Been today for Sunday lunch food was tasty and hot what we don't like is frozen roast potatoes and veg the potatoes were the worst we have had pub was very cold we heard someone else say how cold it was so had dinner and left quickly

A lovely Charity event held during the day.. the weather was dry, lovely atmosphere 👌 friendly staff..

on visiting the rising sun for the infamous chippy tea i was noy disapointed the service fron the landlady was superb nothing was to much trouble as my handycapped son was been difficult she took her time and patients dealing and i was so relaxed in this lovely enviroment will defently be returning thank you and the food was amazing

Vile, vulgar landlady! Witnessed her shouting at a pensioner . Talks to her partner like dirt in front of customers . Not welcoming ! Would never dream of bringing my children here. Unprofessional , unwelcoming and rude!! Never again .

I was face painting at a kiddie's party last week, I didn't even know they had a function room to hire for parties. Fab! Venue.

Hubby and I visited our local pub tonight for our evening meal. We were there just after five, and the place was filling up quickly. We took our seats and had a pint whilst waiting for our food. Rob, the landlord, and friend, had told me about the new additions to his usual delicious menu earlier in the week when I bumped into him in our local supermarket. So we decided to pay a visit. Fishy Friday. Husband chose the Haddock chips with mushy peas, bread and butter. I had a fish platter for 1. It was amazing. Fish goujons, hand made pattie balls, a battered sausage and a portion of chips. I chose curry sauce as my accompaniment, but I could have had mushy peas or gravy. Absolutely delicious. You couldn't get better, anywhere.

Me and my husband went on Friday 8th march and had fish and chips it was the best fish we had ever had great value for money my compliments to the cook, And compliments to the landlord he keeps a good beer .

Second time of visiting for Sunday lunch and it was as good as it was the first time. Lots of veg and beef that melted as you ate it 😋. Love the fact that they do smaller plates for the older folk. Would certainly recommend a visit 👍.

Came for the new fishy Friday and it did not disappoint! We had the sharing platter. Light crispy batter and not a bit of grease in sight. Better than a chip shop! Patty bites were absolutely amazing. The fish was white and chunky. Highly recommended and we will be back again. Great service to. Excellent friendly pub. Thank you.

Came here about a week ago the food was amazing me and the other half through while the kids was at school why not so we took my parents was not disappointed

1st time back in this pub in over 40 years. Some internal changes, 3 bars made into two. Took my wife and folks for something to eat. All enjoyed the food. Will be back soon 👍

Just had an an amazing Sunday roast here, couldn't ask for better, so tasty and plenty of it. and to top it all ,staff were friendly, polite, and efficient. We shall definitely return.

Unfortunately we did not do any meals we stayed for a few beers the staff were perfect the service was perfect the atmosphere was also perfect we did leave my wife’s mobile phone there and when I rung up they had found it and put it behind the bar,we collected it the next day thanks to all at this homely pub it was a fantastic experience and will be back in soon for a Sunday lunch once again thank you all.

Me and my wife went today for Sunday lunch . We was greeted with a warm welcome and staff was at our service straight away . The dinner came out in a short time with all meats that was the most tender meat Iv ever had and the portion size was huge . Iv had carvery’s at other pubs in the past and you can tell straight away the difference between home cooked and not . This was by far the best Sunday dinner Iv ever had !! If they was an option for 10 stars this would be given and great to support the local pubs . Definitely be going back soon . Thank you Rising sun for your great service and food 👌👌👌(Dave and jenny )

Lovely home-cooked Sunday lunch. The meat was tender and juicy, you could tell everything was freshly made and not from a packet. Best yorkshire puds that beat any other carvery we've been to. Owners both welcoming and made sure everyone was happy with the food. Highly recommend!

Great pub for supporting live music

Our ladies group met at the Rising Sun last night for one of our regular meals out. I think we all enjoyed what we had. We will definitely go again for a meal

Never been before Bar staff very helpful Very clean Ordered three standard Sunday lunches Had a choice of beef gammon or turkey We all chose beef it was delicious melted in your mouth the rest of the dinner was also cooked to perfection lovely and hot staff also asked if we wanted any sauces a big shout out to the staff very friendly will be returning

The Rising Sun Beverly Road on the edge of the ghost Estate is a very attractive community pub. There is good selection of lagers and beer including cask conditioned real ale. There is live music on a Saturday and I've seen a couple of really good bands and singers here. The staff are very friendly, it's a nice pub, with outside seating and a car park.

Decent Sunday dinner take out, just make sure you order in plenty of time! I was made to feel guilty about spending over £48 on dinner, like I was taking food out of the local customers' mouths! Not the kind of lecture you want when you've spent decent money on 2 consecutive weekends! His attitude baffled me! Like I said though, the food is very reasonable, with nice size portions. Update: Not wanting to take anything away from the pub, as it's an extremely well run, local pub, something of a dying breed these days, and it hasn't put me off returning in the future. To be fair to owners they have explained the reasons behind the rant and it's perfectly understandable. Keep up the good work 👏.

