Lovely place with stunning views and hosted by Jonathan and Fran who are the most welcoming people. Bed and breakfast for one night only but we felt like we were visiting close family. We would highly recommend a stay here.

Spent a lovely evening with my partner and friends here on 27th October...We could've stayed here all night, but had a wedding to go to. The accommodation was lovely, quaint, warm and cosy. Bar area and selection of wines and beer first class. Our room was great, comfortable bed and gorgeous views. Hosts Fran and Jonathan 10/10...many thanks 😊

Lovely little find! We’re a family of 4 and visited Red Pump Inn for 1 night for our first family glamping experience. We stayed in one of the yurts (Hodder) and it was wonderful! Lovely, super comfortable double bed along with with 2 singles for the kids. Even with all of the beds the yurt was still spacious and lovely and warm. We loved it! We ate from the supper menu in the pub in the evening which was again spot on - the Guinness cake was unreal!! The pub is lovely and homely and the hosts are brilliant - Super attentive and friendly without being overbearing. They work so hard but seem completely chilled. Special mention to the cutest little resident - Barra (or Barrow) the westie ❤️ - so gorgeous…. Our kids were in love! Breakfast is also good with lots of choice and again - brilliant service. All in all we’d highly recommend this place and will definitely return, maybe to try the shepherds huts which looked wonderful too! Thanks Fran and Jonathan for a fabulous stay x

We had a lovely pint of Pendle before enjoying the local walk promoted through the Ribble Valley Walks with Taste . And then another pint and soft drink afterwards. If I hadn’t had to drive we would have tarried longer even though there was a local birthday celebration going on - everyone was so welcoming. We booked a steak meal for later in the week . Chose the 50day dry aged rib and did not regret! The starters were so tempting we indulged in those too. Hubby had Black pudding Bon Bons and lemon mayo, I had the salmon mousse even though it always reminds me of Monty Python. Both were delicious but as usual his choice was better than mine. Will definitely return when we are on the area.

I was told that the food was good so I made a dinner booking with high expectations. Arrived earlier than our booking for drinks and was greeted by a non-chalant bar person who coughed constantly while handling the glasses so not the best start! When we were taken to our table the waitress wasn't particularly friendly but we were still expecting great things from the food. I ordered steak medium done but it arrived rare and tough so I asked for it to be cooked longer. It came back charcoaled on outside and still rare in centre. I ate what I could and discarded the rest. Quickly asked for bill only to find additions to it which we didn't order so I would recommend checking your bill before payment! All in all not a pleasant dining experience so won't be returning

Been here on numerous occasions and never fails to disappoint. Live about 1hr10m drive away. Decided to come for a drive through the countryside and have Sunday lunch. I had black pudding bon bons with curry aoli to start and my partner had cauliflower and chick pea soup to start. Sceptical about the combo but it was lovely and warming. We both had the chicken roast dinner which was a chicken supreme and really nice veg. (only picky thing was that there was no stuffing). But again lovely. For pud I had apple, rhubarb and ginger crumble with custard (or creme anglaise if you want to be posh) and my partner had cheesecake of the day which was chocolate and cherry. Every single plate was clean when collected. All washed down with a couple of pints of copper dragon. We've said we'll stay over one night but it's always booked up when we get the chance but we'll keep trying

Lovely relaxed atmosphere for Sunday lunch and excellent service. 3-course lunch £24 - 4 choices of main, - our party of 4 had the 3 meat options, all of which were delicious and served promptly and warm. Starters slightly less good choices - desserts excellent. Minor disappointment in the choice of wines - the cheapest red was £24 which seems somewhat excessive - would have expected a decent Merlot at around £20. This is our third visit for Sunday lunch - we note that the price has increased since last year - but nevertheless, a pleasant experience.

Having used this restaurant many times we were surprised to experience the poor levels of customer service on our latest visit. On previous trips the front of house was always congenial and efficient but how standards have dropped. Rarely have I seen such a chaotic and amateur service. The staff appear to have no direction or guidance and there is a definite need for some training if the Red Pump is to maintain its reputation. The real shame is that the kitchen are still preparing food of a high standard and are being let down by slack service in the restaurant.

