This was my third lunch with friends at Ask Italian in Ipswich in 2024. Every time the service has been excellent - staff were attentive, but we didn't feel rushed. The food was lovely. The summer special £27.50 for 3 courses was particularly good value. An easy walk from the station and parking in front of the restaurant.

I wanted to go here for a while now as I like italian food. I went with my husband for a nice dinner. The location of the restaurant is great, has access to parking and other amenities. The service was nice and well timed and the food was absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed it. The only down part is the design and outdated furniture, it feels a bit cheap, but with a bit of refurb that can be brought back to life and be an amazing place. We still enjoyed our meal very much!

I had only been to ASK Italian once before with a friend, and so I was a bit unsure about how I would find it this time. The lovely staff all made me and my mum feel so welcome here, so we soon felt right at home. The decor was also so comfortable and pretty, we both thought it really added to the whole experience! The food came out quickly and was delicious- it was lovely and hot! I decided for dessert to try ‘chocolate filled gnocchi’, which sounds bizarre, but I think it had to be one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! Overall the experience was amazing, and I’ll definitely be returning to this chain in the future.

Absolutely awful! Sharing antipasti with only 4 slices of meat for almost £15! Lots of rocket though… Cutlery for our second course just dropped in a heap at end of table and server walked off. Grumpy & rude staff apart from 1 server who was really nice others were rude, seemed serving our drinks & food was an imposition. Ordered seafood pasta to be told there was no seafood, which is fine but then I later asked if that was correct as I could see seafood starters coming out of the kitchen, to be told, everything is basically pre packaged so the prawns couldnt be served with a pasta main but were pre ready for starters… so not all freshly prepared…! . Ran out of lasagnes by 8pm. Bad food - I left mine. My friend’s beef dish was so dry. Inattentive staff. Then charged 10% service charge! Very very poor. Worst meal we’ve had out in years, we won’t be back. The server with plaits, I didn’t catch your name but you were super helpful, even though you weren’t our server! Thank you for making a bad night better.

ASK Italian on Cardinal Park, Ipswich was a disgrace. Our very good friends treated us (6) to dinner and it was appalling. The starter of antipasti x3 at £15 EACH wasn’t enough to feed one. Could have bought the same from a supermarket for a fiver. Our main course cutlery was thrown on the table for us to distribute amongst the six of us. The waiting staff had no knowledge of the food or wine menu. They were moody and clearly couldn’t give a damn and wanted to end their shift at 10pm. The main courses were below average: lacking in sauce (dry), flavour and basic seasoning. They had run out of lasagne and all seafood options (pasta, pizza, etc) by 8pm. I have nothing to say to recommend this restaurant to anyone and will never return. Don’t go there. Stay at home and make cheese on toast with a shake of garlic granules and save yourself £250 and a great deal of frustration and disappointment. Management should be utterly embarrassed and ashamed.

Quite a nice place to eat but the pizza I ordered was small, average in flavour and overpriced.

Visited Ask Ipswich on Sunday 5 May, and it was surprisingly busy for a Sunday evening, which may explain why the service was so poor. We both ordered a drink and our meal, which included a starter and a main. The drinks and, to be fair the starters came quite swiftly. My starter was mushroom al forno, which was tasteless and dry. I tried getting someone’s attention to get some oil to drizzle over it but gave up trying and persevered. The mains took 40 minutes to arrive, only after I asked why there was such a delay, and my wife’s pizza came topped with pepperoni, not pancetta and was therefore sent back leaving me to eat my meal alone. In amongst this we were never asked if we wanted another drink. The staff may have been busy but there really is no excuse for what was simply poor service. Lastly the gents toilets were disgusting with urine all over the floor due to a leaking urinal with a plastic tub misplaced beneath it. We paid £65 for a poor meal and basically had a very disappointing experience. We won’t be returning.

The Beef brisket Papadelle was fantastic. Excellent vegan options too! Both staff that served us were exceptionally polite and friendly. The atmosphere was nicely relaxed but not too quiet for the time of day/day we visited.

Didn't really enjoy it here, food and drink was expensive for what it is. And the service was very slow it is not somewhere I would go again.

Great friendly service and the food was excellent. The choice of dishes is extensive and being a vegetarian, I had a wide range to choose from.

