The Ram Arnold in Gedling

Though I'd give this place another chance after being pretty rubbish food 1 year earlier, it was because my brother who left Nottingham 4 years ago and remembered this place like myself as being very good food and a reasonable cost. But all our group of 5 people came to the same conclusion it's awful, 2 of the group didn't even bother eating it. Was like left overs from the kitchen that had been placed on the plate

The pub looks shoddy on the outside, inside the decor is smart and clean and the food and staff are top notch. Don’t be put off by the exterior.

This was the first meal we've been out for in almost two years and it was absolutely awful! We had two of their Sunday dinners that consisted of a tiny portion of what tasted like and looked instant mash, two balls of stuffing that as soon as you touched them were the consistency of what stuffing is like before you add water, parsnips that were burnt on the outside but solid in the middle a clump of mixed vegetables that had no flavour at all and a frozen Yorkshire pudding. The chicken on one meal was dry beyond belief but the gravy or brown water was inedible so we couldn't even remedy that. We also ordered a mixed grill...where do I start the steak wasn't cooked how we asked the sausages were black the onion rings were burnt the gammon was at least edible and the chicken had a nice charcoal taste but was so dry it was exhausting to even chew. All this and the place wasn't even busy when we arrived so it wasn't like the kitchen staff were rushed off their feet! The 40 minutes we waited for the food seems to have given them just enough time to burn and ruin everything. We promised the kids a dessert but didn't want to risk more disappointment we won't be returning!

Just back from the Ram and another lovely meal.Took advantage of the Eat out scheme and this is the 7th time we have been and yet again service was first class and the food was beautiful. Just have to thank the manager who is running the show with the customers from explaining what the process is for ordering ,queuing up and the bar etc.etc. So if you get the chance get yourself to the Ram.....its fantastic

Steak was cooked almost to perfection just a tad over medium rare. The macaroni cheese and bacon on top of it was amazing, not a combination I would imagine to work. Onion rings were abit crispy but I like them that way. Then my pudding was amazing it was so appealing to look at and the flavour certainly lived up to it highly recommend this place even though it was busy they didn’t rush there work. The only thing stopping the 5 stars is it took almost an hour but give or take it was worth the wait. Well done to the staff that was on tonight you deserve a raise .

Well cooked steak quick service ambience brilliant will call again drink prices good too all round value for money

If you are eating here stick with the meat dishes , the fish and scampi dishes are of poor quality and more batter than fish avoid . Steak and mixed grill were good . Food probable similar to a weathspoons nothing to get excited about .Place is convenient and reasonably priced

Took my daughter out for a meal,I had lasagna it look disgusting tasted like perfume,it was over cooked hardly any cheese on top,the staff seem very demotivated ,we had no check back at all,the pudding was lovely,went to pay my bill,told the guy it wasn’t nice,his reply was sorry to hear that in a couldnt careless attitude,defiantly won’t be returning

Went tonight for a meal the interior has been beautifully transformed looks so nice and the meal was perfect.

Went to the Ram for the first time since the reopening on Thursday night and the pub has been transformed, its completely different they have done a brilliant job on the interior/ exterior ,new seating , lighting in fact everything they must of spent a fortune. Food as usual a very high standard and service was quick. Got £5 off meal due to being a regular customer so a great night with the wife and a new look pub. Fantastic

Great meal as usual , Steak pie with chips and gravy ,comfort food . The staff are lovely , efficient, polite, friendly without being intrusive .It has become our regular once a week treat. We are panicking already as we have heard they are having a refit soon ,so , will have to stay home and rattle some pots n pans. We are sure it will have the WOW factor though ,can't wait .

Visited with 2 friends. Meals were nice but nothing exceptional on the menu! Just the normal pub grub. It was quiet. No children. Staff were pleasant. Just beware about entering you car registration number into the machine, otherwise you end up with a fine! Cant see why this is necessary though!!

Visited today [table 18] with party of five , our second visit. The first thing that strikes is the lovely way the staff treat the customers and go that extra mile. Today the lady and gentleman serving at the bar doubled as restaurant staff and with most of the tables taken, my didn't they work hard. Our pub food of various choices was excellent as were the prices....five main meals for £34.50 I noticed all customers were advised of the need to register car reg numbers on the computer at the bar...a feature installed as car parking spaces are often abused with into town trippers leaving vehicles at the Ram, being on the outskirts of the city...good move as despite the many signs not everyone takes heed as noted in previous posts. Altogether a lovely lunch meal and chat enjoyed by all...one to be repeated.