A lovely place to stay, comfortable rooms and a very warm welcome. We picked to stay here because the website said they had a gluten free menu. Unfortunately although the menu said gluten free was indicated there was nothing marked as gluten free. However they were able to provide a gluten free main course but when we asked about dessert the only option was vegan vanilla and chocolate ice cream. We were not the only people staying that needed a gluten free diet for medical reasons and it did make what would have been a perfect stay slightly not quite meet our expectations.

Beautiful food and staff very attentive. Pigeon breast starters for two of us., never had before put really tasty with the beetroot jus. My uncle had the Squid, which he claim was the best he had. My lovely wife had roasted parsnip soup. Mains, fillet for me with a lovely chimichurri sauce. My uncle had the ribeye, same sauce. Steak were really nice and tender. Beautifully cooked and equally helped along there way with a nicely chosen bottle of Melbec. My lovely wife had the chicken Caesar salad, which not only look delicious, but I’m told was delicious. Puds, well delightful.. dark chocolate something with cherries.. really nice. Great evening and a heavy(ish) bill. We have decided we will defiantly go again.

Appalling garlic flatbread starter which tasted like you imagine wallpaper might be with only a hint of garlic. Poor start. Average roast beef with too much veg which made the plate overcrowded. Puddings messed up which led to us being upset by a mildly aggressive and unhelpful manageress. Not good. Also the toilet paper was inaccessible in the disabled toilet. Six of us went to the Red pump for Sunday dinner. We knew last orders were 5.30 so arrived in plenty of time . We all had rib-eye steaks, they came with lovely chunky chips and a very small helping of rocket ( would have liked more "salad", not ridiculous when you're paying way over £20). I feel compelled to write this following a very unpleasant experience here for Mother’s Day. We reserved a table for 5.30 for our family and young baby, having eaten here before and been very impressed by the food and friendly service, however this couldn’t of been more opposite to the service we experienced on this special family day. We called the restaurant to say we were running late due to the baby and would this be an issue, we were reassured it was no problem at all and they looked forward to seeing us when we arrived. We then noticed on the website that it stated they only served food until 5.30, which was odd as this hadn’t been mentioned when we booked our table for this time. I quickly called back and checked and told the gentleman it may be more 6pm when we arrived and would this be ok and was told again it was absolutely no problem so not to worry. HOWEVER, when we arrived we walked in the pub to an extremely frosty reception from the staff. We apologised again for running late and at this point the lady owner came over stating in a very rude manner that our table was 5.30, I calmly explained we had called up twice and was assured it was ok, and she responded with ‘well il have to speak to the kitchen they’ve been working for 7 hours’, before walking off and muttering something under her breath about how our excuse didn’t matter to her. At this point we felt completely unwelcome here and didn’t want to spend our Mothering Sunday in a place where we had been treated so rudely so we let the barman know it was fine and that we would be leaving. As we turned to leave a gentleman sat in the corner with a small group, drinking a bottle of Prosecco shouted over to us that we can’t expect to turn up half an hour late, so I again explained we had called the restaurant and had been told it was no problem, he proceeded to argue with me in quite an agressive and intimidating manor and I can only assume he was the owners partner due to the similar accent. I completely understand that they had every right to turn us away after arriving late to our table and if the kitchen was closed, we were not expecting any special treatment. However what I don’t expect is to be spoken to in such a rude manor and unfortunately this has resulted in us now never wanting to return to this restaurant. It’s very concerning that the owners of a pub can appear so friendly in one visit and the exact oposite the next when we had done nothing but apologise, it almost makes you believe the friendly attitude was completely faked. The last time we visited we were surprised at why the restaurant was not busy as the food was so lovely, I now understand why. Thank you for ruining our mother’s day.

