The Riverside Inn in Ashford

Lovely friendly staff and great atmosphere. Great choice of food - opted for the roast chicken, which came with an excellent selection of veg. Best syrup and sponge pudding that I’ve ever tasted. I would definitely recommend.

We ordered Sunday lunch my wife’s beef was tough it was difficult to cut through, my lamb what there was of it hard and chewy l couldn’t eat it. The vegetables were all overcooked, and tasteless, the lady sitting next to us sent her chicken back because it was pink, all in all a horrible experience.

I’ve eaten here a number of times with great food . Not realising the last owners had left a few weeks before . The menu was limited and the new owners have apparently taken over the pub with no previous experience. Couldn’t even be bothered to go across the road to Asda to get in food for the booked tables . Unfortunately this once great pub will be boarded up in Ashford. Very very disappointed. Will not go back ….. Generous in one rating !

Booked for a family lunch. Arrived to find it looking and feeling clean and friendly, that's where the good stuff ends. 1pm and I'd say the business was very quiet, only 3 or 4 other tables being used. Kids Pizza for £7 and what you actually get is a tiny 50p frozen job from Iceland (probably Brakes to be more specific) which was cold and served with cold soggy chips. Starters were small and fairly tasteless. Nothing fresh, all defrosted and microwaved / deep fried. After 90 minutes! We still hadn't received mains, been offered another drink and the dirty starter plates were still on our table, despite the staff having walked past us half a dozen times. 2 mains arrived after another 10 minutes. Another 10 minutes later I had to go and ask where the other 2 mains were (at this stage we were the only customers in the whole place) and were told "5 more minutes" then out came 2 dry, over cooked and under-seasoned Burgers again with the signature cold soggy chips. A truly appalling level of service rivalled only by the atrocious quality of food.

After going here for many years and never having a problem. Went ere today for first time since John and teresa left and was hugely disappointed, booked via email as online booking didn’t show on website, got a confirmation email back but when we turned up was told no booking for us , we were told unless we wanted burger , wraps or Mexican nothing else was available. My burger was raw but when we complained we were told that it’s just the spices out into the burger that apparently make it that colour and I could have it back if I wanted it , I declined, then when we asked for the bill we were still charged for a meal that I never ate . Absolutely disgusting. This pub won’t last long under these new people

To our delight, the food arrived promptly, piping hot, and without the usual long wait times. It certainly feels like there's been a change in management, and if so, they're off to an excellent start. Wishing the new team every success – we'll definitely be back!

Following hip surgery, my partner and I arrived for a meal before Christmas, and stood at the bar completely ignored whilst I was standing on crutches. When I mentioned that I was on crutches and could we be seated, we were then taken to a table, and were given a drink and menus, but then no-one took our order, and so after 30 minutes, when someone finally asked us for our order, we decided with such poor customer service, we would leave. Unfortunately, service over time has really deteriorated at the Riverside Inn, to a point we are just not prepared to return under the current management. A really sad reflection on current UK customer service levels generally. A real shame. Would not recommend Riverside Inn, having previously been a real favourite of ours under previous management.

Very tasty lamb shank. When I found a lamb shank on the menu at pubs, I ordered it. This lamb shank was nice.

Had Christmas meal which was very nice. The bar staff were new and seemed to struggle a bit serving drinks. However there table service was excellent.

My husband and I went to Ashford outlet shops. I had Googled where to eat as there are not too many places in the outlet. The pub restaurant was about 10 minutes from the outlet. Very welcoming,food smelt lovely,as we went in, which made us hungry. My husband ordered whitebait for starters, which he said was lovely. He had the sausage and mash, and I had the steak,ale, and mushroom pie with chips and gravy. Which was absolutely lovely, very filling. I couldn't finish it For dessert, I had Lemon meringue pie (I found a little space in my stomach for that) If you're going to the outlet, give this restaurant a try. Staff were so approachable and friendly

Fantastic little hidden gem! Food is fantastic for the price alot better than what's offered in the outlet center just across the road well worth it! The staff are lovely and friendly too.

