The Chilli Bite in Ashford

Had a busy day so stopped off for breakfast at the church view tea rooms ashford, although it was fairly busy we were made to feel welcome by the staff. The breakfast was piping hot and all cooked to order. A big thank you to the staff members for making us so welcome. Thank you

I planned a surprise 'Tea Party' with Trevor the owner as a thank you to my friends for all their love & support this year. I knew I wanted a bespoke menu & not the 'Afternoon Tea' or 'Cream Tea', which are just as wonderful. I was so pleased to discover that a familiar high street tearoom 'Church View Tearooms' would be just the ticket. As a local I knew by reputation the quality of the food having gone there when I was in finer fettle, the setting, the crockery & ambience would all fit the image I had of what I wished. When I rang Trevor, the owner, explaining how I wanted to have a traditional tea party that you evoke from your childhood with trifle, fairy cakes, jam tarts, sausage rolls & cheese straws, he made the dream a reality, anything I asked was possible, and finer details were discussed to ensure all went well. Everything that came to our table was freshly made or freshly baked to perfection. My centre piece was a Victoria Sponge, which was beyond words to describe how it tasted, it was the 'piece de resistance', everything left was packed up to come home too with boxes he provided. My friends could not help but relish at every mouthful they took. I can not recommend 'Church View Tearooms' highly enough. The host, Trevor & staff saw to our every need, he's a lovely host and that adds to the whole experience. I think we should support our local businesses in this way, if I had never enquired about my bespoke Tea Party it would have never happened. So here is the biggest thankyou to an excellent five star deserving business. We have a real gem in our high street, don't miss out on a visit!!

Such a beautiful little tea room with amazing staff and fabulous food which was great value for money. We celebrated our 15th year wedding anniversary here with a delicious afternoon tea - sandwiches, scones, cake all freshly prepared and looked and tasted amazing And the staff where just so nice, pleasant and easy to talk to and made sure we where well looked after. I would say if your in Ashford it's well worth looking for this quaint beautiful little tea room next to St Mary's Church and enjoying some delicious food Thank you guys 😊

I absolutely LOVE this quaint little Tearoom tucked away by the tranquility of The Church in Ashford Town away from all the hustle and bustle of the High Street with outside seating beside the Church. Makes me feel like Ive been transported back in time to a much slower and simpler way of life. Extremely relaxing place to get away from all the stresses of life. The Tearoom itself is so quirky with all its original features. A lovely historical building that you can picture how people used to live whilst you sip your traditionally served tea. Perfect place for total relaxtion. The Tearoom staff are so friendly and caring too. They pay real personal attention to their customers and the Tea and variety of food is delicious. Its a MUST visit for anyone that wants to relax and enjoy a warm welcome.

Lovely fresh sandwiches, made to order. Had the pastrami and coleslaw today with a latte to wash it down, it was fantastic.

I wanted to create a new family tradition, So I decided afternoon tea for the ladies of the family was in order!! (2 x children 2 x Adults) couldn't think of anywhere else I wanted to go, so the Church View Tearooms it was. I've been in here for a number of years now, to many various occasions and have NEVER been let down. Afternoon tea was simply delicious EVERYTHING was made fresh, orders were taken for the younger members of the family for what sandwiches they would like, the Scones were simply out of this world, to be fair everything was quite simply amazing. My daughter and I had afternoon tea here today for her birthday, We had a lovely big table in the window overlooking the beautiful church . The sandwiches were tasty and so fresh, the scones were still warm and tasted amazing with the clotted cream & jam. The Victoria sponge was put into a take away box as we couldn’t eat another bite. The tea from a proper tea pot tasted so nice. This quaint little place is great and well worth a visit, we will definitely be returning. The staff are friendly and the owner found time to have a little chat with us. Thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea and will be telling friends and family to visit too. I only popped in for a quick refresher. I am glad I did. A wonderfully welcoming place. Lovely freshly prepared food and properly brewed tea in a tea pot and served in delicate china cups and saucers. Friendly staff, nice view and a good atmosphere. Everything you want from a tea room. I accidentally found this tea room, and so glad that I did, as it turned out to be one of the nicest tea rooms that I had the pleasure of visiting in a very long time. The combination of a stunning old building, pretty church view, super friendly, helpful, efficient staff and good food make this place a winning combination. We had a family visit today to the Church View tea rooms. There were 9 of us in total and we all had afternoon tea. The food and atmosphere was lovely as always. Trevor and his team are all very welcoming and can't do enough for you. We never felt rushed at any time and it was really nice touch to be all seated around a large table so we could all talk together, unlike some other places we've been to, where we have had to sit on long tables making it less sociable. I would highly recommend this Tea rooms to anyone wishing to have good food at a fair price with great hosts. Thanks again all

Although I live in Ashford I’m ashamed to say this was my first visit. My friend and I walked along the river and popped in for tea and cake. It was a lovely day so we sat outside overlooking the church. The cake was delicious...