Our 20 yr old student son was visiting Ipswich as part of an upcoming placement. He had to stay in a hotel for two nights on his own and eat out for dinner as nothing available in the hotel. He went to ASK at around 6.30pm and asked for a table … he was told they ‘already had too many’ despite all the empty tables and him being on his own. Very offhand and rude and made him feel very uncomfortable. On phoning afterwards we were told they were short staffed and having a difficult day. Nice of them to take it out on a young man on his own. Shameful behaviour! The reality is he was one person, it was early doors, and all he wanted was a warm meal after a long day. He wouldn’t have been taking a table up all night and making demands on the staff. If you happen to find yourself in a similar situation save yourself the trouble and just go to Prezzo. Or just go to Prezzo in any event.

A Sunday afternoon; relaxing; taster of their lemonade on the table; the supervisor -man- gave very good service :) And already want to come back for the fish pasta :’3

Our overall experience here was so nice, would just like to thank the waitress Natalie again who was lovely, and attentive to our table when she noticed we were having issues ordering online, she’s a credit to the team <3 definitely recommend dining here.

I really enjoyed the meal there. And then dessert. I go there when I have the opportunity. It is clean and the people are friendly. I don't live in Ipswich. It's handy with a carpark outside and on the edge of town.

A pretty standard Ask Italian. Food and service were nice and we had a good time.

After parking the car near the entrance to Ask Italian at Cardinal Park, Ipswich, myself and a friend made our way through the two doors to the inside area. I had reserved a table for two and when seated were given the menus and a free taster of lovely refreshing raspberry lemonade. We ordered our drinks and placed our food orders. We had a sharing starter of N'Duja & Cheese Dough which were absolutely delicious. Our mains of Fetticini Bolognese and Gnocci Arrabiata were brought to us once the starters were finished. The food was hot and plentiful. A thoroughly enjoyable meal pleasantly served. Would recommend 👌.

Lovely pizza and my partner got a lasagna. Food was gorgeous. However, I wasn't keen with the seating arrangements as feels like you are too close with the other guests.

Very disappointed with the service when I last went to the Ipswich branch. I was in a party of nine but the restaurant was quiet as we were booked in at 4pm. The staff were initially attentive and took our orders. I asked for my meal without cheese and my son asked for his without mushrooms, however both meals came with, and so had to be sent back. The staff re-ordered the meals without fuss, thankfully, though were not particularly apologetic. My meal appeared, without cheese this time about 10 minutes later, however, my son had to wait much longer, in fact he had to go to the serving hatch himself to get it as the staff seemed to have disappeared. On the whole everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, mine was ok, but I won't be going back in a hurry.

Lovely chilled warm atmosphere and service with a friendly smile and approach. Freshly made food that tastes great. I definitely recommend this place if you fancy a pasta or pizza dish and close to the cinema.

Always an absolute pleasure to dine here with my family. Chris and the team are always so welcoming and our grandchildren think that this is “their” restaurant!! I would particularly like to highlight Carlos as an amazing host. He always goes above and beyond to make it a special experience.

We had a family meal and my daughter has a nut allergy and we couldn't have been looked after any better. My daughter was very apprehensive about going. Our waitress was wonderful. She checked the menu and made sure she highlighted what my daughter was having so the kitchen was aware. She was Very attentive and made the whole experience very enjoyable. The food was delicious. We will definitely be going again.

We originally came in and choose a table away from the door. Then a group was sat at the table next who where too loud for us. Our waitress was happy to accommodate us elsewhere. She was a lovely happy young lady that gave us the time we needed and sorted out my Mothers wine. The only unfortunate thing was the frutti di Mare but the manager Nikoletta dealt with this in such a professional manner.

Popped in today as a last minute decision. Have to say the staff were ridiculously attentive and the food arrived pretty quick. The shot of homemade lemonade was a nice touch and a great atmosphere. The taste of the food was outstanding. My risotto was perfectly cooked,my friend had a chicken dish which was not dry and the vegetables were cooked al dente. I will be back again as soon as I can.

Went there on a quiet lunchtime, just 2 mains purchased. My tagliatelle was tasteless I'm afraid. Daughters lasagne was lovely she said.

Pizza and garlic bread ordered, both were delivered cold the sauce was spilled in box. Delivery boy didn't have a thermal insulated carrier bag. Disappointed by service and the quality of food.

