The Regent in Ashfield

Food was cold, The Sunday lunch considered of one table spoon of potatoe, 2 very over done hollow roast potatoes, a spoon of peas, 2 tiny pieces of carrot, and 1 piece of over cooked broccoli and a cold Yorkshire pudding. The meat was cold on one dinner and the other inedible. When it came to leaving we noticed the food star hygiene label on most of the menus had been covered over. When we asked why, I was told they had lost the rating but wouldn't tell me what the rating was. I'm not surprised with the temperature of the food and the cooked standards. Very disappointed. I wint be returning.

Food was awful. Scrambled eggs on toast clearly overdone in the microwave and looked and tasted like rubber. Veggie breakfast wrap, the wrap was very stale and hard and inedible. Neither was eaten. Would not return or recommend. Service wasn't very friendly either.

I had a Sunday lunch at The Regent with family, while I was tucking in, I noticed that there was a maggot on the plate. When I raised it with the manager, he told me it was just part of the meat. Absolutely disgusting service. AVOID!

So disappointed kids running around like it was a nursery and out of the 4 ales I tried 3 was off. And there was no WIFI even the staff said it was rubbish 😕

So we went into the opening of this place as the wetherspoons sold to number 1 pub company and is now rebranded as "The Regent" to sample their new menu with higher expectations than the wetherspoons menu and were fairly disappointed the food came and looked as if it were cheap cafe style we thought we would get better quality but we were wrong it came cooked well and still tasty but the prices are higher and the quality is lower, the staff were friendly and the drinks were nice, but the substandard food was a let down the wetherspoons that this company replaced did a better job

Was so disappointed with The Picture House in Sutton In Ashfield that we went to The Regent instead. Go to The Picture House, say no more. Tired and dated with very little in the way of customer service. Frankly, we couldn't wait to leave.

This place restaurant/pub has always been good been going there since I was a small child. The food is always nice.

Without doubt the worst breakfast we have ever had, absolutely disgusting. Ordered 4 full English breakfasts and the beans where stone cold along with the hash browns. Sent it back and waited another 15 minutes and out come the replacements. Burnt bacon, fried eggs that where black underneath and so over cooked you could but your fork in the yolk and pick the whole fried egg up. There was a pool of grease on the plate that I tipped onto a side plate and just gave up and left it. A while back it was ok in here but on this mornings experience we definitely won’t be back.

We have used this Spoons on-and-off for a good while now and have never been disappointed. Today (Sat. 21/05/22) we thought we'd pop in for lunch around 13.00. The place was reasonably busy, not rammed just plenty of punters. Not sure what had happened, but all the empty tables seemed to be piled high with used plates and cutlery. The few tables that were empty and could have been used were actually really quite grubby and needed a good clean. Plenty of food remains scattered over the floor too. Were the staff just too rushed off their feet to actually clear up? The place looked pretty unappetizing, so sorry, we turned round and left.

Nom nom. You always know what you are going to get at spoons.. My friend and I eat here once a month.. lovely during the day or early evening before the beer drinkers descend.lol

The quality of the food isn't any problem for me, typical Spoons. However, the tables were dirty all over the place. We politely asked a girl to clean the table, explaining when she had time as she seemed to be on her own. She said yes but over 30 minutes later the table had not been cleaned and the food arrived on a dirty table. She was chit chatting to her family or friends constantly instead. When the food came I asked for Vinegar, and despite it being on the opposite table (which i hadn't seen) the guy just said "it's there" and walked off. All he had to do was be hospitable and pass the vinegar when our meals were on the table.

Usually love Wetherspoons but this place is awful & management well below usual standards (perhaps James area manager ought to step in ) my brother on friday 3rd Jan 2020 ordered 2x fish & chips meals inc drinks @ £7.25 each which is an excellent price of course but when paying for it was charged an extra 49p for his Fosters & an extra 35p for the house red (standard measure not large) when he questioned this the manager who will lose customer satisfaction told him that "the deal is at the time & not always correct " ???? what was he on about ? £6.25 or £7.25 with drink & my brother just had Fosters lager & 1x house red (not large) so this is quite clearly a charge that should not have been made. The food was fine but the principal stinks & James the area manager should address this as my brother has sent an Email to head office on the advice of the duty manager on Sat 4th Jan 2020 so i thank her for her advice although she could not over ride the manager but did suggest sending an Email to Tim Martin @ wetherspoons head office so thank you Carla as you were very friendly. The amount of money is trivial but the principal remains so check you receipt when going here.