We visited the Red Pump Inn having had it recommended and we were not disappointed. A really warm friendly greeting awaits as you enter and the owner Fran was quickly over to introduce herself , the Pub has undergone a refurb and it is very clean with a nice feel to it. There is young steam in place but they were obviously well trained they were pleasant polite and attentive plus they were all smartly dressed, a real refreshing change smart staff and excellent customer service. They were never seen stood about talking or idling they all knew their responsabilities. Fran takes all the main course orders which is a real must for me and she is very much on the ball with evreything going on in that dining area. We tried the sharing steak and it was really tasty, we had it medium to rare and it was cooked just right. It came with salad and homecooked chips. The Restuarant area was full and all the food that came out looked very appetising with several very good comments overheard from the tables around us. The bar area is warm and the locals friendly. The bar has several beers to choose from and we had a Carmenere red wine which really complimented our meal. There is a plenty of choice for white, red or rose wine.I want to return and try the ribeye next. An excellent dining experience and ambience, well done to Fran and the team we will be back.

We had visited the Red Pump in the summer as previously reported and my mother in law offered to take the family out as a November birthday treat for me! How splendid! We had booked a table in the main dining room and I was immediately impressed with its homely feel and decor. We were shown to the table promptly and I had barely sat down before a welcome birthday pint was nestling in my hand. Starters and main courses efficiently taken by attentive staff and the starters arrived within 10/15mins of ordering- pretty prompt! black and white pudding fritters, some humous and flat bread, creamy garlic mushrooms all delicious and no complaints! A simple main course order for the chef 5 x sunday beef roast! Again service attentive and food delivered promptly to the table and on the whole delicious - the beef was a little on the fatty side and not rare as I had requested and personally I would have wanted another slice of beef if my youngest daughter had not been slightly over faced. I didn't have a pudding I was quite content with a coffee but the puds did look great and none were left so speaks volumes. Great value for money, great service and on the whole great food! With asuch a generous mother in law what more could you ask for!

Tried this place as I’d heard good things and hoped for a really nice lunch as it was a good hour or more drive to get there. The menu looked slightly shorter (I’m guessing due to Sunday lunch?) than what I’d seen on line. I opted for roast beef dinner plus a side order (actually down as starter / nibbles) of black pudding fritters. My better half went for the fish pie. I was give me the choice of ‘pink’ (which I opted for) or well done beef however I got neither to There was a very small area of one of the two slices that was what id consider punk the balance was well done. Shame really as it was tasty. It was served with Yorkshire pud which was ok along with mash spuds carrot mash, roast potatoes and a extremely small spoonful of greens. It was also covered in gravy, which although I love gravy I prefer to have on the side. The meal was just good, not terrible just good but certainly not wow! It wasn’t the warmest either. Unfortunately my wife’s fish pie was even worse, the potatoes covered in cheese and the filling tasteless / bland and at £14 without a single side accompaniment very disappointing. My side dish of black pudding fritters weren’t great fairly tasteless again accompanied by a mayonnaise which has a skin forming atop it. The place itself hasn’t a great outdoor eating area, (basically overlooking the car park) stones area full of old dog end cigarettes which considering they accept dogs was again disappointing.

Having always wanted to take a walk around the Forest of Bowland we found this place and booked in for the night.Arriving at 6 after a long walk the 2 of us settled in to a lovely comfortable bedroom (De Lacy) with a huge shower in the bathroom and all the usual bits and bobs you could want.Dinner was outstanding - simple stuff like grilled Moroccan chicken and cous cous and fancier dishes like salmon home cured in gin were all notably excellent and all the staff were cheerful and helpful.Had a quick chat with the owner as we checked out after a cracking breakfast and she seems to be justifiably proud of this great place. Will be back!

I visited yesterday with family and from the start the staff were welcoming and friendly. There was nothing marked vegan on the menu so asked what was, I was informed I could have a platter without the normal focaccia as it had honey, I was advised against the pasta as it had egg, to me this small thing showed they knew what they were talking about so felt good about ordering an adapted platter. I was not disappointed, especially as the chef had whipped up some delicious tempura vegetables too. Great place. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that the item wasn't actually on the menu. I look forward to returning when I'm in the area again.

