I chose the Red Lion randomly as a venue to meet friends halfway between both our homes and what a good choice it was! A warm welcome on a grey damp Tuesday and although the pub wasn’t busy, there was a very nice atmosphere created by the staff and a few jolly locals (?) at the bar! The food was great and the service was excellent.

Friendly, welcoming, great decor and atmosphere. Food was delicious but for us the portion sizes were too large, it was off-putting, we all left half of our main courses. We would have had a pud but we literally had no room, so can’t help feeling the restaurant could make the portion size smaller and more people would have 3 courses.

Due to our own circumstances it has been a little while since we have eaten at this amazing establishment. Wow, is all I can say. From start to finish just amazing. Fabulous hospitality from the wonderful team of Roger, Barney and Mary, et al. Then the food! Just the best. Perfectly prepared, fabulous quality produce which is presented and prepared so well. The chefs are brilliant and deserve a lot of praise. If you are looking for a great experience in all areas and fantastic value then this is the place. Can’t recommend this venue enough, just try it as you will not be disappointed.

Our favourite place to eat! We live in the village and eat here most months. Cannot fault the food, the service or the atmosphere. They are so attentive and we’ve never had a bad meal. The roast dinners are exceptional and I’m also a big fan of the chicken pie. We take our 2 young children with us and the staff are so good with them. They get extra sprinkles on their ice cream, which they just love!

Visited this pub before and enjoyed the roast so returned - the food is great. Service was fairly good- we had to remind waiters for table water, glasses and spoons, and had to ask for a desert menu thirty minutes after eating a main. We felt slightly disappointed that staff responded unprofessionally to our rescue dog when he became inquisitive at other dogs consistent barking and was met with ‘you will have to put your dog in the car.’ As we left, staff joked and made a barricade so it wouldn’t happen again This wasn’t necessary or appreciated and dampened our experience this time. The pub is just too small and was so very warm to have dogs at all tables - even though when I booked I asked if their was a more suitable dog spot.

This pub is superb with proper food cooked to a very high standard! Very polite owners who are keen for diners to have a great experience!, Best eating out experience for a very long time! We are fed up with overpriced rubbish sold under the heading “gastro-pub”. - tonight was an exceptional experience with all four of our party praising the delightful dishes! I don’t say “excellent “ lightly as there are usually some issues with a three course meal BUT this pub is special! Not cheap but worth it! Please do give it a try!

We held my Mum's wake there on 1st February for 40 plus friends and family, the whole service was absolutely fantastic the food was superb and all home made. It has such a warm welcoming and intimate atmosphere and that just adds to the experience. The village setting is lovely, its an old fashioned country pub with bags of character. We will be returning for a meal in the future.

First time we have been here and definitely won’t be the last. I had roast Pork Belly and asked for mash instead of roast potatoes, which was not a problem, it was mouthwatering. My husband had the Roast Lamb and he polished it all off. I’m glad we didn’t have starters because we wouldn’t have eaten it all. All staff were very attentive. Lovely place. See you again soon Sam

I went to celebrate my best friend's birthday (the pub having been recommended by her sister). Parking was easy, with the car park immediately in front of the pub. The interior was warm and cosy, with a fire burning. Two real ales were "on" - Rebellion IPA and Timothy Taylor Landlord. Both were in good condition. The others in the party found wine and spirits which suited their personal tastes. I had already looked at the dinner menu on-line, but be prepared for a large board of "specials" (from which many of us ordered). Service was excellent - the two people looking after us were attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. As for the food - WOW! Their chef and his/her team delivered well presented food, which was delicious and enjoyed by everyone. The pub is dog friendly and has a resident, well mannered, canine. This pub has a Trip Advisor "Travellers Choice Winner" award for 2023. This convinced me to go there - let it do the same for you. You will not be disappointed!

We gathered here after my mum's funeral for some food, drinks and time to connect. Mary had everything read and she and her staff were very attentive. Had a lovely Sunday lunch with friends. The roast was delicious but on the expensive side for £23.00 - felt let down by then being charged an extra £5.00 when my friend and I asked for extra gravy. I can understand not putting a lot of gravy on the roast when not everyone is a gravy lover but don't charge extra when its not enough.

