The Riding House Cafe in City of London, Westminster

Came in for a drink one evening and had a wonderful time. Great vibe, lovely staff (we were served by Benjamin). We’ll be back soon!

Booked the private dining room for a Friday night and everything was excellent. Particularly the food and service. 10/10

Made to feel welcome by Nana, despite the waiting staff being very busy. Good option of 500 ml wine carafes. Will come again.

Average experience - reasonably ok food let down by poor service. More than half the food we ordered to the table was incorrect and we ended up in that slightly awkward ‘no do start’ conversation for those who did have the right dishes. Still, better than the table next to where main courses turned up whilst they were still eating their starters. Tip for restaurant - if you know the service has been rubbish, don’t put the 13.5% tip on the bill - I had to ask for it to be removed.

Good location for a Sunday brunch with friends. We were sat in the booths on the left rather than the tables as you walk in on the right. It was surprisingly busy and noisy in the booth area but then only one or two inside on the right, not sure why they seated everyone so close together? Apart from that food and service was good. Weeks recommend as a central spot for everyone to meet.

Food pleasant enough but not to the standard of our last visit a year ago. Few staff on duty but worked hard to serve all and to engage with customers especially lady who appeared to be managing. With such a choice of eateries in London I doubt I would be in a hurry to return with so many places to chose a restaurant has to work hard to stay on front of mind.

Had a lovely breakfast here. Great food, lovely staff and beautiful decor. Will definitely return. The cajun pepper stew was delicious!

The service, food quality and environment at The Riding House were excellent. There was an elevated noise level during our time there, but that was down to a bustling, busy environment that was testament to this venue's popularity.

We booked this restaurant, as we were staying close by and wanted to eat somewhere different than a hotel. It was a beautiful day and we chose to sit outside. The service was swift and friendly, but we didn't feel rushed. The food was lovely and we all enjoyed our meals. I choose the Chicken Schnitzel bone on and the Pavlova and the others had the Burger and the Cheesecake. We had a lovely lunch and we will return here, as we often stay in the area.

Starters were cold, main course was very average . No break between starter and mains. Overall understandable why the restaurant was empty - I doubt it will still be there in 6 months

Service was attentive and food was generally good but portions a little small.

This is a big YES from me! Met a friend for lunch…first time at this cafe. Wild rice & quinoa bowl and grilled sweet potato = perfect lunch.

Very good place and lovely food

Definitely has lost the quality in the service since last visit. Waiting team are poorly trained and managed, with repeated issues with orders and not the level you would expect for the Roding House.

We were attracted by the diverse menu and previous experiences and we were delighted. The ambience is warm and friendly. The menu had something for all of us. The attentiveness and enthusiasm of our waiter and colleagues out played that of more exclusive (or should I say expensive) competitors. With excellent explanation of the menu, a positive banter and flexibility with our orders we couldn’t ask for more. The food was delicious and served as we requested. Give Riding House a try, you won’t be disappointed.

We arrived at 10:10 am for a 10:15 reservation. The hostess seated us and immediately admonished us that we ‘needed to be out by 11:30, there is another reservation for the table’. Very unfriendly.

Gorgeous time had with a dear friend for late lunch on Sunday. Super team of staff. Wonderful interior. Fabulous environment You just cannot go wrong. Love it. Eve

Expensive green salad with hardly any vinaigrette… poor quality food and average service

Always a reliable brunch option. Took my niece and nephew there (they’re visiting London from abroad) and they loved the eggs options and the pancakes.

Came for lunch on a Saturday, warm welcome, pleasant interior, fab food and drinks.

Breakfast was excellent, generous portions, value for money and great service too.

The meat was horrible. And also we wait very long for dishes, and after so long to get bill

2nd visit and didn’t live up to the previous experience. No flexibility when requesting to swap an item in a breakfast. Server seemed on edge. The person started clearing our plates whilst one member was still eating and reached across that person twice whilst they were using their cutlery. It’s the small things that stay with you.

Fantastic food, atmosphere and value. Service a little slow to take our order and give us our bill, but the food and drinks came very quickly when ordered.

Haven’t been to this Riding House for ages. It was a great location to meet friends coming via Euston station for a catch up evening. Service was good, friendly staff. Great choices on the menu and lots of healthy dishes. We liked the skewer/bowl combos in particular. Tasty food and well prepared. It was a little quiet for a Friday evening but that was fine for us as we could actually talk without having to shout! 😊 Will be back.

