The Stand Off in Exeter

Very friendly personel reasonable prices and excellent food for a pub. Me and. my wife are visiting them very often and we are completely satisfied with the service.I strongly recommend Stand off.

£18.30 for two pints and two cans of Coke; not even large Cokes, a CAN. Wow. I paid £11 for the same order in another Exeter pub last week, and the Cokes were pints. I nearly had a heart attack when I was charged this much! I get that it's a city centre pub, but woah! Please have a think about soft drinks on tap for teens/kids/non drinkers. £2.75 for a can of Coke is ridiculous, sorry.

Bar is good, especially for sport. But the staff are rude

I came to the Stand Off with my work colleagues for our Christmas Do and had a brilliant time! The location is great, the discounts on drinks were brilliant and the staff were superb.. namely Jas and Andy. We had a lush time there and stayed for hours - I would recommend the Stand Off!

Had my works Christmas do here last night and it was epic! Super Christmassy and fun location. Food and drinks were amazing and the staff were all incredible! Super friendly.

The Standoff is superb. A lady called Jazz (maybe Jas for Jasmine?), her service was excellent. She gave us a really good table in what was a busy bar, then offered us an upgrade to a better table as some people were leaving. She also helped us out with a plastic carrier bag for our shopping as our paper carrier was falling to pieces in the rain.... Excellent pub, excellent service, and a special thank you to Jazz.

It's a return visit for me after a great experience a few years ago....place hasn't changed ....still great and I recognised the bar manager which shows it must be a good place to work too...had a burger....was made locally by a butcher ...was large , tasty and succulent...chips cooked to perfection....Guinness spot on....plus if you're flying out of Exeter airport the bus stop is 3 mins away. Highly recommend a visit.

Came here as a party of 7 for our work night out and was superb. Great service and the food was delicious and well presented (most of us got burgers as they have a good burger deal throughout the week (£9.95) I don't usually go to sports bars but I enjoyed the atmosphere here!

We ran a business event here this morning, and we are truly grateful for the level of service and support provided. The staff were great, very friendly and attentive. The food was lovely and the facilities were perfect 👌 If you're looking for a venue to host a business event in town, then definitely give this place consideration.

Came in for a few drinks. Staff were OK but atmosphere was really not for me- don’t go in unless you enjoy being surrounded by rugby old boys! Much better places in Exeter to go.

I was stared at from the barmaid because I was waiting for my drinks, which were just in front of her and not in front on me, or even on the bar. Like a Mexican stand off where I felt the need to actually ask if it’s ok to have my pints, all while the bar manager was dancing around in a world of his own, (but felt the need to step up and take payment). Not Impressed. Love steeno, not your bar staff. Update - - nearly 4 MONTHS later the Stand Off reply and spell my name wrong 😂😂 utter shambles

First time we had been in here. Great place to have a drink and some food. Staff were very pleasant and food was great. We will definitely be back.

We had trouble finding a car park and the staff helped us immensely. So nice and concerned. They looked after us really well. Thank you.

I did want to order food but that old man seems running the pub the way he wants , i walked with the menu tried to order first thing he was doing with out explaining first trying to grab the menu out of my hand telling me this is friday menu , im custmer , he serve customer with same glass !! It wasnt even busy to understand the way he is acting , nothing says the food stop serving at any time , in google it says till 11 , in the pub he did not even try to tell me that they stop serving food politlely

Do not go!!! Extremely rude member of staff at the bar, confronted me, made me feel very unwelcome, would not recommend to any one, horrible place, 100000 difference places in Exeter that are far better

The day we visited it was early evening, and there were two members of staff, one guy was very friendly, chatted with us, and always smiling he made our group feel welcome, but the other guy was miserable, with no conversation, and no smile, I would not go back.

Best pint of Guinness in Exeter... And I should know, I've had a few!?!

First time in the place. But was well impressed. The girls behind the bar were brilliant . Did not have anything to eat so can't help there.

Came for the 6 Nations on a stag do. Fantastic hosts which looked after us with some reserved seats.

Just popped in for a bite and a drink. Great friendly service food was quick and tasty and the free pool was a bonus

This is a decent pub and quite sports focused, which can mean that it's loud some nights. The service was good too (I only had a drink). Interestingly, if you're looking for one, it's one of the few pubs in Exeter that I've found that has a piano.

The roast was the best I've ever had. The meat was succulent, the veg was perfectly cooked & each of the vegetables had flavour accompanied to really bring out the best. Beautifully roasted carrots & potatoes, red cabbage, subtle cauliflower & broccoli cheese. Stemmed broccoli, parsnips & wow, the mushrooms! I usually drown my roasts in gravy but I didn't want to affect the stunning flavours of the food. Not to forget the gorgeous Yorkshire pud. Well done the Standoff & thank you for your great & friendly service.

