The Ring Feeder cafe in South Hams

Its a nice little place , the service was good. We had two breakfast dishes and two coffees this was over £35 not including the optional tip , which is alot of money for breakfast. My bacon was strangely hard and far too salty . I didnt enjoy my coffee either ,nothing like a flat white

We thought we would try the Ring Feeder for a family lunch whilst on holiday. I am afraid to say it was nothing special. The venue was nice enough with lovely views. We waited an hour for our food. Burgers and soups really shouldn’t take an hour to be served. The food was ok nothing special. It was clear to see that they were short staffed and struggling with orders and service. The shop was nice we bought some ready meals which were actually delicious. It all felt a little amateurish

Came here on holiday and the food was 10/10 one of the best breakfasts we as a family have ever had. We cannot stress enough how amazing and welcoming the staff are also. Made my one year old son feel so welcome. One of us lost something there and despite us informing them that we weren’t local once they had contacted us they insisted on posting it free of charge to my home address hundreds of miles away. Went miles over what is required from a customer service point of view and really went the extra mile. The owner should be proud of their staff and the quality of service and food they provide. Will be returning should we visit the area again.

Just brilliant. We'd stopped here a year ago and couldn't recall the name or where it was, and came across it again by pure luck! Stopped for lunch, and wow, just wow. Forgotten how good it was. Firstly, the view over the green valleys - stunning. The food - well, they do it all so perfectly. All local produce, or their own; fantastically and creatively prepared; portions to feed an army! Milkshakes that are a meal on their own; the roast I had was probably the best I've ever had anywhere - tons of veg etc. The kids had a stack of pancakes, and the wife a monster of a sarnie. Definitely a must-go-to place!

WOW,been here several times since being recommended few weeks back and evey meal has been a real treat,today we had the roast and tbh never had better delicious. Staff are great,good value and very accomadating.

Absolutely beautiful place and wonderful products. Went as a large group and most had roast dinners and all thought the food looked great and the vegetables was the meat let it down with several being return to exchange beef for lamb. A real huge price for what it was and as a high class offering this wasn’t it. Couldn’t fault the cakes and the staff attitude when making a complaint as it was handled very well. High price for food of lesser quality

Very nice full English breakfast and a pot of tea. This converted farm building gives a nice farm atmosphere with some funny play on words. Staff are excellent good value well worth stopping in.

We visited today (Father’s Day) and although it was full inside, we are able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and the views! The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was lush, very filling and very good size portions. We love coming here and are so glad to see it busy after the recent road closures which no doubt affected their business. Great visit for brunch on bank holiday Monday, nice warm friendly welcome, plenty to choose from in the menu, staff were great, we had two small children with us, and a puppy nothing was a problem- a great time had by all and a great breakfast

I always stop here for breakfast on my way to Salcombe from Cheltenham. The setting is perfect, with fabulous views across a working farm. The breakfast is glorious, with very fresh, organic ingredients from the farm, plus the very welcome addition of black pudding. I had a good run across the M5 and the Plymouth Expressway, arriving at 8.45am, before they'd opened. A welcoming smile, a pot of tea and orange juice, until the chef was ready to start at 9.00. No problem! The cafe also has an extensive delicatessen with meats and cheeses; I've never tried this, but it looks very tempting. A lovely rustic feel.

Me and my wife have been camping on Dartmoor for a couple of days and decided to pop in for a hot breakfast, rather than making something by camping stove on our way home to Wolverhampton. The breakfast and hot drinks were delicious and the team were very friendly. The cafe itself is very beautiful, my wife bought a candle and two little dresses for our little girls at the farm shop. The young lady with the long blonde hair that served us and sat us was very friendly and though I didn’t get her name I must say she has got to be one of the best team members I’ve seen anywhere within the industry.

Been coming here alittle while now. The breakfast is big, tasty and well presented. The staff are very polite and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. Definitely will be come back when I'm down this way. Asbo the little dog loves his sausage. Lee & Asbo

Been many times for Sunday lunch and always excellent but today meals were not hot I piece of meat instead of two also very fatty on all meat. Also prices are creeping up. I do hope this is not a sign of things to come as this is one of our favourite Sunday lunch venues after trying many other local places.

A great local café in perfect rural setting overlooking farmland. Food was excellent with wide range of breakfast options and good portion sizes. Our first, but not our last, visit. Thanks to all the team!

A lovely little cafe/ restaurant out in the beautiful Devon countryside with a small (but fab) farm shop- easy to find using Google maps I had the loaded chicken sandwich which came with a side salad and chips - the sandwich was HUGH! and delicious, the salad was really good with a lovely light dressing and the chips were some of the best I’d ever had- soft and fluffy inside and crunchy on the outside…perfect! My husband ordered the Bullock Burger which again was huge! The burger itself tasted amazing and again came with side salad and those fab chips! The decor in the cafe is very rustic and attractive, lots of wood and tin and the views out of the huge windows across the countryside were spectacular although it was a bit overcast when we were there . They have a small box of toys for children and highchairs for babies Also dog friendly as we took our Golden Retriever with us…. The only downside we experienced was the 45 minute wait for our food after ordering

Had this on my want to go list for a while (can’t remember when & where I found out about it; Rick Stein? Susan Calman?) Anyway I t did not disappoint. From the warm welcome to the food to the service, all were excellent. Plus the location is amazing, with widespread views of Dartmoor and surrounding area Looking forward to return visits, and taking visitors with us Well done team!