Sadly no pictures for this one! However it’s a very nice local pub. Staff was nice and I was served fast even tho it was rather busy. For those looking to do a pub crawl this is a good start as the price is very fair! Do suggest.

As we recently moved and are renovating we fancied a break so popped in (Easter Sunday) ordered a drink and was told probably no food another drink and asked again and the chef said she could do us some Sunday lunch what a star great pub great staff great beer cant wait to go back to this very friendly pub with a great atmosphere! What a find…. In Hull for our sons cricket session at the nearby school. Popped in for something to eat to be told they only serve Sunday lunch with a choice of gammon, beef and turkey. We had all 3 meats between us. The meals arrived promptly and pipping hot with a good mix of vegetables. This was a high quality meal at excellent value. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Love the pub and the staff . But really not impressed with the food. Tried the Sunday lunch and the normal size meal came squashed onto a really small plate. Yorkshire puddings were home made and nice. The following week we had a mixed grill and it wasn't worth the money we paid. I can't understand how a kitchen runs out of tomatoes ( grilled to accompany the meal) when Tesco superstore is a few steps across the road! The pub is a good size and is really clean, and has a great range of drinks. The young guy on the bar takes pride in making the bar look good and is eager to please. REVIEW EDIT Tried the Sunday lunch again last weekend and ordered the large . It came on a much better plate and was absolutely delicious. To be fair, the barmaid did offer to put a regular Sunday lunch on a bigger plate if that's what we wanted. We went home absolutely stuffed. Going again this Sunday . Hoping the new menu is as nice as it looks on the pictures outside the pub. 😊

Love this pub!!! It's a great local friendly pub. We've been coming in here for years and we are always made to feel welcome. Vickie is a credit to rising sun and her Sunday lunches are amazing, so if you haven't tried them you should as you certainly won't be disappointed. Highly recommended.

Kids Halloween party was great!

We looked online for dog friendly pubs near where we were and the Rising Sun came up as one which we thought was great as it was opposite where we were charging our car up, so very convenient. We had our two Chihuahuas with us so we crossed the road and went into the pub for something to eat and drink, prior to entering I noted a notice saying all dogs must be kept on a lead which was fine by us. We no sooner sat down when a bar person came over and said “Dogs are not allowed in the Pub”. I said I’ve just read the sign next to the door saying keep dogs on a lead plus I searched dog friendly pubs and this one came up. The bar person said “ well that’s outside” firstly why put a sign next to the entrance to the pub if it’s meant for outside and secondly, why class themselves as dog friendly when they’re obviously not! We were hardly going to sit outside in the cold and dark to eat a meal! Needless to say we left and went elsewhere for food. So people - this is NOT a dog friendly pub more a dog outside friendly pub! Which majority of pubs are!

We have frequented this pub on many occasions for the Sunday roast and tea on a Friday evening. Oh my, the beef dinners are out of this world. Also the steaks are amazing…..the staff are really friendly and attentive. The Artists on a Saturday evening are truly amazing. Highly recommend.

As the family gatherd to celebrate our grandaughter christerning little to my knowledge till after the day the landlord was a bit of bully to our daughter most of the day my son in law whitness this too why on earth let a paying guess book certain area/room then complain they are using them is beyond me and been accused of having confettiie all over then also telling my daughter to clean up which had nothing to do with us due to a few children under 5 getting over excited and perhaps dropped a wrapper to think this place came recommend on the ground we could have a bouncy castle on cite we paid for everything on the understanding so long as we leave the place how we find it great we can do that the only recommendation is dont do it dont book it unless you have a thing for intimidating men /bullies

Great pub friendly atmosphere does a great Guinness, does food as well but I'll admit iv not tried it yet but is on my list as iv seen it coming out to other customers and does look and smell good

To much of an effort from who i believe was the manager to make my 80 year old nan a cup of tea he said it was not really worth it as he can pull 6 pints in the time he makes a cupper tea . 1st time and last time visiting the place

Friendly staff and decent food. I went in for an evening with a couple of family members. We all had steak cooked to our individual tastes. The steak was servered with chips, peas and tomato. Excellent chips

Not an establishment that I would visit often as it's too far away and the occasion for this visit was too celebrate the life of my relative recently deceased. Other than our funeral party not many patrons were in the establishment but the glorious weather meant that many people could be outside. The bar staff, maybe the proprietor, were pleasant and efficient, helpful when they could be. Tables were provided for the food and overall for a sombre occasion it was an enjoyable time to catch up with the remaining relations. The place was clean and tidy throughout, and overall, despite the occasion the afternoon went well. Yes on this visit we enjoyed the place.

We often visit The Rising Sun on a Sunday for Sunday lunch with the family the food is excellent and plentiful, we stay a few hours for karaoke with the resident DJ Dave for a good old sing song and soak up the fantastic atmosphere....
