Had the Grazing Menu, excellent value and delicious. Very welcoming , friendly and efficient service and nice an warm on a rainy October day. Looking forward very much to our next visit.

Midweek 2 course special lunch for £12 is good value but ouch £3.50 for tea was a shock. Friendly atmosphere and new tenants are doing a grand job.

Loved a truly English country pub. My scampi was more batter than scampi, but the homemade tartar sauce is devine and made up for it. Dinner menu looked truly imaginative, we can hardly wait to try it. Service welcome is truly a home feeling, best of all music was almost inaudible so you can have a conversation. Such old, traditional pubs shouldn't have any music, to evoke times gone by. Here they got the right balance.

As someone who is gluten intolerant / coeliac - I struggle to find decent restaurants that offer a variety of GF options. I get fed up with comments like we can make it GF but you won't have x, y and z and therefore won't experience the meal as intended. The Raven has a quite different approach. Many (if not most) of their starters, main meals and desserts are made GF right from the get-go and for me that deserves applause. They also have meals that are DF, V and VG too. (Thankfully, they don't subscribe to the otherwise common theory of having that just 'one dish' on their offerings that is a vegan, dairy free, gluten free, nut free - that is also taste free and clearly a bought in product to try and earn them a label for recognising dietary requirements). The Chicken fillet with lazy potatoes dish is sublime and so very moreish you will definitely want to lick the plate clean at the end. I followed this up with their GF Salted Caramel Cheesecake and ice-cream -which was also stunning. The hardest decision is struggling to decide what I wanted to eat from so many GF options. The bar is stocked with plenty of choice (including cask beers) but also GF beers, including GF 6X and GF NON-ALC Ciders. The staff are all super friendly and the food is top notch, quality and is clearly freshly cooked. This is certainly not a fast-food joint, this is quality food lovingly prepared and elegantly presented.

Great food. I am gluten free and there is a wide range of gluten free options. Friendly service and nice atmosphere. I had the chick pea and butternut curry which was delicious, hubby had veal, which he seemed to enjoy. New owners are really friendly and nothing is too much trouble. You do need to book a few days ahead as it fills up. Highly recommend.

Met up with Aussie friends with 3 dogs between us. Had lunch in the bar area. Dog treats are available, water brought for the dogs, and such a friendly team. Just a pity that the Gents is behind a hedge!! Go figure. Superb lunch and reasonably priced. Do hope to return.

Had dinner again at The Raven last night and it was the best pub meal I’ve had for a very long time. The new landlord is welcoming and helpful. The menu is interesting with some different dishes to the usual pub grub. My husband had the venison steak for the second time and couldn’t fault it. I had the lamb kebabs with Greek salad which was really tasty. Beer and wine also very good. All the staff were great and there is a nice atmosphere. Will definitely be returning.

Absolutely fantastic dinner this evening, the food was beyond delicious, really tasty. Great service and you can tell the new owners really care about turning this pub into a great place to be. We wish them well and we will absolutely return as so much choice on the menu to try.

Down for the weekend with a small group of friends, so pleased we ended up booking dinner at The Raven. The food was excellent without exception, from the black pudding scotch eggs and baked goats cheese starters though the various main course of venison, fish and chips, salmon (great sauce) and duck we tried between us. Too full to try the desserts, but the service was excellent, with a smile even when one of our number thought she was in some posh London joint and asked for Baby Guinness cocktails at the end, which challenged the barman somewhat!😆

I was impressed with the pre Christmas lunch that we had at the Raven in December 2022. Good amount of food at a reasonable price. Pleasant waitresses. Returned again this year with our group for a post Christmas meal and all good again. Nice to be able to stay and chat for a while after our meal and not be pressurised to leave. The quality of the Wadworths 6X beer was also excellent. Hope to return next year if not before. I believe they have a farm shop nearby which I hope to visit next time.

We visited this evening to sample the delicious looking Christmas menu, and that it was! Between us all, we had all of the main course selections and they were all beautifully presented, heaps of flavour with the meat and fish cooked to perfection. Dessert was top tier too! Wonderful service, in an intimate setting. This is our second visit and again, has been a wonderful experience. Thank you ❤️

Tough steak, so much crammed on the plate you couldn't see what you were eating. Whitebait starter very greasy but lovely draught cider.

