Visited on a busy week night after booking earlier that day. Staff were attentive, wasn't kept waiting at any point. Food was OK but not exceptional. Had the sea bass and side of veg. Fairly expensive for what it was.

Got a voucher for my birthday and was looking forward to dine out at The Ivy. Iam a Coeliac and was very disappointed with my choices!! I had the shepherd's pie which was ok!! Small portion!! And the only dessert I could have was a lemon sorbet!!! I had to scan a QR code firstly to see what a could eat!!! Don't think I will be visiting The Ivy again!!!😒.

I couldn’t resist the urge to taste “local” with real fish and chips! It was super good! The alcohol is quite expensive and the dishes are decent although a little expensive. We pay for the decor and the service. Our bill £64 1 main course, 1 menu (starter and main course) and 2 glasses of wine.

Service was slow and lacked attention to detail resulting in an alcoholic g&t being served rather than a non alcoholic g&t as requested and also bits floating in the white wine. One of our servers dropped the tartre sauce on the floor next to me which smashed and splashed up me. The olives and drinks we ordered to start took ages to arrive and turned up just before the main course. We agreed to see the dessert menu but it failed to arrive, so we asked for the bill instead. I would say that the drinks were changed when we pointed our the issues and we weren't charged for the g&t. Staff apologised. We've had the same issues with the g&t in the Birmingham Ivy, so be careful if you're driving!

Went to The Ivy in Edinburgh with my daughters on 25/10 for my 70th birthday. The Ivy has a welcoming atmosphere, the service professional and friendly, and the food was really good and well presented. Compared with other Ivy restaurants we have been into in York, Harrogate and Glasgow we felt that the menu was a bit restrictive if you were not a meat eater, other Ivys we have been in this year have a much more accommodating to be honest. A bit disappointing sadly

I went with my wife and daughter. My daughter had a burger , which first of all didn’t come on time.. and ended up being sent the wrong one..despite asking for no mayo and no salad only cheese) .. The waiter apologised for the delay and the incorrect order, and then another long wait for her burger, this time they forgot the cheese.. They got it wrong twice!!!! Tried to spot someone to talk to, but my daughter said not to bother.. as she would have to wait again,, by this time me and my wife had finished our starters and my daughter ended up eating alone.. I would have thought the waiter would have come and enquired if my daughter’s burger was ok this time around? Anyways all I can say is the food( pertaining to the order requirements) and service can be improved to match the atmosphere!

We visited Edinburgh and decided to book the Ivy as we regularly visit several nearer to where we live in London . The restaurant is beautiful as they all are, but not quite as well organised , we waited far too long after mentioning a birthday plus the need to leave at a certain time to grab a taxi to the airport , we only had time for one course which was a shame as we had two hours . Service wasn’t up to the standard of the other locations. The bread is delicious, food is always fabulous but the staff don’t seem to be located tables or areas so you just flag people down for the bill etc , it was very busy and I’m sure the staff did what they could, but this experience was not an enjoyable one and I would certainly not recommend this particular restaurant until they reorganise themselves at a higher level.

I very much had FOMO when it came to the Ivy. I was terribly disappointed. The decor is amazing, the food was just OK. I had fish and chips, chips were already salted, I couldn’t eat them, I wish restaurants would not assume everybody wants their chips salted, the batter on the fish was just a little too overdone and a bit rubbery. I suspect it wasn’t a good quality fish given it didn’t say on the menu. The sticky toffee pudding was very lovely however. Service was atrocious, waited far too long to be served in between courses. One female server was particularly frosty with us a few times, not as much as a smile and trying to hurry us up to pay the bill which was for 6 people so we needed time to calculate. The one young server was however so polite and helpful. The older ones should take a few lessons there. There were a lot of staff on when we were there but service was shoddy In brief, I had nothing to “fear of missing out”.

I was looking for a nice place for a quiet dinner while traveling alone and found The Ivy Edinburgh online. I got there slightly before my reservation and had a cocktail at the bar while waiting for my table. The Taste of Autumn was phenomenal. The Truffle Tagliolini was decadent. I had a very odd experience here in late August. I was at the ivy with some friends and we asked for the bill to be split (we're Canadian and forgot that that wasn't common in the UK). The food was fine but overpriced, the decor was beautiful. While we waited for the bill, the manager and the server were hovering around our table telling us we needed to go as the next group was waiting (which was stressful and uncomfortable). We told them we were waiting for our bill and that it was on their end at that moment. The manager intervened and brought the bill over. We assumed they didn't split the bill and paid without looking too closely and left. As we walked down the street on our way to a Fringe show, they called to tell me we only paid half off our bill and we needed to return to pay the rest. We would be late to our show if we did that, so they said they could email me the information. I responded to the email with times that I could come back over the weekend to pay for the rest of the bill. What followed was bizarre. I had provided times that I could come by in person and to let me know what was best, and no one responded to me so I continued to enjoy my holiday. They started calling while I was not available and asking me to pay over the phone or come in at times that I had specifically not provided as available. Finally, we were able to drop by and pay the bill. From a hospitality perspective I'm not sure that the harassing phone calls were worth the small bill that we had to pay. Their staff made the mistake and they probably should have just dealt with it internally as they rushed us out and didn't communicate internally. We won't be returning in the future, and we won't be recommending this restaurant as it was a strange experience. There are so many better restaurants with better customer service in the city.