We eat at the Ram at least once a week. There is plenty of parking, please remember to check in by registration number at the bar, a hefty fine will spoil your memory of a good night out. The atmosphere is good and the service first class. We sometimes have a starter and a sweet, skipping the main and still feel well FED. The steaks are great and there is plenty of choice,, complimented by a well stocked bar.

la comida era buena, aunque tardaba un poco en llegar, pobre muchacha haciendo todo por su cuenta, recuerdo haber llenado la autorización de estacionamiento el 9/10/18 y, más de un mes después, haber recibido una multa de estacionamiento sin posibilidad de apelar y sin posibilidad de descontar multa. No comeré aquí de nuevo absolutamente disgustado

We are often out for lunch The Ram was recommended to us & the Seniors Menu was superb & very good value

Great food and good value. I had a burger whilst a friend had the platter couldn’t really fault it. I do feel though that the girl behind the bar (brown hair, fringe) could smile.

You have to register your car to park there, which is odd as it’s on Mansfield road and I can’t imagine why there would be a parking problem.

We visit here often as it is accommodating, quick and relatively cheap. There are many different choices of what to eat, and several vegan and vegetarian options available. The service is usually quick and the staff are friendly. I usually go for the vegetarian sausage peas and mash, followed by one of their wonderful sundaes!

If u don't want a £85 fine for parking in there car park and want cold food do not go there went last week for food today got a parking fine for eating a meal for parking joke not good and not happy at all

Had cod chips peas, it was absolutely disgusting chips reheated, cod all batter hardly any fish, but the bit of fish was black yuk !!! best thing was peas would not return or recommend

We usual twice a month breakfast at The Ram RedHill ,but few time complaining foods to dried , over cook ... So we stop visit as long two months plus . Today visit again ,waitress with good smiley friendly welcome ,unfortunately when Breakfast serve it’s worst than before . Whatever we finish it without complaints.

We met family for a birthday meal, all from different households. Three of us were severely ill, and the common denominator appears to be from different meals but which all contained the steak. In actual fact, the steak was the worst steak I had ever eaten in my entire life. It was tough, overcooked and grizzly. I had a lot of difficulty even cutting it. I had asked for medium to rare, but it certainly was not that.

Mi abuela le encanta Ram cada vez que se visita de Londres, que es el único lugar que quiere ir. Bien hecho Ram

If you've been to any chain pub, you'll have found very average food. It's no different here. Greasy microwave technician food, churned out no real care or flavour

La segunda vez que hemos estado para el desayuno en los meses recientes. Buena comida a un buen precio. Personal amable, cálida bienvenida.

Lo que ha sucedido a la RAM? ? ? Me encanta comer aquí y en muchas ocasiones. Fuimos esta noche con la familia, el servicio era pésimo, aunque cuando el personal finalmente apareció, fueron muy amables. Los tiempos de espera para empezar, comidas y postres era ridículo.

Vinimos anoche. El servicio era muy lento. Luego la comida llegaba y sólo empeoró. El Mixed Grill - ordenados raro vino poner onca fuente chisporrotea y terminó siendo recocida. La carne en sí era muy grasos. Las patatas fritas en las 5 comidas estaban cocidas. La carne en todas las demás placas estaba recocido. Salchichas en 2 eran negros.

No iremos de nuevo. Mi pareja y yo visitamos aquí en 3. 3. 17 y no visitar de nuevo una pena, ya que hemos visitado antes. En primer lugar mi pareja quería un 20 onzas, tenían ninguno así que pedí un 10 oz bife de costilla había 1 izquierda que tuve, así que me decidí por un 8 oz solomillo que salió mal. Mi compañero envió este atrás y no reciba gratis un refresco mientras él esperó. Su carne luego de regresar mal otra vez de un extremo a otro. Problema problema después fue ayer. Y es una pena porque nos encantó la primera vez. Una camarera acabó tomado una comida de nuestra cuenta. Pero tampoco era comida comimos después de todos los problemas que no vale la pena. Es una pena.

La comida en este pub/restaurante es buena con un menú completo para satisfacer toda la comida es siempre caliente y relación calidad-precio. El personal es muy amable la parrilla frita mezcladas es increíble.

Todos tuvimos una cena maravillosa aquí en diciembre comimos fuera del menú normal había 11 de nosotros todo salió prácticamente juntos y todo era muy bueno. El servicio era excelente, qué más se puede decir de otros que por un pub a un precio razonable nos volveremos.