Popped in today to pick up a voucher for a friend birthday so decided to stop and have spot of Lunch at The Red Pump, we both settled on the Ginger pig burgers with a side of chips and onion rings these take burgers up a few notches ,Thick, juicy and succulent totally scrummy. Washed down with a couple of coffee's it made a rather miserable wet Wednesday a whole lot brighter. Many thanks for a lovely lunch .

Went for a belated birthday dinner so didn't mind the potential higher prices.... Which in the end this place doesn't have in comparison to similar local places. Choose the ham hock starter and though different was just moreish. The Argentinian steak however was amazing amazing amazing and I eat steaks all over the world. Right now I don't usually get desert if I get starter but had a go at the cheesecake with no expectations.... And coming with like ac fruit compote thing in top I was ready to just nibble around it. Thing is, this tasted pretty Dam good too especially the sorbet. In the end genuinely couldn't complain at all. Friend had short rib which was yummy based on the bit swapped over, she also nearly melted eating my steak.

We visited here with friends on Easter Saturday this year. And am I glad we did! They were holding a bit of a folk festival in a teepee in the field and it was superb. The head chef Tom was manning the barbeque, and it's safe to say this was the best barbeque food I have EVER had the pleasure of eating. Tom's selection of home made sides were phenomenal, especially his ras el hanout yoghurt. The burgers were the highest quality possible, the spiced vegetable kebabs were excellent, and the slow cooked chicken was to die for. He was MORE than happy to chat to all the customers- one of the friendlier chefs I've met! The selection of beers in the teepee was excellent. Although I didn't eat in the inn itself, I did have a look and it would be a wonderful environment in which to enjoy a meal. That combined with Tom's cooking is a winning combo.

Fran, lady proprietor and the young woman serving were charming and friendly. We were ushered into a cosy and warm section of the pub with an open fire. Main courses seem a bit expensive given the relative size of the portions.Fish pie tasty. Game roll tasty but small; came with some grated kale or cabbage and a sauce, plus some very good chips. The soup and a roll seemed a little on the dainty side: a small cup and half a small bun with a little smoked salmon and three prawns. (The recipient had admitted to a small appetite but not not quite that small!)

We'd planned to visit the Inn at Whitewell for lunch and on arrival discovered it was packed with wedding guests. Made a quick departure and on the way back to Clitheroe found this little gem of a pub. We were made very welcome and were quickly seated at a comfortable table. Our lunch was delicious with lots of choice and very reasonably priced. Lovely friendly atmosphere we can definitely recommend.

Happened across this delightful eatery on a drive around the sunny lanes of Lancashire and boy has it changed since my last visit in the 80's. The menu was just about right with a great choice pf light bites or mains. Due to medication I had fish and chips yet again but the steak and ale pudding has my name on it for next time. The fish was just fabulous.A fellow diner had it and couldn't stop saying how delicious it was. My wife had the Irish stew, a rare menu dish these days and loved it. The staff couldn't do enough for us and were very pleasant without being in your face. Being a dog friendly pub topped it off with only the restaurant being the only room they aren't aloud in but that's ever so fair by me

Went last night for a friends birthday and we had a great time. Fran and Jonathan are great hosts, the surroundings are cosy. The chef made our birthday boy a chocolate cake which was gorgeous and a nice touch. Food was good and had some really good wines.

Had the team/office party at the Red Pump last night, two of the team stopped over as well. Yet again Fran and the staff produced a first class evening. The food can't be faulted, I had the steak (rare) and it was perfect, Malbec Red to wash it down and all in all a great meal. Highly recommended.

Went for lunch with my mum in November. It's a lovely restaurant and you don't feel rushed. Mum had Fran's Irish Stew and I had the Fish and Chips. Everything was delicious and we couldn't fault a thing. The staff are really pleasant, and nothing is too much trouble for them. Thanks to Fran and her team. We'll be back.

