Love this cafe. It is run by the friendliest people, the food is amazing and the vibe is low key and laid back. This is definitely one of our new favourite places to eat. Great breakfasts too!

The food was nice enough but unbelievably rude staff. They were rude the last time we went but we thought maybe having a bad day. But as they were rude (and not just to our table) this time as well, we won’t be returning. If you don’t like people dont work in hospitality!

Solo diner betwixt satuday breakfast and lunch. Funky space in the old industrial area of town. Mix of locals and (rah rah) visitors. Very busy; staff were a bit overwhelmed but professional. Ordering protocol is a bit unclear as a first timer but all sorted. The meal was underwhelming - but great coffee! All in all a good experience, and I'll return, but i think if it was less busy, things would be better.

Very, very unusual place , quirky doesn't cover it. Interesting cobweb collection. Having said that the bacon sandwiches were the best ever. Visiting the toilets is an experience in itself. Not sure how they passed the hygiene inspection, but if you are not too fussy, it is quite fun!

Excellent is not a high enough grading. This place is exceptional on so may levels restaurants or cafes in trendy places would love to emulate it. The Red Brick Cafe copies nobody it is a gem you must visit but please follow the rules and you will be in for a treat/experience. Number one CASH ONLY. Do not moan you cannot pay with your phone the Red Brick Cafe is unique go to Costa in the high street if the method of payment is your priority. Number two. Very limited opening hours just 10-2 Wednesday to Sunday and Friday evening 6-10. Number three. You do not have a menu at the table it is all written on a chalk board by the stairs and as it is all sold out it is chalked off. In other words it will be a bit hit and miss and the menu will be limited. If you want a massive choice always available go to other restaurants and cafes serving straight from the freezer! Number four. Be prepared for a lot of people in close proximity if you are inside and particularly if it is raining. Some shared tables people queuing to pay and look at the menu. Number five it is not cheap but quality food cannot be cheap. Do not go and then say it was expensive if you want cheap go to McDonalds. Go and embrace a truly different cutting edge Cafe that does great food with a vibe that fits in perfectly with Bridport as a place.

Only take cash so had to go on a bit of a hike to get to a cash point. Limited menu (fine) but not all options available (not do fine as early lunchtime). Chips ok, salad seemed like it had been made the day before. Looked great and wanted to like it but just felt a bit unprofessional and mediocre.

Bridport has lots of shops, cafes, restaurants that work hard at being "quirky", "off the wall", "hey, we're a bit crazy" - and they are usually none of these things. The Red Brick Cafe doesn't have to work hard at it , because it does it effortlessly - ate there tonight (Persian themed food - I think most Friday evenings are themed, but can't be sure) Food was fresh, tasty, generous and served without a single "have a nice day". Because it's Bridport there's lots of stuff about the provenance of the food, ethics, etc - but it's done with a light, genuine touch. The coffee is excellent. Expect to share a table of an evening, but during the daytime there's a pleasant covered garden area to the side. I will continue to go back!

Wonderful gem in the heart of Bridport Latin Quarter. Fantastic time transporting atmosphere of the 80s art cafés, very relaxing yet stimulating. And the food is truly and wholesomely tasty and brings together the best of the world cuisines. Good music coming out of speakers too! Somebody mentioned a try-hard feel…well, they indeed did try hard and in order to accommodate COVID restrictions managed to create an alternative outside space with a twist. Unlike most places that just put up marquees, the Red Brick cafe created their own unique space reminiscent of an ancient eco bubble filled with rustic tables and plants and and pots and more. Particularly love their imaginative wood+concrete walls. All feels as if it has always been there… Will be back again and again…👍🏼

Went along for brunch with family today on a recommendation. Food and setting was fantastic but I ended up interacting a couple of times with a sour faced senior staff member that put us all off returning. The other members of the team were great , the young waitress forgot our drinks but was apologetic and very friendly but when a senior staff member walks round scowling the whole time and then refuses my wife use of the loo at the end of the mea as they were closing it takes the shine off. Great food , mostly very nice staff - just keep this one away from the public until they understand that without customers they won’t survive.

This cafe tries hard and it could be better. The food (breakfast) was mediocre - sausage under cooked, items missing from order, took a long time to arrive. The cafe is laid out in a rustic garden style and while good also has a bit of a try-hard feel. We weren't greeted with any real warmth. The individual waitresses were nice and did their best but the cafe was too-in-love-with-itself to really put the customer first. On a positive note there was a big, happy orange cat dozing on the landing.

