The Refinery in Rushcliffe

Have passed The Refinery on a regular basis but never been. What a lovely place! Cocktails, tapas and wine. Food was excellent. Recommend the pulled chicken tacos and lamb meatballs. Staff were attentive and quick to deliver orders. When it got busy, the noise did echo around the restaurant, which meant it was tricky to hear conversation. Would certainly go again.

A group booking for a birthday celebration, this could have been tricky, but worked out very well. Bar was speedy and very nice drinks. Pre-ordered food arrived on time, was well presented and delicious. Staff lovely - attentive and efficient. A very pleasant time had all round. Many varied choices on the menu which I'd like to try; just a shame we live in London and only visited Nottingham for the birthday gathering.

We booked a table for seven on Sunday and had a great roast dinner. Excellent portion sizes, good value and great service. Highly recommended.

Came here for lunch as a foursome. The service was reasonably good, efficient and friendly. Atmosphere nice and relaxed. The food was just average. The cornflake chicken was over done and the portion sizes seem to have reduced a little since we last came. Its quite expensive for the food and drink here, especially when portion sizes seem a little smaller.

Quite simply the worst restaurant food I’ve eaten in a long time. Had the Sunday menu, the starters were really bad. The Sunday lunch wasn’t any better. The beef was awful, couldn’t eat it. I just think the food was not good quality at all. Unfortunately will not be visiting again.

Great afternoon with a late bottomless brunch. Very nice food and the alcohol was frequently topped up. Extremely friendly staff , ‘Bish’ had to mention particularly very professional and friendly , highly recommend.

Went for the Bottomless Tapas evening. From arrival we were greeted and our table was already preset with olives and dip, with fresh bread (focaccia etc) served within minutes, really good. We then ordered from the wide range of available dishes (c12-15 from memory) and the food arrived soon after. It was good as it arrived as tapas should, when each dish is ready. The calamari, chorizo and Lamb Kofte were my favourites but all the dishes were excellent. The drinks were lovely, I had beer (they serve a fantastic local IPA on draft) and wine (from an extensive list) with the food. Soon the live acoustic music began who were clearly a well experienced duo. The music was a nice added bonus up the evening. It wasn’t too intrusive, ie. you could still chat away. We didn’t have room for desert as we had reordered our favourite dishes again! A great night and have booked in for the next one in September.

We loved the atmosphere, decor and all the staff we met were first rate. Sadly the meal didn’t match that. The cornflake chicken was overdone and dry, everyone’s chips were far too salted and one of the two burgers was also overdone. That said it didn’t put us off from coming again in case it was an off night food wise as overall the atmosphere was really convivial

2nd time we have visited 1st tins last summer for breakfast before the test match , last night we took our 2 Australian relations before the Forest match and it was superb from service to food served

Nice staff and I really want to be positive but each time I v visited there have been basic faults. Why serve cake on a napkin covered in sieved icing sugar? Fork also showered in sugar. Cake and coffee deal but no choice of cake ! My husband is gluten free - no option ! Flat white good but served in a glass with no handle - coffee is hot ! Teapot lid fell off ! The actual coffee and cake were nice but come on , get the basics right .

We have just visited the Refinery and really enjoyed the poached haddock, bavette steak and chicken burger from the new menu. All delicious and great service too.

Food delicious, service rude! We were made to feel like a huge inconvenience. Firstly, the food really was delicious and the environment was clean, calm and a nice option for lunch. Sadly, those are all the positives. We were served by two people, one of which seemed hugely annoyed by the fact we had prams and babies with us and the other who had no patience for us working out the bill. One lady said, “I thought you said there were less pushchairs than this?” We had booked for 8 ladies and 8 babies. Two cancelled in our group this morning and we called to let them know. We ended up with 3 prams and 6 babies. I was feeding my son, wrestling with my purse and trying to work out the amount I needed to pay when he said, “why don’t you just actually work it out and then I’ll come back,” and walked off. There were maybe 3 other tables in and he was definitely not in a rush. If you can’t accommodate babies, families or pushchairs then say and we’ll find somewhere else. I’ll return for food because it was so good but I won’t feel welcome there with my son or our antenatal group again.

Average food but overpriced even with the January discount deal. Burger lacked any depth of flavour and Parmesan fries were very salty. I have been for coffee before and it’s a lovely place with great staff just a pity the food is not up to expectations.

I had one of the best Christmas meals that I can remember. Prawn Cocktail, Turkey and pigs in blankets and the most generous cheese board. Fair play and really appreciated at a time of year that you often expect sub-standard food.

Too few staff running around trying to do a good job under impossible circumstances. High priced food with very limited choice, average quality at best. Sadly reflects badly on the rest on the group which generally holds itself to a higher standard.
