The Red Lion in Telford and Wrekin

Food & atmosphere were fabulous as they were provided by the hostess of the party we attended. The funtion room & toilets were damp smelling & only one person on the function room bar & he had to keep running to the main pub for stock. Sadly, I would not recommend booking the function room unless there is a major refurbishment!

Called in as we were driving in past. Glad we did as the food and staff were outstanding. Delicious food and plenty of it. Highly recommend

Stayed overnight with our motorhome. Alex made us really welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Had ham egg chips, excellent, as was the scampi. Will definitely call again on the way to or from Wales.

Very helpful with special dietary requirements. Excellent service. Food very fresh and well presented. Definitely worth a visit.

Great pub. Very friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely meal, especially the home made blackberry and apple crumble with custard. Delicious and good value. Will definitely make a point of visiting again when we are in the area.

We stopped off on our way to our holiday destination, fire was lovely, it was quiet in there other than a couple of locals and the food was prepared freshly by the chef, she was super friendly and lovely. Posh finger ciabatta was delicious as was the chicken pie. They had fresh made rolls FOR £1! As well. Would recommend!

What a little gem in Wellington. We didn't know the area, and found Red Lion on here. We were delighted with the warm family welcome, and the food was incredible. You won't be disappointed. Also the family that runs the pub are so lovely. Support local brilliant business.

Came as a family group for Sunday lunch. Didn’t really know what to expect and it was a really lovely surprise. Four Sunday lunches, one chilli and macaroni cheese ordered, six tasty desserts and six very happy guests. Everyone enjoyed their food. The prices are very competitive in my view with mains coming in under £10 and desserts £5.50. Very friendly staff who were up for a laugh and a joke. Don’t expect this to be a gastropub, it’s an honest, friendly place with some good pub grub. Hopefully we’ll be back on our next visit to Wellington.

Lovely place for a motorhome stopover on the way to Wales food very good and peaceful sleep.

6 of us ate here early evening, as we were staying in the area. We all thought the quality and quantity of the food was excellent. They charge around £10 for a main course which is fine considering the quality of the food. We all had a different main course and couldn't fault anything. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this establishment.

Chose this pub for an early dinner as would be the local for my daughter who is hoping to buy a house nearby. Checked the prices for main courses on their website and at around £7 for most dishes thought that was very reasonable. Ordered a drink and the landlady was lovely chatty and very friendly. When I came to pay the bill for the food I was shocked to find that I had been charged over £30 for 3 main courses. When I queried this I was told that 6.70 quoted on the website for the main courses was for lunchtime only. I have never come across this before on a pub menu and thought it was false advertising and excessive to pay more than £10 a head for what although good was essentially pub food. Needless to say it left a bad taste for us all. We thought we had found a lovely friendly pub which would be a local for my daughter and where we could meet for a reasonably priced meal. Only to find that the price that was quoted on the website and that I based our visit on was not honoured and that I actually paid 30% more.

Went for Sunday lunch after Christmas. Food was piping hot and great quality, proper traditional food. I was pleasantly surprised, so much so, we now go most weeks.

Average visit. Nothing great, nothing bad. A bit bare and cold feeling inside, but Ludlow Gold pint was acceptable, if a little pricey. No food on evenings midweek at least, although do have reasonable rolls for a pound.

Beer was okay though the sandwiches weren't great bread felt a bit stale. But a warm welcome which made up for that I think.

Auf der Suche nach einer Alternative zur traditionell englischen Küche sind meine Kumpels und ich auf dieses Restaurant gestossen. Die vielen sehr guten Rezensionen auf Tripadvisor haben uns von diesem Lokal überzeugt. Von Aussen ist das Red Lion kaum auffällig und man muss aufpassen nicht daran vorbei zu fahren. Hinter dem Haus befinden sich ausreichend Parkplätze sowie ein Eingang zum Restaurant. Innen ist das Red Lion sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Der Service war ausgesprochen freundlich, unkompliziert und effizient. Wir mussten keine halbe Stunde auf unser Essen warten. Das Nan duftete herrlich und kam direkt aus dem heissen Öl. Wir waren zu fünft, wobei jeder etwas anderes bestellte. Natürlich tauschten wir untereinander die Gerichte aus und sie waren alle sehr schmackhaft. Der Inhaber kam an unseren Tisch und erklärte stolz, dass in seinem Restaurant alles frisch gekocht wird und sie keine Konserven verwenden und ja, das schmeckt man. Das Red Lion ist eine kleine, von aussen unscheinbare Perle die es wert ist entdeckt zu werden. Wer gerne Indisch isst, sollte das Red Lion besuchen. Es lohnt sich.

