyone else gets dressed up and has a fab time! A friendly local with bags of personality to go with it. Worth a visit!!

Was in a couple of weeks ago to watch the 6 nations and thought it was great. The pub had a really good atmosphere, very friendly and even tho it was really busy you were served quickly and in turn. Staff were friendly and up for a laugh. Got food when in and the menu was pretty varied and very good value as the food was nice.Have been in since to watch the football and will defo be goin back, best place I've been in a long time for watching sport at.

I've visited this pub a quite a few times as i live nearby and its definitely the best value for money in the area. The food is your usual pub food and there's always deals on too which is good. The drinks are cheap with a bottle of wine about £10.They have a quiz night too which is a good laugh with some prizes to win. Good atmosphere and the staff are friendly too. Can't really fault the place!

I have visited the Rock on several occasions especially on big football match days. There are big screens and normal large screen TVs.I have seen them show three differant games at the same time which I think is great for Champions League nites.The food is quite varied and at a good decent price. Times I have visited it has been very busy during these matches but there are several, really friendly, staff and I found that I got served fairly quickly. There is also a good quiz on Thursday evenings which I found was very testing on the brain but not too bad, great fun. Well worth a visit next time anyone visits the west end.

I've been living in the West End area for a few years and have visited the Rock quite a few times. Each time ive been in, my friends and I have had a really fun time. There's always a good atmosphere, especially the karaoke nights. We have so far been to the 80s night and the Halloween party, both were a cracking laugh and the staff were all lovely and willing to chat away and have a laugh with us. I have been in for lunch aswel, even though its your standard pub food, its good value and tasty, especially the burgers...a pint and a burger for £4.99!! A great place to eat and drink, I'll definitely be going back!!

Went in with a group of around 14 friends for my Glasgow leg of stag do on Saturday. The place was buzzing due to the game being on and a friendly clientele with good banter were there. Decent selection of drinks, and although the place was mobbed, we got good service by the great bar staff.When I lived in the west end we used to go every Christmas Eve, due to the great atmosphere, drinks selection and the fact that you can get a taxi very easily or walk it home.A place I'd recommend which is still in the west end, but you won't get charged high prices for crap lager as per some Ashton Lane Bars. Plus if you go and don't like it, then it's a 10 minute walk to Byres Road.

Pretty cheap for booze, ok food- generic burger and a pint kinda place, nice staff, dreadful karaoke...Even after a few bottles of wine!!