The Riding House is a favourite for brunch and lunch. A great range of tasty food in a comfortable setting with friendly staff. Definitely recommend.

Sadly the food was very disappointing Service was non existent Crammed together For a restaurant I was surprised that my elderflower drink meant I was given cordial and a bottle of water to make myself…

Music was a bit loud but overall love this spot. Service was very good and the food was as expected.

The woman that waited on us was delightful and saw a good team approach. Loved the sea bass.

Met a friend for a weekday lunch at 12. Table was fine, next to the till. I had one of their large salad bowls with halloumi skewers which was delicious, whilst my friend opted for a burger. Everything was great apart from our surly waiter who when it came to paying bill was bordering rude with his lack of service skills. He didn't smile and generally looked f**** off and moody. We were unfailingly polite and it is a shame such a nice meal was ruined by his poor manner.

A good place to catch up for a business breakfast, but the service should have been far more attentive.

The food quality is fine but by no means great. With so many excellent eating options around you don’t go here for high quality food. The orange cake for pudding was completely dry, flavourless and we didn’t eat it. Service was also ok but we had to keep getting the waiter ourselves. And when we wanted to leave no one was anywhere - we had to search someone out, whilst with coats on and ready to leave! The ambience and overall design is what makes this place - and a great, central location.

Had a good breakfast at Riding House. Some issue with soya milk curdling in my coffee which was sorted quite quickly but then we needed to ask for a new cup. All in all it was okay

Had a wonderful birthday brunch for my mum at Riding House Fitzrovia; food was delicious, service fast and friendly and they gave us a lovely table and even a cake & candle to finish the experience! My mum was delighted.

We always recommend the “Benedict” portion of the menu. Everything we’ve ordered is great, outstanding for breakfast lunch or dinner!

Great food, not as much ambiance in the back part of the restaurant so would prefer to sit at the front. Lady & gentleman at arrival desk were great. Our waiter seems a little confused and unsure but food was good and good value too. Would for sure recommend and return.

The food was really nice and drinks, we ordered sea bass with prawns it was £6 for three small king prawns. At 10.15pm they told us last orders had already been called and we couldn’t get any more drinks. We explained they hadn’t actually told us that and it’s advertised to be open much later. The guy said everything had been out away and they could only do beer. Not ideal service for a Saturday night. Get it if it’s in the week Mon to Thursday. But 10.15pm on a Saturday is a bit early.

Not so sure about the beans on offer with the proper and vegetarian breakfasts are the right choice. Too spicy for a breakfast offering. Everything else spot on. We’ll be back

Ordered late which was barely warm. Asked the barista if he could change it which he kindly did & brought it over himself. Had breakfast, great food as always, then ordered 2 more coffee. After 15 mins asked the waiter where it is & he said there was a back log. The place was not even busy I have seen it packed & queues outside & still had great service. 5 mins later our coffees arrived, both just warm and again asked for replacement hot coffees. Complained to waiter & spoke to manager who kindly took the price of the coffees off our bill. What a shame the waiters were not doing there job properly & also would not even look at us when we paid or say thank you or goodbye.

Not much food for what you pay for, otherwise great

Have been recently for breakfast in private dining room & was great. Unfortunately they had a private dining room booking when we dined yesterday which meant that our food was rushed out, the eggs were all overcooked so we had to send them back and food wasn’t very hot. We then had a disjointed brunch where we were eating at different times.

Accepted table for 3:30 despite closing at 5 so was rushed from the get-go and throughout. If tables are normally held for 2hrs have the last booking at 3:00 pm in future.

Love this place and have been many times, usually for brunch, the only slight disappointment this time was the coffee. Decaf should be just as strong as ordinary coffee and unfortunately it was weak and not nice, sorry! Everything else was great thank you.

Great place for breakfast mid-week or brunch at weekends. Good menu with healthy, tasty options. Staff very stretched and sometimes difficult to get attention. They are very good though!

I dined here with a friend for lunch. I found the waiter dismissive. For the money spent on food you would expect better service. It was overpriced for what it is.

Loved the vibe & decor! Had a great atmosphere, really buzzy & modern. Had a lovely yummy brunch, would go again when next visiting London!