It’s been quite some time since we had such a good supper. Rather inauspicious surroundings - effectively at the back of a trading estate next to the river. All the seating when we visited was outside but under cover. Had a cosy table in the corner. Was also very busy/full. The menu was very simple with around 4 or 5 main courses to choose from. Opted for the lamb kebab and the burger. The lamb came with flatbread, salad, delicious onion salad, hand cut chips and a pear and blue cheese salad. All on one plate - but delicious. They do lunches and breakfast. Will certainly return.

Homemade hummus, home cut (English style) chips, and salad. Friends had beans on toast, which according to the 7 year old “shouldn’t have been faffed with” - they’d had salt and pepper put on Other meals were salad and sausage sandwiches- the salad bowls are generous!

I ought to get over to the Red Brick more often, but as it’s a few hundred yards from home and there’re plenty of good eateries in between, laziness usually gets the better of me... But a weekend visit from a friend from out of town who’s eaten there, on and off, over the years took three of us off for beakfast on the wettest Sunday morning in Bridport for weeks and weeks. Normally the Red Brick isn’t open on Sundays except for the monthly ‘vintage’ market - and then it’s usually packed, although on a nice day you can sit outside. Well, you could’ve sat outside the day we visited but (a) you’d have got rather damp, and (b) there was plenty of room inside, the market consisting of about one stall.... Our reward for making the effort was an excellent veggie breakfast each, generous portions without leading to any waste (this is a very right-on establishment without being in any way up itself!), and all for a very reasonable £8.50 (for the food). The hummity pie was particularly tasty. My only gripe is that they’ve never had an espresso machine, but the coffee is good and strong, so I forgive them.

This is tucked away in the Antiques and Art quarter of Bridport, and we visited during Dorset Art Weeks. It is a delightfully quirky little red brick house with a mish mash of furniture and crockery. The menu is interesting and cheap (£5 for dahl and rice), but service is ever so slightly chaotic. They had run out of de-caf coffee. We sat outside in the garden to the side of the building - this really needs some attention! It could be lovely, but it is full of weeds and rubbish. Our food was brought out by friendly staff, and it was nicely presented. I could have done with a bit more heat, but that's a matter of taste. I love this place. Its food is as bright and bold as its handpainted sign and made with equal artistic flair. In an area which pats itself on the back for being 'foodie' the Red Brick stands out for offering by far the most imaginative, locally sourced and seasonal fare served with generosity and unpretentious charm. At lunchtime visits I know I should be adventurous and try the specials but can't tear myself away from my all time favourite comfort food of their garlicky hummus and the best chips you will have ever tasted, served up on random pretty plates with a side of cleverly combined salads. In the afternoon you can linger undisturbed with a mug of tea (tea bag dunked to your own liking) and slice of delicious home-baked cake, often gluten free. Friday evenings are an all together more raucous affair, when the whole cafe comes alive with infectious chatter, laughter and sometimes live music. Bring your own bottle for a small corkage charge, sit on shared tables with other happy guests and enjoy the most amazing, flavour packed set menus, so even the dilemma of choice is taken away from you - a perfect way to relax into the weekend.

Casual and friendly would have been ok but when we arrived last night having managed to book a table there was no welcome at all. When I phoned to book I was told they could only book if I wanted a party of 5 or more. I managed to persuade them to accept a booking for 4. She said it would be ok as long as we arrived at 6.45. We were placed on a tiny table. Hardly anyone else came into the restaurant as it seemed no other tables had been booked. The food was reasonable for me, as a vegetarian but my husband had a lamb dish that was very fatty. This place cultivates the casual and folksy atmosphere and I totally get the idea but it only works if you are very friendly which they just weren't.....sorry but we won't be coming back.

Who knows but it was delicious!) and good solid fat chips. All washed down with a cracking cuppa tea. Was very pleasantly surprised to find this lovely cafe in the heart of the antique and vintage area in Bridport. Do yourself a favour and give it a go! Great food and atmosphere.

This quirky little place is an absolute gem which is hidden down the back lanes of Bridport. The food is great even though we were only there for a light lunch. My cousin and I had baguettes filled with sausages with onions for me and mushrooms for him. They were proper fresh baguettes and not those frozen part baked ones which you get in some places. My wife had the soup of the day which was real home made and which was so thick you could nearly stand a spoon up in it. Don't go there if you want fancy surroundings but DO go there if you like very well cooked, good food. You may have to queue as a lot of locals go there and as it is a small place it can be crowded.