The staff are nice and its a ok place to go for dinner but if you have a full English breakfast part of it will always be cold.

Visited Monday morning, only about 4 tables in the whole place, manager stood chatting to chef and staff moaning about another members drinking habits on a Saturday nightS Placed order got my own hot drink sat down and breakfast turned up straight away, no surprise everything was cold No staff to complain to and no check back completed - at least the coffee out the machine was hot!

Best place to get your food. Professional, mix an order up regularly but just cut them some slack. Known greatly in there due to my YT channel - Adam-G Music

Very poor not as ordered extremely disappointed got sirloin instead of rump cold not cooked correctly and girlfried almost in tears

Ordered on the app, 15 mins till food that is fair but wasnt busy at all and food was barely warm. Drinks came a good 5 mins after. Asked for straws with drinks and was told bare with me! Why? Your clearly not busy 2 mins later walks out so clearly more bothered about shift finishing than customer service. Wont be going there again for sure

First visit here and was very happy, service very quick. Staff all helpful and friendly, food good quality and good sized portions.

Every town needs a Spoons. We've been using our local at least t twice per week since it opened. It's exactly as you'd expect it to be. Always there for a quick breakfast, a decent evening meal on the hop, a great Thursday curry, or pre-drinks prior to a night out. Staff are universally helpful and friendly, and they do their best to keep the place clean. However, choose your times carefully. It's often full of families who can't or won't control their kids, and acoustically the pub is really noisy. Go early to avoid the rush and noise. But, a great handy pub to have in the town.

13 of us visited here for brunch. Orders taken quickly and hot delicious food arrived promptly. Place was clean, staff welcoming. Toilets, upstairs, were clean.

No matter how many times I visit ‘spoons, I will never get used to people drinking pints at 8am on a rainy Tuesday morning...it just seems so wrong in our climate! This one is clean, friendly, and has some of the best staff I have seen in a small town pub. The food and drink are, as always, well priced, and I will continue visiting no Matter who sneers!

I have been there in the past where it was pretty nice but this week the service was pretty inadequate. I am not normally one for snotty reviews but to be honest there isn't much to say about this place as we had such a poor experience and there was no excuse for this.Service was unbelievably slow, and by the time we did get served we got que cutted by a young woman and as we told the lad our order he focused his attention to her despite being mid-sentence! Absolutely shocking and very rude from both of them!!!! No apology or anything!I cant say much about the food as due to the waiting times for the drinks it was stone cold by the time we got back to the table! We should not have to wait this long to get served.Also that was the third time my parents asked for a specific meal and failed to have it in stock! They didn't sell the beer I wanted despite it being on the menu.We have since been to other places that gave use not only quick service but also had what we wanted food wise. Unless the above changes we have no reason to come back anytime soon I am afraid.

we use this wetherspoons often with living local and have never had any problems in the past but for the last 2 weeks we've had poor service from a young guy who works here he doesn't seem happy at all and wasn't very polite when approaching us - a smile doesn't hurt! also took pots and cutlery away when people hadn't finished eating and said "have you done?' while taking it away which I find very rude! we wont stop eating here but think you need to train some of your staff.

Been to many Wetherspoons but this was by far the worst. Place was pretty grubby. Sat at the only available table which was still dirty. Asked waitress if she could wipe it down. Felt like I'd asked for the world. She half heartedly wiped the table (missing all the sticky stains).

Hit or miss at this place, sometimes reasonable, other times can be shocking and last night 12th Feb it was shocking. We ordered 4 steaks and only one was cooked as requested. Our two friends requested side salads with their steaks but didn't get any at all. One was overcooked but our friend decided to persevere with it. Our own two steaks were supposed to be medium and medium rare - both were black and well overcooked. The half tomato was also charred black and inedible. We sent our steaks back so our friends had nearly finished their meals by the time we got ours back. We still weren't happy, very dark appearance, not quite medium or medium rare, three of the steaks, 14oz, were tough, mine was very tough, and only one 8oz sirloin was tender. Not good enough. As we left we saw a chef out at the back smoking. The steaks have not been as good as they used to be since they had to change supplier when that company was changing use by dates on the meat. Another pet hate is the way tables are pre-booked at Wetherspoons now and empty round tables (the favourites) are left empty for 2 hours for a reserved booking whilst others have to sit on smaller tables, and could have had their meal within that 2 hour period. Ridiculous. No one asked if our meals were satisfactory either. Unfortunately I didn't take a photo of the meals.

