Reasonably priced rooms but no breakfast supplied now. Beds were very soft - I prefer an orthopaedic mattress, but others may like this. Only one power socket near the bed, however the bedside light had two USB charging sockets. Ideal location for catching the 44 bus right outside the pub straight into the centre of Edinburgh ! Bus stop is called Currie Library. Free parking to the rear of the hotel.

The room I had booked was really cheap, so I wasn't expecting much and when I first got to the pub, I was really pleasantly surprised, it was lovely. Very friendly welcome and despite me being very early, I was shown to my room. Sadly it mostly went downhill from there. There were no toiletries supplied, not even soap or handwash - luckily I had my own so I could wash my hands. Once the water eventually ran hot that is - it took several minutes running the tap until it was hot - what a waste of water. There was a coffee machine in the room - brilliant, I thought! Except when I went to make myself an early coffee before I left in the morning, there wasn't any milk supplied. No one around to get some from either - and there was no breakfast available, which I hadn't realised until I got there, not a huge problem for me, but was surprising. Bed was incredibly uncomfortable - I really didn't sleep well on it. Far too hard and springy, my back was aching badly the next morning. The curtains didn't shut the light out, so the room didn't get very dark. The shower was terrible, not much pressure, and there were no shelves on which to put shampoo etc, so you had to keep bending down in a very tight space. The food in the pub was great. I ordered a couple of large whiskies to help my dinner go down, and had no idea until the bill came that they were almost £10/shot! I paid £40 for 2 large whiskies, which was a bit of a shock, I feel they could have mentioned it when I ordered them. The staff were also not particularly friendly or welcoming (I didn't see the lady who welcomed me originally again). Location was great - bus stop right outside, which took about 35 minutes into Edinburgh; also there was a train station about 15 mins walk downhill which was about 20 mins to the centre.

So sorry to write this but it is very average which is fine for pub grub but not at the prices they charge. The Riccy and Kinleith used to be good. Sorry they are not now.

Amazing staff, nothing too much trouble, service fast and food gorgeous! Value exceptional, the back of house team and front of house work effortlessly together. Always busy but covers produced in the time scale expected, Julie, I would take her home! Warm, friendly and just has that thing which is exceptional customer service, a rarity in hospitality, if only I had her in my business. Perfect for a pint, lunch or dinner! Lone diner or group! Fantastic. Thank you

This truly was a pub with a few rooms - 4 to be exact. The rooms were clean, but a bit dated. The bed was not as firm as it could have been - I felt like I could roll right off the side. The tub was deep - great for a hot soak - but lacked handles to hoist oneself up and out. The shower apparatus was confusing also. The pub was packed the night we arrived and were told we could only stay a short time (without a booking) due to their trivia game night - so we ate hurriedly and retired early. Breakfast was delicious and generous - but it lacked consistently from day to day - depending on who was on duty. Jeff & Hazel were very pleasant. If you like a good pub and a lively atmosphere, this is your place. If you want a quiet respite for older weary tourists, you should look elsewhere. Very limited parking.

I only stayed one night but it was beautiful. Our bed was so soft and I slept amazingly. The bathrooms are a good size too. It has a kettle with tea and instant coffee and biscoffs. I enjoyed mine. I sat one afternoon in the garden area and relaxed with a beer. We later ate dinner in the restaurant and shared since they were large portions. Some people we were visiting in Edinburgh wondered why we were in Currie, we told them when i saw this place online I was so excited to stay there. It's only about a 20 min drive to a busy part of Edinburgh. I would love to revisit. The town doesn't have a lot but it has a beautiful view, wonderful people, a couple grocery options and a bakery within distance of where we stayed. It was lovely to unwind. And it's more affordable too!

The customer service was perfect! The ambiance is fun and relaxed, the interior design is really typical of Scotland! The rooms were clean. I had a lot of fun! The bar is really cool too! I recommend it! ***please note that the rooms are extremely cold and that it takes time for the heater to warm up the room after you start it. We had a double room and we were all freezing for a good part of the night. If you can bring extra blankets or sleep with warm clothes do it!

Super cozy. And everyone who attends is super attentive and predisposed. I would return without hesitation. The location is not ideal if you are looking to be closer to the center of Edinburgh. Even so, at the door there is the 44 and 45 that leave you at your destination and at the main train stations. The Scottish breakfast is delicious and homemade! For 12 pounds you have a very abundant breakfast. Next door there is a very Scottish style pub. I recommend without hesitation.

What a fantastic little gem. Right in the heart of Edinburgh but in a quiet location. Staff outstanding and so friendly. Rooms. every one was different but spotless. Food was excellent and there was a discount on evening meals if you were resident in the hotel. Quirky but in keeping with the traditional build of the area. Liked it so much myself and my wife will visit again shortly and take in a show at the playhouse theatre only 5 mins walking away. Highly recommend.

So, let me explain...my previous review below was the truth....back then. Since then, La Favorita has declined and is more consistently disappointing rather than the best they used to be. We order at least once a week, every week. The pizza consistency is now awful. Last night it was more of a light, thin tasteless dough. Last week there was extra semolina on the base and a lot darker. Sometimes it's thicker, sometimes its thinner. The chicken tenders have varied wildly over the last 4 weeks. Sometimes small and lots, sometimes 3, sometimes 4 larger ones. Some overcooked and really brown, some lighter...in the same box....! It's really disappointing. Looking at the website, you can not place an order for collection! I wanted to contact them direct to leave feedback, but the constant pop-up advising no collection and have i contacted the store, only to reveal there is only 1 store now. This just annoyed me more. Given there are 3 brand new pizza places, actually closer to me than Leith Walk and 2 of them get much better reviews, I've always been loyal to La Favorita, but it's being tested every time now. I don't know how or why you've lost your mojo, consistency, love, quality, chefs or whatever it is. The secret to any successful business is do something good, consistently and leave it simple. You don't see award winning restaurants or take-aways churning out massive menu's. You go anywhere in Europe and the award winning, massively popular places are the ones that focus on doing a small number of things, really well. It feels like you are churning out pizzas, toppings indiscriminately thrown on, you use to put oregano on, this stopped. Last night, only 2 slices had all of the allocated red chilli, the others no chilli. It's just sloppy. The dough is massively inconsistent. Putting differently coloured chicken tenders in the same order is just wrong. I'm going to leave my previous review below, This is how you are. Below is how you were. Please get better. 2 Years ago............ I can't fault La Favorita, their pizzas are the best I've ever had, outisde of Italy. The smokey wood fired taste, the base, touch of oregano, the quality of ingredients are genuinely mouth-watering. Having had quite a few deliveries, I find collection is the best method. I have noted that they have reheating instructions on the box now. I do pop it in the oven for 2 or 3 mins on a pizza stone after collecting it, unless it was fresh out of the oven. To be completely honest, I would eat it cold for breakfast too. It's a shame they no longer sell the chicken broccolli pasta and I don't find their arancini that good. The last few times, they have been overcooked and far too expensive for what you get. The calamari has been excellent on occasion, on others, not the best. I find their pizzas are mostly consistently excellent. Having tried many others in the area, there is no competition. Apart from their garlic bread, I have found somewhere that I prefer but the pizzas.....faultless.