I had a lovely lunch here with my friend for the first time last month and can honestly say it’s the best I’ve had in any pub for a long long time. I have taken several more friends here since for lunch and my partner for dinner in the evening. The food both at lunchtime and the evening has been exceptional, good portions, fresh and everything clean. Desserts were also gorgeous The staff are lovely and will accommodate individual requests if they are able to and the alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks are served in fresh clean glasses every visit. If you like it outside there’s a lovely marquis even on rainy days, play area for kids and the toilets are spotless I will be taking other friends and family there and will definitely recommend this as a lovely friendly place to have a meal and a drink anytime of the day . This is my new favourite eatery

Booked for Sunday lunch. Excellent service from Tory and her Polish colleague (sorry I didn’t get your name). Food was hot and vegetables fresh. Unfortunately the beef came in very thick slices and was quite chewy. Prices were reasonable and London Pride was excellent.

A beautifully quiet place for lunch today. The drinks and food were of the highest quality, with very friendly service and very reasonable prices. Recommended!!

Friendly staff and wonderful service, food was piping hot and fairly quick to arrive, with generous portions and everything was delicious, will definitely go back next time we are in the area.

Came here for lunch on Tuesday, will never return, waited 15 mins for drinks ( two bottles of sparkling water, glass of tap water and a beer ). It took a further 20 mins for our nacho starter to arrive. I was with two kids they were starving we had to wait a further 20 mins for our mains to come. One veggie lasagna, two chicken burgers and a scampi and chips. The chips were unevenly cooked, some hard some very soft. The lasagna was very hot, I burnt the inside of my mouth. The kids burgers were also extremely hot. The food was below average standard and the wait for the food way too long. The lady who I told we have waited 40 mins for food, disagreed and was quite dismissive. I found her very rude. The outside of the pub smelt bad too either bad drainage or animal poo.

It was a nice experience at this pub for the first time. The chips we ordered were nice and I felt the rest of the food items would be nice. The staff there are really nice. Although the parking space was limited, I could find a space to park when I arrived on a weekday evening. Would love to come back again.

Avoid Sunday Roast lunch unless you like tough dry meat, served on cold plates and a selection of vegetables barely warm. and check drink prices.It was our first visit, they are selling up and obviously not interested in new customers. Was also initially charged £7 odd for a tonic and half lager, which was immediately reduced to £4.75.

This pub is a hidden gem. It is walking distance from the outlet shopping centre and fairly close to the Centre of Ashford. You wouldn't know it on approach but this pub has a serene riverside beer garden, traditional seating inside and a new (at time of writing) play area for kids. The food was excellent. We stopped for a lunchtime snack. Between us we had a fish finger wrap, a sausage baguette and the Cajun chicken and bacon salad. The salad was amazing with tender and flavoursome chicken. The staff were friendly, calm and couldn't be more helpful.

Beautiful little pub opposite the outlet. Lots of in door and outdoor seating with a marquee and lovely outdoor play area that's secure with beautiful surroundings. The river views are lovely. We had the place to ourselves practically in the weekday afternoon after visiting Ashford's outlet centre. There is parking and it's also walking distance to the train station. The champagne salmon is most certainly worth a try. Reasonable prices for pints and wine and lovely staff. Toilets were clean and the decor is traditional but not out dated. Really nice pub well worth a visit and walking distance to a few others including the Locomotive and curious brewery. We have this on our alternative Ashford pub crawl. We typically have one drink in each pub and enjoy a walk on the way.

Hidden Gem near Ashford Outlet. Big Serving, Affordable, Nice meal, Nice Sunday Roast!

After passing the Riverside Inn on dozens (or hundreds) of times, I had never seen anything about it to attract me and my wife to venture in for a meal, thinking it was just another pub, plus we weren’t sure how to get to it anyway, but we decided to give it a try, being well prepared to be disappointed, and tick another possible venue off our list, as we have done on so many occasions. We found the Riverside Inn and entered, it was very cold outside, but we were welcomed by a lovely warmth in the bar, and a warm welcome by the landlord and his very charming waitress, the decor of the bar and restaurant was appealing, the area was clean and very presentable, we were shown to our table by the lovely Emily, who really looked as to enjoy her work, (as a side issue, she had beautiful brown eyes and a lovely smile) she was helpful, kind, and efficient, and had a warm sense of humour. The food in the Riverside Inn was as good as any that we have tried, and there was a very good range, and large portions. We offer the restaurant and staff 9.5/10 (no Guinness zero) We look forward to our next visit, when we will try the Sunday lunch. Peter and Rosslyn Allen