We picked up a takeaway afternoon tea from Trevor. We requested a takeaway afternoon tea due to one person being in a wheelchair for walking distances so couldn’t make it into town. It was amazing. Soft white buttered bread with a selection of fillings of your choice (we opted for egg mayo, ham+mustard, chicken mayo and cheese and pickle). Wasn’t too keen on the chicken mayo but liked the other 3. The victoria sponge cake was also nice but the best part of the afternoon tea was definitely the scones!! I don’t think I’ve ever had such a tasty scone.

We live locally and visited Church View Tea Rooms for the first time, after a recommendation from a family member who had afternoon tea there.The greeting we received upon arrival was very friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble.There was a good selection of food available and the sandwiches we chose were very tasty, with fresh bread and quality fillings. Tea was plentiful with 3 cups each from one pot and extra hot water offered. Great atmosphere and never felt rushed at any point.We will definitely be returning and would thoroughly recommend to anybody looking for quality food and great service.

Booked table over the phone no problem, Welcome very good on arrival shown to table.Ordered tea and type of bread for sandwiches. could not fault, scones were warm and home made loverly, choice of jam and real clotted cream. Used to always pop in here when it was chilli bite. It was always delicious food and generous portions. Today, sadly, it was a real let down. The sandwiches were on bog standard white ‘plastic’ bread. The salad garnish was really pathetic - they shouldn’t have bothered. £12 for two sandwiches, pot of tea and a Diet Coke. The young lady who served us was very friendly, smiley and chatty. Sadly won’t revisit and will have now find another place to find in Ashford for a decent sandwich. On the plus side, the coleslaw is still the best!!

The cream teas are absolutely delicious, a plethora of homemade goodies and a large helping of beverages- you will not leave here with your jean top button done up! Staff are lovely too.

I booked this treat for my friend and I after reading many good reviews about it. We were greated by the proprietor Trevor who was a smashing host. The scones that are made by him are some of the best I have ever had along with a lovely selection of sandwiches and a generous portion of Victoria sponge all washed down with lovely latte coffees.Well done to you for living your dream and making Ashford that little bit more special.

A family group of 4 booked for afternoon tea. There was copious amounts of tea and a good variety of freshly prepared sandwiches. There's something tasty about sandwiches without crusts! The scones were huge and fresh from the oven....I think the tastiest I've ever eaten!! Choice of jams and plenty of clotted cream. A decent slice of cake of which we took some home as we were to full up!! Would definitely return.

Trevor is very generous and offers the best breakfasts. Freshly cooked and the portions are way to generous. No airs and graces just good food. A pleasure to go there ...

Received a groupon for chilli bite for Mother’s Day. Reserved a table for lunchtime. Turned up, table not reserved, tables hadn’t been cleared away from previous customers. The order was taken, but took ages to arrive (possibly as scones were fresh).We were advised there was only carrot cake available on the pre-booked afternoon tea! The sandwiches were nice, scones (plain) were great with lashings of clotted cream but the cake was dry with no cream cheese frosting or any frosting at all!Disappointed but the staff were nice. Unfortunately can’t recommend and will not return.

Trevor absolutely spoilt us much to much for our three generations to eat we took the lovely cake home .Sandwiches were so fresh with plenty of filling, warm scones were perfect with cream and jam. Cake which we ate later was light fluffy tasty and fresh.Would highly recommend Will be visiting again

Lovely selection of sandwiches, light airy scones and the best coffee & walnut cake that I have ever tasted. Devine! A massive thank you to Trevor and his lovely team for an enjoyable afternoon.

Just had a fabulous afternoon tea at the Chilli Bite, it was a Groupon deal, sandwiches were fresh and plentiful, scones were warm and delicious, Victoria sponge was also scrummy. Also served as much tea as we wanted. Great value little place. Highly recommend.

In the past two weeks I have had two full afternoon teas! (As the first one was so delicious!) The cakes are so yum, the Victoria sponge are absolutely huge wedges and beautiful jam and cream and so soft. The scones....I usually wouldn't choose to eat a scone but I'm so glad I did, they were sublime, the sandwiches also very nice! All in all a win win. The staff are very pleasant, the owner came and found us and had a chat which was nice. Glad to hear this place is getting busier and busier as it is tucked away and I hadn't been there all the time I have lived in Ashford, definitely worth a visit.

