Travelled from Taunton after seeing the Instagram page with all that this place had to offer. The cakes looked INSANE. Whilst we felt it was lovely that everything is made fresh on the day, we felt the cakes/buns lacked filling or topping. We were expecting to indulge as the pictures do make everything look delicious. We also tried x2 sour dough toasties, different flavours. The Toastie variety is brilliant, amazing combos/flavours. So it was hard to choose. Both toasties purchased were nice, although my husband said his was toasted too much (almost burnt underneath). Which for the cost £7.50 a little disappointing. Then we purchased x4 different cakes. Which were okay, but again, I was expecting sensational. The buns were a little dry, mostly lacked filling/topping/flavour for our taste buds. I got overcharged but they soon realised the mistake & refunded me without question. We wouldn't come back sadly as £30 for x2 toasties & x4 average cakes is a little steep for what it is. If it became a little more indulgent then I wouldn't mind paying those kind of prices. Staff warm & friendly though & it gives cute little cafe vibes. It's right by the Quay, which is an added bonus for Takeaway.

The worst customer service experience I have ever had. As soon as we walked through the door the staff were unwelcoming and borderline hostile to us. Very tasty sourdough toasty. That however is the only positive for our experience of The Ridge. The two people serving, were to put it midly ,lack lustre. Not a friendly word said, not a smile. Our two bottles of drink were plonked on the table, no glass offered. Our one toasty that we wanted to share, as it was large, plonked down on one plate, with one napkin. Knowing we wanted to share, it would of been nice to of been offered another plate and napkin. My husband got up and asked at the counter for another napkin, not a word was said. It certainly felt like we were an inconvenience for them. This place had no atmosphere, no customers, and no personality. It's a shame as we always like to frequent independent businesses, rather than the larger ones. It's a miss for us.

I lived 50m from this place for years, and revisited over the weekend. A few points let it down disappointingly: 1.) Firstly, it’s hugely expensive (£27 for 4 small coffees and 2 cakes). 2) they are so far behind the times with regard the ‘dairy-free’ movement (for a professional coffee shop) only serving one alternative milk (oat). As a minimum they need Oat, Soya, Almond &/or coconut. 3) there wasn’t a smile between the four people working there! I was greeted with a grimace. 4) The cinnamon buns they sold were also pretty dry and not as good as the ones across the road at the bakery. 5) they didn’t offer four-cup takeaway holders, only two cups, making my 50m walk virtually impossible with my modest order. Clearly the management is somewhat off the mark nowadays. Not as good as I remember it.

They don't have highchairs, but were very accommodating about pushchairs, considering it's a very small space (I've been to other places where pushchairs aren't allowed in). My daughter accidentally burst a can of drink and the people working at the Ridge were so kind and helpful and didn't make a fuss at all. Don’t let the cute adverts persuade you to come here.. Pastries were extremely stale; A waste of £4 in all honesty. The Cinnamon bun specifically; Looks great online, whereas in person it’s a stale brick with so called ‘icing’ on. Pairing this, the staff’s attitude was also stale. No respect whatsoever. And after reading the Cafe’s replies to other low reviews; No it wasn’t a busy day. Both girls working not once presented a smile, or attempted to engage in conversation. You need to rethink your options for staff members if this is all your team consists of.

When I was eventually served there was still no smile and very little eye contact. The person who served me, who I think was the owner, wouldn't move from the till to take my order or several cakes. She then pointed me in the direction of the bags that I could put my take away in. During this time there we no other customers waiting to place an order. My absolute favourite place to get some grub from! The staff are always so very friendly and I’d recommend to anyone! It’s all so fresh as well. I always get two chicken tikka rolls because one is never enough it’s that good!!!

Been a regular for nearly a year. Well run, with great staff – an engaging, eclectic team giving the whole place a friendly, family-run feel. Linda (manager) provides freshly-prepared snacks and fascinating playlists (always interesting, never intrusive).

Lovely place to drink tea and chat, a quirky little place with great character! They do good tea and coffee, and have a simple selection of toasties, baguettes, waffles and a few other things. I would love to give it 5 stars but it could be a little more generous and have better quality bread!