Lovely atmosphere, food was delicious and great portions definitely recommend staff were lovely and had a lovely evening I only took one picture but my friends had different meals, one had the lasagne which came in its own dish on another plate that had chips and salad, another had the burger which you could tell was freshly made and big, another had the veg burger which again you could tell was freshly made everyone said there's was really tasty

The food and service are excellent. There's a playground outside, too, and it's right near patha for walking and biking.

Fantastic find. Excellent pub food at reasonable prices. Service was excellent too. There appeared to be only 2 young ladies working when we were there on the 14th May. 1 taking orders and serving food and drink. The other cooking the food. Both did so with a very pleasant demeanour. A credit to the pub. If you go to the Ashford outlet stores, I highly recommend making the short walk to the Riverside Inn for a meal.

The best chicken roast. Hands down. Go for it. The gravy, cheesy cauliflowers, roasted chicken breast, all of them are too good. The quantity is also great. The other surprise was the Breaded Brie Wedges. This is the first time I had it and I think it's one of those starters that go with any drink/season.

I had not been to this pub for many years, although in it's previous guise and not as the Riverside Inn. The choice of food was good and all the dishes served for our group were very good. The service was also very good with very pleasant staff.

Stop on the way home back to London staff were friendly and helpful. Food was so good best Sunday lunch I have had for a long time . £14 and the choice of vegetables is great. Such good value. I recommend this pub also will definitely be returning.

Took a punt on this place. Didn't know any places where we could eat in Ashford so googled it. Oh my goodness so glad we found this place. Will definitely return. The food is marvellous. Fresh veg and lots of it and good variety. Can't recommend this inn enough. I had lamb roast although there were other meat choices my husband had scampi both well cooked and hot.

Brilliant, friendly staff, small dining room with excellent dishes and reasonably priced bottles of wine. As good a pub as you can get. Much recommended.

We were on our way back to Dover from London and had stopped off at the nearby Outlet Centre for some essential shopping. Feeling peckish before our return ferry to France, I looked up on Tripadvisor where we could get a nice evening meal. I found The Riverside Inn which looked promising. It being a Friday evening I was a bit worried about whether we could still get a table for 4 persons, but the lovely lady who took my call was very positive and extremely helpful. You can actually walk here over a bridge to this pub from the Outlet Centre but we took the car and parked right outside for free. The same young lady greeted us warmly and showed us to our table. I couldn't resist a decent pint of London Pride and then ordered the full rack of ribs with crispy sweet potato chips which were delicious. My son went for a modest sized chicken dish and the same sweet potato chips. My German friends struggled a bit to make themselves understood but our polite server was patient and helped them out. They also went for fruity ciders, both the alcoholic and non alcoholic versions. All good. By the time that we had left, later that same evening we were surprised and disappointed for the owners/staff that they were no other customers. We really loved this place, and we would encourage you to visit if in the area.

Very nice little place. The lady serving us was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. We had baguettes with chips answered the food was top quality. Our son had something off the kids menu which was also lovely. Portion sizes great!

4th time coming here and the staff always consistently impress. The food was beautifully cooked and presented, the service was non intrusive and attentive, and the overall atmosphere was calming and relaxing. Always a pleasure to dine here!

Excellent friendly helpful service with a wonderful carvery Sunday lunch. We made our reservation online and by mistake booked Saturday instead of Sunday - but the wonderful ladies who met us did their utmost to not only make space for us but also to make us feel welcome and as comfortable as possible. We couldn’t speak highly enough of the excellent service, food and friendly kindness at this place. Will definitely come again when we next visit Ashford.

Great place to go to. Easy to access, Christmas menu was good but could do with veggie alternative "meat" options. Otherwise really lovely place to go to.

