On arrival (and departure) the car park had several loads of dog mess in it and when we tried to enter the pub at the front door that was marked 'ENTRANCE' it was shut and locked. This was at 12.07 and the pub was advertised as opening at 12.00 midday. Eventually a woman (the cleaner or a member of the bar staff?) opened the door. The way to the bar was blocked by two large dogs. A second women (the landlady?) then appeared with bare feet but neither attempted to move the dogs to enable us to reach the bar. I informed the landlady that there was a lot of dog mess in the car park and she responded by saying "I haven't been out there this morning." I could only see one draft larger so I asked for a pint accordingly but apparently the pump wasn't working. With that we walked out.

Picked this unknown pub, as another one nearby was fully booked and we were on some family business. The menu was a traditional one. We all thought it was excellent value! We all had the baguettes for lunch, of which there were two each! The chips were just amazing, far too many for us to eat! The garlic mayonnaise was really good. Not just a hint of garlic, but loads of it - just how we all like it at home. Staff member was very polite and altogether a surprisingly excellent experience. Would recommend for excellent value, traditional food.

After having a really bad experience at the long arms we decided to pop in here for a drink before heading home. Such a very friendly and warm traditional pub . Will definitely pop back again.

A lovely visit, we ordered the roast dinner for a family of four. All allergies catered for. So nice to eat a real home cooked Sunday lunch and the roast potatoes are the best and the gravy too. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely recommend.

Cracking little local pub. Friendly welcome, great food, really well kept beer . . What more do you want? Good selection of gin, Guinness is probably some of the best in the area. Really recommend a visit. At the moment, booking is probably worth doing as the CV19 thing is being taken seriously, The newly introduced pizzas are excellent and you can eat in or take away. Gluten free food is available and the Sunday roast is definitely one to write home about. Wish I could give six stars. Lovely family of three generations of golden retrievers are the pub dogs. Friendly and no bother at all.

Been here twice and enjoyed thoroughly! Food is high quality, great portion sizes. Staff have all been friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The wait for food was short, "happy hour" style drink offers on cocktails in the evening. I would definitely recommend the non alcoholic options or lemonades - they are incredible, taste great and really refreshing. There isn't much in the way of places like this in Melksham so I would definitely suggest it to anyone local or further afield because it is a great place for anyone whether for a special occasion, meeting, lunch, anything. Try it if you haven't!