Having had a meal, I would not hesitate to recommend this establishment, food was to a high standard and served very quickly what more could you ask for.

Down visiting for the IPMS show, we stayed not far from this charming pub, so was our "local" great place good selection of beers and the food was top class.Decent size portions all served pipping hot ,the pub is great the food is great but it's real stars are its staff, very friendly and helpful, will be back next year and if passing even quicker.

Down from Glasgow for a couple of days....we always go to the Red Lion for food and some drinks ! Friendly staff great service and fantastic food. Highly recommended...you will have a great night !

Average food although admittedly a low price so can't complain. Very disappointing selection of ales for a pub in the west of England, although the one they had was fine. Around ok.

Was not happy ordered a trad ale and double gin and lemonade cost 8.20 then the wife asked for a bit more lemonade which she got 2nd round we had trad ale plus double gin and lemonade price 12.10 I asked how come it's gone up nearly 4 pounds she said I'm charging you for extra lemonade for last time and extra for this time 4 pounds what a rip off Will never go there again

Went to the red lion with friends after the Shrewsbury game at Wembley, it was my first visit and I have to say it is a lovely classic pub with a nice range of drinks and good seating area.

Great proper British pub. Well kept cellar and great beer. Very welcoming.

Both roasts we ordered were generously sized and good value for money. I would have liked a Yorkshire pudding with my chicken roast however it wasn't to be. The potatoes were cooked to perfection as was the mash included. The fireplace was great especially on a day that had snowed so it gave off a very comforting and warm feel. Service was good as well

Visited today for lunch. We had the mixed grill. Cooked really well thanks to the chef. .. great pub friendly staff really helpful too. Will definitely be going back. Thanks

This is a popular traditional old style pub. It's mainly a drinking pub but food is available. On our visit we were served a cold buffet of sandwiches, pork pie and similar buffet snacks satisfying without being exceptional. Beer was well kept. For those who drive there's a modest car park which fills up quite quickly but there's on street parking nearby if needed.

Had the pleasure of visiting here over the weekend while down for the model show. Lovely place staff charming, good selection of drinks. Meals where of a high standard and delivered to the table very fast. Staff a credit to the business.

Foods always been lovely. Never had a complaint about it. Good protion sizes too. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Willing to amend/adjust food for u if needed. My pnly problem is the doorway isn't wheelchair friendly as it is very narrow and has a step to get in through both the front and side doors. (Its a very old building) But once in its all on a level. A lovely fruendly old pub.

Un amigo y yo en el Red Lion la semana pasada (mi segunda visita) después de un paseo hasta el Wrekin. Nos dieron una cálida bienvenida disfrutamos de una buena pinta y algunas comida recién hecha. El propietario examinó mi cerveza, decidió que estaba cerca de la parte inferior de la barrica y cambiado, así que todo bien.El Red Lion es un pub tradicional, no se ha hecho para ser lo que no es, un buen fuego, buena comida y una pinta bien cuidado, no hay necesidad de añadir nada más.

Good boozer and good value food

we booked an evening get together and buffet for around 35 people of widely contrasting ages and requirements all of which was organised with the minimum of fuss, even when we had additional requirements during the event. cant speak highly enough about the whole team, well done.

We popped in for lunch on New Years Eve, when we asked about gluten free a Menu was produced, what a shock, a happy shock!! So many places don't even know about Coeliac disease. We had 4 different meals all gluten free, freshly cooked and excellent value.

Stumbled across this pub when visiting family in area and needed to get away for couple of hours. happy smiles on way in and everyone very friendly. beer was lovely so was my g and t. nice clean pub with clean toilet. they have lots going on at this pub Spice Nights, Quiz Nights and Live Music, were having a sale of second hand furniture in the function room the next week and if we were around we would have gone. very family friendly have family games afternoons. this pub has something for everone.
