The Mailcoach in Glasgow City

My sister sadly died on the 30th of November. We patiently looked around for somewhere to cater for our guests after the service. We picked this place because it was nice to look at. Everyone was in the place for almost 30 mins before being served. First served was a sandwich then 20 minutes later you got the tea. There were only 2 members of staff on, one being the manager. This was to cater for 90 people. It was difficult to get the waitresses attention so it wasntvtge best experience. My son and I have Coeliac disease so warned them in advance. There was 4 sandwiches made up and 2 cups of tea. I believe my sisters family were charged £25 for this. I have been here many times for dinner and it's really good so not sure what happened this day. Think carefully before booking.

Their food is delicious! The fish and chips were exceptional. The staff, on all our visits have been really welcoming and helpful. Reasonable prices and fab food! Definitely worth a visit. The haggis bites fir starters were great, not been able to manage a desert so far as portions are big!

Had a 21st birthday meal for my daughter (16 attendees). Service was amazing and the menu options were extensive and included something for everyone. All the guests commented on how good the food was from starters through to desserts. All the staff were so helpful and couldn’t have been more accommodating and friendly. Based on my experience (and my guests) I would highly recommend this place whether for a family gathering or just a meal out. 10/10. Never been here for a while and decided to revisit. Was impressed on arrival and greeted by a lovely staff member who after a short wait showed us to a lovely table, that had a real candle burning. As it was a Sunday we went for the Sunday roast and were not disappointed when it arrived, it was just lovely. Well worth a visit as food and every staff member was excellent and so professional in their approach in looking after us. Will be back soon

Food all tasty and hot. Missed out on 5 stars only because the menu was a bit unadventurous. Waitress serving us was an absolute star. Where Emma particularly excelled was how well she dealt with the young children within our party, attentive, patient and entertaining. A natural when it comes to customer service and a credit to the establishment.

Went in for Tuesday evening meal. Staff member Erin's customer service she excelled herself absolutely amazing. The meal was just delicious.

Came in for Sunday dinner as hadn’t been here before. Staff were lovely. The restaurant and bar had a lot of character too it, with the old Mailcoach feel. Read they do functions , birthdays and funerals here, within the function suite. Dinner was great. Steak Pie was lovely the gravy sauce was very strong and rich. Recommend this. They also have Gluten Free menu section. As well as a vegan section on the menu too, if people were looking for this.

At a funeral and was rushed in and out also wouldn't let you buy a drink at the bar and couldn't wait to get us out the door it's changed a lot and not for the good

Family gathering clearly short of staff to cater for normal drop in clients. Food was incredibly slow to be served almost 1 hour from ordering to first course served. Scanty garnishing. Main course served another hour after starter served. Think twice for a function booking. Next to no vegetarian options for main course.

If it wasn't for this one single of Winston I would give five star to this place. Whereby the owner, a Mr Moussa, had the audacity to keep winking a female in the restaurant! She was clearly very unnerved and uncomfortable by his mannerisms to her. The food was exquisite and the staff were very nice. About the singular incident just left a sour taste to come back again under this owner.

Excellent food ordered here tonight. I have been to the restaurant on a few occasions but wanted to try a takeaway as it is my birthday today. Food was excellent and I really liked the fact the dishes were all separated. First class service. The best takeaway in the area I would say.

Just back from funeral people were waiting 45mins for tea n coffee got served pint quicker told we couldnt approach bar for a drink .paid £400 fot 2 hours and 30mins WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS HORRIBLE PLACE TO ANYONE ESPECIALLY PEOPLE WHO ARE GREIVING THEY WILL MAKE YOU FEEL WORSE ITS 5MINS ON MAIN ROAD FROM DALDOWIE CREM

This was nothing more than just perfect. Amazing fresh fish n chips.

Food was really tasty but the kids menu pricing needs to be clearer. £11 for a bowl of tomato pasta for a 2 year old is excessive. When we questioned our bill we were told its 3 courses for £11 on the kids menu but were not told this on ordering and no prices on the menu. Great value for bigger kids who might actually eat a 3 course dinner but definitely not worth it for toddlers.

Great catering and excellent respectful service for post funeral functions

We stopped by here in passing and it surpassed expectations. The outside looks a little tired but the inside was traditional and cosy. The food choice was vast, cooked fresh on order and was delicious. The staff were friendly and courteous and all round excellent. Would definitely come here again.

The food was amazing, and so tasty, cooked fresh to order,which is a bonus, no ding ding meals here. Iain our host and server was so hospitable and friendly, great place 👍. Huge slice of battered fish with chips, tartar sauce, wedge of lemon and pickled onion.chicken with great peppercorn sauce, seasonal veg, mince n tatties. All plates were left empty. Yum .

Was at a funeral purvey. Good food but service was a bit slow

We attended a funeral of a family member on Friday 10.05.2024. The purvey was absolutely poor for £12.99 a head. For a table of six we were lucky to have 2 Finger sandwiches, 2 x sausage rolls and they were cold and uncooked and the scones would have knocked you out if you were hit by one. The tea and coffee we had to ask to bring out. This was a disgusting way to treat a family at such a vulnerable time.. The manager was no where to be seen,but they leave their staff to pick up the flack. The member of staff who did look after us was very attentive towards us (Iain). Thank you if it was not for him we would have been left sitting waiting. I will never attend your establishment again or spend hard earned cash there ever.

