Stopped by with my mum after a mammoth detour due to the Severn Bridge being closed. We were hungry and tired and just happened to come across this wonderful Deli. The food was absolutely wonderful, home cooked, tasty and really reasonably priced. The staff were helpful and friendly and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The deli was so relaxing with some funky old tunes playing softly in the background. Although we didn't have a look, there was also a huge garden centre next door. There are also some spacious, really clean, toilets just seconds to walk from the deli. Parking is also ample. We will most definitely be returning now. Thanks all! 😍♥️

This used to be my favourite cafe, great service and food. Lovely views and next to a great garden centre. Sadly, my last 3 visits have not been pleasant as a member of staff was vaping whilst they eat thier lunch at the tables outside. It is not nice to have to sit near the vaping smoking whilst you eat a paid for meal. Very off putting and disappointing. Unlikely to return.

What a lovely Saturday treat!!! Popped out for a few bits and bobs at millbrook garden centre Monmouth and next door was just the loveliest deli/diner so we thought we would have a spot of lunch. The staff are Friendly and honestly can't do enough for you even though they are so very busy. The food is just amazing, all home made. I highly recommend the vegetarian Lasagna, fresh, piping hot and full of lovely flavours. my hubby had the home made steak pie with chunky homemade chips, he thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. We then ordered two jam and cream scones too take away and enjoy later tonight at home as we couldn't eat another bite. All in all a lovely Saturday afternoon had. Would highly recommend this lovely refreshing deli/diner. WE WILL BE BACK!!! Xx Thank you x

Quite often use the cafe after going to Monmouth, not sure we will again. Firstly, it was difficult to find a clear table but someone was clearing. I sat at a table and the lady came to wipe it. Without saying anything she sprayed the table covering me is spray and asked whether it went on me, which it did, she replied not with an apology but telling me it wasn’t bleach so would be fine! On to the food and drinks. We waited over 30 mins for 2 cappuccinos as the guy at the counter was taking orders telling everyone they were busy, but no one was making the drinks. Our food was delivered before the drinks. My husband had a sandwich and salad which was great, my omelette was revolting, it was so overcooked it was tinged with black, it was greasy and flavourless. Absolutely would not recommend the omelette. Moral of story if we visit again go for a sandwich and cold drink and wear a Mac indoors.

Came here for lunch. Had scampi, quiche and pate. Good price and freshly cooked. Nice and airy. They used to do a really good flat white but the last couple of times we have come here they have tasted like a very weak latte; like drinking hot milk which is a shame. Otherwise very decent. Will just stick to the other drinks in the future.

Lovely home made food, friendly welcome, great location. We ordered toastie a, paninis and cheesy chips, then back to the counter as we couldn’t resist the delicious looking cakes! Prices, quality and staff all excellent. It’s on the same site as a garden centre, so shares car park and toilets. Loads of indoor and outdoor seating. Perfect for a stop off when going in/out of Wales on A40

Stopped here for lunch and pleasantly surprised. From the outside it doesn't look like much, situated on the same site as a garden centre. Inside the decor is more cafe than flash restaurant but the food is superb, with a good choice on the menu, and very reasonably priced. The home-made cakes are stunningly good. And to cap it off, the staff could not be nicer. A perfect place to stop for tea and cakes, lunch etc.

We ordered our food a full English breakfast , eggs Benedict and two drinks at 10 15 am . The drinks arrived immediately and the food just before 11am ! We finished our drinks half an hour before ! The muffins were burnt black and the hollandaise sauce tasted as though it was from a packet the breakfast was okay but not worth the wait. Service was very poor with no communication. Didn't even ask if everything was okay. Only one other couple having coffee so not as though they were busy !

On Monday 6th July with Wales just opening after the Covid lockdown my friend Chris and myself had ridden thirty hilly miles on our road bikes and in need of a coffee and food to help get us back to Garway. Turning into the car park the Diner was clearly undergoing some building works ready to open on the Tuesday ( which we were unaware as we had not looked up opening times ) We must have looked in need of sustenance as the very helpful lady advised us they were closed which was fine, but then offered to make us a coffee :-) Well what a star she turned out to be,not only did this kind lady bring out two coffees but a huge slice of Carrot cake and a equally huge slice of Victoria sponge. I explained we had a debit card to pay and only a £5.00 note electrical taped to my mobile phone ! With no card payment available she took the £5.00 and seemed happy with the deal. Wow , the coffee alone was worth this and the cake was awesome. Fully stuffed we struggled out of Monmouth ( uphill towards Garway ) grateful for the service we have had. We will be back again ( when you are open ;-) and happy to pay full price this time around. Many thanks, the two hungry looking cyclists.

