The Red Lion in Crawley

The staff is unwelcoming and unhelpful. I asked a waitress for help to order. I was told I needed to order via app and at the same time move tables. Might as well asked me to leave. Disservice is what you get. Very unpleasant way to start the day. Her demeanor was careless to say the least.

The staff were so rude wanted us to sit at a small dirty table as there was only two of us. We said no as we wanted to order food and the place was dead. After that all the staff gave us looks servers were rude just chucked the food on our table and walked off no “enjoy” or anything. A staff member kept coming by our table and sweeping right next to me even though there was nothing on the floor. I understand it’s a busy place but I wouldn’t eat here again service is terrible and staff are just blatantly rude

Decent pint (guest ale) and reasonable priced, disappointing and overpriced food. I wasn’t expecting much and this was the case.

Plenty of seats at 11.30 am, pleasant staff but plates and food were cold. Expect to pay more than a standard Wetherspoons

Just what you want before a flight, lots of seating available to enjoy a drink or two and a bit of food at a very reasonable price for an airport, you do not get ripped off here.

Early morn large breakfast with a bottle of water at less than £16, quite reasonable value Average quality ingredients but edible. Two bacon/sausages/eggs, beans toast, mushroom and three hash browns. Fast ordering and service, plenty of seating options at 4am.

Great venue. Slightly overpriced BUT you are paying the the view. One of my favourite spots south of Leeds. Wow. See picture below….

We ordered a double American cheeseburger and a triple American cheeseburger and expected a big portion given the name and the price, instead the portion was very poor and the cheese was not even melted. Moreover, when the waitress gave us a table she didn’t even tell us that we had to stand up and go to the bar to pay and that table service was not possible, thankfully other costumers told us that.

Ordered katsu curry with extra chilli. Food arrived with no chilli… had to ask someone took 10 mins for confirmation… went back to the bar to order. Food was cold. Taken them 20 mins for two ramekins of chilli. One pot came and it was a sad sight sorry it out

Food was barely edible, eggs rubbery, tomatoes and mushroom tasteless. The highlight was the backed beans. Prices through the roof!

Where do I start? 20 minutes in the queue, filthy dirty tables (not wiped between guests). £20 for a medium glass of wine (served in a dirty gin bloom), nachos and a small Pepsi. I work in a pub so I appreciate it's tough, particularly when it's busy, but this was shameful. All because they've a captive audience.

As part of the holiday, we habitually go to wethies north terminal, for early breakfast, it's always expensive, that bit we know, however, This time was an absolute disgrace. Very long time coming, thirty quid for a pint, coffee, scrambled eggs on toast, erm no toast here, wet bread hastily thrown into a toaster and out again, bacon sarnie, one meagre slice of bacon, cold, thrown into an unbuttered couple of slices, so small there was none in one side.... Nah, enough is enough, we won't come back, don't bother, if enough people vote with their hard earned, they may start to look at it.....

Couldn’t fault it really. I’d read some differing reviews about the food coming out at different times and seating issues, but we didn’t have any issues. We travelled in a group of 7, flying out at 07:20. On arrival there looked to be a fair sized queue waiting to be seated, but this went down very quickly and we were sat within 10 minutes. In our group of 7 the 4 paid by card from the app and the 3 paid cash at the til, so it was a perfect test for their system. Those who paid in cash got their food first with 15-20 mins of ordering and the orders from the app came just a minute or so later so all 7 got their food at pretty much the same time and no one reported any issues with their food. It was the ideal start to the holiday.

The main reason for writing this is to give Praise to Jodie , who is the front of house member of the team. I watched her working and was so impressed with her Customer Service skills, but also remained so calm , friendly and helpful in all situations. She is a credit and hopefully management know this, and commend her for it. Otherwise, you will lose her. Well done Jodie. Keep up the good work.

Waited over 25 minutes to be seated. Ordered on app and waited over 25 minutes for 2 drinks to arrive! 1 pint and 1 glass of wine. Clearly understaffed. No wonder half of the staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there. Tables not wiped down. Plates and drinks not cleared. Not exactly weatherspoons prices either. These are just basics they clearly can’t get right

The most popular restaurant in the airport! Which also means it was busy and full. Staff worked their socks off to find you a table, keep the queues moving, and get your food to you in good time. The ambience was terrible with crowds of people crammed onto tables close together. A victim of their own success and lack of decent competition. Food was good, prices a tad high.

Long queues to get in but does go down quickly. It was very busy but by ordering from the app made it a better experience and efficient.

Their was a little wait on food and drink given their was a little rush . But mates beans where cold when they arrived to the table with his traditional breakfast but it was very average.

