Went for lunch. Food was tasty and staff were friendly. Waiting staff were so friendly. Really sad to hear the place is closing, and the employees not being offered any alternative employment. Such a shame .

Great place to stop for a drink by the river

Unfortunately my friend and I had a very poor quality scampi and chios for £11.99 today. Chips were burnt and very small portions. Puzzled as other reviews here are good. We definitely didn't get value for money.

I highly recommend this stop if your are a tourist coming from abroad and looking for an authentic pub in town. It’s a big please to guarantee a place to seating, and open garden for a sunny day. The food is good, I have a chicken with salad and chips, their drink have good quality option for more decent price than in London. Just good time there and walking distance to the town main attractions.

Always welcomed with a friendly greeting. Staff are smiley and helpful while the food is delicious. Would be nice to have a view to look out on, but they can't move the restaurant unfortunately!

Just want to say a big thank you to the Red Lion who helped provide some shelter through the night to those affected by the fire in the early hours of the morning at the Crowne Plaza, was a credit to everyone whilst we waited for the fire brigade to put out the fire so a big thank you to those involved helping keep everyone warm and watered.

Very good good, generous portions and a lovely beer garden. Highly recommend the fish and chips, beautiful fish, light batter and not in the least bit greasy. Great chips. Very pleasant team. Definitely worth a visit.

As a party of 6. Service was good. Food came quickly. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Fish pie was a bit dry . Needed more sauce for it to be more creamer.

We didn't eat here, just called in late on Saturday afternoon for a drink. A warm welcome, by nice friendly atmosphere, definitely go there again.

Went for Sunday brunch and drinks. Menu is limited but the food is delicious as well as interesting drinks. Vast sitting area- both internal and external. Bonus for pet owners as it is pet friendly and has good space. All orders are prepaid but served at the table. Loved the chicken wings with peri peri sauce.

In the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon, lovely little place to meet friends and catch-up over a quiet drink.

Really poor service, despite best efforts and being polite I struggled to even get a smile from the lady behind the bar. Atmosphere was very cold and lifeless, beer choice is rubbish. I'd recommend to avoid 👍

As an allergy sufferer, eating here was a joy! The chicken tikka was perfect, the gammon was great. Good choice of drinks and the service was top notch

We didn't have a reservation and it was a Saturday lunch time when the Stratford street markets were on and the whole town was busier than normal but we were given a table for four we were served by John and he was absolutely brilliant and professional he sorted our drinks order and later returned to take our food order we opted to eat in the restaurant area away from the bar area and it was comfortable and really nice. John soon returned with our food and it was delicious. Will definitely return next time we are in town and a special thanks to John and the rest of the staff for a very enjoyable time.

Great Sunday lunch staff couldn’t have been more polite and helpful , food amazing and so were the cocktails also very great value for Money . We will definitely be returning.

I watched a gentleman get kicked out for something he never started, the crew was quick to be in support of someone who actually caused the argument worst service I've seen in a long time very unhappy with the manager on shift at that time not even seeing what events actually took place poor service from the crew

This is the second time we have been to Stratford upon Avon and this pub is fantastic staff are always very friendly and courteous nothing is too much and the food wow don't know why people complain about this place if I lived hear I would be eating hear every week

Great value serving decent pub classics. As a party of eight the service was excellent with drinks and meals arriving quickly. Great location in centre of Stratford and handy if staying at the Premier Inn across the road.

We ate lunch here today. My husband chose the steak and ale pie. Sloppy mashed potatoe, bullet hard peas, watery gravy and a very small "pie" arrived. I chose the fish pie and it was disgusting. Obviously microwaved within an inch of its life, and I found no fish, just several rubbery textured shrimps. No complaints about the service but the standard of food for the price, is the reason why people choose to eat at home these days. We will not return, and would simply say avoid.

The food was disgusting! The gravy like water! Rude waiter because I ordered a child’s meal because I can’t eat a lot of food at one time! No, I’m not 12yrs old! The lite bites more expensive albeit not by much! Will never come here again! Disgraceful behaviour, no matter what I’ve ordered, I’m still a paying customer & would expect to be treated as such!

Amazing !! Best food, service and atmosphere! Came here (Stratford..) for my birthday and we took a while walking around the town deciding where to eat and I am so glad I went with my first choice as the service at Red Lion was fantastic. Meals were delicious and both me and partner came away feeling very satisfied and thoroughly enjoyed our meals here. Absolutely top notch service from both Mark and Remy.They were very accommodating to our needs and would definitely come back here again! Thank you x

Nice staff but the food was awful. Almost a fiver for 'cheesy garlic bread' which was no more 2 small slices. The smallest Beef & Ale micro pie I've ever seen and so called 'skin on chips' which were no more than a few frozen skinny French fries shoved into a deep frier were a joke. There as a couple at 5pm on a quiet Tuesday, despite an almost deserted restaurant area the genius in charge showed the loudest 4 people on the planet to a table right next to us who then proceeded to drown us out completely. Assume this place gets business due to its location and from first time visitors to Stratford as surely locals and second time visitors wouldn't tolerate it again.

Good food, really good service and great prices for kids. Car park is a little small but no real issues in parking.

Pricey but nice location and lots of space

Booking a table is essential and can be done the night before. They have 2, 4, 6 or more seats if required. Table service was excellent staff friendly and helpful if you have any allergies or preferences to specific foods you can't eat. Very wide choice of food and drink on the menu. It's ideally situated by the river Avon and next to Shakespeare Theatre with a hotel opposite. Dining area is peaceful and pleasant. I can't rate this place any higher me and my partner are definitely coming back
