really enjoy coming here with my friends to have a drink, lovely atmosphere and great staff to have a chat with!!

cheapest pub on the high street ajd shows all the sports and has all the pub traditional meals fish and chips, curry, ham and egg, scampi and the owner is a sound lad

helpful staff and well run. Enjoyed the experience and will use the pub again.food was excellent and not long to wait. The landlord was a very polite gentleman and made the evening very enjoyable.

the sweetest pub in the sweetest village! the workers are absolutely lovely with prompt service and were so accommodating to me and my friends preferences with food. has ample car parking space to the side and a lovely garden with huts and heat lamps. food was cheap and delicious and a wide selection of drinks! totally recommend x

Have eaten here on many occasions in spite of dusty surroundings and unwelcoming staff who never appear to be regular and appear as if they are the customers and not staff by their very casual dress. I have always enjoyed the food and portions have been plentiful and hot when necessary. This occasion was meant to be the celebration of both mine and my husband’s birthday and we had booked the week before .Our friends have not visited this pub before but I felt uncomfortable when they remarked upon the grubby surroundings and poor , mean portions of food which was served in dribs and drabs .Not sure who was cheffing but should be able to cook fish batter properly and fry an egg instead of it slithering across the plate .None of us are great drinkers but us girls decided to treat ourselves to a glass of Prosecco and a gin based cocktail. Both arrived in inappropriate glasses -the Prosecco flat and sour and the cocktail with the zing of an aged lemonade . I notice when reading various reviews that the pub goes on the defensive if criticised and suggests that we should make our problems known at the time . But to whom I ask as no one appeared to be concerned about their customers !

Visited here last weekend 14/12/2024 Had quite a nice time ordered some food which came out promptly. Quite good pub grub. Lots of different areas to sit and an outside area complete with smoking section and warm lights for those good evenings. I would visit again. Car park down the side of the pub it is quite small but I think there maybe parking at the rear of the pub Aswell. Would recommend if your in Lindfield

Another lovely Christmas lunch at the Red Lion with my walking group. As there were 16 of us we pre-ordered our food from the set menu. The food was very good, those that had the turkey roast said it was particularly tasty. I was a little disappointed with my turkey pie; it was perfectly edible, just not as nice as last year. The service was great,as usual and the meal was very good value for money. We will be coming back for our Mid Summer lunch in July

First class food and professional service. Lovely ambiance in the perfect village pub.

The day before I asked if they were showing the rugby the next day. They said yes so I booked to watch it at the pub with my friends and family. Leaving me details with the pub. When I arrived with everyone they said they were now not going to show the rugby only the football. If they had made a mistake they could have phoned me before hand, and not told me when I arrived. Very bad customer service. It's a shame because it looked like a good pub. I won't be going back there again.

Great meal time and time again. Not always super hot however which is a shame as its the only problem I can see. Beer is good and the bogs always clean

i come to this pub every friday and often multiple times a week and always feel happy and welcome here. the bar staff are all delights and the chicken wings in any flavour + the cajun fries are actually to die for. big props to staff and management the red is my favourite place for miles ❤️❤️

The only issue we had was lack of gluton free lunch. We didn't need a meal as out in the evening. Just wanted a sandwich.

Ordered the Sunday half chicken roast. Unfortunately the chicken was extremely dried out so I could only eat part of the breast portion with the gravy. Staff were great but limited to 2 on service. They apologised for the chicken.

Went for the first time for lunch at The Red Lion in Lindfield. Very friendly staff and lunch was lovely. Pub was busy which made us think it would be a good meal and it was.

Had a lovely “leaving the country” get together with 6 friends this evening. Lovely staff and lovely food.

The food was awful. I think they are trying to recruit a chef. They did not have campari or orange.

Lovely little pub. The beer garden is beautiful to relax in during the summer time, and food is absolutely delicious. I will definitely be back.

Good place to have a meal with friends

18 of us for lunch on Tuesday 2nd. We ordered our main course in advance as there were so many of us. As usual, the food and the service were both excellent. The food was nice and hot when it came out. The choice was a little limited as we all had the set menu, but excellent value for money - just under £10 for 2 courses. We will definitely be coming back for our Christmas meal

Lovely place, we had a family meal while on holiday. All the meals were lovely. A great evening out.