Lovely food, did think was alittle on the expensive side for what we actually got and that’s disappointing. I would return with friends rather than family as a lovely place and would be a nice place for lunch.

As always, brilliant time. Ordered the Buttermilk Chicken with Waffles and wasn’t disappointed at all (not that I expected to be) great staff, amazing locale and luckily my mother lives local so will be back again and again.

Really good food, all locally produced! Had to go when we saw the special sharing platter they were putting on for Christmas and was not disappointed. Beef, pork and turkey were all delicious, probably the best roast potatoes I’ve had out and loads of them. Yorkshires were proper, veggies were great. Would happily recommend to anyone for a Sunday roast. Only feedback I’d give, could do with some more green veg if possible. Everything on the plate was rich and delicious, the red cabbage was the main ingredient that added some freshness and there wasn’t a lot of it compared to the rest of the food. But that’s me being picky. I’d still say it was the best roast I’ve had out and I have high standards!

I previously visited the ring feeder a week ago on Saturday for a Breakfast, I had to leave the bacon because I found it very salty. I did mention this to a member of staff who in turn mentioned it to the owner/ manager who agreed that she to found it salty and was going to have a word with thier supplier. Forward to Today Sunday 26 November 2023 I ordered the same breakfast with 2 extra sausages and Toast with two cups of coffee. The whole breakfast portion is great and the staff are very helpful………but this time everything on the plate apart from the pot of baked beans in my opinion very very salty, scrambled egg, sausages, bacon and even the mushrooms were over seasoned with salt. All in all the ring feeder is a great place to eat but I would prefer to season my breakfast with salt myself !!!

Their signage says "Dogs welcome in the cafe" but we were welcomed as we walked towards the cafe by a very snarly and appearing to be agressive collie type dog running around off lead. It was quite scarey to walk past with our dogs who didn't react to it. We sat down inside, were warned that the kitchen was backlogged but we mentioned the loose and offputting dog outside, were told it belonged to the farm owner, had a nice meal and went to leave. Well the agressive dog is now inside by the entrance and still having a go at ours. Great food but the whole visit ruined by the owners not controlling their dog. We didn't go back and probably won't next time we are there.

Went here a couple of years ago and it was really good so decided to pay a return visit - we had some sort of fish in a large sandwich type arrangement with son McDonald type chips - The fish was bland and the bread on the dry side and at £15.50 each I can't see us going back there

This is set in a great location, the food is amazing and the service is always fantastic. Dogs are welcome. We've been here a few times and have always been really happy with the food and the service. They also do the most terrifying looking milkshakes - they are so huge with so many toppings that we're too scared to try them but we've seen several people do so and enjoy them massively. I would really recommend The Ring Feeder Cafe.

Wow this was a lucky find once I had pulled into the car park . I walked to the Cafe and opened the door to be met by an delicatessen a member of staff then met me and showed me to my table , the place was half full and the food on the tables was looking great. I went for the poached eggs on sourdough bread with streaky bacon sandwiched between the bread & eggs . The food was amazing definitely a place to come back to & give the lunches a go. The staff were attentive & couldn’t do enough for me. Thank you for the dining experience I will be back 👍

Just happened to be driving past after a disappointing visit to South Devon Chile farm as they no longer serve food, our disappointment turned into delight as we entered the shop and cafe, we were quickly shown to a table. We ordered two main courses a chicken ramen and a steak roll which is served with salad, fry’s and a delicious cheese dipping sauce. My wife really enjoyed her ramen it was a hearty portion. My steak sandwich was delicious, it had a good portion of perfectly cooked steak in a lovely fresh roll with cheese and onions, the highlight for me was the beer and cheddar dipping sauce which certainly made the meal exceptional. The other bonus is the lovely staff and great atmosphere. The farm shop sells a lovely range of fresh produce and deli items. We are so pleased to have stumbled across this wonderful venue. If you are in the area make sure to visit I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Someone recommended this place and I wasn’t let down . The most delicious roast beef , and ALL the trimmings. I felt like a friend had cooked it with love . First visit to this cafe, totally impressed! Absolutely lovely farm/craft shop then a cute rustic cafe at the back with great countryside views! Staff were brilliant, helpful & friendly. Stopped in again for a bite to eat friendly and reliable as alway. Spacious with indoor and outdoor seating, dog friendly. Food is very good and you can get a decent size cup of Coffee. A farm theme and a nice farm shop.
