Fayre Play in Edinburgh, City of

Went on a Friday so was very busy. It isn’t explained well enough by staff what you’re supposed to do. There wasn’t enough staff for all the games so you spend more time waiting for someone to set the game up or tell you what the rules are. Took ages to order food and even longer for it to arrive.. to the wrong table. When it did come best burger and fries I’ve ever had. Would honestly come again just for the food. The drinks are quirky and unique and all come with something fun like a packet of sweets or a rubber duck. Bring this down to England and I will be sure to visit! Not worth the price by the way, £80 for two people was not worth it.

Had such fun! Apart from the unhelpful girl on reception all other staff were brilliant! Would definitely recommend.

Didn't have the food. The cocktails were okay. Was great fun playing the games. Quite high scores needed to get any stamps to win the ducks. Would defo go back though.

We didn’t have food so can’t comment on it but had a great time nice atmosphere friendly helpful staff and fun games providing something different from a normal day out to the pub would definitely recommend great way to start off your day out .

Nice and original place for starting your night out with friends. Games are a lot of fun, specially if you are a group. Staff are amazing. However, hopefully soon they have an overthink about the place as the vibe is not quite yet a high standard.

Such a great wee place to have fun playing some carnival games!! We bought the package deal for £38.50 and it was great! Definitely worth the money, drinks were good sizes and measures and the games were so much fun! The staff were all lovely and explained everything so well! Will definitely be back for more fun ✨

Drinks are great but they take ages to make so if there’s a queue you’re screwed. Games are obviously rigged as it’s a fairground theme, but some some of the sensor are literally broken. I counted my basketball hoops and scored 29 but it thought I did 25 (losing me a stamp). The sensor for the gun game is also dodgy. Some games are not fun as they are totally impossible like the fish and calton hill ones. Don’t come expecting a prize, only 6 of the 10 games are skill-based.

We had so much fun today!! It was honestly the highlight of our day!! All of the games were super fun and was a great start to our night out. Would be an amazing place for a group of people or a party but would even recommend for a date! Thank you so much to all of the staff who were super friendly and even played some of the games with us! And we won a duck!! Thank you again for such a great experience!!

A great place for a work outing or a hen or stag party. Our bride got a free drink voucher which was lovely. The staff are very friendly. Games are great fun. It's over 18s only but I think they would make a fortune if they did teen birthday parties earlier in the day! I would come back here for a date night. Very close to tram bus station etc.

For a MINIMUM of fifteen pound a person entry fee you'd think the games are at least reasonably winnable but NO. 99% of these games are completely, and I mean completely, rigged against you. The amount of points required to win keeps goin up - as evidenced by how they keep rubbing out the stated points you need to earn to get a duck stamp out and writing in higher and higher points on the signs. The required points for a stamp is ridiculous and not achievable, taking all the fun out of it. The game where you throw a ball at a can to knock it over is made completely unwinnable when cans will get knocked VERY hard by the ball and come back up like they haven't been touched at all. A big waste of money and I am telling everyone and anyone I know to avoid coming here. The only thing good about this place are the staff, who were very lovely and, I suspect, underpaid. I am posting a review on every single site I know. Please consider this a formal complaint. This is not even mentioning the extortionate prices for drinks and beverages - which are NOT covered in the fifteen pound!

Incredible little spot, great idea and a small menu served to perfection. House fries alone are to die for but I'd recommend the Fire Eater all day long.

Me and my partner had an amazing time! It’s a really fun place to go to and worth the money. We didn’t have time to try and food or cocktails but will be coming back!

Whilst it was fun, it is small and would suggest going when quiet as you may need to wait around. Overall it was good and would go again.

Went with my girlfriend during the evening and it was so much fun! The staff were amazing at explaining the games and keeping us right. They had great options for non alcoholic beer, which was much appreciated and the mocktails were especially delicious! The staff definitely made the night better and had a good laugh with us. Would definitely recommend as a night out with a big group or even with a significant other.