I've visited the Regent a few time now. It's a good big wetherspoon pub with the normal great value and good food. Busy most of the time, but there's always a seat to be found.

Wetherspoons is a Wetherspoons. The beer is reasonably priced the food is reasonably priced the standard is reasonable the service is reasonable.

Staff very friendly but the food is terrible. Food came out cold, steak was like eating the sole of your shoe.... Suppose you get what you pay for...

Nice local pub, usual standard of whetherspoons food and drink good range of drinks from beers to spirits food is ok, good choice. no brilliant but stops you being hungry and at a reasonable price. visit there often

My daughter wanted a booth but all were taken so we had breakfast in the manner area BIG MISTAKE! look I've done Blackpool where of course I would take my daughter as drybjebs gangs etc frequenting 4 cheap hangover cure etc but kirkby in ashfield.

Had my best friend's birthday meal here and the Regent did a fantastic job of making her night as special as possible, especially when managing 20 people around a table isn't the easiest job in the world! The food on all sides seemed to get a unanimous thumbs-up and my BBQ chicken pizza was absolutely divine! Though it isn't obviously the cheapest place in the world, picking up a decent sized pizza for just over £6 seemed like a pretty good deal to me, and the quality of food made it truly feel worth it! Staff were attentive, but also rather casual and did make a fuss of my mate on her birthday -which was really nice. Overall, we had a great night! Lovely Spoons, and unmissable in Kirkby.

The regent at Kirkby In Ashfield in my opinion is starting to look a bit grubby , dirty carpets , dirty seats etc and is only surpassed by The Picture House at Sutton in ashfield , come on spoons start putting some money back into the places !

In light of their lack of desirable menu items, I expected a gracious response from the waitress, and apologies. Instead, we were greeted rudely and harshly, with the waitress almost insinuating it was our fault. Therefore, I will be rating it a one star, and expecting a full refund.

Waiting 25 minutes for a drink on a Tuesday is a little bit of a joke. Ended up ordering on the app as the bar was understaffed and the staff working couldn't manage the 7-10 people waiting.

We visited this for a quick lunch and were pleasantly surprised.

Visited here on a Monday morning, not too busy and found a table straight away. The breakfast prices are cheap and for an extra 50p you can have a refillable tea or coffee with it! The coffee machine was really easy to use and the latte was nice too, definitely worth the money.

If you want a cheap meal and drink, Wetherspoons The Regent is the place to go. Most of the food is pretty good but I would not recommend their steaks. Cheap price, cheap cut. Service is usually done pretty quickly.

Food is ok quality and affordably priced. Never going to be Michelin starred quality but if you want an honest feed at a decent price, you can't really go wrong here. Pay on the app and you don't even have to queue at the bar!

If your'e eating at a Wetherspoons, you can't expect your food to be of michellin standard, however, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. The service is good (the bar does get quite busy, so you may find it quicker to use the app) and there are plenty of vegetarian options so I had a lot to choose from. I was perfectly happy with my meal here, and I'm sure I will come again!

Just recently they cannot get it right, cold breakfast again, there are places in Kirkby that charge the same and it's warm so will be going there instead

Popped in as they were promoting haggis as part of burns week and as a Scot and the end of the working week I thought why not. NO haggis NO Scottish burgers. Why why advertise food when you know you don’t have it and to say I’m disappointed especially after steak night cancelled I’m wondering what is going on. Won’t be coming back in a hurry which is a shame but poor management has spoiled my experience beyond salvage

This is my normal local and normally I'm very satisfied however on this one occasion the bar staff tab hanged on a conversation then decided I was too loud to be served may I add here I am half deaf in one ear which I explained I was then aloud 1 more drink then was told no more and my friends would get I trouble for buying me drinks I am sending this from the regent clearly drunk !!!!!!!