The staff does a great job, really making you feel welcome and wanted. Unfortunately the food could do with some improvement. I.e. ordering a thick slice of gammon, but getting a normal/slim slice. At the same time there wasn't much flavour to either the gammon or chips.

Went in for their 3 course meal deal. The food was good and tasty and very friendly service. Came back a year later and tried the Sunday roast. Reasonably priced, although options on roasts were limited, the Beef which we chose was good.

Tom with glasses and fringe Barnet. Lovely man, good on computer, sealed the deal of £14 prosec. Great job

Parked in pub car park, sat in a lovely window seat, was a good experience

The pub is decent and overall we had a nice time, but the foul smell coming from the mens’ toilets is so strong that it is noticeable in the corridor and the seating area in the bar, closest to the toilet. It must be possible to sort this out.

Went here for a birthday in the event room at the back. The garden area is lovely and safe for kids just to play. The toilets smell are dated and the flushes don’t work. If this could be improved it would be 5*

The food was great and quick for a very busy Sunday, drinks were prompt and staff very friendly, this was for my grandaughters birthday so we were all pleasantly surprised and we will be returning as we have just moved to Lindfield.

I was at The Red on Sunday night for their Pub Quiz. It was absolutely brilliant! Soo much fun. The 2 guys that ran the quiz and the additional Bonkers Bingo were fantastic. Hilarious. Very entertaining and we are sure to return.

Only small place but very nice place to eat. Good choice on menu. Food is good. Nice staff, but only 2 working there. Has a car park round back that you can't see from front. Will go here again. Has a loyalty card with discounts.

Great food, wonderful service, in a timely manner, would high recommend to friends.

I visited here on Christmas Eve. The staff were really nice but inexperienced which isn't an issue when they struggle to find your drink but is when they cannot control those in the bar. There was a large group of young men who were smoking drugs in the garden ( you could smell it) and came in and out and threw things at each other as though in the school common room. Very concerning.

Expensive beers, bad service, cold food, and constant issues with our order. Had to remind them to send our food, and staff weren't able to explain any of the menu, not even bothering to ask the chef. Lots of food out of stock too.

The food was lovely. Proper pub food. The staff were friendly and Xav was really helpful.

The service was impeccable, the guys working behind the bar were helpful and attentive.

Had Christmas lunch here with my walking group, 16 of us. We always come here for coffee after our walk and they always open early for us. We had pre-ordered our meals as there were so many of us but this did nothing to diminish the excellent quality of the food. Everybody was very impressed with what they had chosen and I would like to put in a word for the Turkey pie: yummy. We were also impressed with the standard of service, the waiting staff were charming, chatting and laughing with the group. All in all a lovely lunch and very reasonably priced

We are moving to the area in the new year so went to check out the local pubs. Fantastic meal, service brilliant and atmosphere was fab-getting into the Christmas spirit!

We came here for Sunday lunch & had to order using a very clunky app which crashed partway through ordering. The mobile signal in the pub isn't great which didn't help. We then had to wait for 45 minutes to get our food & when it finally turned up the chips were cold. They replaced these but no apology. Tables weren't cleared & not a pleasant place for lunch.

Great little "local" pub with good service and atmosphere. The BBQ chicken wings were excellent, when partnered with the local beer.

Food was OK for what we paid, too long a gap between course's, had to gee them up a couple of times. But a pleasant pub, and a lovely large garden.

Brilliant pub. Very accommodating of SEN young adults. The only let down was, not the pubs fault, was a lady in charge of the darts team and her behaviour towards our group.

The food was quite nice, most of our party were happy with at least one part of the meal. The price was very good as was the menu choice. The staff never seemed to smile and had no friendly chat, we did feel like a bit of an inconvenience. My white wine spritzer was flat and had something floating in it. The tables were sticky and the menu had food on them. A good clean wouldn't go amiss . I won't go back next time I will return to the fox and hound haywards heath, same chain, just clean with friendly staff.
