Black Bull Inn in Ribble Valley

Eaten here 8 or 9 times in the last 12 months. It usually excellent but the last two visits have been disappointing, cold and/ or overcooked and dry food having to be returned and long waits for it to arrive. Staff are lovely, apologies are made and issues get resolved but quality control appears to have suffered for some reason. Generally don’t have a problem having to wait a little longer for food as long as it’s right when it arrives. Will be back and hope we’ve just been unlucky as we know from past experiences it can be so much better.

Lovely meal, food was very tasty. Very accommodating and welcome to dogs which is a big plus. Felt slightly overpriced.

Very disappointed after having lovely meals here in the past. 14.50 for a glass of wine what the hell !! The food arrived - the iconic roast board. It was cold !! It took at least 10 minutes to catch the eye of staff to ask them to sort/replace. After this we were glared at all through the rest of our stay. Service terrible- do not waste your money go somewhere local to yourselves with atmosphere and friendliness- would not recommend

Six of us had lunch after a family service. Great menu of excellent dishes, well served Staff could not be more obliging. What a great and community orientated pub to live near!

A below average Sunday lunch that was made unpleasant by the hostile owner. The food took over an hour to arrive for our table of six. When it did, it was luke warm and there was little in the way of veg. The roast potatoes were hard and the lamb was tough and chewy. We asked for more gravy as there was very little on each plate. When the bill arrived we’d been charged £3.50 for this little pot of gravy and ditto for custard as we’d asked for more of that. They removed the extra charge for custard when we complained but refused for the gravy as they ‘don’t serve gravy it’s red wine jus’. The patronising tone was laughable if it wasn’t so rude and offensive to customers. This restaurant is definitely not offering fine dining and should consider both the quality of its food and its approach to customer service.

Visited after reading a review in local magazine when we were staying nearby a few weeks ago. We drove 50 mins and have to say it was worth the drive as it was fabulous! We had Sunday lunch for 2 which was stunning! The starter of scallops was probably the best I’d ever had… the meal was very good value, service was great too - we will be back!

My review is low because a young girl who was sat next to the bar doing her paper and working with a laptop kept smoking on her blue vape I had soup and a sandwich which was lovely, but my experience was spoiled because of young girl being totally disrespectful, she didn’t just puff it once it was quite a few times

Average for Sunday lunch.Lamb was stringy and had no taste. Very few vegetables & potatoes were rock hard & meal served cold after almost an hours wait after starters. Meal sent back.There are better proven options for a Sunday roast just up the road.Menu gives little choice anyway. Won't be back soon.Can't fault politeness of staff but all 8too little too late.

Food here is great but the service isn't the best, I have just been with my partner and child. We all ordered a Sunday lunch and a few drinks. We paid and left happy but after checking the receipt when I got home I noticed we was charged for 3, 2 course meals. My partner rang up to question this and we was told 'we don't offer a one course option which is why you was charged for 2 courses, this should have been explain to you at the start'. This wasn't explained, if it had we'd of ordered desserts too seen as we was already charged for them! They also forgot my sons chips and got our drinks order wrong even after clarifying it themselves. As I said at the start of the review, great food and the staff was lovely, just better communication and active listening perhaps.

we were seated in the fire barn area which can only be described as stunning, with stone walls and ancient old exposed beams enhanced with a log burner to heat the room. we consisted of two adults and 3 teenage lads , both adults ordered the Rib eye steaks chunky chips onion rings seasonal vegetables accompanied by prawn skewers. The lads ordered burgers. The whole meal was well presented & absolutely delicious. You must try the red wine “Dead man’s Dice”! We were looked after by the waitress Evie & Becka. I never write reviews but i was that impressed with the quality of the food and service at this gorgeous establishment, i just had to write this to give credit to all involved. Well done the Black Bull!

First visit to this Pub even though we live quite close, my partner is vegetarian and always feels like an after thought in many local pubs with regard to food. The Sunday menu here is slightly reduced from the weekly offerings but it's still plentiful. The Pub was busy at the time we arrived and the staff were very attentive showing us to our table even though we were early. The food we both chose was just excellent, can say any more than that. My partner, the 'Sceptical Vegetarian' now has a favorite pub so I am also very happy. A welcoming, well run Pub with fantastic staff serving food that sets the bar for others to follow in our opinion, can't wait to return.

Our first time for lunch here, and we were not disappointed. We had the Fish grazing board to share, all fresh and beautifully cooked and presented. The staff were very polite and attentive throughout, lovely place to enjoy a delicious lunch in relaxing surroundings. Highly recommended
