I expected good service and a traditional English tea on our recent visit, what we received went far beyond expectations. I read several reviews of tea at the Ritz, quite a few of these were quite disparaging. This is a shame as our experience was wonderful.

Afternoon Tea at The Ritz – A Glamorous Bucket List Experience Afternoon tea at The Ritz is everything you’d expect—elegant, indulgent, and truly special. From the moment you step into the stunning Palm Court, you’re surrounded by glittering chandeliers, plush seating, and that classic Ritz charm. The selection of finger sandwiches is impressive, beautifully presented, and constantly replenished a dream for any foodie!. The tea menu is extensive, and the attentive staff ensure your cup is never empty. And of course, the scones and pastries? Absolute perfection. The service is superb—polite, professional, and effortlessly refined. The only downside? It can get quite loud, with the buzz of excited guests echoing through the room. But honestly, it adds to the lively atmosphere rather than taking away from the experience. A glamorous treat and a definite bucket list tick!

We initially considered booking high tea at The Savoy for December 2024 but decided to compare it with The Ritz. After evaluating both, it was clear there was no real comparison between the two. Disgusted. Shocked. Insulted. Flabbergasted. These are words I would use to describe the tall, bald, black doorman and his compadre at the other door who actively told me I could not enter the bar or restaurant because they were “full”. He physically blocked me from even entering the lobby. I was in such shock I walked away, no longer hungry. Way to be a complete tool and ruin a person’s night. Sure isn’t the Ritz hospitality they’re supposed to be known for. And not an experience I’ll EVER forget. Do better. Update: the hotel has confirmed they are independent from the Ritz Carlton and DO definitely treat people like this. What a joke. But thank goodness I don’t have to boycott the actual Ritz properties over this. Glad they didn’t steal more joy.

Had the pleasure of going all the way at staying a night. We’ve been to the ritz countless times now but always only for dinner, afternoon tea or drinks- so staying a night was next on the list. Myself and my girlfriend came for our anniversary- and the service was as sublime as it was when we came befroe. All the staff were attentive and friendly which is important to us! The room was absolutely amazing- and we even got upgraded in size for free which was a wonderful surprise for us upon arrival. It was also great to wake up to my requested newspaper. I wake up very early and it was still there before I woke up! It’s also completely which is a fantastic gesture. We also had breakfast with our room package- and it was again- amazing. So many options and very tasty. The ritz is our home when we come to London- and it will be here on our. Everything we want in a hotel, from facilities to food and staff, is at the Ritz London. We are coming back in July for a joint birthday celebration- and we are counting down the days already.

Went for festive afternoon tea. Service was brilliant, spilt a drop of coffee on saucer, and they couldn't wait to replace it. Poured all the drinks and kept replenishing the coffee / tea, sandwhiches, and cakes if you wished. They couldn't do enough for you. All staff were so attentive friendly and helpful from reception, luggage room, "powder room", cloakroom and despite several comments about doorstaff we found them pleasant and held the door etc no problems. My only criticism would be that there could be some savoury options. The cakes and buns were beautiful, but a less sweet option would be nice. Also, occassionally, there seemed to be people mulling about possibly non guests taking pictures of diners. At times, this felt a little intrusive.

We recently had the privilege of attending the New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner at The Ritz London, an unforgettable experience held in the Michelin-starred Ritz Restaurant. The food was a triumph, each dish crafted to perfection, and we were gifted a Ritz Golden Deck and golden cufflinks—sophisticated keepsakes that made the evening even more special. The night ended on a high note with a breathtaking trumpet performance at midnight, a spectacular way to bid farewell to 2024 and welcome 2025 in grand style. The day before, we indulged in The Ritz’s festive Christmas tea, enjoying fine tea and exquisite holiday cakes. It was a moment of calm luxury that perfectly set the tone for the celebrations. The Ritz’s historic lobby, rich with timeless elegance and dressed in festive decor, was a delight to step into, while the surrounding areas added to the magic with London’s holiday lights and vibrant atmosphere. Although we didn’t stay at the hotel this time, the experience has left us eager to return. The Ritz London’s impeccable service, iconic luxury, and ability to create extraordinary moments make it a destination we look forward to visiting again.

What a shame this iconic hotel has become what it has . Wonderful memories of visiting with my dear father 40 years ago prompted me to revisit perhaps for a drink or a meal whilst recently in London . Was practically accosted by a very rude doorman in nightclub bouncer style . Most decent hotels have superb Doormen and this truly is an art .Have never encountered such rudeness. Apparently my Max Mara coat and footwear were inappropriate. I fear this hotel has become a tourist trap serving poor quality afternoon teas , pre bookable red letter type trips in hotel car and catering to a certain sort of clientele. Very saddened but will try to remember the good old days of Ritz

We were planning on bringing my Great grandmother to stay for her 100th birthday but will never be returning again. If you want to go somewhere to feel special, this is not the right place. My only concern was something outside their control. I had a sixth floor room, but could still hear idiots at night and early morning blowing their car horns. At 2 am it’s not funny. I asked him to explain to me that if the shoes I am wearing are informal, what are formal shoes??? He remained silent and did not respond!!!! Afternoon tea. I was worried because it was already fully booked even two months in advance, but it is better to check the website frequently without giving up because there are a lot of cancellations as the day gets closer. Although I was a traveller whose English was not that good, I was satisfied with the polite and friendly service I received. It was also nice to be greeted in Japanese. I had a good cultural experience, being exposed to beautiful silver cutlery, luxurious furnishings and traditional tea cakes. It was also nice that takeaway bags were provided, which is unusual for a high-end restaurant, and as it was the last booking slot from 19:30, it was empty by the time we left and the staff were happy to talk to us and take photos. I'd love to go again.

