🌟 Recommendation 🌟 If anyone is in Iselham Cambridge at any point I thoroughly recommend the rising sun pub for food! Went here on Friday with a friend as she we both have food allergies and was told we could be catered for (my friend is coeliac and I am gluten, oat, onion, garlic and lactose intolerant). They have separate fryers! The staff were so welcoming Pat the barman and Lily our waitress I had a fantastic meal here! Unfortunately I forgot to take photos. Often I get stressed out eating places but Clair the chef was amazing. She made sure I knew everything I could have on the menu beforehand and checked everything was ok with the meal while I was there. I have been told they offer a gluten free roast dinner too so I will be back soon.

Favorite pub in all of England, great atmosphere and food

The Rising Sun has been our go-to pub for a friendly pint for a couple of years now, but we hadn't eaten here, despite hearing plenty about Claire's great cooking. This weekend, we had friends in town and came i for Friday evening dinner-- and as expected, it was great! Fesh, local ingredients like meat from Carter Street butchers combined with the famously welcoming environment of this pub makes for a wonderful evening. Highly recommended!

Went out for a family meal to celebrate my dad’s birthday. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was all freshly cooked and delicious the highlight for me was the most delicious desserts. Would highly recommend

We had a lovely stay at the Rising Sun last night. Wonderful welcome from Pat and Claire, nothing was too much trouble. Fabulous hosts. The accommodation is good value, very clean with a modern bathroom and everything we could need for our overnight stay. Traditional English Breakfast in the morning was perfect! Quality bacon and sausage etc. all cooked beautifully and served with a smile. Many thanks for a memorable stay!

We went today with a group of friends for the Sunday Roast at the Rising Sun. It was incredible, the meat's were delicious, the roast potatoes were cooked perfectly and had great flavour, and a great selection of vegetables. Then followed by a lovely home made desert. Great village pub atmosphere.

Lovely local pub near to where my pals like. Real sense of community, and the Quiz night was a good chuckle with great banter. They also do food catering for veggie/ gluten free. Had bangers & mash with plenty of gravy. Just missed a portion of peas. Please, Patrick the landlord, Give Peas a Chance!

Well worth a visit, food is amazing, especially Clair's epic roast potatoes (best I've ever had), lots of food on your plate that was full of flavour. Lovely friendly and helpful staff, we will definitely be back.

Had an excellent Sunday roast for a family of 6. The lamb was amazing as was the pork. We had some of the most delicious desserts and they catered to a fussy 4 year old. Great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Would 100% recommend a visit

Great Sunday lunch, a lovely full plate of meat, veg, Yorkshire puds and the best bet roast potatoes. Love that we where given condiments to go with out meat without having to ask. Dessert was just a good as the main, the cheesecake was beautiful, creamy and chocolatey, what more could you want. Pat, Clair Penny and their staff are always friendly and happy to help. I can't recommend them enough!

11 of us had a roast dinner here for my Nan's 100th birthday. We were in a side room. They catered admirably for 2 dairy free and one also gluten free. The food was delicious. The service excellent. Would recommend. Would happily eat here again.

Went to the pub quiz night in aid of Mental Health. Pub packed and a really well organised evening. Great fun!

Today we had an epic Sunday Roast with our three daughters! Pat, Clare and the team are always so friendly and great with the children. The roast was amazing and my 6 year old described her homemade chocolate brownie as unreal! We have loved all our visits to the rising sun in the last two years that we have lived in isleham and we are most definitely going to be making the Sunday Roast a monthly treat. I hugely recommend a visit if you haven’t been before .

New years eve was good though felt that music should of been playing from early evening. Karioke was good but again should of had a set time for singing then the rest of the night should of been full on music

We had a lovely stay at The Rising Sun in Isleham last weekend. We had booked both rooms which are situated just across from the pub. They accommodation was excellent, clean and modern and the rooms have been beautifully done. We had dinner in the pub both evenings which was really good and breakfast was also excellent with both vegetarians and non vegetarians catered for. We were made to feel extremely welcome and look forward to returning soon.

Patrick, his family and staff are just so friendly and helpful. We stayed as a party of 4 for the weekend and the accommodation was excellent. Clean, modern and convenient it is a remarkably good value bed and breakfast establishment as well as being a warm and friendly local pub. The food was very good too. We ate breakfast and evening meal in the pub and the kitchen caters for vegetarian diets Many thanks for a great weekend we will definitly be back

What a lovely little country pub! We had a really good night here last week with our 2 little dogs (who were made to feel very welcome!) Had the most delicious Sunday Roast. Excellent value for money and you certainly won’t go home hungry. Deserts are all home made and truly scrumptious. I couldn’t recommend it more.