Great evening, a very small limited menu but the food was beautiful. Games were great fun and despite our poor efforts we did not win a plush duck. We bought the food and drinks package which was good value based on the menu prices however I think the package should be 3 drinks instead of the 2 if you are drinking mocktails. The only downfall for us was the drinks menu. Being particularly fussy drinkers my friend had 3 of the cocktails and never really enjoyed any of them. I had the one mocktails which was ok but again there wasn't a huge selection. I would have preferred more classic cocktails such as woo woo, sex on the beach and purple rain etc. but again were just fussy and that's personal preference. Since we didn't win a duck. My duck obsessed friend did purchase a plush duck which were glad we could still do.

What an amazing place! Although I didn’t manage to win but the atmosphere and customer service are a very high level! Definitely a place to visit, we will be back!

First time here and have to say it was amazing, great atmosphere and really fun games! Our fayre pal Brett was really cool, down to earth and helpful during our time. Didnt get the chance to try out the food as kitchen was closed at the time i was there but nevertheless i would highly recommend to everyone and I'll be back again soon, need to win that big duck!

Great fun, had a blast with a couple of friends. Staff all really friendly and enjoy some banter. Games are nearly impossible to win (unrealistic targets in every game) but we only went for the fun and not to win a duck so had a blast.

bouncers unfriendly, drinks cheap and mostly overpriced sugar syrup. the interieur is pretty cheap as well, toilets dirty and two of three broken. pretty neat for all the visiting social welfare recipients though!

came in here a fair few times now and i’m always treated so well by the staff. drinks are always well made & the staff members managing the games are always nice to talk to and make you feel welcome!

Went with 2 friends on Saturday afternoon. We were really excited to try it but ended up feeling a bit disappointed with how much waiting around there was. I was under the impression that because you pre-booked a time slot, there would be a certain capacity for each session which would make sure there wasn’t too long waiting to play each game. We had to queue at least 5 minutes for every single game, and a few of them it was longer. When we decided to go and get a drink to get a break from queuing, the line to order at the bar was even longer! We went downstairs to see if it was quieter, there were still queues for all the games and the bar was shut despite staff upstairs telling us they were about to open the downstairs bar. It took another 15 minutes to get a drink before we re started queuing again to play games. We missed out on playing 2 of the games because there just wasn’t enough time due to how busy it was. There doesn’t seem to be anyone policing people staying only their 90 minute slot which is maybe why it was so ridiculously busy but to be honest it kind of ruined the experience. I mentioned to a member of staff how long it was taking to queue for each game and they said it was just a bit busy because it was a Saturday - surely this shouldn’t make a difference as each time slot should have the same capacity ??? The games were fun but having to wait around so much was a drag. The staff were nice but having more would have probably helped matters. Probably won’t be back.

I went here for my sister. Hen do and then when back week after! It was really fun. Good for the date, good for the hong out. Very kind workers as well. The food was great as well!

Had a brilliant time Friday, would 100% recommend for dates or groups. Was lucky enough to walk away with a giant duck too. Good drinks selection and the staff make the place even more fun!

First time visiting and it was great fun, the games especially on the top floor are great. We did the package that allowed a meal and two drinks along with two rounds of games. It was well worth the money. The only thing I would say is that sometimes there is a wait for games sometimes because there are no staff for each game or although there are four slots per game sometimes it was only two people at a time that were taken. Food was tasty but did have a wee bit of a wait. Definitely a place I'd go back to was good fun and good value.

First time here was the absolute best! The staff are amazing, with the best attitude and are super friendly. The venue itself is buzzing with great energy! The games are super fun and keep you busy for so long. I loved the drinks, each cocktail has its own twist, so there’s something for everyone. What I personally loved was the Photo Booth! It was such a fun time and super affordable. Oh, and there are lockers for people to use for their stuff and they were free. Aside from all that fun stuff, there’s also the fact that this place is a photo goldmine! Opportunities for cute shots literally everywhere.

Went here at the start of June for my birthday. I heard from a friend that she had a great time so myself and my partner tried it out. It was a fantastic night out!! The drinks are incredible and very well presented. A special shout out to Chloe who was working on the bar - fantastic customer service and a genuinely lovely person. If you want a fun activity before a day sesh definitely give this place a shot. Very very good value for money.

