Delicious Sunday lunch today with my family. And amazing desserts. Fully catered for as a coeliac .Pat is a great host and Claire a wonderful cook. Can thoroughly recommend this lovely pub x

Went out for a family meal to celebrate my dad’s birthday. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was all freshly cooked and delicious the highlight for me was the most delicious desserts. Would highly recommend

We had a lovely stay at the Rising Sun last night. Wonderful welcome from Pat and Claire, nothing was too much trouble. Fabulous hosts. The accommodation is good value, very clean with a modern bathroom and everything we could need for our overnight stay. Traditional English Breakfast in the morning was perfect! Quality bacon and sausage etc. all cooked beautifully and served with a smile. Many thanks for a memorable stay!

Down for a weekend break, landlord was very welcoming, service was brilliant and food amazing, my hubby hadthe pie, the best he said hes ever had. Would certainly return if in Isleham again.

Had an excellent Sunday roast for a family of 6. The lamb was amazing as was the pork. We had some of the most delicious desserts and they catered to a fussy 4 year old. Great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Would 100% recommend a visit

Great Sunday lunch, a lovely full plate of meat, veg, Yorkshire puds and the best bet roast potatoes. Love that we where given condiments to go with out meat without having to ask. Dessert was just a good as the main, the cheesecake was beautiful, creamy and chocolatey, what more could you want. Pat, Clair Penny and their staff are always friendly and happy to help. I can't recommend them enough!

Today we had an epic Sunday Roast with our three daughters! Pat, Clare and the team are always so friendly and great with the children. The roast was amazing and my 6 year old described her homemade chocolate brownie as unreal! We have loved all our visits to the rising sun in the last two years that we have lived in isleham and we are most definitely going to be making the Sunday Roast a monthly treat. I hugely recommend a visit if you haven’t been before .

We had a lovely stay at The Rising Sun in Isleham last weekend. We had booked both rooms which are situated just across from the pub. They accommodation was excellent, clean and modern and the rooms have been beautifully done. We had dinner in the pub both evenings which was really good and breakfast was also excellent with both vegetarians and non vegetarians catered for. We were made to feel extremely welcome and look forward to returning soon.

Patrick, his family and staff are just so friendly and helpful. We stayed as a party of 4 for the weekend and the accommodation was excellent. Clean, modern and convenient it is a remarkably good value bed and breakfast establishment as well as being a warm and friendly local pub. The food was very good too. We ate breakfast and evening meal in the pub and the kitchen caters for vegetarian diets Many thanks for a great weekend we will definitly be back

Had the most delicious Sunday Roast. Excellent value for money and you certainly won’t go home hungry. Deserts are all home made and truly scrumptious. I couldn’t recommend it more.

A wholesome family pub that has a lovely atmosphere. The staff are always so lovely and kind. I have never been so thrilled with a pub in my life.

Stayed here overnight on a weekend. Fantastic room - new and spotlessly clean. Perfect, delicious cooked breakfast. Great hospitality and attention to detail. Have you ever been somewhere where you’re asked what brand of sweeteners you’d like? I rest my case!

We had eaten Sunday lunch with friends on that same day, it was wonderful, amazing selection of perfectly cooked vegetables and gorgeous beef and Yorkshire. 9 of us recently had the pleasure of eating at the Rising Sun, Isleham. We chose from the Christmas Menu and the entire party were totally satisfied with their choices. The star of the show for the majority was the most moist Roast Turkey dish...

Booked both rooms for family, whilst visiting for a family party, was so pleased from the moment we arrived, the owner was so welcolming and friendly. Our accomodation was fantastic and so clean and welcolming. Food was tasty and well made. Cost was really reasonable....

Excellent stay for Daughter’ wedding nearby. Nothing was too much trouble for hosts Pat and Claire. Tasty cooked breakfast and spotlessly clean accommodation. Very highly recommended.

We were greeted by a very friendly landlord just as a hail shower hit us. After managing to stop service for 20 minutes whilst we sheltered under an awning, the food was served to our large, socially distanced party. It was well cooked, delicious, and...

We spent 6nts in Isleham on all of which we visited the Rising Sun! After the 1st night we realised how welcoming the landlord and locals were! We laughed, enjoyed reasonably price drinks and also tried the food menu which offered a good selection at...

Pubs are open again hooray. Much more than a pub when it’s your local in a village, a place for the community to come together. High praise to the landlord, for doing as the landlady says and creating a wonderful safe outdoor area in the car park for all to enjoy. Even better for organising street food trucks for every Wednesday evening. Tonight was the first and didn’t disappoint. Chicken ‘n’ tings was delicious. My two boys 9 & 7 both loved, high praise indeed as many parents will know how fussy kids can be. Highly recommend to all. Wonderful friendly village pub for all to enjoy.

