Traditional pub food. An excellent lunchtime dining experience with a wide choice of beers. All staff are friendly and polite. Shout out to Nicky and Andy, thanks. Couldn't do enough for you. Down-to-earth pub. Cheers! Just as good again today.

My wife and I love this family-run hostelry. Delicious home-cooked food with a wide choice of menu that’s accompanied by a daily “Specials” board. Christine and Chris with their worthy team of helpers can never do enough to delight their customers. The service provided is always very prompt and ALWAYS served with a smile. From within the delightful ambience of a traditional village inn, it’s service at its very best. Genuinely so. Well done all!

Love this place it’s amazing foods great staff are brilliant. The pub has six ale pumps on amazing, but unfortunately am a weekend drinker and all the good ale seem to be on during the week am honestly gutted all my mates drink during the week when the good stuff is on,wish this amazing pub would put good ale on at the weekend. If I was the landlord I’d put better beer on all the time Christopher my flower

It was your typical "village" pub, no airs and graces but you got what you expected. Good friendly service, decent food and extremely competitive prices. 3 of us got lunch and a drink each for £39 all in 🤷♀️ certainly nothing to grumble about. First visit for a while and wasn't disappointed. Lovely welcome and genuinely happy to see our dogs. Drinks ordered and we decided to have sandwiches as we don't eat as much at lunch time. The Boss had Ham on white with chips, I had Prawn with sauce on brown with salad. The sandwiches were excellent and a decent salad, not just a bit of lettuce. The Boss couldn't finish hers, much to our dogs delight. If you've not been, you really need to give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

The friendly and hard working staff improve the tired and rundown surroundings inside. I managed to get served at the bar this time, which also helped improve the visit. Good access from the street, no steps. This pub has lots of incredible potential to be the heart of the village.

A traditional pub set in the middle of Whalley. Easy access as no steps to enter. Tired and dated inside. When we visited the landlady was clearly in a bad mood as the pub was heaving with customers. She proceeded to shout and point a certain individuals through the queue of customers waiting to be served at the bar. One being my 29 year old friend whom she wanted to see ID. She then withheld the driving licence stating it was fake as the hologram wasn’t on the back? Despite all our efforts to politely point out that the hologram was on the front (as they are nowadays) she refused to serve us and several other customers due to the same hologram issue. Totally accept the policy to request ID but in doing the check get your facts right! You missed out on sales and in the process received a much deserved terrible rating. Would not return. Jacks, The Swan and Aviary are much friendly and when they check ID they know what to look for!

Today was my second visit to The Dog Inn for lunch, with a friend. We had a nice corner table and ordered from the Specials Board. We both opted for small servings of steak and potato pie, without the chips, one with carrots and peas, the other with carrots and leeks. Half a bitter shandy each cooled us down on a warm day. The staff was friendly and efficient, the food served hot, the plates were warm and there were no delays. We both cleared our plates with no trouble and we left feeling well satisfied. Prices are very competitive, also. We have been looking for somewhere to make "ours" on a regular basis and I think we have found it. Thank you to all concerned.

Bobbed in for lunch with the wife and mother in law. Nice quiet time but cash only due to internet issue. This was not a problem as the cash machine is just across the road. Drinks ordered and onto the food order. Bid boss ordered Fish and Chip, second boss ordered a Ham Sandwich with chips and I ordered a Prawn Sandwich with salad. Not long and food arrived. Fish and chips were great according to bigg boss. Ham sandwich had loads of ham, I was given chips instead of salad, but I was hungry so didn't bother. The amount of prawns on my sandwich was Hugh and we all agreed, the chips were some of the best we have ever had, nice and crispy and dry. Lovely lunch, thank you.

We sometimes visit Clitheroe midweek during the day. A pub crawl is the usual way to go, but this time, after the first pint we decided to have another. We stayed for six and on heading to the bus stop, we had only been to one pub. Why did we stay all afternoon? It was the friendliness of not just the staff, but the other customers all offering interesting content to a rolling discussion ranging from the beers to where each of us lived / grew up etc .... The barmaid (it was her first day) pulled a great pint too. In my experience of both pubs and people, this is rare. I nearly forgot to mention the prices. Cheaper than most places and two of the beers offered at just £3 a pint.

Best coffee shop in town maybe even Lancashire! I just love love this coffee shop not only does it have the best coffee and cakes, if you want lunch it’s has plenty of wonderful options to choose from. Plenty of vegan and gluten free options also. It’s has the most wonderful nooks and crannies to sit in and its Victorian decor is beautiful. The staff are always friendly and service fast. I have yet to find a coffee shop I love more.