We came here for a family meal (haven't been in years) and it was lovely. Our waitress Savannah was really sweet and very attentive but not over bearing. Our meals were delicious and we will definitely be visiting again

Chicken came back to me 2x as slight pink and raw. My partner food also didn’t include chicken when he ordered chicken with it and the bottom of his calzone was burnt BLACK. Problem did get solved with 2 free drinks and the chicken meal to not be included on the bill. 👍

12/09/23 I visited Ask Ipswich for a lovely evening with friends. However, I left feeling quite the opposite. One of my friends ordered a dessert and, after bringing the dessert over, the waitress made a comment about the number of calories in it, and a remark on its potential impact. Although I myself did not order this dessert, as someone in recovery from an eating disorder, this comment made me incredibly uncomfortable, and definitely did not help a situation (a meal out with some friends) which can be very difficult for someone in recovery already. Personally, I do not agree with the calories on menu law, and actively avoid trying to read the numbers when I eat out, as things like this hinder my recovery and could cause relapse. So, having our attention brought so abruptly to something like this, in such an inappropriate and unnecessary way was not appreciated. If you enjoy going for a meal out, and like to enjoy your meal without fear of judgement, then I do not recommend.

Perfect....... desert was lovely

We had a bad day at work and decided a bottle of wine and dinner out would be our reward. It wasn’t the best choice we’ve ever made. The restaurant was empty (mind you it was early) and even when more came in, there was very little atmosphere and the food came out so quickly it didn’t feel special or relaxing. The mains were ok but nothing wonderful and the desserts were certainly not homemade and we could have bought anywhere. We left almost as fed up as we arrived so the Ask panacea was clearly not the answer. A week later a parking ticket arrived - who knew. It’s completely my fault as I thought less than 2 hours were free. Why wouldn’t I think that. There was no meter by the disabled parking and I don’t understand why there is a charge when there is nothing other than food outlets, a gym and a cinema. So not only was the food expensive but £60 on top for a parking ticket means no further visit ever to cardinal park. I’m amazed these restaurants survive and with add ons just to park your car just to go for a meal it’s no wonder there’s a slump in hospitality outlets. It won’t be too long before Cardinal Park joins the long line of deserted below par places to visit in Ipswich. A Mecca for the unwanted, unsophisticated, talentless lowlife that presently infest the town centre.

I have been coming to this Ask since it opened! The staff are super friendly and managers are always very accommodating. Great experience for all the family and something on the menu for everyone. Their homemade lemonade is always a hit and their bar is top notch too. The Garlic Bread with Mozzarella and Caramelized Balsamic Onions is absolute heaven. Even when it’s full, the service never lets up. Best to get yourself a reservation on a Friday/Saturday Night or more than a party of 4!

If you want a good portion and food on time nandoes is next door! Got there at 7. Ordered side main and desert together so food an come in good time and they have time to prepare. Baring in mind it wasn't busy at all, we got our started in good time. Then 40 minutes after we finished that no main, so I asked about the food and by the looks on there faces seems they forgot and hadn't even stared making. It was 810 when we started eating thr main. Had to rush that down then go straight to dessert as was going to cinema. Thought an hour and a half before the film was good enough time but clearly not. I brought this issue up with a staff member who said they were understaffed but at the time we were there I highly doubt they were having trouble as most of the time they were standing around doing nothing (including us there was only 2 other tables for like 7 waiters) didn't even get an apology. Felt sick having to leave after everything got stiffed down. Food was over priced and little portions.

Love love the gluten free pizzas here! I think they are the best you can get! 😊 Gutted they took away the specific menus for Gluten and Dairy free! Now have to figure out stuff with a massive book again 😞 Will still be coming back again and again for the pizzas 🍕 Thank you Ask 😊

Always a nice place for a family meal

We had a great lunch the wife and I in Ask Ipswich last Sunday, where we ordered the calamari and king prawns for starters, and a nice salad and pasta for mains. The deserts were delicious too, and the staff was useful and friendly. And we saved almost £30 using our Tastecard. Sunday lunch happiness for our tummies and our pockets.

First rate food and great experience

We visited Ask Italian Ipswich for my daughter’s 9th birthday with other family members and had a wonderful experience. All staff were friendly, accommodating & nothing was too much trouble. We had starters and a main course which were all delicious, even the children finished their meals. Thank you!

Food was very nice. Service was a bit slow at times. There was one blonde women who was very polite, kind and looked after us. Felt the other staff slacked a little and we had to keep asking for drinks. As for slapping on a £36 service charge that was another thing entirely. Considering it was already a £300+ bill that was not on. Usually you have to tell us its on there and we can ask for it to be removed which was not the case.