A typical country pub, a Free House, in a village location. Charming garden/eating area and an equally appealing indoor bar and shabby chic dining room. The food menu is large enough to provide a real choice for everyone while remaining compact enough for the kitchen to maintain the very high quality of 'home produced' food with a decent wine list in support. One of several points which really sets this pub apart from most is the obvious care and pride and welcoming warmth demonstrated by the landlord and landlady. Special mention must go to our young and personable waitress who simply could not have done more to welcome and serve our needs. A real 10 out of 10 experience and now discovered The Red Lyon will become a regular haunt when we take my elderly Mum out for a lunch treat.

Lovely pub in the pretty village of Coleshill. The Landlord and staff were both knowledgeable and very pleasant. It was quickly evident that the landlord was passionate about his food and drink. His enthusiasm for his menu was a breath of fresh air. I ordered the cheese board however this was not available however they had some British soft blue cheese, so this was offered. When l said how nice this cheese was the landlord brought out another blue cheese for me to try. The cheese is collected weekly from a specialist supplier. Very impressive! We will certainly return.

Delightful welcome by father and son, a hidden gem in Coleshill village. We had a friend over from Aus and my wife booked a table at this pub. A very nice and quaint pub/restaurant in a nice remote village. The welcome was nice and warm and we were given a pleasant table near the fire place. The clientele is I guess mainly local people from the village and perhaps the odd tourists in the area like ourselves. There is a car park at the front and a nice beer garden too. The food choice on offer could not be faulted with a board full of daily specials. The owner recommended the sole that he purchased in the morning and wow it was beautifully cooked by the chef who we had great pleasure in meeting. All the dishes in fact were liked by all of our party as were the deserts. The venue is nice and quiet, welcoming and has some great food dishes cooked by the chef who travels up from near Winchester if I recall correctly. Thank you all for a great evening and meal, we will return in the near future I hope.

We booked a table for lunch at The Red Lion due to its proximity to Amersham Crematorium. They'd reserved tables for us inside or outside - our choice, which was nice. Food excellent and reasonably priced. Service friendly and attentive. Would have no hesitation in recommending.

Arrived after a fairly long walk in the sun at this pub for a 2 pm table in the garden. The last time that we'd been to the Red Lion was probably around 8-9 years ago, but had been meaning to visit for some time.We were greeted very pleasantly and made welcome immediately. All the tables in the sun were occupied which wasn't a problem since we sat at a shaded one awaiting other guests departure which wasn't long in coming. We were shown to a freshly cleansed sunny table in the garden and lunch wasn't long in arriving altough there was no hurry for us (still getting our breath back). The memsahib ordered the roasted fig wrapped in crispy pancetta served with burrata cheese and balsamic glaze whilst I ordered the Pie of the day which was Steak, mushroom, etc.....It transpired that I'd just missed out on the last pie but was offered a chicken, ham, mustard etc pie in it's stead which I happily accepted. To advertise this perhaps as pie of the day is to do it an injustice, since it was not only pie of the day but all of the afternoon and most of the night too! It was superb, the taste was excellent, the quantity of filling er, filling and the pastry just loverly - exactly, for me, what a pie should be. My wife's choice was demolished happily too.The beer ordered was a Timothy Taylor, Landlord. Both pints were served at the correct temprature and didn't last long.Throughout, the service was very pleasant, unpretentious and frankly spot on. It was worth every penny and we shall certainly visit again soon. I am very glad that we had a leisurely walk back of around an hour since it was definately needed. We can highly recommend this pub for all things that should be expected of an English country pub - good beer, good grub, good friendly service.

We were so lucky to come across this wonderful pub when looking for a venue for a small wake after a funeral at Amersham Crematoriam. It is a straight forward drive of just a few minutes from the Crematoriam and has a large car park at the front. The pub is very pretty with seating outside and a nice layout inside and the staff could not have been more polite and welcoming. We just wanted a simple tea and the food that was served was perfect - delicious sandwiches made with lovely fresh bread and generously filled tasty fresh ingredients, a lovely selection of cakes and tea and coffee that was refreshed regularly. Although we had booked for the correct number of guests, there was quite a lot of food left, which was packaged up for guests to take away if they wished. Would highly recommend!

The Merry Miller offers a delightful carvery experience, combining excellent food with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The carvery station is well-organized, with a generous selection of tender meats, fresh vegetables, and hearty sides. The staff is friendly and attentive, ensuring you feel right at home. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, the Merry Miller’s carvery service never disappoints.

I refuse to use this place as the owners obviously have no pride in the look of the place. Rubbish piled up near the entrance. I took the photo on a good day, usually it’s much worse than this. How do the customers not consider this an eyesore, unbelievable.

No vegan options beside a side salad, which for a chain hotel and restaurant is astonishingly poor.