Having been recommended to try this pub by some respected friends, we decided to pay a visit for lunch, and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and plentiful, the background music was not intrusive to conversation and the ambience was very relaxing. The one member of staff on duty coped brilliantly, serving not only drinks, preparing coffees, and taking orders, but also managed to pull in clearing tables and helping a colleague with serving food. This, to us, showed the staff worked as a team and clearly enjoyed their work. What's more, they were very friendly and had genuine smiles for their customers. The value was excellent resulting in a bill of just over £40 for four of us including coffees.

we usually eat here 1 or 2 times a week but the last 2 times have taken the biscuit, last time I ordered a 20oz steak which was so grisly that the steak knife had trouble cutting through it, this time I ordered a mixed grill and upgraded the steak from 5oz to 10oz for an extra £2.70 odd and again the steak was like eating a leather work boot so I asked them to take the 10oz steak back and give me a couple of sausages and would you believe they only gave me £2 back, now I am sure 2 sausages do not cost the same as a 5oz steak but they did not even give me the £2.70 odd it cost me for the upgrade to the 10oz steak and then had the cheek to charge my wife 40p for a splash of blackcurrant for her lager, I will learn by my mistake, by the way, this is my daughters account because for some reason they do not have any google reviews for this pub, I wonder if it's because they are too afraid they will get no custom

What a brilliant meal. The portions are more than ample, the staff were amazing without being cheesy and in your face. The atmosphere in the Ram is lovely and clean and very welcoming. We had a great lunch would highly recommend the baileys sundae WOW that was to die for. We will be going again very soon. Highly recommend this place. AMAZING

Came here with a friend after shopping nearby - midweek at 6.30. Place was steady and food looked tempting so i ordered veggie sausage , mash, peas and gravy. Came out after 10 mins or so - and I had to ask for extra gravy as there was so little of it on plate. This was done, no problem but it came out in a tiny jug I could have done with another. There was so much dried mash I couldn't eat it all, peas were slightly dried but sausage was nice. Friend ordered gammon and chips - both these were on the 2 for £8 menu. Not much veggie option as always, friend said gammon was nice. We then had dessert - caramel Bramley apple pie and custard - chocolate meringue and cream and again it nothing fancy, just nice food. Customer service was good, friendly staff and venue was clean. Would visit again

my wife and I dined at the ram after not calling there for some time forgetting how good the food and friendly atmosphere and good servings, we both opted for the cod and chips a very large portion of cod could of been a few more chips, my wife ate her favourite sundae, while tucked into there smudgy choc cake and ice cream running with chocolate sauce all over, and all at a very reasonable price thank you ram.

Best steak and chips I've had in ages and at such a reasonable price! Delicious food and compliments to the chef! The decor of the pub could be improved however - especially the drab beer garden outside/the fencing etc.

Fantastic food and great service and great value for money. Breakfast there is a great selection of choice with unlimited coffee for £1 until 11:30 .

Not sure how to rate this place. This pub/restaurant is everything you would expect from a former local pub turned to bar-restaurant. The former locals still prop up the bar, it still houses a pool table and dart board and I have on occasion visited to find I have entered the hell of a karaoke bar. The bar server the usual pub beverages and has a good selection of real ales, right up my street.As for the restaurant bit (the bar and restaurant are not separate areas); The menu is good, plenty of choice and variety. The food tastes good, nothing special but I guess this is not the establishment you would come to for something other than a typical bar menu. The staff are friendly but the 'hunt your own cutlery' game is not my idea of service, surely as they used to here, the staff could bring you the cutlery. This is a typical pub and pub food type of place, not bad but not anything special. That said I do come back every now and again.

The Ram have great staff, the food is M&B standard stuff. One massive problem is the wait for food when it gets slightly busy. If quiet the food is ok, when busy the food is not quite not up to standard.

We always pass this pub but it looks a bit rubbish from the outside so have never gone in. On Saturday me and my partner wanted to try something a bit different so decided that we would give it a try! The food is brilliant and so was the service! The burgers were really tasty and was a great price with plenty of choice. I will deffo be returning. To make it a 5* I would recommend sprucing up the outside a bit.

we visited about a week ago on a Saturday afternoon, we sat on the high booth. we always are happy with the great value for money and excellent menu. when we ordered we were advised that a 45 minute wait would be in place, as a large table had just ordered. which was perfectly fine. I kept the three teenagers happy with bar snacks of peanuts and pork scratchings. our food took about 35 minutes so we were more than happy. everything looked absolutely delicious. the portions are big, and some of us were unable to finish our plates, as we needed room for sundae's lol. I found the toilets to be my only disappointment. with broken door locks, and tissue on the floor, it looked like it hadn't been checked at all throughout the day, and there is no staff chart stating when the toilets were last checked. but we will be back to visit, the food and value for money is what brings us back

