The Red Lion in Ipswich

It's a very lovely place lots of funny characters and a great atmosphere. They don't do food.

Not used the red lion for a long time and was impressed

Watched the town match. Awesome atmosphere plenty of viewing screens and one biggen for those with poor eyesight or had a few Shandy's 😉. Staff seem nice, didn't eat any food so no score on that. Dare we believe! Uppa Town!

I'll give this pub 5 stars.. I grew up in the area,so know this pub quite well,. I now don't use the pub as such,but my work goes in for the land lady Sharon. I am flowers by Julie..and proudly deliver flowers for all occasions. To see a full,..working pub,..great atmosphere when I walk in,..is a truly great sight.. Well done to The Red Lion Pub,for keeping it going,after all these decades...

Very old school pub. A lot of regulars and locals. I love the family feel it has as everyone knows everyone and the pint are CHEAP!! I'd say, averaging at £4.10 a pint. Brilliant to watch the football and play pool.

Highly, highly recommended. I’m in from Canada briefly, and had the trout with Cask Marque level Old Speckled Hen. Perfection. Even the cappuccino was as if out of an Italian coffee shop. And Chloe was the perfect ambassador. Cannot wait to return.

Have used it on a few occasions & can't fault it. Good selection of beers & friendly clientele.

Lovely pub good atmosphere great choice of drink. Clean well laid out with a beer garden. Adequate parking. Pool darts and table tennis.

From the outside looks like your average pub, but inside it's well spaced out, caters for sports on a huge screen and friendly atmosphere and quick service. Will definitely return.

Fantastic, traditional pub! Exactly what you want; extremely fair drink prices, friendly staff and perfectly maintained pool, for a fraction of the price of anywhere else! If you're looking for a place you can socialise with locals and enjoy a pint without having to fork out a loan, this is where you want to be! Box office fights and sports shown regularly and a very nice environment to enjoy them!

Great service very friendly staff

Was enjoying a nice pint and put money in the jukebox, about 3 songs left to play the jukebox was turned off with no warning. Asked the barmaid about it said i had music on and she just said oh that's because of the band then turned it back on. No mention in the pub of a band at all, some guys with instruments in the back. By this time i heard half of a song and the last one started just as i finished my pint. Not at all impressed and a refund and apology would have been better, if your going to have a band then don't let people use the jukebox and or let people know!

Local pub, cheap beer and pool. Shows football.

The price of the beer is fair but unfortunately there is no atmosphere in the pub and was far to hot as the fire was on. Staff where ok and friendly

Nice meal of a packet of crisps, the Carlsberg was good, a challenging conversation with Herbie I believe sitting in the corner! But I found the barmaids choice of language a little bit shocking during my stay!

We went to the red lion after a long walk and we were very hungry. We orded the chicken pie for two people and the pastry wasn't even touching the inside of the pie, the sauce had melted butter in it floating at the top also it made us feel sick. I don't recommend eating here. Although the vegetables were a good portion for one person but not for two as we had to share one portion.

A real community pub. A dying breed these days. Great for an after work or evening beer in peace. Pleasant surroundings. Discounted drinks 1200-1800, I believe. Although children are allowed in, until a certain time, this is mainly over weekends. The pub has a music machine, pool table, betting machines and of course X2 dart boards. The team I understand are doing well too, but the season is early. The proprietor is most welcoming and very friendly. Give it a visit, you won't be disappointed I'm sure.

Stella was off but they was happy to change it over for any other drink free of charge.

Warm and relaxing welcome. Excellent food,, perfectly presented and cooked. Required no extra seasoning. Very impressed.

All of our drinks were flat which ruined the mixers. Felt unwelcome from the regulars. (Bar staff were fine I just want to add that) Got told while entering the pub by someone that "kindergarten was that way" and got woo'd by someone upon entering because I was evidently a lot younger than the people there. Won't be coming again even if you are the closest pub to where I live.

Great staff fun and friendly and welcoming, a great atmosphere with fun and enjoyable entertainment from karaoke to live bands i have been going there over 6 years and allways have a smile on my face when i come out the people who run the pub are so lovley i highly recommend coming here it's fabulous :-) ☆☆☆☆☆

This is a fantastic pub ran by truly lovely and hard working amazing people there is allways plenty going on and the entertainment is allways great and so much fun i thoroughly enjoy going to the red lion all year round if you are looking for a nice atmosphere along with great entertainment and nice people this should be your 1st choice 😊💙

Great people the best people work behind the bar all round great pub from 12:00 tell 6:00 £2:70 all day long for a pint nice place to drink in Darren Paul.