Had lunch here a few times.baguettes are homemade and tasty with a good sellection.the home made cream scones are amazing and baked freshly by trevor the owner.the table area is small but comfortable and cosy.definately recommend this friendly tea room . Don't be fooled by the name, this is not a highly spiced mexican eatery but a quaint little cafe/restaurant and deli with a generous menu catering for all tastes.

I bought a groupon deal for afterjoon tea for 2 on the recommendation from a friend. Having walked past numerpus times when I've been shopping I was pleasantly surprised when I went in. The staff were very friendly and polite. We were fortunate to be seated at the window table so had a lovely view of the church. The food was delicious, freshly prepared and clearly all home made. We were even asked what sandwiches we would or wouldn't like! I will definitely be returning and would strongly recommend this little gem to everyone.

I love Chili Bite! My husband introduced me to this amazing little place years ago, and I fell in love the first bite. The owner and staff are super friendly and just so welcoming. Since moving back home, I continue to crave the chunky American. Do yourself a favor and head over there and enjoy their delicious menu!!

This is one of the best places to eat in Ashford. Not only is the food top quality, but also good value and freshly prepared by extremely polite, curteous and friendly staff. It is a charming place to have breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Everyone I know has nothing but praise for this excellent establishment and I’ve never had a poor experience on one of my many visits. I cannot understand how anyone can describe the Chilli Bite as ‘poor’! I certainly don’t agree with the single negative review recently left by another customer - is this the sane Chilli Bite that me and my friends visit regularly where we are only ever treated with the greatest respect and top customer service? I think the other positive reviews speak for themselves and potential customers are not put off by one negative review. This is definitely one of the finest eateries in Ashford! Excellent, freshly prepared food, good value for money, wonderfully friendly staff and fantastic customer service.

I went to The red hot chilli Bite and ordered a Boarvouse roll and found the fried onion burnt black and tasteless, when i phoned and complained i was told that is how one other customer liked it ( but i am South African and have never known anyone to like burnt onion , i found them to be rude when i phoned up and only after ringing back a second time did they say sorry next time your in Ashford we will sort it out for you. when i on Monday and explained i was the gent who complained about the burnt onion they made me another one and then tried to charge me again , when i reminded them that i had not eaten the first one why should i pay again, they then tried to say we will knock a pound off , i said no thanks i have already paid once and don`t what to pay a seconded time for the same item they turned rude and said here just take it !!!

Beautiful warm crunchy scones with jam and cream, and slice of ginger cake. Plenty of tea ,or really tasty coffee to go with it. Really friendly and chatty staff. Highly recommend.

WOW! This was an amazing breakfast. Cooked fresh, served on a hot plate by the chef himself. Even the toast was still warm! The coffee was great quality, bold yet smooth with a frothy top. Definitely going back for breakfast again, amazing value and great food!

Don’t be fooled by the humble looking of cafe because the food is top notch- chef said that he is still perfecting his scone making skills but they are already very delicious. Sandwiches are very tasty and the filling is very generous. All staff is very friendly and everyone has a big smile on their face :) I will definitely come back real soon!

My partner and I had a Groupon voucher for afternoon tea at the Chilli Bite, and we loved it. We’ve had plenty of afternoon teas elsewhere but the Chilli Bite hands down was the best. Generous, fresh sandwiches and cakes with fresh warm scones. All made fresh. The groupon voucher deal was £15 for 2 people, but even full price (I think it’s around £25 for two people normally) the value for money is honestly brilliant. Friendly and attentive staff too, happy to accommodate to dietary preferences, we highly recommend!!

This has been my favourite cafe for take-away sandwiches and sit down lunches for over 15 years - the ingredients are always made fresh, the serving sizes are very generous, the owners & staff are very friendly and helpful, the establishment is extremely clean and well maintained. Well worth a visit!!

I can't believe I didn't know about this place! Excellent value, very pleasant inside, with friendly staff. I had a coronation chicken sandwich and it was delicious! You can eat in, which we did, or takeaway. I now know where to go if I am stuck for lunch ideas. I understand there are gluten free options too, so it is probably suitable for coeliacs.

This is a super cafe just off the high street in one of Ashford's oldest buildings. Far better coffee than any of the chains and an excellent selection of food.

Went here for a salad today and it was amazing. My girls had sandwiches they were lovely too!! My daughter is vegetarian and I'm gluten free and they were able to cater easily for our dietary requirements. Can't wait to go back again!

As a south African I was very happy to find a place that serves south african food. I do think the boerewors roll can do with a little bit less onion and maybe try it with Mrs balls chutney. It will be a winner.

Trevor has done an outstanding job from the refurbishment, amazing 'taste of home' South African breakfast and very welcoming atmosphere. We have been a handful of times and The Chilli Bite is our number one destination for a good quality, well presented and affordable Ashford Breakfast!