Food was great, lovely farm fed beef which was perfectly cooked, I especially enjoyed the pie and my husband loved the beef burger 😋. The waitresses were fab and were very helpful. The barman was very chatty and lovely however he smelt of cigarettes which was unappetising over dinner. Would overall recommend for the delicious meal in a cosy scenic pub

We Came to The Raven for lunch with a small group of friends, 3 of us had the special of gammon kale, roasted peaches which sounded exotic, all three meals arrived with no peaches, the gammon was of decent size & looked free ranged, but also looked pink, the fat wasn't rendered, it was unappetising, and poorly cooked I asked the staff, about the absence of the peaches, and they'd been forgotten, the waitress eventually, bought us over a bowl of what looked like poached then griddled peaches, (no resemblance of them being roasted), i couldn't eat my meal and returned it, in exchange for a cold un heated dry cheese & ham panini, a disappointing meal, shame a nice spot with good parking, but won't be returning

We’ve driven past The Raven so many times… so at last, we visited. Oh! What we have missed! We had such a good evening. The landlady is so welcoming. The atmosphere warm and friendly and the food: utterly delicious. Three of us had the scrumptious steak frites the fourth in our group had the steak pie. We all enjoyed our perfectly cooked food. Puddings were equally delicious and we all departed perfectly satisfied and well fed. Thank you.

Great food, generous portions, and good selection of food and cask ales. Friendly and welcoming staff, large garden and plenty of space inside and out. We will definitely go there again, and would highly recommend.

We were staying locally with a large group of friends and our accommodation recommended the Raven Inn for lunch. We had varied dietary requirements, so I called ahead and Lynn and the team couldn’t have been more helpful! The chef arranged a vegan and gluten free menu for those that needed it, and the food overall was amazing! I had the steak frites and can highly recommend. If we lived nearer, we’d definitely become locals! Thanks Lynn and team.

What can we say?! As soon as we arrived at this pub - which was plucked at random from a book of recommended eateries in the area we were staying at - we were made to feel so welcome. We booked a table for the second evening as we didn’t want to go anywhere else. Fabulous “different” dishes on the menu. Highly recommend the steak fritt ! My husband had this on both nights! I had the steak and 6X ale pie with mash and peas the first night. A proper homemade full-of-steak-and-ale pie! The mash was ‘proper’ buttery mash. Really scrumptious. Second evening I had the chargrilled chicken breast with black garlic and charred leek purée, and potato fondant. Very tasty and filling. Desserts : tried the lemon meringue tart with raspberry sorbet and raspberries. Was just enough and very tasty. Second night had the biscoff sundae- delumptious! Not too sickly. Just right. The landlady “Lynne - with an E” - is an amazing lady with a wealth of stories to tell about the history of the pub and the village, and absolutely hilarious with it. She has run the pub for 35 years. Lovely too were waitresses Maisie/Maisey/Maisy (apologies, not sure of the spelling) and Lynne’s daughter, Hannah. We had such a laugh and lots of conversation. Will definitely be going back there when we visit next July! This pub needs to stay open forever. Just how a “local” should be. We both were made to feel like locals - although we live in Cornwall. Highly recommended and w little gem of a pub . Thank you Lynne and team ❤️

The menu is fairly limited, but that normally means that it's freshly cooked rather than food that is bought in and reheated. The menu is the same for lunch and dinner, the staff are friendly and the food was tasty.

I hear that the lease for the Raven is up for sale. I am not surprised. The menu has hardly changed in 2 years. The choice is minimal and even more so if your a pescitarian. I used to love going to our local pub for a meal on Saturday evenings, when Sue and Philip were the landlords, and more so when Natalie and Jerry were there. Sadly its been a cunalary downward slide since then. After not visiting for nearly a year. I reluctantly booked a table about a month ago and chose Fish and chips from the minimal menu. What arrived had more old dry batter on it than fish. It must have been in the freezer for a while. I showed the lovely waitress and asked her opinion on the meal. Her comment was " that really is not good enough is it " After a 10 minuet wait a fresh meal arrived, which was acceptable. Why not the first time round. Who sent this excuse for battered fish out of the kitchen. Come back Natalie and Jerry 🙏 We alternativly visit most of the local pubs for a meal on a Saturday evening, and there are better menu,s on offer than the Raven. I look forward to the Raven getting back to the pub we know and love.

This is a wonderful traditional country pub with a small, yet perfectly formed, menu serving great homemade food in mighty generous portions. The beef here is amazing quality, and is the real star of the show (well actually Lynne, the Landlady is - but I am talking gastronomically here !!) Love the fact the pub is now owned by the local farm so the beef is literally from farm to fork. Our farmers should be supported ! Thank you to Lynne and the team for such lovely and fun service. This pub is definitely worth “Raven” about !

What an all round great pub, from the welcoming outside into the bar with friendly and attentive staff. Great menu with food that didn't disappoint. This is a pub to be recommended. All this and dog friendly too.