We have had several of these recently and keep going back for more. The food is consistently excellent, the service is very good and the ‘landlady’s homemade deserts are to ‘die for’. The landlord ensures the safest environment under difficult circumstances but with a humerus and comfortable family setting. We highly recommend you, your family or guests try this. You will not be disappointed.

Outstanding, attentive staff. Lovely selection of ale, lager, cider, wine and spirits complimenting delicious weekend menus, hearty traditional Sunday roast and brilliant desserts served to impeccable food hygiene standard. The rooms are finished to a high standard for quality sleep, and relaxing stay at a fair and reasonable rate. Landlords Patrick and Claire Pearce are a National Treasure!

Have visited the rising sun a few times when staying with our friends, it is their local and we are made to feel very welcome. The landlord Pat is friendly as are the bar staff and waitresses. Had some lovely food there (great chips) and when we last went it had just reopened after lockdown, we had a table booked and there was plenty of space to social distance, with a one way system in force which was great. We look forward to our next visit when in Isleham!

Hubby and I turned up early on Friday night. Lovely welcome and very friendly crowd. Log burner always a bonus! We asked about food and were told that there had been a funeral that day and staff weren't back, so it was unlikely the kitchen would be open. We were, given a couple of other options in the village. After a while, the chef appeared and we were asked if we still wanted to eat. The kitchen was duly opened (just for us) and we had the best fish and chips and scampi and chips we've ever eaten. The batter on the fish was superb and everything was hot and delicious. The portions were huge and very reasonably priced. Would not hesitate to recommend a visit and hope to return if we are staying locally again.

Myself, my family & friends have become regular visitors to the Rising Sun in Isleham for one of the best 3 course meals around. Pat, Claire & their team have the highest of standards & the food & drink is full of flavour & the portions are plentiful. Would highly recommend

My wife and I stayed in Isleham for one night, and ventured into the village centre for food. We came across the Rising Sun, and was greeted by a traditional friendly pub atmosphere - just like pubs should be.Decent pub grub and everyone in there so welcoming.Luckily we attended when a charity quiz was on too, which was good fun.Landlord Pat and his staff very accommodatinf, with lots of good recommendations on where/how to spend our remaining time there.

lovely friendly pub in my local village. others in our party were quite envious that we had such a nic pub in our village with well cooked honest food at great prices. Forget the pubs with inflated prices and fancy descriptions. My steak was cooked perfectly as was everyone's food.

We had a one night stay in September 2019.The room was ready for us on our arrival, clean, modern and well appointed with lovely large shower.We ate prawns, deep fried brie, beef madras and chilli in the restaurant, which was well cooked tasty traditional pub food,The staff were courteous and helpful, bringing our drinks to the table and making sure we had everything we needed.We had a good nights sleep and a wonderful full English breakfast in the morning, just what we needed after a drink or two the night before.All in all a very good experience..

It's extremely difficult to express the quality of this wonderful establishment in a short review. It really is outstanding. Yes, it's accommodation in a small village pub, but 'do not' be fooled into thinking it will be average. Cleanliness personified, with style and sophistication, yet homely. The fixtures and fittings are that of a top hotel. Plus a fabulous breakfast served in the centuries-old part of the pub. If you have the fortune to spend some time in the pub you can experience a typical friendly country boozer with a fabulous atmosphere.

Last minute booking in this family run pub. First time and it won't be the last. Limited menu for mains but that meant meal was served up within five minutes of ordering. Food was hot and well cooked and there was plenty of it. Fantastic array of veg. Dessert menu more varied and I was spoilt for choice. No good for weight watchers. Service was excellent with a genial host. Good value for money. Book table in corner by window.

Booked very last minute, which is not to be advised if you want a table for Sunday Lunch in this busy locals Pub. However they managed to squeeze us in, The pub has a superb atmosphere and the staff were most welcoming. Our table was reserved and the food was served quickly and efficiently. A great experience, good food good beer and efficient and friendly staff. Highly recommended for a basic good value Sunday Lunch.

We experienced a very enjoyable Sunday lunch with a group of friends, Patrick & Claire were brilliant hosts, the food was excellent and the drinks offerings likewise. We rounded off a thoroughly enjoyable occasion by staying in the double guest room for the night.

First time we visited this pub and was greeted by a friendly landlord and a beautifully warm log burner. Lovely lunch..my partner really enjoyed the gammon and the lasagne was tasty as you could tell it was homemade (like the chips!). We stayed longer than planned as it was a lovely pub, great drinks and offered value for money. Would definitely recommend.