Easily one of the best burgers ever. Top 3. Hot Disco (don't judge me 😂) Burger with extra cheese and upgrade to Sriracha fries. Soooooooo good. The staff is wonderful too. And as a sportsbar goes...top marks.

Visited a while ago for the roast, it was average at best, HOWEVER, came here last Sunday and the roast was 10/10!! Had the lamb and it was so tender and delicious. Veg was so full of flavour, the cauliflower cheese had truffle in it! Unreal! And the new addition of a purée was incredible! Such a generous portion, I couldn’t even finish it, as much as I wanted to because it was soooooo good! Definitely coming back.

Came to watch the Six Nations game with my boyfriend this evening. Brilliant service from all staff at all times - The Pub was heaving and they remained attentive all evening. Absolutely delicious food that we both enjoyed which was promptly served. Lovely atmosphere for the rugby and well managed.

Had our work Christmas party here; great venue. New addition Wingleaders is brilliant…best chicken in Exeter hands down.

Firstly, the good bit. The Guinness was excellent. We had travelled to see the Exeter Munster game and thought it would be a good place to see the Leinster Sale game, the previous night. The game was on numerous screens. T'was a pity that as the game kicked off, the PA was turned up to such a level that the commentary could not be heard. We asked a number of the Serving Staff to have the Music turned down but they all said that "the Manager says no". We went next door to the Black Horse who were more than happy to oblige. (and their beer was much cheaper too!) A very poor show from a so-called "Sports Bar"

We went for a work meal and it was lovely!

1st time in there. We normally use the Hole in the wall. But no food on so came here. Staff good food great and music 👍 back tomorrow after our win.

Great bar to watch rugby! Good pub grub. Service is always excellent. Best Guinness in Exeter, the bar is low, but it’s good. Sometimes a bit foody when you just want drinks.

The staff were great and welcoming despite it being super busy. Really accommodating and made the whole night!

Friendly staff but seriously overpriced. Over £12 for two pints (San Miguel and thatchers haze) where as the black horse pub which is 30yrds away is £8.00 for the same drinks

Free pool on the day that we went for some reason, probably a 4 star pub but I'm feeling generous and we got free pooling

Strange vibe. Old guy interfered with our seating plan and kept moving us around. We were spending money in his pub so he should treat customers better, and he needs to wear better deodorant. Not so many middle aged women hitting us up this time which was good. Might return - might have to get so drunk in another establishment because we’d need to be hammered to return.

Stupidly busy, it was England v Wales Rugby and it was way over crowded, Needed to be someone on the door to regulate numbers, women were being shoved out of the way as blokes pushed their way to the bar. We left after one drink as it was not safe.

Tried to book a table online, got an email back saying: Thank you for your enquiry, we will be in touch shortly. Please note this booking is not yet confirmed. A week later I called them only to find out that they hadn’t bothered to do anything with my booking request. At first they said they had some tables on stand by, then said they were fully booked for weeks, then tried to tell me I would have had an email saying I couldn’t book (I never got such email) & I have a reference booking number in my email, then said their system wasn’t working properly (that’s obvious) but apparently I could come in anyway to eat but couldn’t have a table. We were coming from out of area, visiting someone in Exeter, very disappointed with the way they handled our booking and has left it late in the day to be able to secure a table somewhere else! VERY POOR SERVICE!!!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!

Great noisy and boisterous pub. Not the place to come for a quiet drink. It was the Friday B4 Xmas and everyone was in high spirits.

Had our Christmas Meal here two years running, the best Christmas dinner in taste and presentation, fast efficient service and I can honestly say we’ve never felt so included and welcome, brilliant staff, so friendly and nothing is too much trouble - the stand off is one of a kind, pay it a visit!

Poor selection of lagers. Reasonably priced, shame all tables can be reserved etc.

Only stopped in for a quick pint on way back o hotel on a Monday night. Polite staff, clean toilets, reasonably priced Lager. Little heavy on the sports bar vibe, but I have to presume the pub has a strong connection to Rugby in Exeter.

A Rugby bar full of signed shirts of premier League players and internationals, good beer good food friendly faces, and plenty of room, open mic evenings and different events, a good bar.

Nice place. Plenty of screens for sport. Small and not enough seats and maybe too many reserved spots. But great atmosphere and friendly staff....and surprisingly reasonable beer prices too!

Stinks of BO and the toilets are a health hazard.