If I could give this ten stars I would. What a find for Sunday lunch for 4 on the spur of the moment. You have to book or you will be disappointed. Not with the food though. What fantastic choice of meat and deserts with great service and hospitality we were not rushed either. I would highly recommend this pub. I would have every lunch there if I was local too thank you.

Nice place my steak was tuf served with a salad which was just a garnish, orders skinny steak with green salad, hunter chicken was just a chicken breast with a little cheese on top and under cooked bacon, skin left on the chicken which was not crisp and no bbq sauce basically ok but won't go back.

Booked this for a late lunch prior to going to the cinema. Not sure what to expect but - the Sunday Roast was superb, 3 had the lamb and I had the chicken, chicken was good but wished I had, had the lamb when I saw it. Followed it with a pudding and all for £20. Excellent food, service and a bargain. Highly recommended.

Meh, was okay I guess. A bit expensive for what it is. Some members of party has the roast, some of the beef was un-edible, as tough as boot. My burger was nice but not worth £16…. The crackling was nice though. Probably wouldn’t eat here again though. Staff were very nice though and the food came out quite quick.

What a lovely little pub! Set just off of the road near ashford designer outlet! A lovely little find! Brilliant menu, plenty of choice for all, with lots of different dishes - even the pickiest people would be able to find something! Food is delicious! We all had something different, and we all loved our choices! We ordered: chicken fajita’s, quesadillas, steak and mushroom pie and sirloin steak! Hot food, very yummy and packed full of flavour! Beautifully presented and a decent sized portion! We were served by Emily, who was amazing! So friendly and welcoming! A true asset to the team! We look forward to returning in the future! Thank you so much for a lovely meal!🙌🏼

This pub is fantastic. The food is delicious and the staff are wonderful. I would like to mention Emily in particular. The service she provided was outstanding. She was kind, helpful, polite and professional. I have Coeliac Disease and therefore require a gluten free diet. I have to say, it was one of the best gluten free meals I've had. The other three people in my group do not have not Coeliac Disease, and they said their meals were delicious too.

We went for Sunday Roast. One is vegetarian. Was delicious. Staff was very friendly.

I live nearby so I go here to eat as often as I can - certainly if I want a special evening out with family or friends. The food is delicious!

Booked for a party of 14 of us, and right from the booking the staff were very helpful as we had a number of diatry requirements which they were able to help us with. We had a very warm welcome when we arrived and the food was served promptly, and all came out together, which doesn't always happen ever where I have been. The food was really great, everyone loved their food. And the staff were lovely. We sat in the markey, which was spacious, and suited us ver well. This is not an area we visit often, but if we are back this way, I would definitely choose this pub again.

Great atmosphere but food is just not that good. Where are these 5 star reviews coming from? Place is nice, staff is nice. Presentation of food is nice (for bangers and mash, tower burger is bad), but burger patty is dry, bread is bad, its like supermarket £2 bread qualify.

We drove miles to eat here as it was supposed to be dog friendly and we really fancied the rib meal. Upon arrival after ordering drinks at the bar we were unpolitely told that because we had a dog we had to eat on the sofa in the corner that didn't even have a dinning table! It would have been quite awkward obviously to try and eat ribs sat on a sofa especially with a dog. We drank our drinks and left to find an actual dog friendly pub.

Tower burger, Jacket with prawns and Jacket with cheese and bacon. All really good, properly prepared and well priced. The pub seemed a bit quiet for a Saturday in August by the river but likely that was the rain. There is a good choice on the menu and the food on the other tables looked good. The burger was 8oz, thick, juicy and tasty, quite dense. The egg yolk was just liquid and the whole assembly looked great. The fries were hot and crispy and the salad fresh. My companions said there were loads of filling for the potatoes and no chance of going hungry. Good service, clean pub with a good atmosphere. We'll go again.

This was our 1st time at The Riverside Inn. The service was warm and welcoming from the minute we stepped through the door. The food was absolutely incredible. Hot, so delicious and the BEST pub roast dinner we've ever had. Great selection of meats which melted in your mouth, brilliant array of vegetables that were cooked to perfection. We were stuffed but we had to try the lemon merengue pie, once more the BEST pie we've had. We will most certainly be back, thank you to all that looked after us during our visit.