Love having such a great option close to home for Sunday roast. Food was suoer yummy, prices are awesome and service very friendly!! We even had 10 and they accommodated us very easily!!

Whilst visiting locally for a family party this Pub with accommodation came highly recommended and did not disappoint. We received a warm and friendly welcome for our overnight stay. The newly renovated rooms were spotlessly clean, and afforded us a great nights sleep. The beds were so comfortable, with quality cotton sheets and little extras in rooms meant every need was met. Breakfast cooked to order, was locally sourced, of a high standard and delicious.

We popped in for a quick drink on the way back to our camp, and it's lovely. Proper pub, with a lovely courtyard and a fabulous children's play area. Very friendly landlord. Will definitely go again when we are next in the area.

On Saturday 25th March 2017 we held our 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration at the Rising Sun and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. Patrick and Claire worked so hard to make our evening a huge success. The food was excellent, there was a huge selection of quality ales that were well maintained and the service was attentive and first class all round. The accommodation was of a very high quality and the breakfast unbeatable. We did not want a grand event; we wanted an enjoyable event and we certainly got it! We stayed in the luxury apartments at The Rising Sun in Isleham and the owner (Patrick) was very friendly and hospitable. He made our trip to the town very entertaining.We had a delicious full English breakfast and large portion size dinner the night before. The service, staff and other customers were homely making you feel part of the town culture. It was is everything you could expect out of a true English pub and more. The ol'wife isn't a bad cook after all... ey? All the best from the Aussies.

We had a family dinner here last night and we have a big family! They didn't blink when we asked if they could accommodate dinner for 15 this evening ( about 4 hours notice)! Very brave of them really... Our hosts were very welcoming and their lovely old building was everything you could imagine about an old English 'local' pub. The food was great and everyone enjoyed their meal and the atmosphere of the place. When the menu doesn't have 20 different starters, 20 different mains courses and 20 different deserts you can be assured that what choices you do have will be good. As so it was here. The menu was varied enough for everyones tastes. Well made, well presented and tasted great. Thanks to everyone at the Rising Sun for making us welcome and facilitating a memorable night for us all. Oh and did I mention it was great value for money too!

Friendly atmosphere at the bar. Was passing through so couldn't try the beer. Didn't have any Becks Blue at the moment. Small car park at rear through arch. A few people eating and the food looked good.

Excellent weekend stay at the Rising Sun when visiting family in the area. Patrick and Claire are really good hosts and the food, both the full English Breakfast and the dinners were great. Accommodation was also exceptional and overall would not hesitate to recommend staying here. There was a live band on the Friday night and overall the atmosphere was friendly and we were made to feel very welcome.

Needed a place to stay for the night after attending a wedding anniversary. Found this on line and although only has 2 rooms we found it very clean, comfortable and modern. The pub itself is across the drive and is definitely historic but very thriving. We were warned that the local cricket team had won their eleventh match out of eleven and were celebrating so it might be a bit noisy later. However, we were not disturbed once the pub closed it went completely quiet. The following morning had a very good full English breakfast.

We're just back from a visit to Newmarket for one of the concert nights and feel we should share with you how great The Rising Sun is as a base for anyone looking for the same. Easy to reserve a room; very friendly welcome; sensational room; £20 taxi to/from Newmarket and a tip top breakfast at a time to suit us to round things off.The rooms (1 double and 1 twin)are high spec, newly finished in an annexe across the car park. The pub is clean and family friendly. The village is quiet. We'll certainly be staying at The Rising Sun at Isleham again next time.

Just love this pub. Have been a few times from quiz night to Sunday lunch. Never feel like an outsider even though we don't live in the village. Food was brilliant on Father's Day with all fresh veg cooked perfectly. Staff always very friendly with good conversation. Perfect for friends and alike with small play area and climbing frame in the beer garden!

The rising sun is a family pub with a great atmosphere, friendly staff and owners.The food is gorgeous pub food; inexpensive and fresh. As a coeliac I struggle with many pubs as they don't cater for gluten free but here the service is amazing, there are always plenty of options including bread and sausages...the chips are cooked in a separate fryer (even the yummy sticky toffee pudding is gf!). I think the woman (Julie) who gave 1* because the fish and chips was not nice has got confused because 'fish and chip's isn't even on the menu at the rising sun and the oil is always fresh! The fresh cut chips are amazing! I eat here regularly and have never been disappointed. Love it! 5*

Due to a water leak at home, we were forced to stop local(ish) overnight and The Rising Sun was highly recommended. First off, the greeting from the friendly landlord could not have been better. Superb room, new, clean and modern. The food was plentiful and of extremely high quality. Great pub grub and fantastic breakfast with pretty much a choice of whatever we fancied! Good ales and a nice pub atmosphere. We'll be back! Didn't realise there is such a gem so local to us!