Hidden away near the Brit on the St Michaels Estate. All food is home cooked. Very reasonable. A bit rustic but then most people are around here!

This place is such a hidden gem. We had lattes and raw cake and both were wonderful. Good value for money too, we were not disappointed.

I love this place.if you want fine dining and silver service or equally bland food microwaved from the freezer then this place is not for you. The red brick is a wonderful cafe, boho and perhaps a little shabby chique. Odd benches and tables and coloured stools fill the cafe and water is held is a large enamel jug with metal cups. The food bar is covered in fresh herbs, vegan brownies, polenta cakes and local apple juice. The chalk board displays the food selection of Dahl, falafel, and local sausages in a baguette with caramelised onions (my kids loved this). The staff are warm and friendly. They really love the place ans the food and serving the people. Chilled out world music plays in the back ground. Tables are set outside and a lovely outside garden area has been opened up around the side.It is located in the area of bridport which is filled with vintage shops, all which have taken over the old redbrick trading estate. An interesting place to wander around and then pop into the cafe to drink a fresh mint tea and people watch.

I stumbled across this cafe when on a day trip to Bridport. What a find! Really great venue and atmosphere and the food was incredible too. Very reasonable prices for large, tastey portions. They were kind enough to let me us the staff toilet, also. Hoping to visit again soon!

This cafe is located on the St Michaels Trading Estate by the river Brit. Very down to earth interior with benches and odd chairs. Food prepared freshly by local ladies. Very fair prices. Some live music. Ethnic surroundings. Unpretentious.

This cafe is at the back of the antiques and second hand area of Bridport. The whole area has a cool vibe akin to trendy spots in Brighton or London. The Red Brick fits in nicely and is a rustic wholefoods cafe offering simple tasty food. A warm welcome. Great brownies. An interesting alternative to all the chains.

This is a special place. If you love whole, organic food, produced very locally, and to know you are supporting local producers, The Red Brick Cafe is an essential part of your eating experience in Bridport. It is a privilege to have this here.Neither the surroundings nor the food are pretentious, just down-home, honest, and always utterly delicious. Served with love and care - if it's quality you want, at a price that is reasonable, I fully recommend this. It's not all vegetarian either - something for everyone. Yum. This review is dated August 2016, but we have been enjoying their food ever since they opened - for years.

We visited for a light lunch. My wife had the unusual combination of hummus and chips with salad and I opted for Dahl with rice. A different experience, my wife enjoyed hers and the salad definitely looked good. My Dahl and rice was uninspired by comparison, not much colour of taste and the rice wasn't that well cooked. Not withstanding that it is a venue we both like and will return too. Its got character and is run by lovely people.

We had an incredible experience at the Cross Keys. Mo and his team hosted my Father's funeral wake yesterday. The whole experience was incredible - made so special by Mo, Lucy, David and the girls. Nothing was too much trouble, and we felt completely wrapped up in their arms from the moment we walked through the door to make the arrangements, right through to the day itself. I cannot thank the team enough for creating such a special celebration, which you planned so incredibly well. The delicious food platters were superb, and all the guests said what a beautiful venue it was. I was personally nurtured throughout the whole day, with Mo and Lucy checking in with me to make sure everything was perfect - and even David coming in on his day off to make sure my Dad's favourite music was being played. I can't thank them all enough from the bottom of my heart for all their kindness. We stayed in their family suite for the night. Our room was superb, with the biggest bed I've ever slept in, and beautiful views out onto the market square and the Conduit. I can thoroughly recommend a stay at the Cross Keys - the service is exceptional, the rooms amazing, and the breakfast was superb. We also had our evening meal in the restaurant, and it was exceptional. THANK YOU TO THE WHOLE TEAM AT THE CROSS KEYS - YOU ARE ALL AMAZING.

We came with friends as we had all been gifted afternoon tea, and chose to visit this tearoom. We booked just over a week in advance. What a great choice! A great selection of beautifully fresh finger sandwiches, scones, cream and jam. and a selection of small cakes, which were so light. Absolutely scrumptious. We weren't rushed, so we could sit and enjoy our food. The folk working in the tearoom were very welcoming and we had a delightful afternoon. Thank you!