So having eaten @ The Ivy London our expectations were high & boy what a let down. Steak tartare was bland even though my husband asked the waiter to ask chef if he could spice it up. Never happened. My cod was tasty but overcooked. Desserts never happened due to staff not paying attention or being that interested. We asked for service charge & steak tartares to be removed & they were. Would not return. Roll on October for London. Your staff are everything & they employ uni students who engage little & walk around in a daze in Edinburgh. London employ the best who understand the assignment & from the minute you step in the door their job is to make sure you have the best experience.

Had waited and waited for drinks order to arrive then had to look for a waiter to put the food order in as they never came back and then took quite a while to arrive. However once dessert finished the ‘manager’ was standing with the receipt before we asked for it and was overly serious and did not smile or even engage in small talk which made the restaurant seem less welcoming.

Disappointed, given previous enjoyable experiences at The Ivy!!! Booked to celebrate a family member’s birthday and after being shown to our table and offered water, we waited around 15 minutes before a drinks order was taken. The rose’ wine we wanted wasn’t available and the next nearest priced bottle was ANOTHER £18 more!!! Decided to go for red and were told that 2 different reds asked for were also not available! After starter orders were taken, they arrived 15-20 mins later. They were ok, but around 40 mins had passed before we had eaten anything. Main dishes were fine, although I remember the monkfish and prawn curry being better than it was on this occasion. The John Dory fish special was also fine, but not great. Desserts were good, but by this time, our group were definitely unimpressed with how things had been overall. Service was included on the bill and I don’t grudge that, as our server was apologetic about the wine issues, which were clearly not his fault. However, our experience of The Ivy on this occasion was not great and had us feeling that it was resting on its’ laurels and was more about “style over substance”.

Made reservations and glad we did, quite a busy area. Decor is charming and quirky. Was worried about the negative reviews about slow service and we ended up having a very good meal and attentive staff. Starters were the duck salad with watermelon which was excellent, very refreshing. Also a side salad with pine nuts, also very fresh. For dinner the boys had a burger and steaks, I had the shepherd’s pie. The servings are small here by American standards but I find them to be perfect because then we can have dessert! Lovely apple tart flambé and a good cup of espresso. Would definitely return and recommend to friends visiting the area.

A restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The food was good too. Likewise the service. The problem was that 6 of us couldn't eat what was announced as the specialty of the month and that's why we chose this restaurant. It simply wasn't available, even on the 2nd day of the month. The red wine on the menu that we wanted to drink wasn't available either. Also our second choice. Finally we chose mineral water; there was that. The manager to whom we explained the problem reacted bluntly. Elsewhere there would have been coffee as an apology. Be careful: the “voluntary” tip is already automatically included on the bill.

Sadly, our visit was not up to usual standards. Service fadded. Initially, it was very good, but as the restaurant emptied, it became very patchy. We ordered decaf coffee, and they were surprised when we rejected ordinary coffee asking for brandy, no ice, warmed glass. The correct coffee finally came but no brandy. We gave up and left, and as the brandy didn't arrive and we'd finished our coffee. The table next to us had to actually get up and find a server to take their order. Very un Ivy like service.

We had, my girlfriend and I, teatime at Ivy's today. At our arrival we were placed outside.. and seemingly forgotten for 15 minutes. We came back in and a waitress went to check if a table was available. The feeling inside was incredible, arranged with a lot of taste. We were presented the teatime menu and went for it. The presentation was spectacular, dry ice smoke and a lot of variaty in the dishes. Unfortunatly the snacks were dreadful (special mention for the truffle-chicken sandwich, the red velvet cupcakes and the chocolate mousse which were pretty good). The rest of the offering was quite below our expectations for the given price. An unsalted cucumber and water soaked sandwich, a puffpastry with salty cream in it followed. The apricot doughnuts were dry and felt like leftovers. The salmon sandwich had a truely weird taste. We basically spent 80£ for 3 worthy dishes. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone trying to have a pleasurable tea-time. - A fellow chef

It was only the intervention of the receptionist who knew we had paid that allowed us to leave!!! And when the mistake was realised we were hustled out the door and given the change from cash transaction without an apology !! I am left disappointed and angry!!! Not what I expected!!!! Front of house servers were polite, courteous, professional, very friendly and went that extra mile to make our celebration dinner special. The location and decor of the restaurant were also really lovely. However, the time it took for food and drink to arrive was completely unacceptable. Over 20 minutes to wait for a glass of coke, and nearly an hour for the mains is not very good. Also, the value for money on many of the food items was appalling. We object greatly to items such as the steak or chicken not coming as a full meal despite being up to 40 pounds and having to spend up to 10 pounds on top, on sides, to make it so. The quality of the food was very good however, and the desserts were really nice. Quite a nice place for a special occasion, you just have to be careful what you order.

Anything but….. superb Small plates, everything was fantastic Monkfish satay I could eat many every night of the week One area for improvement - pacing, all the dishes came at once, filling the small table and some became cold. Highly recommended

It's right on the river walk. So very picturesque. The room, need, towels very polish. Towel heater was a special touch! Met some wonderful people, great breakfast and dinner was fab.! The people working there are the best made our stay very comfortable and we can't wait to go back!

The menu is out of date, up to date prices are not displayed. There is no takeaway menu. Whilst the food is reasonable there is need for an alternative within South Queensferry. Here is hoping.