We arrived to a friendly welcome on Saturday evening. Service was relaxed and pleasant. We all had steak varying from fillet to prime rib. All cooked to perfection with tasty sides and sauces. Desserts were equally good. Extensive wine list. Will definitely return and recommend to others. Thank you for a lovely evening!

Had a lovely meal last week at this restaurant. The food was amazing. Dog friendly which we love after a long walk. Only down side was no kids menu but they did offer to do a small portion of anything on the main menu

We visited as a family of five.. ordered garlic flatbreads which were ok.. not much taste.. pate to share with only one very small slice of toasted bread.. what we had was nice just not very much even as a starter for £8.95 overpriced! Then ordered 4 fillet steaks.. those were a let down. All cooked wrong to what we ordered each fillet charged at £24 (SERVED WITH JUST CHIPS AND A TINY SALAD GARNISH) very poor that you have to order veg separate at a extra cost of £5 per portion!!! Desserts were the best part. All ok Overall pub food served at a five star price.. also a dog was allowed to wander round while everyone was eating.. i was told its the owners and they allow this.. mmmmm wont be returning.

15th October. What a beautiful place the Ribble Valley is and the location of this hotel. The rooms were well furnished and clean and the staff very friendly.Because it was a birthday treat we decided to try the rib of beef, delicious it was too.To be honest for £35 we didn't think it was value, as in portion sizes. We wouldnt normally spend that amount of money on a pub meal. The quality was very good.We will soon be returning to this location as we have fallen in love with it, may rent a cottage next time.

This was our first visit to the Red Pump and it won't be our last. The feel of the place is welcoming and the staff very friendly indeed. The owner has a very much hands on role and manages the restaurant to perfection without making it feel clinical. There wasn't one thing we thought could have been done better or improved upon.As well as the local ales there is a good selection of wines to compliment all the menu options. The food is well presented, hot and exceptionally tasty. There were 15 of us in our group with everything coming out together which given that the restaurant was already busy was a feat in itself. If you want excellent food in a welcoming place, the Red Pump Inn is the place for you.

Meet some friends here who had been before and it was excellent. Starters and steak were very tasty and cooked exactly how we liked them. The special was monkfish which again was lovely. Staff and owners really helpful and the glamping yearts sounded great fun- think we will book in next year for the weekend. They also have rooms now that looked very well done. Well worth a visit to this special steak venue and will definitely be back!

We started and finished this lovely relaxed evening with Gosset Champagne (from the oldest champagne house) The food was so tasty and it was faultless. We were advised on each wine by the Louis Latour lady. All for £55 including £10 donation to the charity. This fundraising event for air ambulance was such a good night and raised money too!!

Decided to try the Red Pump for Sunday lunch after reading such good reviews. The menu was disappointing with very limited choice. I ordered the roast beef and although there was plenty it was tasteless. My partner had the burger which was overcooked and dry. We didn't order desserts - just paid and left. We won't be returning.

We sometimes visit Clitheroe midweek during the day. A pub crawl is the usual way to go, but this time, after the first pint we decided to have another. We stayed for six and on heading to the bus stop, we had only been to one pub. Why did we stay all afternoon? It was the friendliness of not just the staff, but the other customers all offering interesting content to a rolling discussion ranging from the beers to where each of us lived / grew up etc .... The barmaid (it was her first day) pulled a great pint too. In my experience of both pubs and people, this is rare. I nearly forgot to mention the prices. Cheaper than most places and two of the beers offered at just £3 a pint.

An excellent full English breakfast prepared with quality ingredients and prepared to perfection. A very friendly and professional staff team. The farm shop is a delight with an excellent range of products. The butchery and bakery departments are outstanding.

Best coffee shop in town maybe even Lancashire! I just love love this coffee shop not only does it have the best coffee and cakes, if you want lunch it’s has plenty of wonderful options to choose from. Plenty of vegan and gluten free options also. It’s has the most wonderful nooks and crannies to sit in and its Victorian decor is beautiful. The staff are always friendly and service fast. I have yet to find a coffee shop I love more.
