Excellent food, friendly service, great atmosphere . We ate here with friends who were visiting with their children and had a lovely time. We would happily eat here again. We all felt it was a fantastic choice of venue.

The most amazing, tasty food. Staff were friendly and helpful. I cannot praise them enough. We were told beforehand there would be a wait for the specific pie we wanted but it was well worth it. Full of flavour with good supply of steak inside. Fabulous. Will DEFINATELY make the hour long journey again.

I was travelling solo today to Chaxhill and checked for a local pub for lunch. The Lyon Inn was selected as my destination! The pub is kind of split into 3 distinct segments - the dog-friendly area, the eating area to the right and general seating to the left. The guy behind the bar made me feel very welcome and took my order (southern fried chicken burger and cheesy/bacon fries). The food is freshly cooked and has a home-cooked feel to it. Never have I had bacon cheese fries with such a generous dollop of bacon pieces! Proper cheese too, not the processed "plastic" stuff. The lady who brought my food was also very friendly and a 3rd member of staff greeted me as he walked past - despite me never having been there ever before! It's a nice welcoming pub, and the food is tasty.

What a great pub!! Went in on spec, fairly late by UK standards (gone 8pm) yet lo and behold, the chef was still there! Food was outstanding, almost too generous in quantity (no breakfast for me next day!), beer is great, good atmosphere and very welcoming. Attractive inside and out with easy parking. What’s not to like?!

Stopped in for lunch with our five-year-old and a visiting family member. There was a warm welcome and an extensive menu. All the food was fantastic. Perfectly cooked and really tasty. A cut above normal pub lunchtime fare. Child portion was just right, and polished off by a very fussy little one. Will definitely be returning.

This was an amazing experience. Exceptional food created by Craig & Andi, wine paired by Bryannah, and hosted by Tom. We've eaten here several times before, but this was our first time in the hidden Blue Room. We were a group of six, with two of us celebrating significant birthdays. Right from the start we were made to feel very welcome and valued. After a welcome drink, we were taken through to the lovely secret Blue Room. Each course was described by Craig, and Bryannah then told us about the wine pairing and why they had it on their wine list. Our empty plates & glasses after each course were testament to the quality of the food we were served. At the end of the evening we were all presented with a little gift which was very much appreciated. All in all an absolutely fantastic celebration. Craig, Andi, Bryannah and Tom were lovely, and their passion for their food and wine shone through. We will certainly be back for the next significant birthday.

A solid local, British pub. We love it every time. Come here and order the Sunday lunch sharing dipping gravy fondue roast. You won't regret it!

Great little pub with friendly staff and a good selection of ales but….. the Sunday dinner was out of this world - never tasted gravy or roasties like it. And under £20 per adult so genuinely couldn’t find any fault.

We went for my husbands birthday meal. I'd have liked. My starter was filo pastry with chicken and prawns. It was tasty. For my main, I had the char-grilled pork. It looked lovely and tasted good. The slices of pork were tender but the larger piece was slightly dry. The only thing I was missing was a little more apple sauce but that's my fault for not asking! I would have preferred firmer veg too as they took on the taste of the parsnips (I like parsnips but hubbie isn't a fan!) My potatoes didn't come out with the meal but at least the person that brought them confessed 😁 The wait between ordering and courses was good (I didn't get a check in though). The guy behind the bar was friendly and it was good to hear they are going to be busy over the festive season!

What a great pub. The food is all cooked fresh, enticing menu and tastes wonderful. Choice for everyone from fine dining to snacks. The owners and family are so lovely and make u welcome. A wonderful selection of drinks and the cocktails are fab. Worth paying a visit.

We went here as a big group for Sunday Lunch. The food was wonderful. I enjoyed the generous portion of perfectly cooked beef. The crème brûlée was also fantastic. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We would definitely return. If I were to give one area that could be improved that's to give the baked potatoes longer in the oven but that really was only a minor thing.

A great pub that serves a lovely selection of menus. We booked in for lunch on Sunday and all decided to have the ploughman’s sharing platters which were really good value. It would have been nice to have had some local pork pies and bread but otherwise it was great. There was plenty for a couple. We had two deserts of pineapple pudding and cookie dough which were also very good. Service was excellent and we will definitely be returning to try what looked like a wonderful roast and the other platters.

A decent but unmemorable meal. Overmany potatoes, skin - not crackling - left on the pork chop. Rather loud 'background' music. A bit pricey for what it offered.

Fabulous Sunday lunch. We had the vegan roast with all the veggie trimmings and veggie gravy! Super tasty, veg cooked perfectly. Beautifully presented and delicious. Appealing pub on the main A48, in the centre of a Severnside village, adjacent to the church. There is a traditional bar area with two separate restaurants on either side of this. The menu offers a good selection of mainly pub standards such as fish & chips, steaks, pies and a great range of burgers, and it was burgers that we opted for. They proved to be very good burgers, served with decent chips. Prices are very reasonable. There were two ales on the bar at the time of our visit, both from Butcombe; decent enough and semi-local, but I would like to have seen something from Gloucestershire. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and service is efficient.

One of the best pubs and food we have had the pleasure to find and enjoy. Exceptional. The menu was vast making it difficult to choose. The onion rings were out of this world. It was so good we came back for a Sunday dinner the next day. Great variety of vegetables, tasty and good portions. Lovely garden and all dog friendly too. This is now our benchmark pub that we will remember for a long time. Needless to say we recommend it!!

We had a family get together at the Lyon. Most of us had the ribeye which proved to be an excellent choice. The chef catered for our individual choices regarding the trimmings. The staff were friendly and the pub had a good atmosphere. Would definitely go again.