I have visited The Red Door Deli regularly for lunch ever since it opened. However over the last few visits the standard of the meals has deteriorated. The lasagne used to be my favourite but it has been very poor so today I thought I would try their Homemade Chicken Curry instead. It was so bad I could not eat it. The curry was sweet and gluey. Lots of chicken but it was chewy like leather. There is no way it was homemade. Even their chips are poor overcooked and reheated. I used to sing their praises and recommend going there to friends. But now I shall have to find somewhere else for lunch. Such a shame. Maybe they have changed hands or got a new chef.

Been to this cafe many times over the years and usually had a good experience. I dont know if it has changed hands recently but visited today with wife for lunch and the quality of food has gone badly downhill. Cheese and ham ploughmans arrived with one small piece of rubbery, tasteless 'cheddar' and slices of ham that were full of fat/gristle and mostly inedible. In the middle of the plate, on top of the ham and salad, was a small pot of beetroot slices - any bacteria on the sides/bottom of the pot would have transfered straight to the food !! Two small mounds of pickle and four micro pickled onions also accompanied the offering. My wifes cheese omelette also came, presumably made with the same cheese as on my plate, as it was tasteless and totally unseasoned. I returned my ploughmans to the counter and said I couldnt eat it due to above reasons. I was offered an alternative choice and picked cheese/mushroom omelette, which tasted OK (due to the mushrooms) but when finishing I noticed it had been served on top of half a cooked chip and small pieces of carrot from a salad - neither of which had been ordered. This indicated to me that the plate it was served on was either not washed or it had been put on the plate using implements that were used for other food. The general cleanliness around the inside of the cafe had also deteriorated and we wont be returning again in a hurry. No proper apology or refund given.

Called in for a quick coffee with some elderly friends. On ordering at the counter we requested one dairy free coffee, the young gentleman appeared confused. We explained that we could not have cows milk. He explained its OK the lactose has been removed from the cows milk. He appeared completely confused by this request of non-dairy. So purchased a black coffee. However, we sat down in a bright and clean seating area, only to wait around 15 minutes for drinks to arrive. When they did the young lady managed to knock the tea pot and pour a small amount of boiling water onto one of the groups leg. No apology was given. We had the drinks and left. Not to return again!

Received appalling service from the female blonde member of staff who blamed us for a mix up with the order. Her colleague even told her to calm down at one point as she was getting quite heated. I have never been treated so badly by anyone, as every other establishment adheres to the notion of "the customer is always right". At no point were we rude to her or act in a manner deserving of her appalling treatment. As a result I took my money back and left, I refuse to give my business after being spoken to so badly! We only ordered a toasted tea cake and Eggs Benedict; the tea cake was burnt and the eggs, quite frankly, unpleasant, with some kind of watery instant hollandaise and no ham or bacon at all. I did let them know, and again they were very pleasant, refunding me for the tea cake and explaining 'that's how [she'd] always made eggs benedict', but I wouldn't be too keen to return. Thanks to Google Maps, we found this place. We planned to lunch in Monmouth as it was on the way to our next stop, but there was so much traffic getting into the city that we decided to drive around it, and en route was this lovely place. Very easy to find, just look out for the sign! It's a restaurant sharing a parking lot with a garden centre, and loos are across the car park from both. The kitchen closes at 3pm, so a tad later than most pubs closing at 2.30pm for late lunchers. The menu included a range of different things to float your boat, we had a lasagne and a chicken curry, both home made. This was followed by organic ice cream sundae with rich toffee sauce and a chocolate flake. Nom nom nom. This food was excellent. There was also a lot of options for drinks, from tea to fancy lemonade to locally sources cider. We wanted to try everything!Minimum card payment is £5.