Wednesday 14th June we were in the Departure Lounge of the North Terminal of Gatwick Airport, awaiting the departure of our Tui flight to Kavala in Greece. So with time on our hands, what better way to kick-start the holiday than by having a drink in "Spoons" before flying. We found a high table and two chairs, near the bar, where we plonked down. Once we got ourselves sorted we ordered our two drinks via the App. After a few minutes our drinks were served to our table by a very cheerful member of staff. There was additional seating in upstairs section of the bar. We paid £6.00 for a pint of Carlsberg and £4.65 for a pint of IPA, £10.65 for two pints, this was  cheaper than the bar in the Premier Inn, across the road, where we stayed the night before. However a lot more expensive than the "Spoons" in Crawley where we would normally stay in the Travelodge, appreciate Airport prices are expensive.

Just needed a hot drink as we had several hours to kill. Excellent friendly service, cup that could be refilled several times, spotlessly clean.

Small portion of Nachos provided for £9.95, poor value, loaded with red chilli's you can't eat unless you are immune to the effects of chilli seeds. A poor portion for the cost, disappointing and poor value. The upside is that iced water in pint glasses is free before your flight. In the evening there is usually seating available.

We decided to stop off here for breakfast, before our early morning flight, it was very busy, and staff seemed, rushed off their feet. Food and drinks were good.

It's a shame the only option in Gatwick for a pub is Spoons, but it's a British tradition before any flight. This is your average Wetherspoons but is more expensive because it's an airport.

Last Thursday afternoon I watched a waitress clean 5 or 6 tables with the same cloth she kept in pouch on waist belt. At no time did she spray a table or change or rinse out the cloth.

We had a very early flight out of Gatwick and had our breakfast at the Red Lion in the terminal. I downloaded the app whilst waiting in the queue that moved very quickly as the superb staff directed you to tables and ensuring walkways etc weren’t blocked demonstrating that they weee taking the COVID restrictions very seriously. I ordered my family food via the very easy to use app and it turned up in no time. This is helpful as if your like me you always have one eye on the departures board worrying about how much time you have available.You know what your going to get with Wetherspoons and here is no different they do what they do very well

Have to say it was packed as ever but service was pretty quick. I downloaded the Wetherspoons app which was really easy to use and obviously worked! Staff were all COVID aware and there were some screens etc between some ( not all) seating. It was cheap and cheerful, giving the government COVID discount

I like Wetherspoon pubs, they cater to the tastes of the British public at affordable prices. The Red Lion at Gatwick Airport is a Wetherspoon pub and offers the standard menu. I was apprehensive when I went in because it was packed and I had limited time before I had to be at my departure gate. I went to the bar for a drink and was served very quickly so asked how long it would be for a meal. I was told it wouldn’t be long so I ordered something simple, burger and chips. And sure enough, my meal was soon on my table very quickly. Very impressive. A word of warning though, the prices are airport prices, higher than the prices in a high street Wetherspoons.

Today we went back to have something to it with another group of friends. Unfortunately the same member of staff who was there last year was still there ( my son asked for a coke and he asked him for ID) .He was patronising to a poor french speaking holiday maker before and after he was rude to my husband and refused to serve him!!! My husband was only touching the bar, that was all, while others were touching the bar too and didn’t get the same response from him. My husband stuck up for himself and my husband was made to apologise by a female member of staff.So all I can say your employee was rude!!! Obviously he doesn’t think people will remember him.... well he is doing a good job making sure you know who he is. He needs customers service training!!!

Queued for a quarter of an hour. Fish & Chips for about £18 but very disappointing. Small fish, dry bendy batter, slight chemical flavour to the tartar sauce but some modest compensation in the mushy peas.

This was a very busy restaurant that we visited for breakfast. We were served quickly and the food was delivered hot and tasty. A good old breakfast sandwich was the order of the day and it was spot on. We were very happy with the whole experience in The Red Lion. This was my first visit to a wetherspoons and just before leaving the UK!

Before our flight we decided to eat, we had beef chilli and rice at £11.70, fish and chips with mushy peas at £11.95, then drinks a large Pepsi max at £2.65, Pinot Grigio white wine at £4.75. We ordered off the app as to save queuing at the bar area, as usual great value and good quality food.

I know exactly what I am going to get at Wetherspoons and it never changes. Get on the App and it makes life even better. The only downside is that it is expensive for airside you are paying London beer prices.

The place to go for a drink / cheap eats before a flight but it’s become a victim of it’s own success as it’s a mission to get in and get served.The food and beverages are typical spoons fare but slightly dearer than normal because of where it is, that said, if possible, get in there !

Arrived at 0420 and amazingly found a table and chairs, normally it is rammed. Coffee was superb as were the bacon butties. Staff were friendly and the service was quick. No issues at all and have eaten here loads of times when flying out.

As most things after check in at the airport, very expensive! They encourage you too too order using their app and then food and drinks are brought to you table. This felt weird but worked smoothly, no queue at the bar!Food and drinks decent - vegan options available.