Every time we come to Edinburgh we always come to Fayre play and we finally got the BIG DUCK!! Always have an amazing time, drinks and food are great and the staff are always cheering us on!

From the moment we walked in, Chloe, our amazing host, made us feel right at home. Her warm and engaging personality set the tone for the evening. She explained the games thoroughly and kept us entertained with her chatty and funny demeanour. The pricing is excellent value for money. For a reasonable fee, you get to play 8 different games, each with 2 rounds. This setup gave us plenty of time to enjoy a variety of games without feeling rushed. Definitely a place we'll be returning to again!

Great fun but hard! Staff are very nice. The only thing I can really comment on was the finish of the place. It could do with a bit of polish.

I booked fayre play for a group of 8 for my friends birthday, we had the best time! The games were fun, the staff were really friendly and it made for a really memorable birthday. Special mention for Lily who was a delight the entire time, informative and friendly and totally made the day extra special! Thanks Lily!

As a spontaneous trip it was lovely. We visited the down stairs bar as the queue up stairs was long. The bar had been set up incorrectly (bar man’s words, not mine) so one cocktail wasn’t available, one we had ordered was missing an ingredient and waited about 15mins for two drinks. We also tried to order two shots off the menu and these were also not available so we were offered an alternative basic shot. Was a little disappointed in the drinks. Games were lots of fun. Very hard to win a stamp but we had fun. If we headed back we would defo just order pints.

What an amazing experience! The choice of activities, the selection of games to perform was great. Me and my group of friends (4 overall) went on a Saturday afternoon, although it was busy we had an amazing time. All the staff were encouraging and friendly. It was a really great day out.

Great place for fun with friends you get an amazing choice of quirky cocktails themes are brilliant on these, my friends & I had burgers which were so tasty with fries which were good but a little over overly salty. You get 2 hours to play all the games & have food which when it was busy as it was when we were there you just can't get round all the games by time you que. The games are good though, a definite great day out of misspent youth for us older generations & amazing for younger wanting something different from the norm of a typical day out pub crawl. 😀

We didn’t eat food, only negative for me was 2 of the games not functioning as the should, hitting frogs down game 1 machine broken and balls getting stuck in game when throwing underarm into the 3 holes, other than that we had fun

fun but also felt dangerously close to something you could put together at home and it’s very hard to win a prize! however the toilets were spotless and smelt very clean which was a huge plus!

We had an excellent Sunday evening at Fayre Play. The games were fun (and challenging!) and everybody had a great time trying to beat the high scores. We went for the Lucky Duckers package, which came with a very generous bottle of prosecco (each!) as well as a hot dog and fries (which were genuinely incredibly tasty, far exceeded expectations) and a free (consolation) duck toy. Would highly recommend and we'll definitely be back to try to win the big duck!

Fun place, staff are very helpful but bar staff do need to open up more bars or provide more staff, as well be more firm towards people who keep changing their mind on drinks or food or bringing friends in (cutting in) Games are fun and basic what you'd see, food could be better for the price and time could be better as half of food was cold but other than that, fun experience would recommend and return

If you are after something a bit different which is so much fun then you definitely need to give this place a try. We went on a Thursday night & it wasn’t too busy so we were able to get a turn on everything more or less straight away. There were plenty staff around to guide us through and Michael was exceptionally helpful, assisting with the games, advising on the menu & taking photos of our group for us. We had the best night from start to finish & I’d definitely recommend.

A group of 4 booked for a Saturday afternoon. It was very busy which gave a good atmosphere but felt crowded at times. Bar staff were quick serving us and drinks tasted great. Games were a lot of fun and competitive for us, they were challenging as well! Staff working the games were helpful and friendly and explained it all very well. The only downside was the length of time waiting, between games due to the number of people but mostly for our food to be served. This wait was very long for no apparent reason. Food tasted great once it came though.

Lily, Michael and Siobhan were amazing. They were passionate about their job, gave clear instructions, friendly and built great rapport. They didn't accept bribes and dealt well with drunk customers. They were a pleasure to meet and represented your establishment well.

So much fun, lots to do and staff manage queues well. Very reasonably priced drinks for city centre. Special thanks to Lucy and Kyle who made our experience so much better.