Typical Wetherspoons nicely decorated and nice food at a great price !breakfast are always good. Probably best placed in Kirkby

Visited this morning as I thought I’d give you a second chance as “it’s cheap and cheerful” well I’m still looking for the cheerful part.. staff don’t smile and look like they don’t own an iron.. wearing a shirt untucked, really unprofessional and un-ironed.. food was diabolical when asked to have well done bacon on breakfast and it looks like it’s been on the grill for 20 seconds, when I asked a member of staff about getting my bacon changed she looked at me gone out, so I just left it on the side... so once again I’ll be giving this wetherspoon a wide birth as from now on..

We have been here a few times and we cannot fault any of it. The meals are very good value, we never wait more than 15 mins and customer service is very good

Visited the Regent the other day and had their Friday fish and chips special followed by their treacle sponge. Service was very good and the food was more than adequate for the price. Free refills on coffee

We went on Tuesday steak night the meal was perfect as usual, there chef really does know how to cook steak, the sweet menu is very comprehensive. Super range of real ale. For a Wheatspoon pub it is well run no rif raf allowed in I think it should be upgraded to a restaurant. We like privacy so the small booths they have are perfect for us and I ring them to reserve a table.

I know Witherspoons are quite formulaic but this place felt different. Real ale from local brewers, kids drawings on the...

Meals are average but the price reflects this. Alcoholic drinks and beverage prices are low in comparison to other local pubs and restaurants. Waiters and bar persons are polite and friendly. Many of the tables need clearing or cleaning.

This is a standard Wetherspoon pub. Cheap Ale and food. Great value for money. Clean and tidy. Good service. Can't complain at the price.

Breakfast yesterday. Lovely staff (Adam served us) My hubby, son and daughter had large breakfasts and I had the salmon and cream cheese bagel. All very tasty and filling. We all had drinks, and this came to just over £20. Great value, good food.

Just dropped in on the off chance pleasantly surprised a good value meal wide selection of guest Ales, meal was very good value for money.My only moan is when smokers go out for a cigarette they should have tables near each other as sitting eating your meal with someone keep going out the smell comes back in & clings to there clothes

Took my husband and some friends for his birthday. Food was excellent. Steak was cooked just as we like it, and was very tender. Chocolate fudge cake dessert was just to die for. Staff were smiling and friendly despite being rushed off their feet.

We popped in here for some quick lunch, we'd been in when it very first opened and was impressed but I must say we really enjoyed it, our young girls had the kids menu, chicken nuggets and chips with a drink, we had a burger and chips, was really tasty, I had a large rose and my husband had a pint of Guinness, we were shocked when we got the bill, it was so cheap really good value for money and will defo return

Passing through the area on Saturday morning and decided to stop for breakfast, the venue is very large with plenty of seats. I do agree with other reviews the tables are grubby and the curved booths a little tired. Apart from that the service was quick and friendly and the breakfast excellent value for money. Would stop off for breakfast again if ever in the area.

Came here for a cheap lunch with other half, the food was great value for money, the staff however were very rude and arrogant and made us feel extremely uncomfortable would definitely not be going there again.

Have been going to the REGENT Wetherspoons since it first opened in Kirkby-in-Ashfield a few years ago, when it first opened I was lucky enough to go to the opening night with a special invitation from the manager, It was lovely and thought it was going to be a good thing for our Town, but as all things it has been going slowly down hill, the particular night in question was Halloween 2016 my wife and I called in to have a meal at about 7.30pm there are a number of booths around 5 I believe we said we would go in one as they are a bit more private, as we looked at the booths they were all empty and the reason why was soon evident, there was food on the seats, on the floor under the table, dirty plates and glasses on the tables and menus with food stuck to them, we looked around for staff to ask them to clean them up but none could be found, only one bar staff at back of the bar, we looked around and there was only 20-25 people in so it's not as if they were rushed off there feet. Needless to say we didn't get a meal, but the biggest mistake I made was nipping to the mens loo before heading out, they were disgusting floors wet and the place smelling terrible, what a shame wont be bothering with that place or any other spoons again, wonder if it's the same in the kitchens OMG....DOESN'T BARE THINKING ABOUT.