We have been using the tea rooms in Millbrook Garden Centre for as long as I can remember its always been good value and a lovely setting. Over the last few years it has been taken over and become the Red Door Deli and Diner. After a refurbishment of the interior and a new menu it has taken the old tea rooms into the 21st century. The atmosphere is as friendly as the old tea rooms but it’s now much more upmarket. The menu has the usual stables like jackets, sandwiches etc and the specials which are really very good. The "Red Door Scramble" and mixture of chorizo potatoes and vegetables in an omelette mix and the "Red Door rarebit" are particular favourites of mine as they are not run of the mill dishes.I last visited when my daughter and we had to go and pick something up from the garden centre so took the opportunity to call in and have lunch together. My only gripe would be that the coffee is served in small cups and there is no opportunity to have anything bigger. Overall very good value, a wonderful setting especially if it's sunny and you can find a table outside and a lovely setting within 2 minutes of Monmouth town centre. If you're going to Millbrook Garden Centre you really must call in and try it for yourself.I read with horror the comments about the cyclists not being welcome on Sunday lunch times as I think the diversity of the customers including the cyclists gives the Red Door its charm. I hope they see sense and find a way to accommodate these as well as the other customers.

My partner and I made a stop here totally at random when out for a drive and I felt that the service provided needs to be commented on and most definitely praised. The solicitous staff and warm welcome was only outstripped by the beautifully cooked food. The door was opened for us on arrival and we were welcomed with a smile and greeting. Nothing was too much trouble for the young lady who served us and she even insisted in carrying my drinks to the table of my choosing. We were allowed plenty of time to decide upon what we wanted to eat and this was presented in a timely fashion, again with good grace. The price is reasonable considering the tasty fayre offered. It is so rare to find such outstanding customer service in this day and age; here at the Red Door Deli you will find this in abundance. Having read previous comments regarding cyclists, I confess to being shocked as when we were in attendance, there were two tables of cyclists, all having a pleasant time, (I think), with no sign of discrimination. Will definitely visit again when in the area!

I had always had a fine beans on toast and very nice coffee here.. Our cycling club has received an email from the owners pointing out that cyclists are no longer welcome on Sundays at lunchtime. The tone of the email has made us feel generally unwelcome. Not very good customer relations! Sorry but won't be visiting again.

I ordered supposedly home made broccoli and stilton soup. When it arrived after 15 mins it tasted like the sort you buy from your local supermarket.I can confirm this because it gave me a form of indigestion!

Some while since we visited and so found a change of ownership and management.Firstly, it looks so much more inviting, themed red, but, you guessed that.Table service is new here and it was unobtrusively good.We chose tea to drink, a good blend, china pot , which was clean and did not drip; hurrah! Our food was cooked to order so we had a wait, but not too long.We tried the welsh Rarebit, which came on two thick slices of bread, white or brown option. It was not toasted quite enough for my taste and there could have been more sauce, but, it was good. The accompanying salad was properly prepared but undressed. On request we were offered a choice of honey and mustard or balsamic. The former was a bit too intrusive but at least in came ina little pot, not the dreaded satchet.A very good plateful, for £4.95, darn good value. We shall return, but, it's is more of a snack than a main meal venue , so far, althogh they are dabbling with evening opening for Christmas lunches. Oh, there;s an OAP deal on certain days.Free parking, no bustle!!

I recently spent a month in a rented cottage near Monmouth. I think it was the third or fourth day of my vacation that I spotted the Red Door Deli and Diner at the Millbrook Garden Centre. It was a little tucked away from the road but looked very clean and pleasant so I thought I would give it a try. That was the first of many visits there over the next few weeks. I usually went for morning coffee and pastries. They have an excellent choice of the latter and their coffee is superb. It's a great alternative to trying to find somewhere in Monmouth for coffee and the parking is free!

I won't say I'm a regular but I do drop in often enough to have a couple of favourite items from the cake counter! I can recommend the eccles cakes, and if you're lucky to see the caramel flapjack then go for it!The coffee and tea are very good and the staff are kind enough to provide a glass of tap water to go with the coffee if it's warm day. They've also been kind enough not to shout at us when we turn up dripping wet from cycling there. Cyclists are made very welcome and it's probably my favourite cafe stop in the area.