My husband and I took my grandparents for afternoon tea at The Ritz last week. We had visited before, but we were keen to share the experience with them. Our visit started with the warmest of welcomes by the doormen, the mature gentleman in the top hat was delightful. Once through the revolving doors we were directed to Palm Court. The room is beautifully decorated and the piano playing makes for an atmospheric and enjoyable experience. The tea menu is extensive and the selection of sandwiches is generous. I had requested a vegetarian menu at the time of making the booking and this was managed sensitively throughout. The sandwiches and cakes are served first, and soon followed by the scones, cream and jam (there are two scones per person). During the course of the afternoon tea an additional cake is served from a trolley, which comes to the table. The tea is plentiful and the service is excellent. We enjoy the pomp and ceremony of the traditional afternoon tea and delight in the level of service and attention to detail. We would definitely recommend the experience and would visit again in the future. Access is really easy as it is just a short walk from the Green Park underground station. Note that there is a dress code, but this is easy to look up on the website and it is highlighted when booking. Note that there is a service charge applied to the total bill of 12.5%.

We have experienced the afternoon tea and the dinner. The dinner option is far better than afternoon tea. However, for the price, the service was not attentive enough. There was not the coherent togetherness across the serving staff. One lady was the stand out star who gets ritz from 3 to 4 stars. She actually talked with us, learnt about our celebrations and treated us to an additional cake on the house. She smiled, engaged and made us feel welcome. Everyone else made us feel like we were in the way or out of place. Also, be warned that a glass of bubbles is £40 each! These 2 drinks cost nearly the same as the entire 5 course meal for one person! The venue itself is beautiful and highly recommend getting some pics before or after the meal.

I'm writing this review based on a truly disappointing afternoon tea experience at The Ritz. The service was far below the expected standard for a 5-star establishment. The dress code expectations were misleading, with staff enforcing a strict jacket requirement despite assurances of flexibility due to the hot weather. The air conditioning was inadequate, and the staff’s response to customer discomfort was condescending and unhelpful. The overall atmosphere was chaotic, with poor organization at check-in and a rushed feeling throughout the experience. The quality of service was inconsistent, and the staff seemed more interested in efficiency than customer satisfaction. While the food was decent, it couldn't compensate for the terrible service. I strongly advise considering other options for afternoon tea in London. I expect a timely and appropriate response from the management addressing these serious concerns. Edit: Ritz asked for an email. That email was sent and answered by your stuff in the same condescending manner your stuff treated us during the afternoon tea.

We were followed until we entered the lobby and were prevented from sitting and drinking tea without any reason. My husband and I got offered a voucher for Afternoon tea at the Ritz as a wedding pressent. Due to illness, we could not do it for a long time and we realised our voucher had expired when I called The Ritz to register my voucher against our reservation for the next day. I was then told by the (relatively pleasant) reception that they could not do anything for me and that I should call back the next day to talk to a Manager. They would be in a position to potentially extend my voucher's validity. I called the next day, explained my situation to another receptionist. After being put on hold for less than a minute, I was informed that the Manager would not agree to talk to me, nor would they make an exception and extend my voucher. I hung up the phone in tears. My husband then wrote an email to The Ritz to explain (again) our situation, what that Afternoon Tea voucher meant to us, and how upset I was by the way I had been handled. He received the same reply : NO. This is deeply disappointing, and what I consider being very poor customer service from an establishment such as The Ritz. I would have expected much better in the light of our very special circumstances.

A lovely, special place for a high tea. Bottomless sandwiches and cakes best presented with discrete and attentive service. The old fashioned but gorgeous interiors are a treat.

Thank you for your help with afternoon tea. When you enter the hotel, I think the bellhop will check your clothes. People who were wearing sneakers were asked questions. Since you are entering a luxury hotel, it is recommended that you dress up in style and enjoy your stay inside. The hotel was a nice and clean space, right down to the toilets.

We Americans could teach you british folk a thing or to about good bars. You people need to learn how to let loose and good and drunk. Who where's a suit to a bar. Maybe if they tried to make it more like the bars I go to back in Alabama. Country music is the best music to listen to while you drink. I tryd to get them to play some. You would have thought they'd be a little grateful to my asking them to improve the place and do things a little more like this like they do things back in God's greatest country the good old US of A were I'm from.

Private club dedicated mainly to the Armed Forces located in central London. A sophisticated atmosphere, quality, courtesy, elegant furnishings with an antique flavor and friendly staff make this place a precious environment for members and their guests. There is also an internal courtyard where in summer you can stay outdoors eating and drinking with your guests or friends. The Club also has a wonderful library, with many volumes relating to military history. If you have the chance, stop by even just for a drink. Very easy access, as it is right in the center of London.

Took my Mum here for Mother’s Day and it was absolutely fabulous. We were given 15 minutes grace period for our booking which we needed. The decor, the service, the food- everything was immaculate and most importantly my Mum had a great time and was treated like royalty. Particularly enjoyed the pear jam (they give you 4 different ones to choose from).