Called in here for some lunch with my mum. Sandwiches were freshly made and were delicious, a decent pot of tea too! Will definitely be back! Really enjoyed our visit.

This is a cosy tea room in the high Street at Ashford, the staff are very friendly and helpful. If you fancy a generously filled baguette or sandwich call in, very good value for money and the proprietor is a real gentleman. Will make this my local when visiting Ashford.

After recently changing hands, I thought I would revisit the Chilli Bite after an absence to be thrilled that the Chilli Bite is back to its very best. After meeting the new owner, I have been in a few times to sample the tasty, fresh food which is served in comfortable and clean surroundings. Having a chat with the new owner, he has already attracted a regular customer base that he well deserves for his efforts. I look forward to continuing to use the Chilli Bite in the future and the exciting times that lay ahead for this culinary gem. About time things have once again looked up!

I've visited the chilli bite twice, and ordered a jacket potato each time. The younger staff didn't use gloves! I was totally appalled! How can a restaurant not know to use gloves? Unless they want to get reported. The second time I went, the lady wore gloves which I was happy about until she went up the stairs holding on to the railing with them on. What's the point of wearing them?? They should only be worn to touch food! I'm really appalled with this place. Also, prices are too much for what you get. Not going here again!

Visited the Chilli Bite in Ashford for the first time, its tucked away in a little St off the main shopping road..backs on to a lovely church which you can view from the cafe window....the baguettes are out of this world, stuffed full of a great variety of yummy things at very reasonable prices...they also do more unusual fillings....well worth a visit,, nicer than your run of the mill chain coffee shop

Tasty sandwiches with fresh fillings, can be eaten in the restaurant area or takeaway. I had the salami sandwich which is always a winner for me. Next time I'm in the area I will pop in for another sandwich.

We were Christmas shopping in Ashford & was in need of a cup of tea & a sit down . We found by chance this sweet little sandwich shop.We were warmly greeted and seated in a charming little tea room we had our tea & decided to eat too. Our sandwiches were freshly made & very full presentation was good & great value for money. At last gluten free options available as well as jacket potatoes and amazing homemade coleslaw. A large variety of sandwiches baguettes and cakes too!! Great value with sandwich and drink offers. Will be back again soon!

Often used The Chilli Bite a while back when Robert and Tania Lewin had place and the food was excellent, but whatever has happened in recent times, its a wonder he (the owner) has any custom at all. As I say, my wife and I always compliment the ladies there on the food and service, but often avoid the place when the old man is there. He is rude, scruffy and arrogant. Have heard him speaking badly to his staff. Never any stock. My friends at the hairdresser stopped going there after the mans appearance and in particular his nails were seen to be unappetising. Someone confirmed that the place is being taken over by someone who knows what they are doing pretty soon. Can't come soon enough as the man seemingly loses clientele built up from the Lewin's days.

I treat myself to lunches here frequently and really enjoy their baguettes and salads. If you're stuck for what to have for lunch, this place should be on your list of frequent haunts! Everything is freshly made to order and nothing is too much trouble. Really friendly staff too.

I liked the food and that they do a frequent flyer program for a free meal. The tables out the back are a little drafty but all in all it was nice.

5 of us popped in here for lunch mid-week. Although I have to admit the service was a little slow (especially in taking our drinks order), the food did not disappoint. All of us had jacket potatoes, they were cooked really well with nice crispy skins - definitely oven baked rather than microwaved. I had the coronation chicken filling and it was delicious! Huge portion sizes, I didn't eat for the rest of the day! And all great value at only £5.95! Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in Ashford.

Fantastic! Looking for lunch on a wet miserable day, stumbled upon The Chilli Bite which at first we thought was a take-away ... Very friendly warm welcome from the staff, extensive and interesting menu ... What to choose? Jacket potato with prawns and an amazing side salad was delicious (generous portion too), and a New York Deli baguette was equally delicious and satisfying. Will definitely come again and recommend to anyone.

We didn't know the shopping area and were looking for somewhere to have a late lunch snack. So glad we came across The Chilli Bite. All the staff were very pleasant and there was a good choice of the type of food we wanted. I ordered my all-time favourite lunch - a tuna jacket potato which included a salad garnish and it was one of the best I've tasted! All too often these days too much mayonnaise is mixed with the tuna but this was just perfect. The salad, too, was an interesting mixture of textures, including home-made coleslaw, sweetcorn, red peppers and an onion relish, which made a change from just lettuce and cucumber. Yummy!

A good sandwich bar with lots of choice and good quality ingredients. They also do chilli, curries and have a good menu of pre-designed sandwiches.Friendly staff, fast service; I have been going here for years and would highly recommend it for a more indulgent version of the Boots or M&S sandwich deals.
