Fabulous lunch for a special birthday, to say the food was better than pub grub is an understatement. The thing that stood out even more was the excellent service, charming and attentive without being overbearing or hurried. Thank you Jason, Sarah and Charlie

Overall nice food but would like some foods without a lot of sauces additions etc I had the fish and chips but salt was sprinkled over the chips this not necessary or wanted. I had the sicilian lemon tart to finish when i saw it came with a cherry amaretto sauce this have spoilt it I asked for the sauce to be served separately...I'm glad i did because it should be like this anyway Certain things need to be looked at to improve presentation for a better experience

Nice interior. Nice welcoming staff. We chose from the restaurant menu. We are a family of four and we chose a three course meal with wine. The starter was reasonable but the main course was rather poor. The lamb was very tough and two of us just left it after trying to cut it and taste it. Two of us left most of our main course which the staff took away without any comment. The meal for four cost me £170.00 and was a huge let down.

A great meal last night, the Freshly Battered Line Caught cod and chips was fab and the service from Tracy was excellent, she is a real asset to the restaurant.

Shak looked after us very well considering we had an enthusiastic 2 year old with us. The food was delicious and the service excellent, Thank you for a really lovely evening.

We enjoyed good food with our walking group and excellent service from our waitress, Tracy. We were a prebooked group of 9 and the food came out hot and we all ate at the same time. Most of us had the crumble for dessert - whilst it was delicious, they were a bit stingy on the custard! A lovely pub to stop and relax in after a long walk.

The staff at Ramblers Rest could not have been kinder. They let us move tables as we had more friends than initially booked. The attention to allergenic needs was excellent and we can thank the waiting and kitchen staff for adjusting the menu to suit what was needed. We had been here for Sunday Lunch before, but it was the first time we had come during the week. We had a 50% Off Main Course voucher which was available to the majority of dishes on the menu. I had the Rump of Lamb and my husband the Pork Belly. Both dishes were beautifully cooked; my Lamb was pleasantly Pink, and the portions were quite generous with added vegetables on the dish so need for an extra order. We were quite full so shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert which was just sufficient to leave us feeling satiated and happy. The Restaurant was quite full and buzzy but not noisy so conversation was easy. All in all a very enjoyable experience and we look forward to visiting again soon.

Great place for Sunday lunch. Good portion sizes and good service (Shak was great). So nice to be surrounded by dogs in the bar. No complaints. It is busy so make sure you book for Sundays.

Shown to our table quickly, had to move tables as table very wobbly. 2 waitiors we had were very friendly and service was quick. The Chipotle chicken and salt and pepper squid was delicious but the portion sizes on all the dishes were on the small side and felt over priced for what we got.

My wife and I book a table for a mid week treat. We were delighted by the warm welcome and excellent food. The staff were very helpful helping to my table and making me welcome which is not a given for a disabled person. We had 3 courses . Sharing the starter and pudding! Exceptional service from our waitress and all the staff on the night. We were very impressed by the quality of the food and will return soon.

I have lived near the ramblers for 20 years. Visited several times with mixed experiences but lunch today was excellent. In particular many thanks to jake for his excellent friendly service. Will be back.

The food was wonderful, but a bit pricey. Service was good and it is wonderful that they have a dog friendly area. My only real gripe is the tomato ketchup came in single use plastic pots. It would have been better to have been given a bottle. But anyway, it was a lovely meal.

Very disappointed. Having booked for a Christmas Eve dinner , we were seated at the back of the pub by the toilets and kitchen. No atmosphere, Christmas decorations etc. Table was sticky, no glasses, condiments, food was not hot enough and poor in comparison to other local pubs that we have visited (chequers, Mint for example).. as a result we did not stay very long deciding not to have wine or dessert. Such a shame, would not book again

We booked a table for three for lunch on a Saturday and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal Professional service by the young staff Nice IPA, Malbec and Prosecco by the glass I had the Pork Belly and Scallop which was delicious. The others had sausage and mash and steak and Malbec pie (too hard pastry apparently) which were ok Nice selection of cheeses and the apple and damson crumble looked good

We were here for a Birthday lunch with son and fiancé. Jaffa was well looked after, bowl of water on arrival, some snacks later and comfortable floor. We loved the roasts, service, and beers also – Thank you.

My daughter and I often visit The Rambler's Rest and find it's a pub hard to beat. Like a previous reviewer said, 2 hours there flies by . We don't often eat there, but when we have, we throughly enjoyed our meals.

Very poor Sunday roast. Trio of roast was tough beef, small chicken leg and slice of pork for £20....not worth the money. Young staff without any interaction. Try the Dolphin in Betchworch for the same price...excellent roast.