We stayed here on Sunday night, excellent accommodation, superb bathroom! We had eaten Sunday lunch with friends on that same day, it was wonderful, amazing selection of perfectly cooked vegetables and gorgeous beef and Yorkshire. Booked both rooms for family, whilst visiting for a family party, was so pleased from the moment we arrived, the owner was so welcolming and friendly. Our accomodation was fantastic and so clean and welcolming. Food was tasty and well made. Cost was really reasonable....

Pubs are open again hooray. Much more than a pub when it’s your local in a village, a place for the community to come together. High praise to the landlord, for doing as the landlady says and creating a wonderful safe outdoor area in the car park for all to enjoy. Even better for organising street food trucks for every Wednesday evening. Tonight was the first and didn’t disappoint. Chicken ‘n’ tings was delicious. My two boys 9 & 7 both loved, high praise indeed as many parents will know how fussy kids can be. Highly recommend to all. Wonderful friendly village pub for all to enjoy.

We have had several of these recently and keep going back for more. The food is consistently excellent, the service is very good and the ‘landlady’s homemade deserts are to ‘die for’. The landlord ensures the safest environment under difficult circumstances but with a humerus and comfortable family setting. We highly recommend you, your family or guests try this. You will not be disappointed.

Lovely selection of ale, lager, cider, wine and spirits complimenting delicious weekend menus, hearty traditional Sunday roast and brilliant desserts served to impeccable food hygiene standard. The rooms are finished to a high standard for quality sleep, and relaxing stay at a fair and reasonable rate. Landlords Patrick and Claire Pearce are a National Treasure!

Have visited the rising sun a few times when staying with our friends, it is their local and we are made to feel very welcome. The landlord Pat is friendly as are the bar staff and waitresses. Had some lovely food there (great chips) and when we last went it had just reopened after lockdown, we had a table booked and there was plenty of space to social distance, with a one way system in force which was great. We look forward to our next visit when in Isleham!

Really nice the first time in there will be going again

Hubby and I turned up early on Friday night. Lovely welcome and very friendly crowd. Log burner always a bonus! We asked about food and were told that there had been a funeral that day and staff weren't back, so it was unlikely the kitchen would be open. We were, given a couple of other options in the village. After a while, the chef appeared and we were asked if we still wanted to eat. The kitchen was duly opened (just for us) and we had the best fish and chips and scampi and chips we've ever eaten. The batter on the fish was superb and everything was hot and delicious. The portions were huge and very reasonably priced. Would not hesitate to recommend a visit and hope to return if we are staying locally again.

Myself, my family & friends have become regular visitors to the Rising Sun in Isleham for one of the best 3 course meals around. Pat, Claire & their team have the highest of standards & the food & drink is full of flavour & the portions are plentiful. Would highly recommend

Excellent traditional village pub!

My wife and I stayed in Isleham for one night, and ventured into the village centre for food. We came across the Rising Sun, and was greeted by a traditional friendly pub atmosphere - just like pubs should be.Decent pub grub and everyone in there so welcoming.Luckily we attended when a charity quiz was on too, which was good fun.Landlord Pat and his staff very accommodatinf, with lots of good recommendations on where/how to spend our remaining time there.

lovely friendly pub in my local village. others in our party were quite envious that we had such a nic pub in our village with well cooked honest food at great prices. Forget the pubs with inflated prices and fancy descriptions. My steak was cooked perfectly as was everyone's food.

We had a one night stay in September 2019.The room was ready for us on our arrival, clean, modern and well appointed with lovely large shower.We ate prawns, deep fried brie, beef madras and chilli in the restaurant, which was well cooked tasty traditional pub food,The staff were courteous and helpful, bringing our drinks to the table and making sure we had everything we needed.We had a good nights sleep and a wonderful full English breakfast in the morning, just what we needed after a drink or two the night before.All in all a very good experience..

It's extremely difficult to express the quality of this wonderful establishment in a short review. It really is outstanding. Yes, it's accommodation in a small village pub, but 'do not' be fooled into thinking it will be average. Cleanliness personified, with style and sophistication, yet homely. The fixtures and fittings are that of a top hotel. Plus a fabulous breakfast served in the centuries-old part of the pub. If you have the fortune to spend some time in the pub you can experience a typical friendly country boozer with a fabulous atmosphere.

Great pub, great people, great food

Last minute booking in this family run pub. First time and it won't be the last. Limited menu for mains but that meant meal was served up within five minutes of ordering. Food was hot and well cooked and there was plenty of it. Fantastic array of veg. Dessert menu more varied and I was spoilt for choice. No good for weight watchers. Service was excellent with a genial host. Good value for money. Book table in corner by window.

Booked very last minute, which is not to be advised if you want a table for Sunday Lunch in this busy locals Pub. However they managed to squeeze us in, The pub has a superb atmosphere and the staff were most welcoming. Our table was reserved and the food was served quickly and efficiently. A great experience, good food good beer and efficient and friendly staff. Highly recommended for a basic good value Sunday Lunch.