I go in this pub weekly on a thursday for the pub quiz .Sometimes we have food you get what you pay for (that says it all !!!!)The pub is getting very scruffy,dirty, food over the carpet, tables never clean we always have to clean the table before we sit down.Staff (some of then)unfriendly,give you dirty looks.

back to the ram for a snack and a relaxing rest,was nice and warm inside comfortable seating, i ordered a starter of nachos which was delicous left your lips very hot with the jalapenos peppers very good,then a hearty main course of cod large one chips and mushy peas,my wife prefering a dessert rather than a starter ordered grilled chicken breast jacket potatoes and garden peas,and a profiterol sundae takes some getting through,service and staff gets better every time we go,never rushed out you leave when your ready.

This is second year been to The Ram for dinner, 3 courses with family will be booking again for next year, staff were nice and welcoming food was very nice enjoyed by all and reasonably priced. Thanks to Neil and his staff see you soon

We went for a pre booked meal as we have done previously and it was nowhere near as good as previous years!On arrival we were told some of our families starters weren't available (prawn cocktail)even though it had been pre-ordered so we had to make a different choice I personally wasn't happy with the other starters so I declined a starter then sat open mouthed as 3 separate servings of prawn cocktail came out the kitchen!As it was a family meal a 7yr old and a 9month old baby were present the children were constantly kept waiting to be served we had to ask for their meals and they were consistently wrong.Throughout the meal although the food was hot we weren't served our meals as a family with quite a few having to wait while others cleared their plate so it wasn't a fantastic family meal as it should of been.The staff seemed stressed and our table was poorly managed (so unlike previous experience) not sure if I'd return after this dining experience which is a shame as we normally have a great time here.

to save cooking and use up a £5.00 off a £10 spend on food i went alone to the ram was a cold day fancied a good hot meal chose the ultimate mixed grill which was a CHEAP £11.00 odd coppers and a pint of carlings lager which came with voucher off to a very cheap meal of just under £9.00.when the large platter came looked amazing what spoilt it was cold except the chips which was very sparse,had it not been for the voucher i would of sent it back but felt mean to moan you get for what you pay.??

I turned up and ordered my food, it looked like an alright family pub/place to eat. I ordered my steak rare, it came on a hot plate, a very very hot plate where I think it had been sat for a while. This meant my nice rare steak was no-where near rare and the onions underneath had no chance - completely black. If I do ever go again I'll probably request a normal plate as the steak itself was a good size and it had potential. They also missed bits ordered off one of our meals. I don't know if we got charged for it, I didn't see the point in asking.Despite forgetting we ordered deserts they were lovely and definitely good value for money. Well, they were as soon as I reminded about them about the order. (they came out straight away after that)I'll try again I think, maybe a one off.

Been here a few times for breakfast. Cheap tasty and good value for money. They're 1 pound refillable coffee or teas are a bonus

a visit to the ram was good eating, we ate a very good beef in ale pie with lovely chips and garden peas with a seperate boat of good tasting gravy. followed with a scrumptous cookie shortcake and chocolate flake sundae for my wife and to busy eating it to notice all ingredients,I had and enjoyed a very lovely chocolate fudge cake that sticks to your denture with two scoops of dairy cream and topped with chocolate sauce best i have had anywhere.thank you staff at freindly the ram.

Great meal for a great price. We come here all the time and have always had lovely meals, Meals always come fast. Puddings are tastey too.

After attend a funeral service our appetite got the better of us, so we decided to visit the ram on mansfield rd arnold. my wife and i both ordered fish and chips with mushy peas, i have to say they was lovely. after devouring the lovely dish, waiting and waiting for our desert spoilt the occasion, went to the gents and on returning still no desert waited at our table until 45 minutes later after watching everyone else being served i approched a waitress who went to search for our desert, she came back with an apology and told us ouir desert would be with us shortly,10m minutes later the much awaited desert arrived, they were very good and yummy but again my nerves were stressed and the occasion spoilt, a good meal spoilt by the worst service encountered would i go back i dont like being served by incompetence meals going a stray. no thank you at £23 etc,not a happy bunny

Nice friendly atmosphere, within walking distance of town centre just for popping in for coffee a pint or food well worth the money you pay has daily specials and good children's menu