There are a few places to eat in the area unless you want a takeaway or to drive into Mansfield so when I stumbled across this place I went it to try and wasn't disappointed. It's a converted cinema with approx 100 tables. The food was good, mixed grill, and the beer isn't expensive. They have themed nights; chicken on a Wednesday and a free drink. Good service and the place was jumping.

I eat breakfast 2 to 3 times a week and the food,the service and friendliness of all the staff is excellent. The cleaners do an excellent job leaving the environment spotless. All these factors indicate an extremely well managed place.

Wetherspoons have not always been welcomed, but the Regent in Kirkby in Ashfield is a great place to start the weekend of right! Great food and great value - they also know how to look after the beer as well!

Very cold miserable day at least it was nice & warm in the Regent. Lovely hot mug of coffee. Ordered fish chips mushy peas. The chips were great. The fish I don't know if it was under cooked or over cooked but I couldn't eat it & I couldn't even cut it. I ate the batter that wasn't bad. As another reviewer says you get what you pay for, but having said that I have had chicken & steak meals before @ a cheap price & have enjoyed them with no problems.

We were visiting Mansfield to watch a football game and chose this pub for lunch. We both had steak and kidney pudding and a pint and both the drink and food were really good with good service.

Went on Thursday night around 8 p.m. for Curry Night. Most of the empty tables had dirty dishes and used glasses piled up on them. There was spilt food on the floor. We found an empty table but the surface had obviously not been cleaned for quite a while.When our food was delivered no attempt was made to clean the table.What a pity. The food is good and so is the service but the scruffy appearance really puts you off.I have noticed the same thing on previous visits but it seems to be getting worse.Perhaps they need to employ more staff to keep on top of things!

You get what you pay for.... food is very standard. can't fault some staff however some of the girls who work here are very rude. me and my friends where waiting 15 mins for a drink order because we kept being line cut. after telling the young girl 3 times this was failed to be noticed.

We went on a Tuesday which just happened to be their stake night. After waiting at the bar for someone to finally serve me the meals came in reasonable time. Portions were ample and it all tasted and looked fine. However, the tables were grubby, the cutlery dirty and needed self cleaning. Overall if you want cheap and cheerful this is the place. But if quality is wanted then this is not for you.

I visited the regent with my partner for the tuesday 'steak night'. The food was cooked to perfection and presented well. The staff were friendly and obliging and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Think we will make this a regular weekly visit.

Typical Wetherspoons pub. Sunday breakfast has become our habit ! Really nice staff, good service and usually immaculately clean. Parking across the road at Morrisons as there are only 3 spaces outside. Pity there's no outside space but the building makes up for it.

Lovely dinner for 4 and just £36. Order drinks and food at bar. Take drinks back to table and food will be served to you. Varied choice of menu, lovely tasting food. Had steak, scampi, salmon and 3chickens dish. Second visit and will definitely be back again.

Good clean pub and the staff friendly and a big thankyou to the manager who was more than happy to help with our needs.The food was excellent and cooked to perfection. Will definitely go back again

We have traveled all over the UK and visited many ot their Pubs but none are as good as the Regent we now visit this pub at least twice a month. The last visit in July we took a French student out for dinner he was also very inpressed. One othe visitor was Muslim she had no problem with fish dishes and salads.

The pub looked lovely and was quite busy, we soon found a couple of tables to put together as 7 of us were eating. We ordered at the bar and the barman was friendly and helpful and told us about all the deals which 4 of us elected for fish and chips and I had the 14oz Angus rump steak which was a perfect medium rare first time ever from a wetherspoons only let down was the very soggy mushroom. We had a check back but the women came and went so quick I didn't get a chance to ask for more drinks. It was good value and served it's purpose however, just didn't have much special. I would go again

After a mix up with a booking for a table for 10 ( which no member of staff admitted taking) the duty manager took really good care of us including ringing other wetherspoons to make sure our reservation hadn't been taken elsewhere. It was my father in laws birthday celebration and the evening was salvaged. The food was on time, hot and value for money. Good save.

We visit the Regent often and it is always great food and value for money the staff are always helpful

We go most Sundays for breakfast with family, good value and nicely cooked! then in later for a drink, ham chips and egg, banging!! staff always lovely and friendly, some comments about the food left under the tables is true, but surely it is down to the people who dropped it there, to pick it up? When we go away we will call in a wetherspoons as know the score, Always nice calling in.