This place saved us on Saturday night as we moored up late at a nearby marina way after 8pm when they officially stopped serving food. I called the legend that is Lynne and she said she would get us fed if we got a move on. A half hour walk later we turned up soaked through and ravenous and Lynne made sure we all had a drink in our hand and 4 of their incredible cheeseburgers! The food was great, the atmosphere was warm and inviting - and the banter from Lynne was top drawer! A massive thanks to Lynne, the chef and the rest of the staff for ensuring our night wasn't a write-off! Highly recommended! See Lynne - I told you I'd write a good review. We were only in the area for a few days and saw The Raven pub had very good reviews on Trip Advisor. We only stopped for a drink on the first night - but have to say partner said it was ONE OF THE BEST PINTS OF 6X he had ever tasted. Just to make absolutely sure - we decided to have dinner at the pub a few nights later - just a word of warning - the pub is so popular it would be very sensible to pre-book your table - the 6X was excellent again. Dinner was great - thoroughly enjoyed the pub and if ever in the area again will definitely return - a real community pub with a great atmosphere.

We’d tried several pubs on our way home and this was our last before getting back to campsite and facing ordering a takeaway!What a pleasant surprise to be greeted by such a friendly barman and a chatty waitress who adored our dog!Menu was varied although nothing vegan. Food was well cooked and generally we were pleased with the C-19 in place to protect us and the staff. Would visit again.

We lunched here with friends. The initial welcome was friendly. Despite 2 people working behind the bar it took 10 minutes to get our drinks - including a reminder after 5 minutes. The pub did not seem particularly busy. The menu has the usual pub staples plus a pie of the day. One of us chose Fish cakes and was not happy at all, comparing them to the taste of Paxo stuffing! 2 chose wild boar burgers and were unimpressed, I chose a Mediterranean roast vegetable tart which arrived with salad and chips. It was not very nice. We passed on puddings. The service was poor.The bill for the above together with 5 diet cokes and a half of beer was £76. Needless to say - we shall not be returning.

From an extensive menu my wife and I each chose a different pie, both of which were superb with plenty of meat, excellent pastry, well cooked and flavoursome.. For desert we chose the lemon and ginger cheesecake, which is 'to die for' with exquisite taste and consistency. Service was friendly, attentive and most helpful involving several trips to the garden where we were sitting.We are only sorry that we are now living slightly further away but despite this will certainly be returning at every opportunity.Being 'picci', my only criticism is that there was no hand-dryer in the Gents which is easily remedied.

A quick dog walk decision, Sunday lunch booked with friends.Cannot fault the delicious Sunday lunch at The Raven. Beautifully cooked meats, plenty of tasty vegetables. Homemade Yorkshire puds. 10/10 Just enough room for desert, apple and cinnamon sponge. Next time will be trying the starters. A great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Delicious.I was full, but could not resist Eton Mess to finish off.The Covid restrictions are in place, but in no way do they detract from your dining experience.Well done to Kate and your staff

Had a wonderful supper at the Raven last night. Just reopening after lock down. All very organised and staff super helpful. Lovely menu and all excellent. Would highly recommend.

It was lovely to visit The Raven again - open after lockdown and under new management. The atmosphere was very friendly and cordial. The menu was fine - about 5 starters and 5 main courses with about 4 or 5 specials. The pudding menu had 4 choices. We had steak and 6x ale pie which was excellent - piping hot with plenty of tender, lean beef and very thin pastry. The service throughout was excellent and the level of hospitality really tip-top. Covid hygiene and distancing regulations were maintained well by all staff. For a pub that’s only been open about a week, it was very impressive.

Having started going there last year with the family I was looking forward to the reopening, as I found the place great. All the best in retirement Steve and Yvonne

Booked a table for 1.30pm Drinks order taken.Lunch order taken at 1.45.No starters just 3 medium main meals. We actually got our food at 2.45pm. It was busy with a large party of approx 10 who were eating starters as we arrived. Two young ladies running the bar & doing waitress duties. One poor lady who I presume was cook/chef bottle washer & everything in between.It was a rediculous wait for Sunday lunch & there were other customers who were also not happy about the wait time. Now the lunch itself was simply delicious. Roast potatoes, Yorkshire pud, mashed parsnip, carrots, peas broccoli, cauliflower cheese & plenty of meat. All piping hot, plenty of gravy & a selection of sauces. No complaints on the food, we were offered a free pudding because of the hours wait for food. We decided against taking this offer up as we had visions of waiting another hour & just did not want to put the poor chef under further stress.We would eat there again because the food was excellent, however prior to ordering I would be asking how long the wait for food would be. Customer's should have been advised at the time of ordering there would be an excessively long wait. I hope this was just an off day as it would be sad if our experience was normal.

Plenty to chose from on the menu.Food excellent and plenty of it.Beer from the barrel and mugs not straight glasses if you wish.Service excellent.A very good village/country pub.Ample parking.Nice old surroundings not a plastic pub.I will go there again.

Wow, what a wonderful find - cannot fault the friendliness and acceptance of my son with severe special needs. Family meal out to celebrate another family gathering. Everyone present was so friendly and helpful towards us. Great variety of food and separate menu for gluten free making it easy to separate the choices we could all eat. Will definitely return when we next visit Devizes. Thank you so much - eating out with my family can be very stressful - you made a stressful occasion really relaxed and enjoyable.
