Beautiful pub, great location and scenery especially on a sunny day. Shame about the food.

A proper "locals" pub. Warm welcome and felt very appreciated by staff. Massive screen for sports but we found a cosy corner and enjoyed a nice evening.

Brilliant, great service and great food

The only thing going for this pub is that it is by the river, I didn't see any ales on tap, food was average but not cheap, also a lot of debris on the floors from the previous day? ( I was in early on a Sunday so not " new") and the mens toilet is in desperate need of a makeover

Nice location and a relaxed atmosphere, but the food was disappointing. My partner and I were shocked to receive a processed chicken burger . The menu mentioned sweet chili , but there was none to be found. It’s a pity because, as I mentioned, the setting and vibe are really nice.

Love this place and come often. Beer garden backs onto the water and you can watch the boats and ducks go by. Only rated food lower as haven't had it. Staff are friendly and you feel welcome and safe here.

Sorry but £4.50 for a pint of Pepsi max is outrageous in general let alone coming out of a BOTTLE of Pepsi max that I can buy from Tesco for £2 - absolutely baffled honestly

Wonderful location, epic garden.. Ate here twice now and food very average / below par. No roasts available on a Sunday either ? Will return for drinks but not for food..

Its okay. Bar service good, interior decorated like a proper pub not a souless spoons type affair. Good pub garden by the river though furniture could do with update. Food was average. Food service was functional rather than friendly. So not great but not really bad either.

Only popped in for a drink, but we were pleasantly surprised by the garden area. Menu was limited but sufficient, just wish we hadn't already eaten. Would return if we are in the area again.

Mediocre food and a crackling radio

A very small menu. Food was dry. The dauphinoise potatoes, well.... no cream, no garlic ! It was literally slices of plain potatoes with white residue. The waiters were lovely , all the staff were. It was clean aswell. I sat near the doors going onto the smoking area and there were continuously being slammed !

From the outside, The River Garden looks unusual and quirky, inside is a traditional local pub. I was expecting pub food but was pleasantly surprised by some of the higher end dishes on offer. Brie wedges with Strawberry compote, Supreme of chicken with Dauphinoise potatoes and a red wine jus, there were also the traditional dishes like Cod and chips but all were cooked really well, no soft greasy batter! We had a great night out although there needs to be some work done to the gents.

Traditional drinking pub. Very friendly and lovely fire going on a cold evening. In the summer this pub has some of the best river drinking in Norwich with a lovely beer garden at the rear.

We hosted a 25th birthday party at the Rivergarden this weekend in the Function Room. This was a really great space with large tables we could use for boardgames, a large TV with netflix and prime video as well as a music system in the room. The space was also easily adaptable with areas to pin up birthday banners and a backdrop for photos. The toilets were just down the stairs to the room (you don't have to go through the bar to get to them which was great for us as were were dressed in cowboy costumes), the bar is also just downstairs with reasonably priced drinks and excellent food which was delivered to us in the Function Room. The Function Room has it's own external access which made it easy to bring everything into the room and made it feel like a really private event. The organisation/booking was quick and easy with the owners via email and phone who seemed just as excited for us to come and use the space as we were and they allowed us to have Berts Amazing Creatures come along too which was wonderful! I would definitely recommend the Rivergarden as as place to host parties as well as just go for food and drinks!

Many thanks for hosting 10 of us at short notice (instant!) for a meal on 15 Dec 2023, when our booked Christmas meal nearby didn't happen because of evacuation due to a safety issue. Lovely meal, good table and ambiance, staff were great. You saved what could have been a disastrous yearly reunion.. we had a great time 🥰 Definitely be back in the new year !

Just enjoyed our Xmas party here. Great value hot buffet,tasty and definitely plenty of food for our party. Had our own Bluetooth disco with use of the pubs equipment,Landlord also provided Karaoke for us all. Very easy going venue,will definitely arrange another meet up here.

Popped here on the off chance of some food. Well we weren't disappointed. Lovely lady at the bar, very helpful. Food, Sea Bass was so nice I can't stop thinking about it. Shame we were travelling, I would have happily stayed until last orders. My only regret.... I didn't have dessert, bloomin well will next time though. Thanks Rivergarden, we like you 10/10.

Sorry but the pub has gone downhill big style. It's such a beautiful setting, right up to the river bank. However, I really fancied a nice Sunday roast. We sat down and immediately noticed the table wasn't particularly clean 😐, salt and pepper pots were grubby and looking around the rest of the place, it too needed a good clean. Anyway, got our drinks and the menu, no roast!! It's a Sunday!!! Ended up with a children's scampi, not impressed. As I said, such a prime location with the chance to be at the top of their game.

First time visit to pub, excellent location right next to the River, large garden overlooking the River. Ideal for a party. The service was very good, pleasant and polite. Parking okay. Certainly can recommend this pub.

The food wasn't the greatest. The pork loins that I had were quite overcooked and tough to eat. The desserts were nice. The outside seating by the river is beautiful

Had a lovely dinner and drink here - they even had some live folk players! Such an awesome pub by the river.

