Difficult to do a review as the pub was shut !! A shame as we (three of us) were quite famished. No sign that it was closed until we had parked up in the car park.

A really nice village pub in this beautiful village in chippingham, people were really friendly and the bar staff were exceptional. The pub had a nice country feel to it with a nice look, nice pub garden to the back and seating outside front with tables also, doesn't do a lot to eat so just really for drinking with the odd grub, not as a pub to eat in for an evening meal but if you want to chill and have a drink it's perfect. Nice atmosphere A+++

Lovely pub with a lovelt beer garden. Only problem is that we didn't find a baby change facility so had to use a table. Plus not very buggy friendly. But a very nice pub and staff were kind and helpful. There is parking round the back but not much. Not overly wheelchair friendly as there is a step to the toilets and no access for wheelchair at the rear of the pub from what I could see.

Best pub in the world. Run really well with great beer and is the centrepoint of our village. To top it off Bev opened up early on our wedding day in June 2017 and I got to have a beer before the ceremony, something I'll always remember.

No kids, no play areas, no food, no "riff raff," NO hassle! Just GREAT bar service, fantastic landlady and staff. A relaxed, friendly atmosphere with really nice customers. It's a jewel in the Suffolk landscape and the pulsing heart of a beautiful village. Just how real village pubs used to be. I'm so glad I found it. It reminds me of my local, back home in Warwickshire!

We were in the area on holiday & decided to drop in for a drink. They had lovely fires going in both rooms & it was very welcoming. The toilets were beautiful! The pub quiz was hosted by a fantastic man, who easily gets our vote for our favourite pub quiz host! The quiz itself was fantastic also. All the locals were friendly, chatty & welcoming. I would 100% recommended a visit!

I travelled from London for a birthday gathering here. The garden was hired out for a private BBQ and drinks where available to purchase from the bar inside. Being from London I am not used to such little gems. It is only a small pub but very homely and personal. Everyone knew everyone. It was the perfect place to have such a function. The bar appeared to be well stocked, competitive prices for drinks, adequate seating area inside, clean toilets and friendly bar staff. I'm sure I'l visit again one day in the near future

No atmosphere, no food, random service depending on the landladies mood! Was a great pub ( see my previous review) now a Pub that is suffering from a lack of proper management! Such a shame that a small village has to put up with below par service!

We had a family funeral in Chippenham and as the village had much family link we chose the pub as our wake location. The pub is so traditional and warmly. They put together a lovely spread of food and it has sufficient seating inside and seating outside for nice weather.

We visited the Tharp arms on a Sunday afternoon, It wasn't overly busy. There were a few locals up the bar by all accounts, but we didn't struggle to get served. Staff were friendly and accommodating especially with our 2 young children. It is a small pub so we sat in the gardens to the rear of the pub. Definitely worth a visit.

Had a lovely home cooked meal yesterday, beef stew and dumplings after a great day out locally, with a Roaring open fire and wonderful service, I need ask for nothing else. great to see a pub with staff that actually enjoy being there. I believe you can always judge how an establishment is kept by how clean the toilets are and they were absolutely spotless. Keep it up Tharp Arms - I will be back!

Coming from a town and visiting cities which have razzle dazzle pubs with loud music, bouncers and every cocktail known (and unknown) it was great to frequent a pub that retained it's unique 'ye olde' style and village welcoming. We were only in the area a few days & with 3 kids in tow (2 x 13 & a 10 yr old) we couldn't make full use of the drinking, but dropped in, had great pork scratchings, smooth guinness and enjoyed a really good feel to the premises. Wish we lived local to this. - We were recommended this as a great place to visit for food but the night we needed the food (Monday) we were advised food wasn't served that night. We were a bit gutted but when I saw (and smelt) the garlic bread that came out for someone the evening after I think it is fair to say that we missed out on some great food....

there were 3 vegetarians in our party of 4 when we lunched at this pub on 27th February. Although we were late in arriving, we were warmly welcomed by our charming hosts and told that our meal would be freshly cooked. There was a log fire burning and we were made to feel at home. There was a good choice of menu options mainly standard pub food. The vegetarian meals were excellent and my lunch came with a range of freshly prepared vegetables and hot gravy. Mustard came in a small pot and not the ghastly satchels that are all too common these days. I would thoroughly recommend this pub for lunch particularly for vegetarians.

Found the pub by chance whilst passing through Chippenham and enjoyed it so much on the Saturday that we went back on the Sunday. We were given a very warm welcome by the Landlord Jerry (I think it was Jerry anyway) who told us he had only been at the pub for a week. He obviously knows his stuff as the Abbot, IPA and Hardy and Hansen were magnificent with the H&H narrowly coming out on top. There is no food at the pub but Jerry was happy for used to order a takeaway and kindly provided us with plates and cutlery. The only proviso when ordering the takeaway from the next village was that we had a drink from the bar which we were more than happy to do. The pub was busy on the Saturday and Sunday and bearing in mind that there was only one member of staff on duty, Jerry coped admirably. When we called back on the Sunday, Jerry remembered all our names which was impressive and he was a great host throughout the weekend. Unfortunately, traditional pubs like The Tharp Arms are dying out but hopefully this fine establishment will continue to buck the trend.