We have been to the mailcoach many times and will continue to do so. On our recent visit 28/4/24 it was a last minute booking for my mother's 91st birthday and Dino and staff were as usual very friendly and attentive. Thanks for the lovely happy birthday song at the dessert service. The food in the mailcoach is simply outstanding and very good value for money. All in all the best place in Glasgow for a really special dining experience

We have been to the mailcoach many times and will continue to do so. The service is excellent and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is simply amazing and certainly value for money. We took my mother on her 91st birthday and even although it was last minute the girls added a nice little touch by singing happy birthday to her as they delivered her dessert. My Daughter Yvonne had a surprise 70 th Birthday for me on Saturday 13/4/2024 .The manager and staff were good and the food was lovely I had 19 adults and 3 kids and everyone enjoyed their food I will be back soon thank you for putting things in place for my special day .

Sadly I was there for a funeral. The decor is more welcoming and comfortable now, staff are very pleasant and work hard. Only complaint was chips were overdone, and unedible.

We have been coming to the Mailcoach for a good while now and the food never disappoints. Great tasting food and fantastic value for money. The staff are always fab and really friendly and go above and beyond. We recently celebrated a birthday and the night was perfect ! We will be back again and again !

Had a lovely meal with friends this afternoon. Haven't been here for a few years & what a difference. The ambience & service was great & we had a lovely welcome from Dino, Iain & the girls. The fish & chips was the the best I've had we enjoyed all the food. Will definitely be back as all the food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing!

Avoid at all costs the manager rang to ask me today ‘what I actually wanted’ when I explained I had a function booked and had been in to the premises a few times since Christmas, speaking to his staff on the phone and had emails he hurled abuse at me and said no that means nothing and not to turn up on the day as someone else now has that date. I was sitting in a work meeting and answered as I thought it was my dentist calling back I was mortified as a member of staff asked who that was raising his voice. Glad I found out before a function what he was like as I wouldn’t want my son’s day ruined.

The staff were very friendly and helpful the food was excellent unfortunately for me there were a few stairs with wood on the edges Which I slipped on but it didn't stop me from enjoying the hospitality of the experience if you do visit this establishment mind the steps inside you definitely won't be disappointed with the staff well done mail coach but get the wood off the stairs before someone else slips

A nice place where you can eat really well. I was there with my children and we were all satisfied. We had dinner and then dessert and everyone enjoyed it very much. We left the restaurant full and satisfied, and that's the most important thing. Very nice service. I will come back there and I can recommend this place to everyone.

Called in without reservation could not have been made more welcome by Dino and staff.. My friend had the chicken balmoral , the men had beer battered haddock and I had cajun chicken, all delicious. Food was hot, tasty and well presented, the service was excellent, we could not ask for more

Had my 2 sisters in town last week for a visit and showed up without a reservation as they were closing up after a busy day . The owner Dino I believe could have easily refused service but he re-opened the kitchen and served us to a fantastic standard. Fab experience staff and food amazing. .. very attentive team a credit to Dino. First time attending the mailcoach , have to say myself and wife were pleasantly surprised. Dino the owner went out of his way to find us a table. It was a short wait to be seated at our table which was fine. Staff and owner Dino were clean , well presented and professional and attentive to our meal requests. Waited about 20mins maybe a touch longer to have our main meal, my wife had steak pie and mash i had the fish and chips . My wife was really happy with hers as was I with the fish ....we both finished our dinner !!. Reading previous messages im aware of what others would have suggested as rude behaviour or strange behaviour from a certain staff member or the owner Dino. From my experience I find this very hard to believe. We didn't have an issue with any staff member or Dino and in fact he made us feel very welcoming. All staff were very friendly , they smiled and didn't rush us at any point. The atmosphere was candlelight on a rustic style table , Place was spotless and clean. If you’re looking for quiet meal and relaxed atmosphere this is the place to go. Another things you don't see anymore How kind and considerate Dino is to his staff. We overheard him asking his staff if they had dinner and if they said no he insisted they go and have some food and he took over there duties. We thought that was absolutely amazing. I have a lot of respect for owners that are kind and take care of their staff and it really shows. I absolutely love this place and definitely will recommend to all.

Lunch visit with family don’t be put off by outside of building which is in need of some TLC as inside won’t disappoint. Restaurant was quiet a very friendly waitress seated us then quickly came for drinks order, our food took about 30mins but that was fine as freshly cooked . Food lovely small problem with 1 order but waitress sorted it out n Dino also came over to explain what had happened great service. We will be back soon.

My father’s funeral was in Daldowie Crematorium on the 19th January and afterwards was back at The Mailcoach. After phoning 3 week ago we were invited over by the owner Dino to see the place for ourselves before we booked. We were met by Dino and shown around. We were offered a complimentary drink where my mother had a very nice coffee. Dino the owner went through the packages they offer and we were happy to proceed with booking. The night before Dino called us to make sure everything was still ok for the next day which was a nice touch. On the day Dino and his amazing staff couldn’t have been any better. Kindness, empathy and nothing ever being a problem where paramount, which was great considering it was a very difficult day. Food was excellent, venue was excellent, staff were excellent, we couldn’t have asked for anymore. 
 . We can’t thank Dino and his beautiful staff enough for making an extremely hard day being a little bit easier.

Spent £200 wine £24 per bottle. Been 4 times before but this time Honestly not worth half this amount. Will look elsewhere next time.