Main and drinks came quick enough. But the dessert I ordered which was just a chocolate brownie and sticky toffee sauce and 'vanilla ice cream' was around 30 minutes late to come. And the vanilla ice cream I ordered wasn't plain vanilla ice cream either.

Worst burger I have ever had, better quality from a burger van at Carrow road, frozen ping meals

Ordered a salmon main meal where you needed a magnifying glass to find the salmon on the plate and when we did we found what little there was so overcooked it looked closer to charcoal than salmon. When raising this with the lady who took the order she was totally verbally dismissive and visually indifferent. A pity as a nice location but the meal and the lady left a lot to be desired.

Spent 5 days just down the road from this superb pub, food was great as was the service and hospitality from the very genuine and helpful staff. Really recommend a visit to this stunning location.

Took some visiting friends! The scampi was lovely with chips, peas, and salad. Shame about the pie which the men had. The base was very hard on both pies! Took some cutting and eating but they did get eaten. Should have left them. Spoiled what was a nice visit. All staff very pleasant though! Would have given 5 stars except for the above reason!

I fell in the river when canoeing and luckily was right by the Rivergarden. The staff were lovely in helping me get dry and even offered to tumble dry my wet clothes! I spent an unexpected hour in the pub watching the football and having a drink. Lovely atmosphere and lovely staff! Thanks

I visited The Rivergarden for a pint and jacket potato lunch recently when I was in the Thorpe St Andrew area. Friendly service and lovely surroundings, right on the bank of one of the main rivers flowing through Norwich.

Nice food, but appalling service in the afternoon. Once mains had been delivered, no one came to check on us. We had to approach the bar to get served, which was not something we were told was applicable when entering.

Lunch here on Sunday,19/02/23. Polite staff. Clean venue.Drink selection good. Roast beef tender,Yorkshire pudding burnt,roast potatoes & parsnips undercooked,not golden or crispy,very pale. Carrots & cabbage ok,but would’ve been nice to have an alternative green veg like peas. Menu states ‘with a jug/boat of gravy’ but gravy was already poured onto the meal. Expected the gravy to be given separately to choose how much to put on meal. Additional gravy in a boat is given if requested. Nobody came to us during the meal to check if all was ok. A few tweaks would make this £12.95 roast value for money.

A beautiful little pub. Not for burger lovers. A disappointing burger over sold on a novelty build your burger theme - "now load up your burger" cheese, cheese or maybe a bit of chilli? Wouldn't have been so bad if it was a tasty beef patty in a well put together stack. Think basic catering van burger with a bit of lettuce and tomato. However, the chips were good! Deserts were a little underwhelming with the smallest amount of custard or ice cream to accompany a mediocre sticky toffee pudding. The thing that made it for us was the staff- 100% superb!!

We were a party of 10 who recently had our xmas meal at the River Garden. The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was tasty, hot with decent portions. Special mention to the home made lemon cheesecake which just melted in your mouth. We will definitely be back

Im so happy with the staff at the river garden, we had a last minute change and needed a space for our quarterly meeting. And they provided food and a warm space not only that and little to my knowledge some of our team required a quiet space and they provided. Great food great team

Stopped in for a quick pint and a chat in the autumn sunshine beside the river. Ended up having a lovely fish and chips lunch. Friendly staff in a tranquil setting. Go take a look.

NOT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE despite stating so at enquiry stage. My friends called in advance to ask about wheelchair accessibility before making a booking for celebration drinks and were told there was an alternative accessible route around the back and an accessible bathroom. Once we arrived and parked, it was clear that I couldn’t wheel myself. I had to be dragged backwards in the dark across the large gravel, through a small side gate, down an uneven muddy narrow path, across even more slippery mud once we reached the back to avoid the steep step onto the concrete patio, and then carried up the steep step at the back entrance. That was the UNaccessible route to the UNaccessible entrance. Had I any idea of what this so-called wheelchair access route entailed or of the danger I put my friends who were doing the pushing, pulling and carrying through, and the risks to myself, I would never have set a wheelchair wheel in there. It is absolutely disgraceful that this otherwise lovely place describes themselves as accessible!

Having paddle boarded from quite a way downstream I was very pleased to find they had a table. One excellent pint and sandwich with a side of fries, I was suitably refreshed to paddle board back to the car.

Inside is a bit dark and dreary. Lovely outside though sitting by the river and food was nice.

We had our wedding here, including our actual ceremony in front of the river, it was the perfect setting. Glenn and Kirsty went above and beyond for us and made our day so lovely and we will remember it forever. Every one of our guests were so impressed with the food, the garden, the bar and have all said this is their new pub of choice. We had the younger generation of our party in the river, it was 30 degrees, including my bridesmaid who jumped in with her dress on. Glenn and Kirsty and their team are amazing, they made our day spectacular and the food, OMG it’s so good, hands down THE best food by far. If you’re looking for a venue for an event, a quick bite to eat, dinner or just a drink or 2, this is your place, the garden is beautiful, the pub looks so cozy and welcoming and the people are so lovely to be around. If I could give this place 10 stars I would, fantastic ❤️