Reasonably extensive menu, locally sourced good quality food served by friendly staff. Good range of options for most tastes with both a pleasant aspect and atmosphere.

I went to the Red Door Cafe with a friend after visiting the Garden centre where they are based. They have an extensive menu with pretty much something for everyone. The food was cooked really well and nicely presented with helpful staff. When I ordered our meal I paid for tea saying we would have it after our meal and as we finished without having to ask for the tea a waitress brought it to our table. There are plenty of tables inside and out.

Based on reviews and a visit to their website, we chose The Red Door as a half way meeting point with family from S Wales. Disappointed. They've made a really good job of making the building really fresh and inviting, staff were friendly and service efficient but the let down was the food. After viewing the website we'd excepted a selection of deli food but it was pretty basic cafe grub with very little choice for our veggie daughter. I had a mixed platter which was around £9 for very little. Other half had the pasta and I've seen much larger child portions - minuscule. There is plenty of seating, inside and out but once outside you are basically sitting in the garden centre car park. There's a lesson here in marketing. If this had been advertised as just a garden centre cafe it may have been closer to expectations but the website promises much more than is actually delivered.

I'm a regular customer of the Deli and always come away satisfied. The staff are friendly, the cakes are mouthwatering and I feel they serve the best coffee in the area. If you are looking for a non-chain establishment this is the place to come to!

We live just down the road from the Diner and we both work long hrs and now and then like a Breakfast on a light lunch. Over the years we have tried many cafes and pubs locally and since the Diner has opened we have been there many times. The Breakfast is very good and cooked fresh we also love the Tuna doorsteps that they serve at lunch times. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful and they also have daily news papers for you to read. Sometimes if they are busy you will have to wait a little longer as all food is made fresh for you, but then that can be expected in any place if they are busy.... Allan & Mandy.

Despite having lived in Monmouth for 9 years and a regular Millbrook visitor I decided not to head off to my preferred garden centre lunch venue at Raglan and try the Red Door. On another day I may have come away with a different impression. Today was busy but not overly so, with lunchtime tables available inside and out. We had a 30 minute wait for 2 sandwiches and chips. Drinks however came straightaway. Sadly the bread was dry, the bacon in the BLT chewy and despite a polite reminder, no vinegar appeared for the chips. It looks a good spot and seems to feature well in Best in Monmouth so we'll have to try again and hope for better results. Certainly it's a popular spot and easy parking.

A bit out of the way - in the Millbrook Garden Centre. Cakes all seem home made, tea and coffee hot and well made and service is always with a smile. A range of lunches are on offer although we have not eaten there so cannot comment on their quality although they look jolly good!!

This Diner is situated in a Garden Centre and as we had not had breakfast, decided to try it.The bacon was thick and delicious, eggs soft and runny, with a golden yolk and everything else that goes with a cooked breakfast, was cooked to perfection. It's a small place, but they can cater for larger parties(busloads?) in a separate room. Everywhere was spotless and bright and the people couldn't have been more helpful and even suggested places to visit locally. We were staying at a Travelodge about 3 miles away, with nowhere to eat nearby, but a pub (not great), so we breakfasted here for four days and each day the food standard was high.If we are ever in the area again, we will definately be eating here.

Chucking it down with rain on a Wednesday lunchtime Auberge looked welcoming. Not disappointed. Welcome was genuine, reasonable beer, superb welsh ham and egg for a great price. Great pub grub and service at a good price. Would come back again

Large bright and airy, that sums this place up really. Great disabled access too. Excellent staff very friendly and welcoming. Lots of indoor seating. The food is not very much more than Greggs price wise but way better quality you can't go wrong.

Due to stay here after a gig in the castle on the 17th of August. The day before, had a message to say that our room we were due to stay in had been flooded, and no other rooms were available. This had been booked since January, so why it was specifically “our”designated room I have no idea. Multiple attempts at contacting them by phone have failed. No other hotel rooms available in Chepstow at such short notice, and has resulted in us having to book a hotel out of the area and booking taxis there and back, so a lot of extra expense. Highly suspicious and extremely poor customer service. Think twice before booking here folks

A big thank you to the staff Marcus and Sophie. Marcus went out of the way to help me organise something and was so helpful. The breakfast is decent, but good value for money as kids eat free.