My wife and me went to The Ram as we hadn't been for a while, and now I understand why, the place is attached to the side of a premier Inn and the car park was full of workmans vans, needless to say when we entered The. Ram the vans occupants were in residence.We got our drinks and were assisted to a table by a member of staff, we sat down and subsequently ordered our food, simple enough meals gammon and chips.my wife's food was good, however I was not that impressed with mine, the onion rings were soggy and cold, the chips tired and softened and the gammon was over cooked and pineapple burnt, all in all giving the impression the meal had been rushed and had then been left waiting on the side.I had been at work all day and really couldn't be bothered mustering up a complaint, and another 20 minute wait for the replacement meal.I would suggest you visit The. Ram if your looking for a place to meetyour mates from work, or looking to end a relationship.I most certainly will not be bothering again

we came for the first time today for a meal for Father's Day and we had a lovely meal and the staff couldn't do enough for you nothing was to much trouble. We will definitely be back again soon.

Visited with my family on Friday evening and ordered 2 x scampi and chips and 2 x BBQ smothered chicken. The food was cold, the sizzling plates were cold and when we mentioned it to the waitress she walked off and never came back. "Was everything alright" she asked. No definitely not and won't eat there again.

We both had the 'All American Platter' which included 'BBQ glazed ribs' - the ribs were barely warm, they needed another minute or two in the microwave, and the 'glaze' was really just BBQ sauce on the top. The coleslaw and salad looked like something from a school canteen. Apart from that the chicken wings and goujons were bang on. Suppose you can't really complain too much when you pay under £10.

I have visited The Ram on numerous times and always found the staff and management very friendly, and approachable. Nothing is to much trouble. The food is always cooked perfectly and always hot. I highly recommend a visit, even if it's just for a drink

not very often i lunch alone i pick the cheapest pub close by and eat alone so armed with a £5.00 off a £10.00 spend off i went to the ram on the mansfield road redhill end off nottm. I use the word alone and gosh this was alone. just me, i ordered a lovely mixed grill and not fancying a pint i ordered a glass of coke, was a very cold day but after enjoying a very large platter of a mixed grill which was plentiful of the usual very well presented and cooked to prefection,my compliments to the staff i devoured the lot washed down with my coke, when finished i placed my empty plate licked clean on the bar then tip toed out of the ram for fear of waking any christmas spirits present, if your passing or why not just go its worthwhile thank you ram and a very merry christmas to one and all present,

Haven eaten here many times we know what to expect. The staff are efficient and Friendly. The menu selection is very good. There is something for everyone. This evening we had the beef lasagne with chianti and also the piggy hot dog which is a hot dog with pulled pork. Onion rings and Monterey Jack cheese. Both were very tasty. The atmosphere is decent. It's next to a main road but you don't really notice.

Basically.Staff cannot be bothered, they like automatons, press buttons take money enjoy your meal.Beef lasagne- tasteless, dry,very small and hidden by the mountain of iceberg lettuceKids chicken - drier than the Sahara, chips cooked last week to quote one daughterChicken Nuggets- hard, beans cold, chips looked like they had been fished from the back of a radiator.It's Greene King what you come to expect 3663 food prepared by microwave technicians eughhh!

Nice pub really a place you could sit chatting away eating and a few pint of real ale etc then at the end your not really going to get a huge bill most dishes are under £10 pound all presented and cooked fine for the money you pay if your looking for fine dining then go pay £50 + pp so I'm not going to complain about the food here it is pub grub and one you could visit to save the hassle of shopping then cooking yourself and not cost you much more. Been a couple of time and probably call again for that cheap and cheerful meal and a pint

So pleased my daughter and myself visited here the food we had was lovely the service fast and friendly and the prices good and menu had too many choices so going back to have another go;-)

The Ram has had something of a chequered past over the last few years but it has certainly looked up since it became part of the "sizzling" chain. It is cleverly laid out inside, with a lot of individual booths which break up the very large floor space into cosy friendly small family areas. the young staff are always extremely attentive and courteous and the food is always hot and nourishing. it gives great value for money and as it emails offers very regularly we now tend to go far more often than we used to. Maybe not for that extra special night out, but for a midweek "let's eat out instead of cooking" there isn't a more reasonable or pleasanter pub this side of Nottingham.

Great food, great service, great prices, can't fault it. Only comment is that the car park "Entrance" sign looks the same as the "No Entry sign" so we actually parked in the pub next door! Change of background colour of car park entrance sign from red to green would be great!