Eggs royale were overcooked, my avocado side was literally just a half of an avocado cut up on a plate. Given they arrived around 3 min after ordering them, I’m pretty sure they were warmed up in the microwave than cooked fresh. Venue has good ambience and staff is nice but the food is sadly nothing to rave about

Fantastic buzzy atmosphere and very welcoming and friendly staff throughout our brunch. We all had different dishes (4 of us) and they were delicious. Has the Bloody Great Mary and would definitely recommend. Lovely touch at the end when they brought out a slice of cake and birthday message for our special guest!

Everything about this spot is lovely and comfortable. Food and drink are excellent, ambiance is comfortable and chic, and the service is outstanding.

We had a team event here a month ago and it was fabulous so came back with my oldest friend - service was spot on and the artichoke dip was amazing . Only slight niggle was that the minute steak I had with the set menu was very fatty .. but food was great

Lunch with an old friend - service as ever great and food was lovely.

Really great lunch today. The service was really good and so much better than on other trips I have had over the last year when they have been short staffed.

What has happened to the food at the RHC? All fried even the chicken sticks for the salad bowl. Fritters inedible. I was embarrassed as I had taken friends and they left their meals mostly I eaten. We smelt like we had been in a chip shop post meal....what a shame

This was the first place we went after traveling all night from the States. It was absolutely heavenly and completely distracted us from our jet lag. What a wonderful spot!

I am a regular and enjoy coming here. it would be good not to be rushed at lunchtime to leave tables. Good wine and food choices and good service.

Service was poor. Hot drinks took 20 minutes and arrived at the same time as food. Nobody asked if we wanted sauce, checked back or asked how meal was. Empty plates left on the table a long time and we weren't offered more drinks. 13.5% service charge added to a small table is ridiculous given poor service

Lovely welcome, great food and warm service. Always great for a quick lunch. The dining room is lovely and the team is always friendly and welcoming.

The food was average but overpriced. I had the veggie breakfast and it was fine, nothing special. My friend had the full English and despite being the most expensive thing on the menu, it was pretty small and lacking. The veggie breakfast was much bigger actually! The staff were polite but we were reminded on 3 separate occasions a (at the beginning of our booking) that we needed to give the table back at a certain time. We felt rushed before we’d even ordered a drink and it felt quite pushy, and made us feel unwelcome.

The restaurant’s decor, food, drinks and waitstaff were all superb. I highly recommend!

Luke warm at best. Came out within a minute of ordering. My server stated ‘that was soo quick! I only just put it through…kitchens not busy’ Then wanted some pancakes.. warm again and advised not fresh. Reheated. Surprised.

We sent my parents for their 50th Wedding Anniversary while they were celebrating in London for the weekend. They said the food was delicious, the staff were wonderfully friendly and the service was excellent. It was perfect for a casual and fun celebration and everyone went out their way to make my Mum and Dad feel special on their golden anniversary.

Exceptional food and service. Loved it! Fifth time I’ve been and it’s always as good. Lovely atmosphere and food is sublime. It’s a very relaxed place great lighting and background music. If I have one criticism - would be nice to have a bottle of wine on the menu slightly cheaper. I’d visit more often if that were the case.

The food didn’t meet the standards. I’d like to highlight the management isn’t very warm or welcoming. She was absolutely rude when we tried to share our review of being served a burnt toast. Regardless, pancakes were decent. But thanks to the service by the manager, wouldn’t like to go again.

The food is fantastic!!! Mariusz is the best waiter in the restaurant. His attention to detail is spot on! My friends and I felt very welcomed.

The food was very good. Although not sure why they had week day service on a bank holiday. They were turning people away Also, service was very poor from start to finish. Disinterested. Felt hassled to order. Didn't ask if we wanted to taste the wine before serving. Just not very good all round.

OK but nothing special. Pancakes disappointing- too rock a a bit dry, more like cakes than pancakes. My friend’s dishes likewise didn’t set world on fire. It is a nice environment with friendly staff but maybe a little complacent.

I have been going to Riding House for few years now and it never disappoints. The brunch options are delicious and we were promptly served with a smiling staff.

Smart but easy going spot in Fitzrovia. Service is exfellent, great to see Ben, more like an old friend than staff