Stayed for one night and received the warmest of welcomes from Pat, Claire and James. Had an excellent Sunday lunch with friends, enjoyed good banter with the locals at the bar during the evening and slept soundly in the well appointed beautifully decorated 'Sunset' room. I cannot praise this establishment and staff enough for their high standards of customer service. I heartily recommend the 'Rising Sun'.

Really looking forward to this afternoon. Lovely nature reserve nearby so stopped in this pub for lunch. Very casual staff, and my fish and chips was awful. Burnt batter, bitter as well from old oil. Informed the barman who said he would tell the chef. Should've made more fuss, my own fault. Expensive too.And why is a young woman sitting at the bar with her slippers on?!!

Pat & Claire run a great village pub serving good food and fair prices. Their offer now includes two fabulous B&B rooms that we have booked for visiting friends and family. They have waxed lyrical about the room quality and the service received. Lucky enough to live in this village The Rising Sun is a great village pub and long may it stay so.

My girlfriend and I visited her mum who lived nearby and so we needed a place to stay. We were recommended the Rising Sun by her mums friends. It was an excellent choice. The room (one of only two, so book early) was extremely well appointed and very clean indeed. We had a great nights sleep followed by a fantastic breakfast in the pub. All the ingredients were locally sourced from the predominantly rural area. I've not had a better full English breakfast for a very long time. The chap running the place was a real gent and made us feel welcome and looked after us very well indeed.

First time eating here and wish we had tried it sooner. The Roast dinner was perfect. Service was great, meat was tender and veggies perfectly cooked. Eating out is never easy with 2 young kids but the rising sun had our high chairs ready, plastic plates (so many places bring kids food out on hot plates) and kids cutlery. Our kids ate everything on their plates which rarely happens. The meat was thinly sliced meaning we didnt have to cut it up into tiny pieces for them. Also the outdoor play area is always clean and has lots of different toys to keep them busy. I am an ale drinker and the guest ales here are always interesting and perfectly kept (unlike some other local pubs which serves too many to keep well and end up serving pints of vinegar). The desert choice was hard as they all sounded good but the banoffee pie and kids ice creams were lovely. Thanks - will be back soon.

Recently went for Sunday lunch and enjoyed everything about it. A genuine village pub atmosphere and a pub that caters for all ages. Pat the landlord is an excellent host and Claire is an excellent cook. With a team like that it's no surprise you get a great Sunday Roast. My wife had chicken I went for lamb both were excellent and came with Yorkshire and eight vegetables. Desserts are home made, the sticky toffee pudding (my wife said it was the best ever !)and apple pie were both memorable. Felt really full and content afterwards. Areas for children and adults, good food - good price and good hosts - visit it !!!

We spent 2 nights in The Rising Sun's newly built accommodation which was superbly fitted out warm and comfortable with a superb ensuite facility. The breakfast was genourous and all you could ask for. The landlord was attentive and welcoming at all times . We will definitely go back to this little gem.

Room was excellent, clean and very comfortable. Greeted by the Landlord who was doing the hoovering but he stopped to make us a coffee and we sat outside to drink it.Found the Landlord and his staff very freindly. Breakfast was served at our chosen time and was excellent and very filling. Spend only one night but very impressed, would stay again if in the area.

My husband and I stayed here over night. The room was spotless and extremely well presented- great shower too :) the staff were extremely friendly, polite and helpful and very welcoming. We drank in the pub in the evening and had a great time. I have coeliacs disease (gluten free) and they were extremely knowledgeable and caterred for this without a problem. There was a good choice of meals and it was delish! Would definately stay again and would recommend to others if they were in the area.

I've just stayed at The Rising Sun in Isleham's newly renovated accommodation - food was fantastic, room was very nice - food is served a lot more often than another review below states (not sure if that's a recent thing?) - The people were friendly, service was great - I'd definitely recommend staying and eating (and drinking for that matter) at The Rising Sun!

Nice little pub & food average BUT well worth a visit to check out Sam the busty barmaid & a bit of flirty flirty.

The landlord, a fellow cyclist, we popped in at lunch time for one and stayed for two, food only Friday to Sunday inc, we popped in on the way back to Karma Farm camp site on our second evening and again the Isleham locals were friendly and welcoming. We shall return to Isleham, Karma Farm (an eco camp site) and Islehams two pubs, the locals must love it, two such places a five minute walk from each other.

We have been here several times and enjoyed tasty homemade food, good service and comfortable surroundings, also plenty of local draught beers and cider, thank you