The people who work here let this pub down ALOT ! It's always a mess the tables are always dirty the floor is disgusting every time you walk in you take a deep breath because every table you look at is dirty the staff are never any were to be seen but gabbing , the man and women who run it might as well not be there well the man does serve but the women just stands talking she is very rude and up her self and I think if she spent less time talking and more time making her pub look clean presentable trade might pick up !! Sort you're selfs out because you're letting a lovely building go down hill fast !!!

My husband and I have had really nice meals here, good breakfasts, steaks, curries and fish. We have always found the staff to be attentive even when they are under pressure. Always a good selection of ales, wine, cocktails,soft drinks and lovely coffee.

Visited for a family 18th lunch. Food came quickly and was hot and tasty. Efficient service, pub full but room felt spacious and not noisy. Clean, pleasant surroundings and toilets well serviced.

First of all, it's a wetherspoons, so don't expect too much.In actual fact it's (by far) the best pub in Kirkby and certainly far better than the offerings in Sutton & Hucknall.Some of the food offerings are better quality than what you'd find at the overpriced Hutt & Larch Farm and the value is excellent by comparison.Lovely quiet table in the corner by the front too is where we usually choose to eat.By night the pub is thriving and has certainly made good use of the building which prior to this was neglected.Overall the general standard of food is satisfactory, service is good and value is very good.

Reserved a table for rog's 50th for him and family guest. Food came quick to say it was a busy Saturday night. Food was lovely and service was good..just a shame we had to leave at 9 pm because we had one child and the lady bouncer said it in a lovely (not) manner..nice food and good service.

Went at lunchtime with the wife, I had the gammon and she had the pie and neither of us could complain about the food and drink(the theakstons mild is beautiful). The staff were all very friendly. We chose a table in the window which was bright and cheerful however further into the pub it was dark and dismal and the table were not being cleaned as quick as they probably should.

Good for everything. Love the guest sales they have. Always a different selection every month. Foods great, always eat when I go in.

Tried 5 times in 3 days to book a table for a special occasion and every time I was asked to phone back because they were too busy. None of people I spoke could be bothered. I dont understand where the problem is to make a 2 minute reservation.

This is a JD Wetherspoons pub so you know exactly what to expect, having said that the food is good, and the service is good. It can get very busy between 5pm & 6pm so you might have a bit of a wait, have a drink and chill

I went on a friday night for fish and chips. The bar staff were polite and helpful, there is a real fire producing a warm homely atmosphere.There are several seats and you can also reserve tables.The toilets were clean and hygienic.

I have been to the Regent multiple times over the last few years. The food is reasonable (a bit more garnish on the burgers would be nice- they feel a bit flat) considering it was a busy Saturday night. One lady at one table got upset with some folk on two other tables that she seemed to know and smashed a glass and a bottle. The staff were very slow to intervene. One young server said to me "It makes my job more interesting" which I thought lacked all compassion. It's good value, easily the best pub in the centre of Kirkby.

When this place first opened i was sceptical about it. As it happens I'm very open minded and i like this place. Ive dined here a few times and had a few drinks in the evening. The food here is fairly good and the prices are well matched. As with most Wetherspoon establishments it has a good range of drinks available. The room/bar is huge without music which gives it a good chatting ambience (it gives me the impression of what the Moulin Rouge must have been like in its heyday, obviouly without the CanCan girls and the rooms at the back.!!) The overall impression i get that it is well run and i hope it remains so.

Great value especially for the steak nights in fact it's so good we go there every Tuesday evening with friends.

The food is delicious, the drinks are cheap, the staff are friendly all though sometimes slow. It is one of the best and well kept bars in the area and is worth a visit.

Great well cooked food, decent prices and a real family atmosphere. Very clean and tidy. Best place for Steak night by far! Best wetherspoons in the area.

This is your typical Wetherspoons, very cheap food and drink. The décor is to a very good standard, the staff are friendly enough and the food and drink is very cheap. Some of the food is a bit too cheap and not good quality but if you are careful what you order then you can get excellent value for money. Well worth a visit.
